Huddersfield Slip Up But Colchester Fail To Capitalise!

After Huddersfield had a poor result away at Oldham, many had expected Colchester to retain their place at the top of the table, but they received a 4-1 drubbing at home to Derby County meaning Huddersfield are now 2 points clear despite failing to win. However the chasing pack of Plymouth, Nottingham Forest and Charlton all made up ground.

Huddersfield fans will all be sat at home filled with excitement as new and popular manager Michael Eyre revealed there will be some "interesting" transfer incomings in the coming days. Glen-Johnson-Liverpool-presentation_2326783.jpg

Huddersfield Town have pulled off one of the biggest transfer shocks in recent times, after Michael Eyre secured the signature of English full back Glen Johnson. Some sceptics have questioned the timing of the move with the world cup being less than a year away. Johnson responded by saying, "I feel that if i play well here than i am still a contender for a world cup place, the minute the gaffer spoke to me i knew this was a project i wanted to join. I am really happy about the move as i had not been enjoying my football at Juventus". Huddersfield paid a reported £7.7 million for the right back, a new club record fee.

Huddersfield Shock England With Record Transfer!

Huddersfield Sign Fiorentina Wonderkid Jovetic

Once again Huddersfield have delved into the transfer market and pulled off another major coup. This time it takes the form of Montenegran wonderkid Stevan Jovetic, who has just turned 20. He cost an estimated club record fee of £10 million, but it has yet to be confirmed. This also leaves manager Michael Eyre with a nice selection headache over which forward to play out of Muriqui and Gilmar - Muriqui being top performer but Gilmar being top goalscorer.

Huddersfield's reserves stepped in tonight to cover a first team that couldn't play due to poor fitness, but in the circumstances they stepped in a put forward a claim to be first teamers themselves. After the disappointment of the defeat against Derby, fielding a weakened side could quite have easily backfired on rookie manager Michael Eyre but things got off to a flyer when winger Miroslav Stoch slotted home a clear cut chance after just one minute. For the majority of the game the midfield of both teams cancelled each other out until debutant teenager Romelo Lukaku scored a cracker of a goal just past the hour mark. Leeds came back fighting and scored a late goal in the 86th minute which made nerves at the Galpharm Stadium a lot worse. However they held on and remained 6 points clear of 2nd placed Barnsley, who recorded a 4-0 win away at Exeter City. The two sides actually meet on Wednesday in what is a massive game in terms of the title race.

Huddersfield Sign Talented Argentinian Playmaker!

Huddersfield Town Sign Javier Pastore From Palermo

javier_pastore.jpg

Huddersfield Town have captured young and talented attacking midfielder Javier Pastore from Italian outfit Palermo. It is believed that Huddersfield signed the player for a price in the region of £5.5 million and also beat competition from Liverpool and Spurs. In other news, the Terriers also signed gifted Portugese defender Daniel Carrico for around £4 million and Olympiacos striker Kostas Mitroglou for a fee of around £2.6 million. Michael Eyre had this to say, "I feel like the we have improved the squad as well as adding to the depth, i felt like we were a bit light going forward so that is why i brought in Pastore, who will be given his debut against Milwall and Mitroglou - who is one mainly for the future but who will be good backup. I also signed defender Carrico, just to add more competition for places at the back.

Huddersfield Town made light work of Millwall in tonights match, where debutant Javier Pastore showed his promise with a delightful man of the match performance. After a quiet first half, Huddersfield came out fighting and got their reward almost immediately when Jovetic pounced on a poor defensive header to half volley home. New boy Pastore then doubled the advantage in the 58th minute when he pounced on a rebound after the Millwall keeper spilled a long range effort. Jovetic then completed the scoring in the 74th minute with the best goal of the match after he beat 2 defenders before drilling the ball home. Huddersfield remain 8 points clear of Plymouth Argyle at the top of division 3, they next play Colchester United away from home, who are currently lurking in the last playoff place.

A second consecutive man of the match performance from Javier Pastore helped Huddersfield overcome a tricky and determined Colchester side. Pastore then restored Huddersfield's advantage with a delightful curling effort just 5 minutes later. Full back Glen Johnson then scored a diving header just after half time to make the score 3-1, Colchester did pull one back but didn't put much pressure onto the Huddersfield defence after that so they will go home with all 3 points.
