Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

Although this result doesn't prove much about the worth of using or not using Barracuda's guide' date=' it does amaze me that this 'poorly' rated team can do what my 'highly' rated team can't do when Barracuda's guide is forced to be implemented.

Nothing against Barracuda, but I am starting to believe that this site's AI engine is flawed. I much much much prefer 'Football manager 2010'. I am doing far better in that game than this one....and I rarely change formation during the match when playing there. I am getting about 70% wins after about 100 matches played. Won Serie A once (1st season) and runner up in 2nd season and am about to win it again with Juventus in my 3rd season. Won the Itaian Cup twice and runner up in the European Champions league once (on a penalty shootout).[/quote']

I've got 3 teams following this guide and 1 are league leaders, another are 6th and worst side are closing on the playoff zone!

This system is only a guide and also strange things can and do happen... It's football after all!!

You can't really compare one game with another, tactics wise, as they are likely very different game engines. What works on one isn't necessarily good for the other.

I think that this guide is a very good starting point for a teams tactics but you need to adapt it to your side and pretty much each game you play.

I'm sure it'll come good for you in the end!!

Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

I used this vs. Chelsea, a player team but it uses identical tactics as a computer team (4-4-2), normal/mixed on everything. I lost 2-1, but I had more shots at target =/ but anyway, my players all had 5 to 6, some 7 rating, and I play with Real Madrid, normally it's 7 to 9 =/

Why are my players bad? Do they have to get used to this tactic or is it just a one-off? Or is this tactic not suited for my team? I did a friendly against Bourdeux as well with this tactic and same thing, 5-6 ratings =/

Please help me out.

Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

Following what you mentioned for 3-5-2 formation tatics' date=' you said use the higher-rated foward as target man. What if both have the same rating?[/quote']

The thread-maker has left the forum, but I can help. :)

In your case, I wouldn't use a target man unless you have 1 CF. If you have 2 CF or 2 Forwards don't use a target-man, instead if your holding midfielder is quite highly rated, I would make him a playmaker.

If you really want to use a target man, pick the one with the best goal-scoring record. :)

Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

Kaka is a AM . why play him there ? I would put Messi as targetman as he is the higher rated forward . If Rooney was a CF i would choose him

Kaka should play at the centre midfield like Xavi. If you use target man, put Lionel Messi as TM, if you don't put target man, use Rooney as TM.:)

Maybe is because of the morale, they play against better team more well and underestimated the lousier teams. I'm not too sure too :(

Here is what i think...

4-3-2-1/4-3-1-2

Casillas

Sagna-Squilasi-varmalen-clichy

Fabregas-Diaby-Sneijder

Messi

Villa-Arshavin

Direct, Defensive, Normal, slow, own half, thru d middle, counter, man behind ball

4-3-1-2 use Messi as playmaker

4-3-2-1 use villa as targetman

sell almunia.. try to get a 91+ DM and then 93+ CB

Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

help required from experienced sm manager.

i've read that having better tactics will enable to win against better teams. so what should be the tactics in the given scenarios for success in the game. (just mention the tactics - no explanation required)' date=',,,

what would be the best tactics against:

OPPONENT WITH HIGHER RATING:

formation = 5-3-2

tackling style = HARD

mentality = DEF

passing style = DIRECT

attacking style = MIXED

tempo = NORMAL

pressing = OWN HALF

playstyle = C/A T/M U/P/M

OPPONENT WITH LOWER RATING:

formation = 3-5-2

tackling style = NORMAL

mentality = ATTACKING

passing style = DIRECT

attacking style = MIXED

tempo = FAST

pressing = ALL OVER

playstyle = T/M P/M/ U/T/M

OPPONENT WITH EQUAL RATING:

formation = 4-4-1-1-

tackling style = HARD

mentality = NORMAL

passing style = MIXED

attacking style = MIXED

tempo = SLOW

pressing = OWN HALF

playstyle = M/B/B P/M U/T/M

i've gone through several threads in tactical help section by several managers and they seen to be very helpful. but they are long and confusing to me. so i would really appreciate help!!!!!![/quote']

Here's a giude i use which works.

