Re: GC75-Official Thread. News/Match Reports!

Managed to beat SC Freiburg 2-0 on the opening game of the season to put me 5th in the table.:)

Not a lot of transfers happening so far. Have swapped pander for thiago motta while bringing in leandro to replace Pander at LB. Only moments ago accepted a bid from Crystal Palace for Christian Erwig and I'm hoping to bring in a CM within the next week.

Tough game up next against Juve in the champions cup.

That's all for now folks;)

Lyon were looking for a new inventive successful manager to take them onto the next level and restore them to former glories unfortunatly they were left to take Pauley on board :P:p

Hamburg too strong for Gremio

610x.jpg

Hamburg players celebrated Pitroipa's opener

Tonight, Hamburger SV faced Brazilian side Gremio in the SMFA Shield Round 1first leg tie at the Nordbank Arena in Germany. Hunt decided to field a weaker team tonight because of a fitness issue with many of his first team players, so players like Guerrero, Pitroipa and Alex Silva all got a run out tonight in front of the home fans, but Hunt still named a couple of big name stars on the bench just in case.

Hamburg took the lead in the first minute when Jonathan PITROIPA struck from long-range. Hamburg then doubled their lead on the 23rd minute when central-midfielder Robert TESCHE taps the ball home from a few yards out to make it 2-0. Gremio didn't threaten the Hamburg goal in the first-half.

In the second-half Hunt decided to bring on Trochowski and Berg to get that 3rd goal to really see off the Brazilian side but they couldn't get it and the game ended 2-0 to Hamburger SV. In the second-leg Hunt's side have to travel to Brazil on the 20th November too try and get through to Round 2.

Shakhtar Run Riot in Liverpool

41987100.giflp1.png 2-4sd1i.png46038346.gif

Shakhtar went into the first SMFA group D game of the season expecing to qualify from the group stages.Olympiacos, Liverpool and Roma are the other three teams in the group. In a pre-match conference Shakhtar Gaffer Sean Campbell said he was expecting to take all 3 points from the game in Mersyside and that he would be fielding a Strong and young side.

The game started well for The Russians with Pereira Ilsinho hitting the side-netting after 2 minutes with a venomous twenty-five yard volley. Liverpool responded well though with Ryan Babel Coming close. However in the twenty-fifth minute a very well worked corner set up Mariusz Lewandowski to nod the visitors ahead. The home fans weren't best pleased but the 12,500 traveling fans were ecstatic. The Reds responded well however with an Andrea Dossena shot skimming the crossbar. The 'Pool equalised in the twenty-second minute after a swift counter attacking move Yossi Benayoun slammed home. Souza Luiz Adriano crashed a wonderful free kick off the bar. It was a fairly even game until Yossi Benayoun beat the offside trap to slide under the on-rushing 'keeper.Half Time came soon after. Shakhtar came out all guns blazing for the second half and had many chances and Souza Luiz Adriano was played through and dinked it over Pepe Reina with a Cheeky Chip. 2-2. A Ryan Babel effort is cleared off the line soon after. But in the 71st minute Oleksiy Gai curled home a stunner.2-3.With Shakthar's confidence after the 3rd goal Souza Luiz Adriano crossed near-post to Vyacheslav Shevchuk who converted with a diving header.

Hamburg triumph in Enke Testimonial!

hsv_tel_berg_elia_345.jpg

Hamburg players celebrate Elia's goal together in a tough time for German football

Tonight, Hamburger SV lined up against Hannover 96 at the AWD Arena. The game was under serious doubt of going ahead after the whole of the footballing world was shocked to here of the news that Hannover and Germany goalkeeper Robert ENKE had committed suicide, many feared he had suffered from depression. The fans and players of both clubs took part in a minutes silence before the game, and the game was a testimonial for the keeper.

Well back to the game, and Hamburger took the lead in just the third minute when young striker Eljero ELIA beat the offside trap to slot home. Just 10 minutes later Hamburg doubled their lead when Jonathan PITROIPA bagged his second goal in as many games. The two-goal lead didn't last long, and a minute later Hannover brought the scores back to 2-1 when Mario EGGIMANN nodded home. At the break the score was Hannover 96 1-2 Hamburger SV.

