Manchester United crowned English champions again

Manchester_United_Premier_League_Champions_20_863950-thumb-425x318-89386.jpg

Manchester United have won the English league yet again, it was the season everyone dreaded, the season Sir Alex Ferguson finally left the club and left them in the charge with Rhys Evans some people doubted Evans even though he had been at the club for years.

But Evans didnt dissapoint because last night United were crowned Englsh champions for the 4th time in a row. It was a tough season for Evans has he played for all the cups and faced stiff opposition in Liverpool even though United got the upper hand over his rivals in both league games it was Liverpool who knocked United out of both the English Cup and Shield, the Shield being in the final.

One man who stood out for United was Wayne Rooney, the english FWD got the Golden boot for the season and was awarded Best Player, him and brasilian sensation Luis Fabiano were a sensational partnership and not many defences could handle them. A special mention would have to go out to Alexander frei who was brought in as a gamble by Evans, Frei sure repaid his manager making 26 apperances(15 as a sub) scoring 9 goals and providing for 15.

Darlington are on there way to Wembley :)

FA CUP S/F- Darlington 3 Southampton 2

In a dramatic afternoon the two lower league sides met up in what could prove to be a defining day in either clubs history as the opportunity to get to a cup final was at stakle an opportunity that clubs like Darlington/Southampton do not get very often.

Darlington lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation strengthend by the loan signings of Leo, gago and Baptista from Real madrid and Roma respectively as Pauley used his contacts to get a bit more class for the big occasion, it was tough on a few of the players who missed out but the team has to come first.

GK- Julio Sergio

RB- Sergio Oier

LB- Olksandr Volkovy

CB- Lacerna Leo

CB- Alberto Botia

Lm- Alec Maykon

RM- Oscar De Marcos

CM- Fernando Gago

CM- Claudio Mosca

FW- Emmanuel Villa

FW- Julio Baptista

Some may have thought that the occasion would get to Darlington but that was far from the case as Darlington produced an opening spell of football that simply blew Southanpton away. Two goals from Emmanuel Villa and a debut strike by Julio Baptista saw darlington confound all expectations and romp into a 3goal lead after only 20mins.

Darlington proceeded to dominate the rest of the game both in terms of posession and attempts on goal as all areas of the pitch were working well and Darlington were coasting to victory but for a late fightback by the Saints as goals from Paranaby and Lambert caused a few flutters in the Darlington bench and crowd ut despite a very nervous end to the match Darlington held on to claim a famous victory.

Darlington will now face the mighty Aston Villa at Wembley on Tuesday evening who beat Wigan Athletic 3-1 in the other semi final.

" We are over the moon, this season has gone better than anybody could have expected, make no mistake this is no fluke we have earnt and battled our way to the final and deserve to be here, we will be monumental underdogs in the final and rightly so as Aston Villa are a classy outfit with quality players all over the pitch but I have faith in my players we are a fantastic unit and make no mistake Villa will know they are in for a tough encounter. We are one step from creating history and it could be the biggest achievement of all time but we ne to keep the boys focused and if we play to our strengths then maybe, just maybe we can create a massive shock"

It is also rumoured that Darlington are very close to securing two high profile signings as they look to strengthen for next season's campaign.

Darlington shock the world by lifting the FA CUP

FA CUp final- Wembley Stadium- Aston Villa 0 Darlington 1

On a bright sunny afternoon Darlington took to the field against mighty ASton Villa who quite rightly were overwhelming favourites to lift the Cup, Darlington were enthralled by there run and there was a real party atmosphere amongst the mass Darlington contingent who had travelled over 300miles to support the boys in the most historic day in the club's history.

The team Line Ups were as follows:

Villa- Friedel, Young, Warnock, Davis, Legroteeli, Sissoko, Modric, Poulsen,

Trezaguet, El Hamdaoui, Schaars

Darlington- Sergio, Oier, Volovyk, Botia, Leo, Mosca, De Marcos, Gago, Baptista,

Villa, Maykon- playing subs- Casco, Rodriguez,

The game started in a slow fashion with both sides proceeding to just get a feel of the surrounding in this fervent atmosphere, however as the Game continued it soon became apparent that Darlington were not only matching there illustrious counterparts but actually taking charge of the game and then the moment came in the 41st minute the moment that changed history and brought joy and delight to all Darlington fans as Baptista raced onto a through ball from Mosca and calmly placed the ball past the motionless friedel.

