Re: Gold Championship 73 |Official Thread|Match Reports|News|

Darlington Update:

Darlington still in with a shout with ten games to play although key injuries leave strength diminished:

League:

Been a long time since I last wrote and this period has seen twelve games played in which Darlington have amassed a decent enough 25 points in this period. key wins have included a victory at Liverpool and in our last game Manchester United meaning we have beaten United,Chelsea,Arsenal,City and Liverpool away this season. We have however also suffered some bad away days at Tottenhamand Villa and a disastrously bad 3-0 home reverse to unmanaged Hull in this period.

These results have seen Darlington stay in the Champions League spots currently sitting in 2nd place three points behind leaders Aston Villa, Darlington having narrowed the gap from seven points a few games ago. Liverpool are hot on our heels four points back before a decent gap to the likes of Arsenal,United, Lincoln and Watford all contesting for that fourth Champions League slot.

English Cup:

Darlington have progressed through to the last sixteen with a routine win over Oxford and by yet again turning over Arsenal where the Moussa's done all the damage with Sissoko and Sow turning around a first half defecit. A decent effort as we have been playing understrength in this tournament with the likes of Savic,Strootman and Damaio all coming to the fore. Stoke City await in round four.

The squad has seen oner major arrival in the form of Nuri Sahin who joined for a club record 43M. other arrivals have been about improving the youth squad with Ross Barkley and Juan Bernat being the most notable acquasitions. There have been a few departures with the major ones seeing Alvaro Dominguez leave for Lazio in an 18M deal and Armin Bacinovic head to Spain to play for Celta Vigo for a fee of 13.5M

Darlington's prospects have been dealt a hammer blow with serious injuries to two of the clubs star men and first choice wingers Hungarian Winger Dzudszak and Juan Mata who unfortunatly is out for the rest of the season.

Chester FC

A team with only a 5K Stadium but had a good amount of cash, was the lowest rated team in England when I took over, chairman said don't finish last.

(Some Signings)

Manchester United - Oscar De Marcos: The 22 year old Spanish star has joined for 4.3M (CMV) there coach took a 2M drop on him, and he is rated 86 has a valu over 9M here a bit of nice work there.

Southampton - Rickie Lambert: 17 goals this season in the championship, has been linked with a move to Norwich or Fulham in Jan feel he will stay with Southampton (1st in the championship) and thay will hed up, hope he gets his change before then 82/84 right now but can easy be a 85/87. The England star cost a mear 2.1M will rip up the leagues down here.

Lokomotiv Moskva - Alan Gatagov - The 20 year old brings somthing new too the team, he is rated 84 and was being tacked in the game world from Barcelona. The 4.9M we payed will be well worth its wait in gold, and is a small time investment.

We have also signed another 45 players costing all together with them three on top 18.5M, the over all Value is 30.8M so a nice little money erner there.

Chester FC -

We have signed 22 year old Franck Tabanou for just under nine million, he is by far the best signing here and we hope to use him for a 90+ when off his TFB. I am happy with my deals this season and now too push for league two football next season.

Darlington Update:

Darlo steadily improving and in with a shout.

Been a long while since I wrote about this side, to long but with a little time on my hands an update of what has been happening.

League:

Darlington finished last season with a highly credible 83 points to finish as runners-up in there maiden Premier League season. A terrific effort but not enough to get close to deserved champions Aston Villa who were terrific all season. Although dissapointing it was another step for Darlington as we qualified for the Champions League.

This season saw a very slow start by Darlington who managed to amass only nine points from our first seven games. This led to calls for change and change we did as we tinkered with our style. This has brought about a much needed and improved Darlington as the manager, players and fans have all pulled together to initiate a top class run of form which has seen us turn on the style.

After 30 games this season Darlington sit top of the pile six points clear of defending Champions Aston Villa and a further three points clear of Watford (who we beat last time out in a vital game) and our companions in the rise to the Premier League a brilliantly managed Lincoln City. The established big guns trailing in the wake of the new breed.

We have a very difficult run-in which poses enough problems to not be to confident, although in a decent run we still do not posess a team as good as many others but we are a very decent squad with spirit, heart and a will to win not to mention quality players. We will need to keep our focus and composure as the pressure mounts.

English Shield/English Cup.

The English Shield campaign brough about comfotable victories over Newcastle and Crystal Palace before we were extremely fortunate to nudge past Ipswich on penalties in the last 16. However that luck turned as were eliminated in the last eight by great rivals Aston Villa on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw in normal time.

