English Championship 4761 has been selected for a challenge that I have decided to make. The rules are as follows

The Challenge to prove you are the best manager on the SM Forum

A while ago there were a bunch of challenges made to forumers especially under the English Championship threads. I have decided to start another type of challenge.

The Idea

My idea is simple. Join English Championship 4761. Together everyone who accepts the challenge will take over a 4th division side.

The Rules

It won't be as simple as buying all the risers selling them off making a profit and rising up the ranks like that. There are a number of rules to follow

* Can only buy players from the same division as you are in (Division 4 for the first season, in season two if you are promoted you can buy players in Div 3 and 4)

* Each manager is allowed a maximum of 3 players from outside the setup, external clubs, (such as buying someone from La Liga or Seria A). if you buy a player from an external club e.g. Bojan and then sell him later in the season you can buy another player from external clubs. but you can only have a maximum of three players from external clubs at any time through out the season.

* All other transfers must be made from players inside the setup

* If a player is bought into the setup e.g. Bojan moving to Tottenham, then you are allowed to buy that player, he will not be part of the 3 player external club quota as he was in the setup at time of purchase.

* Can only loan players from the same division as your team

* NEW RULE: Can buy a maximum of 3 free agents who do not have a real life club

* Purchase of free agents who do have a real life club is unlimited

* The maximum rating to buy any free agent is 80

So join the challenge to prove that you are the best manager on the Forum

Managers currently in the challenge

1. KopStar- Swindon Town

2. Dean 89- Carlisle United

3. Lee Clark's Barmy Army- Notts County

4. SMB-Twsisted- Leyton Orient

5. inicikirock- Rochdale

6. swanseajack- Crewe Alexandra

7. legend_707- Shrewsbury Town

8. drseanfitz- Bradford City

9. david belkevitz- Hartlepool United

10. leedsfan93- Dagenham & Redbridge

11. Toonfanforlife -Brighton and Hove Albion

NOTE: If you still want to join just tell me and take a club!:D

Swindon Town appoint new manager

County Ground: The home ground of Swindon

Swindon Town have moved quickly to appoint unknown Aussie Jared as the new manager to take over from Danny Wilson, who walked out of the club. Jared was thrilled with the prospect of taking over the club. He said, "My aim is to build a good team to win promotion and who knows maybe we could be in the Premier League in for or so seasons!" The board have limited Jared to purchase a maximum of three foreign based players. It is rumoured that he will look to his home country to find these players with Clint Bolton, Carlos Hernandez and Robbie Fowler all being mentioned. Jared will have his first match in charge against Notts County on 7 November.

Carlisle appoint new manager

010361583647300.jpg

Carlisle United have appointed Dean Bryant as their new manager, according to reports. Bryant, 35, is an unknown to English leagues but has the experience managing minnow clubs in other countries like Singapore and Spain. The appointment has confirmed after Greg Abbott was sacked by the club hours ago. Bryant, who signed a three-season contract with Carlisle, said, "I am really excited about this club. The chairman has given me this great opportunity to be the club's manager and I am ready with the new chapter of my life. I've my own plan in building this small club and I hope we can make this club successful than the other previous managers done with this club. There is a lot of thing to do and we have already come out with our list of players that we think can bring this club forward."

Bryant will have his first match in charge against Stockport County on November 7. In other news, Carlisle's division rivals Swindon Town, who recently appointed Jared katzeff as their new manager, have made their official bid for defender Evan Horwood. It is understood that the deal is included with two unknown players.

Horwood deal agreed

Evan Horwood: set to move to Swindon Town if he passes a medical

Swindon Town have had their second bid for Carlisle United left back Evan Horwood accepted. The deal will see 200k and striker Billy Paynter move to Carlisle. Swindon, who lack a specialist left back will see the deal as a major boost to their defence. They do have three other strikers who are thought to be able to cover the loss of Paynter. Carlisle will view the move as major boost for their week forward line. The deal will result in the first signings for both new managers.