There was a short silence, before the Darlington end erupted in unbridled joy scarcely able to believe what they are seeing. Darlington the proceeded to keep playing in the same positive fashion in the 2nd half, many expected Villa to storm back but this was not the case as Darlington continued to control the game and despite a few nervy moments late on held on for possibly the biggest shock the world has ever seen.

"It is unbelievable, simply unbelievable this is beyond our wildest dreams and expectations, to win the League ws the target but to do a domestic double beating the likes of Man City, Portsmouth, tottenham, Aston Villa we have shown what a good team we are. Many of our players are unheralded but no matter what happens they will all be rightly regarded as Legends by the Darlington fans and what a day for them, they have suffered big style throughout there history but this is just the start they deserve this and we will continue to try and progress again, this club is all about progression, it is near enough going to be impossible to match this season but rest assured we will do everything in our power to kick on again"

New season same old story:

Darlington lift the Charity Shield

We just keep upseting the big boys :P

Charity Shield- Darlington 2 Man Utd 1

Darlington went back to Wembley again as masive underdogs to contestthe charity shield final on a fine sunny afternoon. United showed Darlington the utmost respect by playing a full team but yet agin Darlington and there manager came up with some well thought out plans to lift Darlington's 3rd piece of silverware in an amazing story.

Darlington never looked overawed and opened the game in frantic fashion pushing Utd on to the defensive and proving more than a match for the Champions of England. This pressure was rewarded through goals by Xandao and Villa the South American connection firing Darlington into a 2goal lead. Despite the inevitable 2nd half onslaught from United Darlington held on despite a goal from Rooney to secure yet another famous victory as the fairytale continues.

Division 4- Matchday 1- Darlington 1 Bury 0

A 2nd string Darlington took to life in the higher division like a fish to water as they comprehensively outplayed Bury and should have won by more. As it was a goal from young Nigerian midfielder Lukman Haruna made the difference as Darlington made the best possible start to the League Campaign.

SMFA Shield 1st Round 1st leg- Bayern Munich 1 Darlington 1

After the jubilation of the FA Cup win Darlington made it into Europe and were rewarded (if you can call it that) with the hardest draw they could have faced away at German giants Bayern Munich fielding a wealth of top class players. As it was Darlington are becoming used to such tasks and again set about creating history as the lowly English minnows ruffled Bayern's famous feathers and were unfortunate to only come away with a draw despite dominating the match stats.

Bayern edged ahead undeservedly just before half time and in a real show of charachter Darlington came back with a goal from new signing Jacob Lensky and created plenty more chances, but a draw is a fabulous result and sets up for an intriguing 2nd leg, Bayern will be huge favourites, but we have heard that before and Darlington have the belief that the impossible can become possible ;):)

Pre season news saw the arrival of 6new faces at Darlington all with potential to rise and should play an importnat role for Darlington in the future months:

Necip Uysal a 19yr old midfielder joined for £175k from Turkish giants Besiktas, Pauley is said to have been impressed by the young player and is confiddent under proper nurturing he can prove to be a star act in the future.

Ludovic Sane 23yr old 74Rtd CB joins from a free agent for £275k and Pauley sees a huge role for him in the future as a huge riser and brings experience of top level football to the table.

Jacob Lensky arrives for 1.8m from FC Utrecht the 21yr old 80 rtd LM/LB again has huge potential and will be an importnat first XI Player.

Antonio Bedoya is a young player signed from Sweden for 400K 75rtd mid has already played for the USA national team and again could prove to be a useful asset given time to develop.

