Adkins brings in hot prospect David Davis

29zsfpt.jpg

Nigel Adkins late tonight has unveiled his seventh signing since his arrival at Exeter City, David Davis has been revealed to be the star that will travel down south. David was first scouted by the scouting team at Swansea after he was released by Doncaster, he spent some time on loan at Northampton training with the team but wasn't able to make a first team appearance for any of the clubs. Although, it is believed that the funds are quite tight at the moment at Exeter it is believed that they have found around £700,000 to spend on the young English central midfielder. He will train with the first team tomorrow and it is expected now that Exeter City are out of the race for a play-off position he could play in the last game of the season on Wednesday. Some fans are hoping that they can start some of the younger players and it will be a nice platform for them to gain some experience. Fans were hoping that there would be some young players joining the club and David will join Tom Adeyemi as the midfielders for the future. It is suspected that the 22 year old will be the last signing to walk through the doors at Exeter City until the end of the season.

Exeter City 1-2 Crystal Palace

Diego-Forl-n-006.jpg

Forlan was now just 4 goals behind the top 2 leading goalscorers

This result last night confirmed that Exeter City were not going to achieve a play-off position, most fans were already pessimistic on the hopes of Exeter going for one of the last two play-off spots but the realism of last nights defeat has kicked in as with 2 games to go Exeter City find them 6 points off 6th position and are 15 goals behind on goal difference so although it isn't mathematically impossible the chances of it happening are extremely unrealistic. It is expected that Exeter over the next two games will start playing some younger players to help give them some experience but this might anger some fans as Exeter are currently struggling financially and the higher they finish the more money would income. The game did start off quite well for Exeter as they found themself early on just after 3 minutes a goal ahead after Oussama Assaidi found space to latch onto the incoming cross and with a powerful header hit the ball into the back of the net. On the attacking front both teams were struggling in the first half, they were making attacks but were unfortunate to put there shots on target, on the 28th minute Seedorf came close but a save from Mihaylov kept Exeter ahead by 1 goal to nil. But with 7 minutes to go Crystal Palace under there new manager Taylor Nelson pulled one back with Diego Forlan coming onto the scoresheet as Mihalyov couldn't get down quickly enough to save the Uruguayan's powerful shot. The scoreline stayed with limited attacks which threatened the goalkeepers occuring until half time.

The Second half instantly saw Exeter pick up there 2nd yellow card of the game with young on-loan midfielder Granit Xhaka picking up his 5th yellow card of the season (Includes the 4 yellow cards picked up when on loan at Peterborough United), earlier in the game defender Aaron Hughes was booked after a mistimed challenge on Andriy Arshavin. The attacks were slowly but surely coming to the away team and the 2nd goal for Crystal Palace was expected when Arshavin's freekick found English centre back Joleon Lescott in the box and he was able to latch onto the cross and connect well with the header to put it past the goalkeeper, the crowd erupted as this kept Crystal Palace (for the time being) in 5th position and looking ever more likely to pick up a play-off spot. Nigel Adkins face had dropped in disappointment as it kicked in that this goal was the difference of hope staying alive for the South West club but it wasn't to be for the home side. Exeter attempted late into the game a resurgence in belief that they would be able to pick a goal but they couldn't get it past Crystal Palace's Spanish goalie Lopez as he kept out both Insigne and Luis Fabiano. The game finished a disappointing 2-1 to Crystal Palace. The statistics surprisingly were different to what most had expected as it shown that Exeter were the more dominant side in a game that saw Crystal Palace for most of the game looking the more likely to come out on top.

Re: English Championship 5579 -Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread

Leicester now in my eyes are relegated. I tried my best but it wasn't enough it seems. First match was a draw , second a win and last game was a close 2-1 lose to watford which i was dominate with loads more shots but watford just got lucky. We are set to join div 2 now. It will be interesting journey.

I have recently did deals to shape the team more and improve to bounce back into the first div. Lucas Biglia has joined from external napoli for two squad players along with Pereyra whos a udiense starter now and i expect him to jump to 88 soon.

my major deal will be shown with a proper newspaper post

Didac signs on the dotted line...

29dy5gi.jpg

Didac chose Exeter over Sheffield Wednesday

It has been confirmed early this morning on the Exeter City website that after being involved in an intense bidding war with Sheffield Wednesday that highly rated left back Vila Didac has signed on the dotted line for Exeter City. Nigel Adkins has been searching for a left back since his arrival at the club and the Spaniard has joined Exeter for around £800k + Alan Hutton in a deal which has shocked many in Division 2. The highly acclaimed left back has experience in England as he has featured for Gillingham, Huddersfield and Portsmouth. Vila made his mark at Gillingham where he was season after season making 30+ appearances. He has been brought in straight on time for pre-season so he is given the opportunity to gel with the first team ready for next season. It is believed that Sheffield Wednesday bid around £4.5m + Garrath McLeary but it wasn't enough for Pescara as they were interested in Alan Hutton. This signing will most likely end the rumours of the attempts to sign Preston defender Melgarejo, the left back had featured for James Burrow (ex-Preston manager) many times before his surprise departure from the team that had just been promoted to Division 1. After finishing 8th in the division it is believed that signings like Didac should help them progress further as a team, rumours have been circulating that they are after signing a few new players and Didac is the first of them. Tonight, Exeter featured in a friendly at home to Oldham which they lost 2-1, there are a few more friendlies before the start of next season, they include; Ipswich away and Middlesborough at home. Fans are hoping that they will strengthen on the squad over this week.