End Of The Line : A Summary

Therefore' date=' to summarize, these are the formations & tactics I suggest you try against unmanaged teams :

[b']At home :[/b] 3-5-2

Away : 4-4-2

In either case, use :

  • Tackling style : Normal (against lower-rated sides) / Hard (against similar or higher-rated sides)
  • Mentality : Normal (against lower-rated sides) / Defensive (against similar or slightly higher-rated sides)
  • Attacking style : Mixed / Down the flanks / Through the middle (depending on your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses)
  • Passing style : Direct (if using mixed or through the middle attacking style) / Mixed (suitable for all styles)
  • Tempo : Normal (for a normal, i.e. neutral game) / Slow (for a defensive game) / Fast (for an attacking game)

  • Pressing : Own half (for normal / slow tempo) / All over (for attacking / very attacking mentality)
  • Counter-attack : Yes (For normal / defensive game)
  • Men behind ball : Yes (For normal / defensive game)
  • Tight marking : Yes (you can also decide not to use this)
  • Play offside : Yes (against lower-rated strikers) / No (against similar / higher-rated strikers)
  • Use playmaker : No (use this if you have a player with a rating significantly higher than those of his teammates, and make him the playmaker)
  • Use targetman : Yes (your CF / highest-rated forward)
  • During the game, if you're losing in the 60th minute, change your formation to a 3-4-1-2 with hard tackling, attacking mentality, through the middle, direct passing, fast tempo, pressing all over, and use a playmaker (your AM, the '1' in the 3-4-1-2). I believe it's better not to use a targetman in this case.
  • If losing in the 75th minute, use the above-mentioned tactics, and in addition, also change the mentality to very attacking, and play the offside trap (to get your defenders to go further forward).
  • When up against a much higher-rated side, start with a 4-2-3-1 and a very defensive mentality, mixed attacking style, and with the rest of the tactics as suggested for a defensive 3-5-2 / 4-4-2. Change to an attacking style with the same formation when losing in the 60th minute, and if still losing 15 minutes later, change to a very attacking 3-4-1-2 and throw everything at them including the kitchen sink, for you have nothing to lose. ;)

That’s it. Full-time, and hopefully, it’s your team that wins. :) Did you find this thread helpful? Feel free to post your thoughts or ask any questions you might have, and I’ll try to answer them.

Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

I took over as Newcastle manager and did amazing in my first season finishing first with a really bad team. Second season, I bought in quality players yet finished fifth. It seems really strange how I did better with worse players. Now it is pre-season in my gameworld and I am about to start my third season as Newcastle manager. I am hoping this season will be really good and like my first one!

I have plenty of good players who are predicted to rise, but soccermanager is more than that... it is about winning matches.

My squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers

Sebastian Frey - 90

Aaron Fletcher - 60

Defenders

Thiago Silva - 92

Vincent Kompany - 91

David Luiz - 90

Mats Hummels - 90

Diego Godin - 90

Jerome Boateng - 89

Fabricio Collocini - 88

Midfielders

Nigel De Jong - 91

Yann M'Vila - 89

Ranieri Sandro - 88

Nuri Sahin - 90

Abou Diaby - 89

Mesut Ozil - 93

Charlie Adam - 86

Joey Barton - 86

Ganso - 88

Pedro - 92

Marko Marin - 90

Gervinho - 89

Wijnaldum - 87

Strikers

Marouane Chamakh - 91

Edin Dzeko - 92

Goran Pandev - 91

Radamel Falcao - 91

Or you can see http://www.soccermanager.com/profile.php?action=clubdetails&cid=1755718&clubid=5725591&sid=17528

Thanks and if you need any more information (e.g morale, form etc) please say!

using a3-5-2 tactic i make a lot of shots and the other team a few but sometimes i draw or lose because in that few shots they score and me, in double or triple shots don't.

My 3-5-2 have the LM and RM to advance, shoud i use this? what ind of movimentations showl we use for beating CPU teams in 3-5-2 style?

i use

Tackling Style hard

Mentality normal

Passing Style direct

Attacking Style mixed

Tempo normal

Pressing own half

Play Style

Counter-Attack

Men Behind Ball

Tight Marking

Play Offside Trap

Hi Bigslb.

I guess i'm on the same situation as you..

The difference is that I'm winning.. But it's only 1-0, 2-1, 1-0 again...

And i do have a wonderful team..

I use to play like this

Valdes

Sagna Hummels Coentrao

Sahin(Mvilla)

Remy Nilmar G.Rossi(Sahin) Hulk

Kerzhakov Borriello

Mentality: Atacking

Tempo: Fast

Pressure: Own Half

Tight Marking

Play off-side trap

Other instructions: Normal. mixed and so on...

I've also noticed that I struggle much more playing against unmanaged teams that use 442.. When they use 433, i end up winning 2,3 or 4-0..

So since my doubt is the same as bigslb, i'd like some advice as well... :)

Thanks everyone