A double swoop in Argentina was also completed as darlington secured the services of 2hugely promising Argentine CB's In Errasumpe and Meza who both have had fantastic scouting reports and will be part of Darlington's youth academy, as will perhaps the biggest signing of the summer Washington Silva the young 17yr old Forward joining for a club record 4.1m. The boy is hugely talented and rejected overtures from clubs such as benfica, rennes in a clear indication of how far Darlington have come as he ses that this is the best place to develop as a footballer and Darlington fans are in for a treat mark my words

Darlington Update:

Great start in the League and another Cup Upset by the Quakers :)

League Matchday 2- Yeovil Town 0 Darlington 1

A single goal again proved to be the difference as darlington's solid defence again provided the platform on which victory was forged. The crucial moment came halfway through the first half when LM Maykon ran through and slotted in the goal that proved decisive. In truth Darlington held on with ease and was a great result after the exertions in Munich only 2days before.

League Matchday 3- Bristol Rovers 1 Darlington 4

Darlington made it 3from 3 in the League with a comprehensive victory at the Memorial Ground. darlington fielded a few players making there first appearences of the season in Juarez and Bacca and they did not disappoint firing Darlington into a 2goal lead before further strikes from Talented young wingers Colak and Oscar De Marcos sealed the win.

English Shield Round 2- Darlington 1 Bristol City 0

Darlington caused another major cup upset as Bristol City went the same way as there neighbours Bristol Rovers. A solitary goal from summer signing Jonathon Biabany late in the piece proved enough to add the scalp of the League 2 side to all the others that Darlington have caused and a tie at home to Morecombe awaits in Round 3.

Darlington currently sit in 3rd in Div 4 with the maximum points avlaible but behind Lincoln and Walsall on GD at this early stage of the season

Darlington Update

Brave defeat in Europe and on the wrong end of a cup shock

League Matchday 4- Darlington 5 Oldham 2

A fantastic game swung Darlington's way as they romped to a victory against the Latics. Darlington were 3-0 up within half hour after strikes by Colak and 2 by Carvalho Alan, however Oldham threatened a revival as they fought back to 3-2 however further strike from Alan completing his Hat-trick and Argentine FB casco completed the win.

SMFA Shield 1st Round 2nd Leg- Darlington 1 Bayern Munich 2 (Agg 2-3)

Darlington on the biggest night seen at the Darlington Arena for many a year bravely went out of Europe as bayern scraped through by the skin of there teeth. After a 1-1 draw at the Alienz arena the impossible was again made to look possible as Darlington took the lead through Oscar De Marcos halfway through the 2nd half however Bayern showed there class immediately roaring back and goals from Olic and Tymoschuk broke Quakers hearts and the European adventue to an end.

League Matchday 5- Darlington 6 Stockport 0

Darlington wasted little time coming over the defeat to Bayern as a completely changed line up took Stockport apart and continued Darlington's magnificent home League Form. Braces from Edouard Butin on his first ap[pearence this season, Carvalho Alan and debut goals for new signings Phil Jones and Gaston Ramirez completing the rout.

English Shield Round 3- Darlington 0 Morecombe 0 (Pens 1-4):(

After inflicting so many upsets in cups and having a real affinity with them it came as something of a shock that darlington meekley went out of the shield with a tame penalty-shoot out defeat to tiny Morecombe. Darlington fielded many fringe players and they put in a tame performance creating little and it was Morecombe who held there nervs in the penalty shoot-out to send Darlington disappointingly out at the 3rd round stage.

League Matchday 6- Rochdale 0 Darlington 3

Darlington got back to winning ways with a comfotable win away at Rochdale. Oscar Sielva opened the scoring before summer signing Jonathan Biabany scored a brace to ease Darlington to a comfotable 3points.

League Matchday 7- Darlington 3 Hartlepool 1

Darlington produced yet another commanding home display to see off Jeff Stelling's Hartlepool :P Darlington as so often at home opened at a breakneck pace and Hartlepool were unable to cope as darlington were creating chances at will. Goals from Villa, Velasquez and Mosca in the first half put Darlington out of sight and Hartlepool amnaged a consolation goal as Darlington eased off in the 2nd half.

These results see Darlington sit top with a maximum points total of 21, 2points clear of Lincoln who appear likely to be the main challengers to Darlington as they have taken to life in Div 4 like a Duck to water and already look likely candidates for there 2nd successive promotion.