Re: EC 4761- The challenge to prove you are the best! Transfer/Gossip Thread

So you can only buy players from managed teams in the same division as you [or below] apart from the three external players?

where do external teams below or around you fit in? or free agents? these both count towards your three players?

You can buy as many players from the same division which is Division 4. External clubs in this rule include clubs who are not in the division that you're playing; Division 1, 2 and 3. You can buy 3 players from external clubs and if you sell one of the three players who previously bought from external clubs, you can purchase 1 new player from external club.

oh ok' date=' i thought players above you were just off limits..

what about;

unmanaged teams in the same league as you

unmanaged teams below you [external and unmanaged']

free agents

unmanaged teams in the same league as you - not external club

unmanaged teams below you - Are you managing a club above Division 4?

free agents - you have to ask the creator of this challenge, Jared.

non-league teams and teams not in your division are all considered external clubs for this challenge. Unmanaged teams in Division 1,2 and 3 are all considered as external clubs too.

ok cool. i kind of thought since 'if you are promoted to div 3, buying players from div 4 is okay' then you may be able to buy players from teams who are techincally below you may be ok too. no probs.

i have taken over the [doon to be]mighty leyton orient!

MANAGER FUMES OVER TRANSFER BALLS UP

Leyton Orient manager t_d woken up today to find his move for potential star winger Marcel Risse had fallen through.

"We had a bid for £300,000 on the table and their chairman wanted to play ball. We thought we were literally just waiting for it to be rubber stamped and a contract to be signed but when we woke up today their chaiman wanted 4 times that, its a ruddy outrage!"

Andrea Ranocchia

"This is a nice little italian i think the Brisbane Road faithful are gonna take to - a central defender in the italian tradition - calm on the ball, cultured in defence and capable of starting off a counter attack quickly, to move the bll round quick and keep the tempo up, the way we like to play.

We have a few other players from Div 4 coming in - ill tell you more about them once theyve arrived."

He may seem excited about the coming season, but you can just see its the one that got away that remains firmly in his mind.

Counter offer for Jordan Spence has been sent to the Swindon Town Manager.

Pedro to become a marquee at Swindon Town

Pedro: set to become the first of the 3 'marquee' players at Swindon

Shock and joy has arisen in the tiny base of Division 4 side Swindon Town's supporters after it was announced that rising Spaniard Rodriquez Pedro had signed for the club. Pedro will fill one of the 3 'marquee' positions in the squad as a player that was bought from a non-Division 4 side.

Manager Jared who earlier unveiled Evan Horwood as the first major signing uder his rein, said this about the signing of Pedro, "Its exactly what this team needs. A great rising talent to spearhead our season and become a key player in our quest for promotion. He truly will bring something special to this squad, and his experience of playing with players such as Xavi, Messi and Henry will be invaluable to this team.'

Aussie Shane Candsdell-Sheriff is also set to move to Swindon with a 550k fee being agreed to with Shrewsbury Town. Both deals are subject to a medical.

Re: EC 4761- The challenge to prove you are the best! Transfer/Gossip Thread

just looking at whos signed who for their 3 players so far

Swindon Town- Pedro

Carlisle United- Forbes, Coppens, Moritz

Leyton Orient- Ranocchina, Henderson

Notts County- Badstuber, Khacheridi, Carcela-Gonzalez

Interesting to see the types of targets but id say Pedro is the best purchase:P I've still got 2 to sign and Leyton have one, otherwise the rest have used their quota meaning the rest of their team will only be made of players in div 4.

tricky isnt it?

do you take three playes who may be with you all the way to the promised land of hte premiership' date=' or three players you can make a quick buck on?

decisions decisions.. :D

sent you a counter offer[/quote']

ye lol coz u could make heaps of money if u buy the really big risers and sell them and continually keep ur quota and buy the players with huge risers. i chose pedro coz he's awesome and will get a decent rise from 83 and looks like a huge talent. my other two players are making me loose sleep:D i want an aussie player from sydney fc (my local team) just so theres 2 players ive actually heard of in the team! but is it worth it if i can get a good riser instead. and i don't like u for beating me to badstuber. i just searched him to bid for him and i see a bid has already been accepted:mad: i've also noted that u've bidded for a bunch of players in div 4- good on ya for getting some more depth!:P

anyway i made another counter offer

its not me that got badstuber - ive gone for jordan henderson - hes gonna be my sole rep from sunderland' date=' the team i support [for my sins:rolleyes:']

its hard cuz having such small clubs with tiny revenue its gonna be hard if we dont constantly buy to sell.. but only having three spots means we can only sel one player a month!

