Fans out in numbers to greet their new manager

Aidan Radford has token over English giants Manchester United. He proved his managerial experience with successes at teams such as Hearts, Derby and Fiorentina but admits this is by far the biggest job he's had. He's hoping for a top 6 finish but the first season is more of a learning curve then anything. They're set to take a new 4-3-1-2 formation under their new Welsh manager with Wayne Rooney playing behind the main two forwards.

Rooney wins Man of the Match

Manchester United drew their first game under the management of Aidan Radofrd with a 0-0 draw at home to Arsenal. It is their second draw in 2 games after their 1-1 draw away to AC Milan. It was a rather poor match with Wayne Rooney working hard behind Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov. Manager Aidan Radford said "This is 2 points lost rather than 1 point gained, yes Arsenal are a good side but so are we and every other team in the divison. Rooney did well and our players overall did better than Arsenal in every dipmartment."

Re: European Elite League

Stand out match from the first week of the season saw Real Madrid take on Barcelona. Boris Monks Barcelona side travelled to the spannish capital full of confidence, despite Real's recent spending spree which saw the likes of Ronaldo and Kaka arrive in Madrid. And the confidence seemed well founded when Henry put the Catalan side ahead after 19 minutes. They took this lead into the break, and seemed well placed to get something out of the match. The second half saw Barca continue to dominate possesion, with twice as many shots on target as Real. However, Barcas unwillingness to

sit back on a lead, and Madrid's undoubted class saw a turn around in fortunes with first

man-of-the-match Benzema (48) and then Marcelo (58) finding the back of the net for the whites.

Despite his obvious disapointment Monk was gracefull in defeat.

His opposing manager, Mark Howley, however was less gracefull, singing obscenities at Boris Monk in Welsh. He had this to say "thank f~@{ for that. That Welsh whatsitt had it coming"

Mr. Monk (aka Barry Ryllat) refused to comment

Other intersting results in week one saw Liverpool stick three past Valencia, with Torres getting a hat-trick.

Dimitar Berbatov celebrates what turned out to be the winning goal

Manchester United and Chelsea were both looking for vital wins in this match to boost them up the table in a very tight divison. Paul Scholes nearly got the away side off to a superb start but his shot found the side netting. Just a minute later and Frank Lampard nearly scored with a curling shot from the edge of the area, but his shot couldn't find the target. Lucho Gonzales was then booked after a foul on the edge of the box. Michael Owen then saw his header go just inches over the bar. Paul Scholes was close to scoring but his shot smashed against the crossbar.

At the start of the second half Frank Lampard saw his shot cleared off the line and put out of danger. Ryan Giggs put his long distance shot just wide off the post. John Obi Mikel picked up a booking for a reckless challenge. Dimitar Berbatov took advantage of his unseen offside position to race through on the keeper and score the opening goal to put Manchester United in the lead. Just a minute later and Michael Ballack was shown a straight red for a stupid two-footed challeng. Florent Malouda had the best of Chelsea's late chances but with 3-minutes to go, his powerfull shot went just wide. Manchester United hung on for the win which puts them 5th in the table and just a point of top spot Barcelona. Chelsea however drop to 8th and are just a point of bottom spot Inter Milan.

Aidan Radford turns down England

"he said the England women have a better chance of winning the world cup in South Africa then they do"

Aidan Radford has turned down the chance to manage England. Radford had already turned down the job at the Ivory Coast as he wanted to concentrate on managing Manchester United. Radford is born in Swansea and said that he would never manage England. He hit out at the football team and he said the England women have a better chance of winning the world cup in South Africa then they do. He said that the fans are incredibly poor and that they're expectations are too high when they boo off players. He said that sacking Steve Mcclaren when he didn't qualify for Euro 2008 showed that the board have to high expectations, they sacked Mcclaren but didn't sack any of the players. He said that players like Gerrard and Lampard don't put in the commitment for the club and have never has very good games for England, whilst they always have very good games for their club side. He also said that the english players in his squad are know different and he accused all of the players for not having the commintment.

Owen celebrates winning goal

Manchester United moved up to 4th after a crucial victory away to Roma. They had to do it without Dimitar Berbatov aswell who's been suspended for 3 matches. Taddei gave Roma the lead after just 2 minutes, when a good move saw him in space allowing him to score past Edwin Van Der Sar. Manchester United equalised just 7 minutes later when Michael Carrick scored with a superb curling shot. Manchester United were close to going 2-1 up on 32 minutes but Paul Scholes's 25 yard shot crashed against the crossbar. Then just 2 minutes later Wayne Rooney missed the simplest of chances, putting an open goal off target. Michael Owen then hit the post on 64 minutes after being put through, one on one with the keeper. Owen did score 10 minutes later to give United the lead. Phillipe Mexes put a backpass right into Owen's feet who beat Doni for ease. Manchester United held on for the win, with Owen's third goal of the season in all competitions turning out to be the winning goal. Manchester United go above Chelsea, Roma and Milan into 4th place.