Cant be bothered to write all on my own but Dalington are continuing to progress and are looking nailed on to gain a 2nd successive promotion. We are currently locked in a big battle with n extremely well managed Lincoln who like us are seeking successive promotions. Lincoln sit a point clear of darlington with 23games gone and it looks like it will be a close battle right to the end between these old rivals.

darlington's squad continues to progress as they look to strengthen in all areas with there aggressive buy and sell recruitment policy.

The general best line up although rarely played currently is:

GK- Sergio 86

RB- Congre 88

Darlington Season 2 end of season report

Darlington crowned Div 4 Champions

At the end of a close run affair Darlington managed to grab the Div 4 title from perrenial challengers Lincoln City by the slender margin of two points after a late run of 12 successive victories managed to overhaul the fantastic challenge from a great Lincoln side.

Darlington ended there league campaign with a magnificent 101 points only dropping 13points all season. Key to the title success was two victories over there main rivals in Lincoln which were especially satisfying as Lincoln posess a fantastic side. The 2-1 away victory at Lincoln towards the end of the season proving pivitol.

The Cup campaigns unsurprisingly could not equal last years unprecendented successes with early exits in both competitions disappointingly to low level sides.

The Darlington fans are said to be ecstatic at the second successive League title and the role of Honour after 2seasons at Darlington reads as follows:

1 x Div 5 title

1 x Div 4 title

1 x FA Cup

1 x Charity Shield

The team has changed out of all recognition with Pauley managing to pull off even more transfer coups as Darlington continue to improve and bring in players with real ability and a fantastic resale value. The current first team reads as follows:

GK- Julio Sergio 89

RB- Congre 88

LB- De Vrij 80

CB- Botia 87

CB- Sane 85

RM- Ander Herrera 87

CM- Elias 87

CM- N Dinga 86

LM- James Rodriguez 87

CF- Wellington 90

CF- Lukaku 87

Bench includplayers of the calibre of Haruna, Interussupe, Juan Dominguez, Ramires, Xandao, Smalling, Washing Silva, Oscar De Marcos, Phil Jones and a few more promising youth talents.

Pauley is said to be planning his next big signing and the aim for next season is simple a 3rd succesive promotion which Pauley believes his squad is well capable off and ho to give the wonderful people of Darlington even more reason to be proud of there local side.

Man Utd do it again

Manchester+United+v+Arsenal+Premier+League+6DaBOjdgcWfl.jpg

Another succesful Premier League campaign for Man Utd see's them crowned Premiership Champions but it was a close one with none other than Bolton Wanderers topping the league going into the final game of the season. Before going into the game Evans knew that anything less than a win wouldnt do as Bolton had a point lead, but Evans' good mate at Watford Steve Stifler gave Rhys the luck he needed by drawing 1-1 with Bolton and Manchester United winning 2-0 away to Sheffield United.

United weren't as dominant as last season but then changes at the top clubs wouldnt have helped with Romano Valente stepping down from close rivals Man City and Kevin Stubbles leaving his post at Chelsea, this meant that Evans had a different type of opposition but the new managers were still capable.

There was another outstanding season from Wayne Rooney, leading the top scorers with 19 goals but Rooneys had an up and down season, he was nowhere near as prolific as last season but still a good season from Wayne. One man worth mentioning for the Red Devils was the veteran Edwin Van Der Sar, the 39 year old was vital for United this season and he looked as good as he ever has.

But Evans was still disapointed by the cup showings by his team only reaching the 2nd round of the Carling cup, and a abismal 2nd round exit by Lyon from the Champions League left Evans fuming, they did manage to reach the quater final of the FA Cup but knocked out by close rivals Man City but then again Evans had his sights set on the league before the game.

All in all Evans a little disapointed with no other cups, just a mirror image of the last. Man Utd did manage to make three signings at the end of last season..

28908_1276356289.jpg34265_1271944400.jpg36176_1277155754.jpg

Neven Subotic, Alan Dzagoev and Georgi Schennikov all joined from CSKA Moscow, will be interesting to see how Evans will use these next season.

