Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread

With the new season now upon us, the Chairman has set me the fair challenge of another top half finish. Ideally, I'll be pushing for the top 6 so as to improve from last season's 8th but aside from the big 3 names on the team sheet we don't quite have the strength of a promotion challenger on paper.

Looking to bring in some loanees to strengthen certain areas we have a shortage of class in so let me know if you have any good assets you wish to let go of to gain playing time and shorten your wage bill.

Here is the senior team sheet as it stands for season 20 (my first full season in charge):

1 Valdes

2 Villagra

3 Fuchs

4 Silvestre

5 Gonzalez

6 Schulz

7 Farfan

8 Parker

9 Mandzukic

10 Gebhart

11 Downing

12 Forster

13 Hoilett

14 Birsa

15 Fejsa

16 Vida

17 Osvaldo

18 Cerro

19 Carlos

20 Diallo

21 Aydogdu

22 Paulinho

23 Beerens

24 Edenilson

25 McManaman

26 Milivojevic

27 Sunu

Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread

Listening to offers for Sahin, seen as it's becoming so hard to try and get deals for my other players I'm hoping Sahin will attract some sort of interest. Looking for part exchange.

Derby County News

Derby County have been active in the transfer window after landing Manchester United forward El Arabi earlier today and they have now completed another three signings with midfielder Jordan Graham, Porto defender Luis Rafa, Fiorentina striker Kenneth Zohore. 18-year-old Graham was without a club but a successful trail saw him with a 3-seasons contract.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shinji Okazaki says he is determined to fight for his place at Derby County despite the permanent addition of El Arabi from Manchester United. Okazaki has struggled to earn a regular spot in Dean Bryant's starting eleven last season and has been linked with a move to German side Mainz. "I'm going to try to win myself a place in the team and work hard to acheive that," Okazaki stated to The Soccer Manager Times. "There may have been some difficult moments, but I still have a contract to honor. I have never said that I want to leave."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

South Korea international midfielder Ja-Cheol Koo could be set for a move to Division 3 outfit Derby County after failing out of favour with Rochdale manager Warren Livesey. The 24-year-old arrived from Huddersfield Town in Season 13 for 4.8 million pound but has only played 35 league games for seven seasons and is desperate for regular first-team football. Livesey is reportedly happy to allow the Korea Republic to leave as he aims to free up some funds with the midfielder's contract expiring at the end of the current season. It is believed that a 10 million pound fee has been agreed between the two clubs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derby County manager Dean Bryant has slapped in 25 million pound minimum fee for Lewis Holtby. The German midfielder has been a subject of interest from Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion but Bryant is determined to keep the 23-year-old at Pride Park. It is reported that Preston North End has a bid of 15 million pound rejected, that is 10 million pound less than Derby asking price.

Nabil Bentaleb signing confirmed by West Brom

West Bromwich Albion in the last hour confirmed the signing of Frenchmen Nabil Bentaleb from free agent. The 19 year old signed for a fee of just under £4 million pounds and is expected to be one of the future plans with WBA. Albion outbid chasers for the young star such as Chelsea and Swindon Town and although West Brom maybe could of paid a little less for Bentaleb, they said it is a risk worth taking for the future.

Bentaleb isn't the only player that has been linked with Albion in the past few days, names such as Aaron Ramsey and Lewis Holtby are ringing around The Hawthorns about the club possibly signing them up, not only players coming in have been the rumours too, apparently 25 year old Nuri Sahin's future is unclear with the club now after a recent turn of events, this is what Journal had to say to the rumours:

"I can confirm that there was a bid placed for Aaron Ramsey but nothing more escalated from this, there was discussions between me and the West Ham United manager but the bid was withdrawn. I have already spoke about how much I like Lewis Holtby and how much of a great addition he would be to our squad so obviously with the Derby manager listing a minimum fee of £25 million on him rumours will obviously go around, no bid has been made for him as of yet.

The Sahin situation is a very funny one, he is now confirmed to be the clubs captain but he could still leave, why? Sahin is a great player for us, too big for division 3 some may say, so if we had the opportunity to cash in on him and get some more depth added to our squad from him, this may be the case. I have spoken to Nuri myself and he completely understands my thinking, he isn't transfer listed, he is just available for any clubs interested."

Derby County News

Division 3 side Derby County have announced the capture of Korea Republic international Ja-Cheol Koo from Rochdale for a fee believed to be around 10 million pound. The 24-year-old has put on pen to paper for The Rams until Season 23.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derby County appear to be edging closer to signing Liverpool forward Heung-Min Son, with the Korea Republic international's agent reportedly seen at the club's Pride Park stadium yesterday. It is reported that three players are involved in a deal between Derby County and Liverpool. 22-year-old Jack Wilshere, who has been attracting interest from a host of clubs in England, is set to be announced as Liverpool player today. In other part of the deal, Heung-Min Son and Italy international midfielder Riccardo Montolivo will be moving to the opposite direction. The Soccer Manager Times has also revealed that Derby County will receive a fee of five million pound as part of the swap.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Derby County manager Dean Bryant says his club are not prepared in selling midfielder Lewis Holtby, while revealing his interest in taking Yoann Gourcuff as part of a swap for Holtby is now faded. Speculation in recent weeks has linked the talented German playmaker with a move to Preston North End or West Bromwich Albion, while other media this week has said that Manchester United and Stoke City have tabled their offers for Holtby. With the departure of Jack Wilshere to Liverpool is now closer to completion, Derby manager Dean Bryant said in The Soccer Manager Times that he is not prepared to lose another midfielder at present.