i have a feeling that we're all gonna get so badly into debt that we cant even buy players somewhere down the line.. promotion in the fist season is an absolute must!!

i took a hamilton academical in a gold world once and its quite a struggle with a tiny stadium, you cant bring in any money unless youre selling constantly

o sorry confused u with Notts! Promotion is a must but i don't think we will plummet into depth so easily! if u buy wisely you won't be in debt. like for example im buying pedro for 1.7mil, my chairman values him at close to 6 mil and thats before he rises to mid 80's. meaning i could make a very healthy profit out of him. wat could be better for next season is to allow loans only between clubs managed by forumers to assist clubs still stuck in div 4. if i just made it to buy all the risers it'll be waaay to simple like with my rochdale. i sold the squad bought the best risers and now i have players like forlan, melo and simao in my team and im a good shout and 3 back-to-back promotions. the whole idea of this challenge was to take away the ease and make it really tough!

:( i saw the pic of spence in england gear and i was like i am so buying him! i was so close to such a good steal!

I Think Khacheridi will be the real star buy. He starts in all Dynamo Kiev matches and has started in the last two Ukraine internationals including their victory over our little island in the North Atlantic. Sorry about Badstuder, I only bid on players that haven't received bids already. You had only shown interest in him.

Carlisle sign Paynter as Swindon sign Horwood

010341682774400.jpg

Billy Paynter: Signed for Carlisle United

Evan Horwood has ended his speculation over transfer after his swap deal with Swindon's Billy Paynter was completed this afternoon. The 23-year-old defender and his English counterpart, 25, have switched clubs, with the Cumbrians - in addition - received an undisclosed cash sum, understood to be in excess of £200k. Horwood's departure comes a day after the Dean Bryant's appointment as the club's manager. Horwood becomes Bryant's first signing, and the Cumbrians boss is confident he can make a big impression at the Brunton Park.

Bryant told the club's website: "I think Billy can be a really good player for us. We are looking to add more option in the frontline and when Swindon offered Paynter as part of the offer, I was delighted as we are getting a very good player. He has the experience playing in higher divisions before during his spell with Southend United, Hull City and Port Vale. With his best years ahead of him, he is exactly the type of player we need for the long-term building of Carlisle United.

After the deal was agreed, Paynter paid tribute to the Swindon fans but confirmed he was "really unhappy" with his former boss Jared Katzeff. "The best thing for me was to move on," he told The Soccer Manager Times. "I was forced to leave the club when Jared was appointed as the manager. I was a bit disappointed when I heard that I was put in as the make weight for the transfer of Horwood.

Paynter, meanwhile, has backed Carlisle United to secure a promotion to Division 3 this season following the appointment of Dean Bryant. He continued: " I believe the club have made the best signing in Dean Bryant and I think he can bring this club to the next level. I had a long talk with him (Bryant) and I was pleased to hear their objective for this campaign and I want to be part of this club."

Carlisle are continuing working in the transfer market for the new campaign and three foreign players are reported to be on the verge of joining the club. Christoph Moritz, Ross Forbes and Jo Coppens are the players mentioned and they could join Paynter as the Carlisle's latest additions. In other transfer news, Craig Dawson has turned down an offer from Carlisle United and could sign for Leyton Orient in the next 12 hours.

Re: EC 4761- The challenge to prove you are the best! Transfer/Gossip Thread

It is difficult to buy players from League Two teams. A lot of the clubs do not have big enough squads to allow you to buy from them. I have tried to buy three players and got knocked back because their clubs squads had less than 21 players. Hard times for clubs in league Two eh!!!