The English Cup campaign is still ongoing we have navigated our way to the Q/F and a tricky tie with Everton after thumpings of Liverpool, Exeter and Wolverhampton Wanderers as Darlington look for there second FA Cup triumph.

Champions League:

Darlington are thoroughally enjoying there trip into the unknown as the glory of the Champions League makes it's way to Darlington. We safely negotiated a relatively kind group stage draw with ease, before seeing off FC Koln in the last sixteen relatively comfotably. The last eight draw saw us paired with Italian Giants Napoli in perhaps the biggest game ever to be played at the Darlington Arena we have put ourselves in with a great shout of reaching the last four after a scintilating display sees us head to Naples with a 6-2 lead to defend.

Transfers and Squad:

This season has seen three major transfer deals completed, first was the arrival of Luis Suarez who arrived in exchange for Nuri Sahin and 5m.

This was shortly followed by the arrival of Thiago from Juventus in a deal which saw 2m+Moussa Sow head to Italy.

The latest deal saw the highest profile player ever to arrive at Darlington as Mesut Ozil arrived from Hamburg in a deal which saw Juan Mata and Luis Gustavo head to Germany, it is anticipated Ozil will make his debut away to Liverpool tonight.

Other notable arrivals have seen prospects such as Adam Maher, Ola John, Eric Bautheac, Patricio Rodriguez all arrive as the squad continues to get stronger.

73WATFORD-1.jpg

Watford need to match Lincoln's result on the final day of the season to secure a 2nd consecutive champions league place. We are away at 5th placed Spurs whilst Lincoln entertain 2nd placed Aston Villa.

A great win over Lincoln last week was quickly forgotten after losing at home to unmanaged Birmingham this week when a win would have secured a top 4 finish.

Last 6 games >>>>

D1 (A) WON 3-1 V LEICESTER (Seedorf, Felipe, D'Agostino)

D1 (H) LOST 0-1 V LIVERPOOL

D1 (A) DREW 1-1 V ASTON VILLA (Benatia)

D1 (H) WON 5-1 V CHELSEA (Dias, Cardozo x2, Benatia, Seedorf)

D1 (A) WON 3-1 V LINCOLN (Reyes x2, Reus)

D1 (H) LOST 1-2 V BIRMINGHAM (Dias)

Darlington GC 73

The rise to the top is complete....2 down one to go (fingers crossed)

Tonight Darlington fresh off the back of winning the FA Cup yesterday lined up yet again against the beaten finalists Leeds United at Elland Road in a game Pauley and his side know would determine the fate of the title. A draw would be enough for Darlington provided they performed to there capabilities and without nervousness.

Darlington already with the boost of the FA Cup in the bag were further boosted by the arrival of Marek Hamsik who joined the quakers in a deal which saw Jack Rodwell & Sergio Canales head to premier League rivals Chelsea.

Darlington lined up with the following side:

Mandanda

Rami

Sakho

Lombaerts

Phil Jones

Marek Hamsik

Jack Wilshere

Mario Gotze

Mezut Ozil

Gamerio

Alexis Sanchez

In truth Darlington on the day were majestic and ran out convincing winners with goals from Ozil, Gamerio and a brace from substitute, world's best player and a genuinely nice man Luis Suarez sealing a 4-1 triumph and sending Darlington shooting to the Premier League Title.

"The club, the fans, players and staff here are genuinly delighted, we have worked so hard for this moment all the sacrifice and effort has been worthwhile. We can be rightfully proud the way the club has evolved and grown has made me a very proud man, we wont rest on our laurels and celebrations will be muted as we have a very very very important game on Monday"

This culminates the start of a massive journey for Darlington which has seen our progress go as follows.

Season 1- Div 5 winners, FA Cup winners

Season 2- Div 4 winners, Charity Shield Winners

Season 3- Div 3 winners

Season 4- Div 2 Winners

Season 5- Div 1 Runners Up

Season 6- Div 1 Champions, FA Cup Winners & Champions League (??)

Re: Gold Championship 73 |Official Thread|Match Reports|News|

Been in charge of Shakhtar for a while now, managed to get together a half decent squad ratingswise, just full of fairly old or rubbish players :(

Pulled the club out of the relegation zone and should really be pushing for a top 4 place by the end of the season,

Still here at Watford. Kicked off season 8 with a 1-0 win over Leeds and face off against Groningen on Monday to kick-off our SMFA Shield campaign.

Strongest first XI is currently .....