Hammer Hambition

West Ham manager has been busy in the tranfer market bring in the like of Kyle Walker,Scott Sinclair,Fellaini,Jojo Shelvey and Steffan Kiessling. The new crop of players will fit in well with the spine of with key players like Skrtel,David Silva and the Hulk who will remain at the club unless the Hammers recieve a offer they cant turn down.

After a long season in division three the hammers have gained promotion and expect to be in the play offs next season and Hammers manager Avram Grant has given us his view on the clubs (ham)ambition for next season

Promotion winning side West ham below.

art-west_ham1-420x0.jpg

"I really believe we have a squad that is capable of doing well in Division two next year,we have experience with the likes of Skrtel and Silva and the goal scorers in Hulk and Kiessling".

West Ham certainly look strong going into next season and if need be the club also have a large tranfer budget remaining so if they need to strenghten they will.Division Two could be tight next season with many clubs believign they can do well but the Hammer have everythink in there favour so a play off should be a miniumin.

Star player the Hulk(below)

"The squad is well balanced and with a relatively small squad l believe every player will get his chance to make a claim for a first team place"

PETERBOROUGH AWAIT PREMIER ARRIVAL

3516573.png

Tomlins - "true challenge awaits..."

With a new season just over the horizon - Peterborough players and fans alike relish the start of the new season - in a brand new league. Following the clubs first promotion, after 10 resilient years in the second tier of English football, the club now face their biggest and most exciting challenge yet.

At the helm - Dan Tomlins. With over 425 games under his belt he is far from "green behind the ears", but he this Saturday he is about to walk out as a Premier League manager to an expected sell out crowed at London Road. A target since day one - which wouldn't have looked at all possible 10 seasons ago.

Tomlins turned down offers from Burnley and Hull back in 2010 - reiterating his stance, signing a long term deal, and committing himself to Peterborough for the foreseeable. 4 years later - he is ready for a shot at the big time.

Peterborough face Sheffield United on the opening day of the new campaign - a side who they have lost their last 3 encounters too. But the Blades will recognize some new faces in the Peterborough squad since the last time the sides faced, with Peterborough bringing in no less than 5 new faces, with more expected in the coming days, the most high profile signing to be made so far by Tomlins being Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa failed to make a shine the last time he played in division one - playing out a short lived 6 game stint at Sunderland before being transferred back to Olympique Marseille. However, Ben Arfa was snapped up not long after, and brought back to the UK - this time to Coventry City, where he played no more than 14 games before moving to Germany, and Hamburger SV. It wasn't long before Ben Arfa would be boarding a flight to the UK again, this time to the up and coming, division two outfit, Shrewsbury Town. The Frenchman didn't last long there before he was transferred to FC Porto. Bury would be the next stop for the seemingly unwanted Frenchman, less than 6 months in the third tier at Bury and he was on the move again, this time to Charlton Athletic. His most prolific run came in a season at Millwall in Season 7, 19 goals in 24 games caught the eye of many clubs, one of which being Sheffield Wednesday - where he played over 88 games over 4 seasons, with what turned out to be his final season being overshadowed by a torn hamstring, keeping him out for 4 weeks.

Tomlins is seemingly putting a lot of faith on a player that is yet to prove himself in the top flight, and after several seasons in the lower tiers of EC5579.

Will Ben Arfa prove his worth??

RECORD BREAKER

143176__max_news.jpg

Adriano - on the move

Peterborough United look set to break their transfer record this evening in order to sign Colchester United center forward, Adriano. The 26-year-old Brazilian forward looks set to make the switch after agreeing person terms this afternoon with Peterborough club officials.

The record breaking fee is believed to be in the region of £10m - beating the previous record set back in 2011 when Peterborough signed Maarten Martens for £8m from AZ Alkmaar.

Adriano becomes the Premier League new boys third incoming of the season, following Hatem Ben Arfa and Vladimir Weiss with speculation surrounding Roma forward, Adem Ljajic and Millwall striker, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson - is Adriano going to be the last?

Adriano enjoyed a prolific spell in seasons three, four and five where he hit double figures. Peterborough manager, Dan Tomlins will be hoping to get the Brazilian back to his former best as the side take on the top flight this season.

Tomlins is also hopeful that clubs can be found for Lerin Duarte, Quincey Promes and Landry N'Guemo - preferably on loan as the Englishman looks to give them minutes and the spare up wages.

LJAJIC SIGNS FOR POMPEY

Portsmouth have completed the signing of AS Roma forward Adem Ljajic. The Serbian international, who has previously played for Ipswich, Watford and Colchester, joins for a club record £25.4m.

'I think this is a great deal for us' said Charlie Cook, the Portsmouth manager. 'We have had to pay above what we would have liked to have paid for him but it was necessary to secure the deal. He is a great talent and he gives us more options in the forward areas'. Ljajic is expected to be in the squad for Portsmouths next league game against Aston Villa on Saturday.