The home side came out for the second half determined to get the next goal and on the 53rd minute they did just that when Jiri STAJNER curls the ball into the net from outside the area. Hamburg took the lead in the match when Marcell JANSEN rose above the Hannover defenders to nod home Hamburg's third of the game which turned out to be the winner. At the full-time whistle the score was Hannover 96 2-3 Hamburger SV.

Hamburg manager Rhys Hunt spoke to SMTV after the game to comment on his teams performance and the tragic death of Robert Enke that has shocked the footballing world:

_________________________

"It's deeply saddening when something like this happens. My thoughts go out to his wife and child and all his family, and I speak on-behalf of the whole of Hamburger SV when I say that. It was a great game today and I'm proud of both sets of players because they lost a very close friend. This type of specticle would have been what Robert would've wanted, I'm sure".

I think this is a case of a "less knowledgeable" manager as opposed to blatant cheating. I saw the Ibisevic deal as I'm sure many others did and people seem to be trying their luck and inevitably succeeding. Unfortunately, there's nothing sending a ticket will do - if they are the deals he wants to do then who is to say he's wrong?

We all know the deals are shocking, but it's his squad to do with what he wants tbh.

Panathinaikos Collect All Three 3 Points with 7 Goals!

Panathinaikos beat Aris 7 to 1 to collect all 3 points and move up to 6th place in the Greek League. 6 games into the season, Panathinaikos sit just below half way on the league table with 8 points, 2 wins 3 draw and 1 loss. Their home record is unimpressive without a single win, drawing twice and losing once.

The capital based club is off to a rocky start, but manager Tadashi Beddie is not worried.

"We showed everyone what we are capable of with our win last night. The important thing, is that we have shown how offensive we are. Also, we did make into the next round of the SMFA Shield, which is very important for a club like us. It would be amazing to win the league and play in the Champions League next season, but our goal is to win some sort of trophy, and play in a SMFA tournament next season as well.

Panathinaikos host 2nd place AEK Athens next game.

Japan Cruise Past Latvia in WC Qualifier Group 12

The Japan National Team cruise past Latvia 3 goals to nil in Skonto Stadions. An Endo-less Japan dominated the Latvians. Yasuyuki Abe played a good game in place of the injured key man. Both players recently made moves to Europe, with Endo making a move into the big leagues in the form of Atletico Madrid, while Abe made a move to AEK Athens in Greece. Endo was injured during his second math of the season, a Spanish Shield match against Málaga. He should be back in time for the Cameroon match.

Bari sit comfortably at 10th in the Italian league despite taking the huge risk of selling their best players in favour for youth. A great weekend for the club see's them triumph 2-1 against Italian giants Fiorentina and agreeing a deal for Sebestian Blanco of Lanus. After starting the season with aims of simply staying in the Serie A, a successful start has seen them reaccess their aims and go for a SMFA shield spot.

Panathinaikos beat Rivals in Athens Derby!

Panathinaikos beat cross-city rivals in a very one-sided Athens Derby. Although Panathinaikos had the advantage in both possestion and total shots, the biggest difference was the difference of the shots on target. Panathinaikos had ten shots on target, most of which the AEK 'keeper Saja somehow managed to stop, except for one. On the other had, AEK had little power up-front as they failed to have any shots on target at all. Panathinaikos move up to 5th place.

Just a quick review of my progress so far with Schalke

League: Been very inconsistent in the league so far and I currently sit 10th in the league which is poor for the team of my quality. Play Hertha Berlin tonight which will be difficult aswell.

Shield: Done good so far. Cruised passed 2 2nd divison teams scoring 9 goals in the process. Much harder task against Dai's Bayern Munich in the quarter final though.

Cup: Not Started

SMFA Cup: Undefeated so far with a 1-0 win over Sao Paulo and a draw with Juve.

Dundee United v Aberdeen

S.ALUKO 9

C.MAGUIRE 14, 76

I.PERISIC 17

D.HOLM 57

Final Score 2 - 3

What a result! We travelled to a Dundee side lying in second spot in the table and looking very strong so I am very happy with this result. Maguire bagging a double in what will be his last game for the club. Aluko bagging another to make it 6 goals from 8 and put him at the top of the scoring charts. My new look team performing very well.

We now lie 3rd on 15 points, the same as second placed Dundee United and 4 points off 1st placed Celtic who got thrashed at home by arch rivals Rangers.

We have Celtic at home next and hopefully we can capitilise on there dissapointing defeat to the Gers.