"Due to the change of course in the transer market, Holtby is not available for sale," he said. "(Jack) Wilshere is leaving us so we don't think letting Holtby leave is a wise decision for our club."

Montolivo and Son join Derby County

Italy international midfielder Riccardo Montolivo and South Korean international midfielder Heung-Min Son have joined Derby County on a long-term contract in the club's biggest coup this pre-season. Montolivo, 28, and Son, 21, were part of a transfer swap with midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The Korean forward has been a long-term target while Montolivo is regarded as Wilshere's replacement in the starting eleven and manager Dean Bryant said." We are extremely pleased to have signed two players in Wilshere's deal. Son is a great player and has the potential to develop to a world-class player. Montolivo, meanwhile, has a vast experience under his belt, with a proven quality at both club and international level. We have watched and admired both of them for some time as they will provide real quality in Derby side."

"I have said throughout the pre-season that we have been working hard to bring in top quality players to this football club. We will definitely miss Wilshere's presence but Montolivo and Son will provide depth for our squad."

Sorry if I havent got back to any in-game messages, I rarely go on the PC and just use the new app, and it doesn't have PM's on it yet. You're best getting hold of me either on here or by the news feed.

Glad to see some activity in the transfer market. Angel Rangel and Seb Larsson are off to Rotherham and Rushden and Diamonds respectively, Bellamy will leave for external if I don't get an offer that beats it tonight. Looking to cut down my squad so I only have two 87+ for each position, so Figueroa can leave for a good price. Hull have a good defensive record in the Premier League this season so it won't be peanuts.

I would be interested in bellamy, but obviously can't bid tonight - what price would you like for him?

WBA and Tranmere agree fee for Cleverley

24 year old Englishmen is set to be Journal's 3rd signing since taking charge at West Bromwich Albion after the England international agreed to join and is set to complete he's switch from Tranmere to Albion within the next few hours. Cleverley will follow England team mate Andros Townsend and Nabil Bentaleb on the season break transfers as Journal looks to make big changes in his side, Cleverley and Townsend already showing the way Journal is planning for the future at the club.

The deal will cost West Brom a heavy fee, in the other direction Simone Pepe heads to the Merseyside club as well as Nicola Sansone, the Italian pair also go with £3.5 million pounds to add to the fee. Pepe was told he would not be part of Journal's future plans after the season finished and Sansone had too much competition at Albion to ever try and break into the first team so opted to try out a new club in the hunt of first team football.

"I obviously happy with the expected arrival of Tom in the next few hours at the club, but I would also like to wish the best in the future for 2 players that are heading the other way, them being Simone Pepe and Nicola Sansone who I both think deserve to be given a shot at first team football elsewhere. I made it clear to Simone that he may be sold within the next few weeks and he understood this, so it was no shock to him or Nicola Sansone when both were told they were part of an exchange deal.

I will speak to Cleverley tomorrow morning when he arrives about what is expected of him at the club, but I'm pretty sure he will had an idea of what is required from him despite him being at a young age of 24 he has still played at top level football. He will be straight into the squad for the opening clash with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday night, in a game we will hope to get off to a flying start, a start everyone team hopes for on the opening day."

In a turn of events, could Sahin now stay?

After the news of the arrival of Thomas Cleverley tomorrow at West Bromwich Albion, could this mean Turkish international Nuri Sahin will now remain a West Brom player? It was just yesterday that Journal confirmed reports that Sahin could be on his way out of Albion but now the 24 year old England internation Tom Cleverley is set to arrive, could it be a combination of the two across the midfield for the upcoming season?

"The main reason we may of opted to get rid of Nuri was to add something new to the centre of the midfield but after agreeing a few today for Cleverley, this may well see the 25 year old stay at our club, to the staff and fans delight. We understand that some fans were unhappy that he may of been able to leave after being made the new club captain, but due to us not being that successful in the market for central midfielders we thought Sahin could attract some interest, he did, but not any offers for us worth taking to move the club forward."

West Brom fans are said to be very happy after hearing the news late tonight, as well as the news coming that Cleverley is soon to join from Tranmere, could this be West Brom's year where they gain promotion to division 2? Some fans believe so and with Journals squad for the new season starting to take shape, its safe to say Albion will be up there with the best in division 3. More to come soon from West Bromwich Albion.