Darlington Update

Darlington look forward to Life in the third tier of English football after successive champpionships in Div 5 and then Div 4 respectively, we found time to have a quick word with Quakers boss Ray Pauley ahead of his side's first game of the season on Saturday against Leeds United.

Q) Two successive Championships, how proud are you of the lads??

A) Extremely proud, all the players who have come and gone from this club have done terrifically well. We are well on course for where we want to be, ahead in some respects but it is importnat to keep our feet on the ground and keep searching to go forward as a club.

Q) What are your targets for the season ahead?

A) Promotion simply, we will always aim high it is importnat to set your expectations high as anything else is a recipe for failure, I feel that the playing staff we have is certainly good enough to mount a promotion challenge for sure.

Q) Who do you expect to be the main rivals?

A) Lincoln again who have joined us with 2 successive promotions, the manger there has built a wonderful squad and they are extremely strong and will take a world of beating, other sides such as Leeds, Reading and preston will bring about big challenges this season.

Q) Unbelievably you have pulled off a major addition to the squad??

A) The major news is the signing of young Spanish Superstar Sergio Canales, we are delighted to secure the signing of one of the world's leading talents and very glad that he has bought into what we are trying to achieve here, i expect him to be a star for many seasons to come and the Darlington fans can well be excited at such a capture.

Q) Any other transfer news??

A) yes Lukman haruna has left the club joining Atletico Bilbao for 9.2m, Sane also leaves for Bilbao with Slovakian CB hubocan who i have high hopes for jopining whilst young Croatian Goalkeeper Antaluvic leave for Porto in a deal worth 6m. We are always actively looking for improvements and there may be more fortcoming in the next few weeks.

IAQUINTA TO JOIN WATFORD

After a long search, I have finally managed to bring in a 90+ rated player - Vincenzo Iaquinta will join from Milan with Koscienly and Ruiz heading to the San Siro in exchange.

Dissappointing to lose young Ruiz, but with Schmelzer/Kobin/Khacheridi, defence is the one area where I do have other options.

Watford lose at home to champs Man Utd but with two games to go are now assured SMFA Shield football next year as Rhys' United side have also won the Shield meaning the lowest the Hornets can finish is 10th and 10th=SMFA Shield.

Looking to swap either Luis Felipe or Marcel Schmelzer for a Gk or CM or CF of similar stature.

In a tight tense finish to the season Darlington led major rivals Lincoln by a point going into the final day of the season. A tough away day at Charlton stood between darlington and the title. Things looked to be heading to plan when Brazilian superstar Welinton put the Title contenders ahead, however against the run of play Charlton equalized, couple with Lincoln winning darlington knew they had to win to secure the title.

Time was slipping away and it looked as though disappointmentawaited however in a final throw of the dice pauley throw on mlapa for lukaku and the sub came up trumps with an 84th minute winner to secure the match and fire darlington into the championship as Champions!!

"It was a tough season, Lincoln were fantastic rivals and sides such as Leeds and Preston provided good competition, so to win the tile is very sweet and our winning mentality continues, it will be a lot tougher next season and we will need to build again to try and prepare ourselves for the immense challenge of the championship. We have to be "smart" in the market and hopefully be even stronger.

The transfer activity has already begun in the lead-up to next season. the sale of James Rodriguez,Mlapa and Congre has brought major funds to the club some of which have been invested in Lewis Holtby and mamadou sakho. pauley has also promised one BIG signing before the season starts. We have our eye on a few players and have got the necessary funds, if the right player becomes available rest assured he WILL be coming to darlington, as my chairman is more than happy to better any other bidding clubs valuation.

Watford lose 3-0 @ Man Utd on the opening day of the season - not surprised as United are a better team, and I didn't play any first team outfield players ahead of a 1st leg SMFA Shield tie with AEK on Monday

Watford are having a 'mare at the minute. Sitting in a miserable 16th place just 2 points off the drop zone - with just 3 wins from 12 games.

It could be worse, I could be Arsenal who are sat bottom and are still yet to win.