Bayern Munich beat Manchester United 2-1 to go 2nd in the league table now above Manchester United who drop to 3rd. Luca Toni and Robben gave Bayern early goal with Manchester United getting a goal back just before half time from Rio Ferdinand but couldn't find an equaliser and went on to lose the match. Manager Aidan Radford is dissapointed with the result but wants to get on with it and prepare for Manchester United's match with Lyon at Old Trafford. Lyon are 4th, just behind Manchester United and both sides can get into 2nd place if they win.

Bayern Munich Unveil New Manager!

Ribery is happy they have a new manager at last

Bayern Munich today unveiled there new manager, after whittling down the hunt for a manager to a certain Mr Campbell. The Bayern Munich board feel Campbell is the man to lead them to success, even if it is a challenge. Bayern Munich currently sit 2nd in the European Elite League Division 1, so manager Campbell just has to strengthen his squad.

Campbell was shown to the press and the rest of the world earlier today, and gave this statement

It is an honour to be here at such a big club. This is a tough league, and it will mean plenty of tough seasons, but I am always up for the challenge, and I know the players will be too. I am a manager who believes in hard working players, so I will expect all players to pull there weight for the team. I have the core of the team set already, which consists of five main players who I expect a performance from every game, as these players are world class. My first game in charge is in the quarter-finals of the cup, so I hope to start as we mean to go on there.

Toni is expected to be one of Campbell's core team players

It is said Campbell has no interests in transfers till next season, though if the opportunity arises, or players under perform, he will not hesitate in offloading these players. Campbell's first priority though was sorting out contracts with Pranjic, Van Buyten and Tymoschuk. He then named his Captain and Co-Captain for this season, and these players are Ribery and Demichelis.

Demichelis is Co-Captain, whilst Ribery takes the arm band

European Elite League Cup Quarter-Final Review

Campbell expects his team to go to the Semi-Finals

Schweinsteiger is surprisingly expected to start on the bench

Newcomer manager Campbell sees his Bayern Munich side play host to Fiorentina in the EE League Cup, and he expects his stars to win and progress. Fiorentina come to Bayern Munich of the back for 2 draws and 4 wins in there last 6 games, which sees them sitting 2nd in division 2. Bayern munich sit pretty in 2nd place also, but in division 1, the highest league. They come into this game following 2 draws, 3 wins and 1 loss in there last 6 games.

Campbell expects a good performance of Gomez

All odds make Bayern Munich clear favourites, but Fiorentina are on fire as of late so Bayern Munich gaffer Campbell will not be taking them as 'easy opponents'. Campbell is expected to use a christmas tree formation, with Klose being the striker supported by Toni and Gomez. Ribery and Robben are out on the wings in this game, with Tymoschuk playing as the defensive midfielder. The back expectedly consists of Lahm, co-captain Demichelis, Van Buyten and Pranjic, with Rensing between the posts.

Other EE League Cup fixutres

FC Porto - Manchester City

Arsenal - Lyon

Inter - Chelsea

FC Porto, who are 5th in Division 2 play host to Manchester City, in the all Division 2 clash of the Quarter-Finals. City sit one place above FC Porto.

Arsenal, 8th in Division 1, will be hosting Lyon at The Emirates stadium, with Lyon sitting 4 places above them in 4th position in the all Division 1 clash.

The tough fixture of the EE League Cup see Inter host Chelsea at the San Siro, Inter sit bottom of Division 1, and have just become managerless, which Chelsea hope to capitalise on. Chelsea currently sit in 6th position in division 1.

Re: European Elite League

Fiorentina Cause A Huge Upset

Fiorentina 2 - 1 Bayern Munich

A.Mutu 56,59

M.Klose 66

Mutu celebrates with the fans at full time

Today saw Campbell's idea of a dream start go down the pan when, after a boring first half, Fiorentina woke up and pushed the game. Bayern Munich didn't realise they were in a game until a double by Mutu in 3 minutes woke them up, but these two goals proved to be fateful to Bayern Munich's cup run. Klose pulled one back in the 66th minute, but this turned out to be only a consolation goal.

Campbell seemed disgusted with his players at full time, having reportedly shouted at his players,

You call that a match? We didn't match them, they simply were laughing at us the second half! We cannot expect teams to roll over and allow us to walk to the goal, we have to play for it! You are not going to like what happens in training tomorrow!

When asked if this alleged statement was true, Mr Campbell told reporters that they were, then went on to say

I feel let down. I cannot fathom it. I don't think there was anything wrong with my tactics and team choice, I just think some players were not so hungry for the game, hungry for the ball, which then ended up spreading like a disease through the team. There will be changes, maybe transfers, tactical or team changes, who knows. Pranjic was a huge let down, at fault for one goal and getting a silly yellow card, and also Rensing didn't seem to be able to cope. There are other issues I will be addressing too.
