Fulham Match Preview

This Weekend at the Craven Cottage Struggling Fulham take on there london rivals Aresnal who have not had the best of times in part of the season this is a must win game for both sides .

If Fulham win it could possibly take them 9 points clear of the realagtion zone that would assure the saftey most experts think. If the cottagers dare to think about a deaft it would have disatrous effects for there confidnce and would also put them back in the realgtio scrap these last few weeks have turbalend at the cottgaes with bigh highs are huge lows.

If the Gunners win the could cut the gap on leaders Liverpool to 6 points with a win. But if they in-form Gunners who have won there last 6 could go down to 6 place which would not statisfiy the board and as of such the manager postion which belognes to ex Barsely manager many were questioing if the lady could make the step up but she has certialey proved her critis wrong.

Both sides are set to make changes to their sides as Fulham have sold their main midfielders. And Arsenal are set to make changes as the manager rotates her squad in an attempted to salvage the league and take it from the grasp of the Merseyside’s. Arsenal have a big and good squad with plenty of depth so it is easy to rotates but Fulham have not spent wisely and have little depth and a poor squad

Predictions : Fulham 1-2 Arsenal

Williamson seals Peterborough move

Peterborough United have signed Mypa defender Mike Williamson for £2.3m in time for there weekend game against Newcastle United.

The 26 year old signed a 5 year contract at London Road yesterday after the successful sales of both Chris Killen and Craig Morgan prior to his arrival. Mike Williamson had a short spell at Portsmouth where he was sold for a free in the region of £2m in the opening days of the season and went onto Mypa where he wasn't to happy with playing his football in Finland. Peterborough where thought to have been interested in the Englishman for some time and where very happy with there business to have captured the player.

However, Peterborough had sold Chris Killen and Craig Morgan before the deal of Mike Williamson could be complete after some difficulties within the financial region at the club. But both players had been looking for away out of the club before hand after a small amount of game time all season. Chris Killen's most memorable moment in his short time at Peterborough would of been his quarter final goal against Birmingham City witch saw Peterborough sadly drop out, but his goal gave the proud Peterborough fans something to sing about and give them hope for the rest of the season.

Killen scored 2 goal's in only 8 appearances.

Welcome Back to England

Over the past few days the Rovers management went deep into their bankbook, spending $31.2 million on players they believed will help the team move into the direction needed to win the championship.

For the past week the Rovers boss has been travelling Europe to gain interest in potential moves to his club. The Rovers boss returned to England with Florent Malouda from Benfica at a cost of $8 million. Rodrigo Alex from Real Madrid costing $8.7 million. Also Dimitar Berbatov and Pereira Neves Denilson at a cost of $11.7 and 2.9 + Di Santo respectively.

These players were told they weren't needed under their respective management while in England. All four feel they have something to prove. They are all quality players and we are happy and proud to have them here.

Okaka Hands in Transfer Request

Stefano Okaka hands in a transfer request, after his lack of games in recent weeks.

Swansea City have announced that 20 year old Italian centre-forward Stefano Okaka has been placed on the transfer list, after the Italian handed in a transfer request last night.

Okaka found himself as Swansea's lead striker in his first month at Swansea, but although he remained in the starting XI on a frequent basis, Arouna Kone kept on stealing the headlines with goal after goal with Okaka rarely finding the net.

Then with the sale of Michel Bastos, Swansea had the funds to bring in Roque Santa Cruz and Ilan leaving Stefano Okaka not even on the bench for the majority of games, as he started to become unhappy at the club.

Yesterday he handed in a transfer request, following a chat with manager Aidan Radford who had told Okaka that he would only be needed for a few games untill the end of the season.

Okaka has made a total of 15 appearances for Swansea, since his £3,600,000 move from Roma, but he's only found the net on 6 occasions with more expected from him at Swansea.

He's now been transfer listed, as Okaka looks for regular football with the player availible to leave for between £5,000,000 - £5,500,000 with Okaka likely for a return to former club Roma unless a British club steps in with an offer for the muscle forward.

Richards & Orlandi's Loan Spell Cut Short

Jazz Richards had been at Swindon since the start of the season before being returned by the Divison 4 club.

Jazz Richards & Andrea Orlandi are now looking for new clubs to join on loan after they were both returned to Swansea City as there loans deals were cut short.

Jazz Richards has been out on loan at Divison 4 club Swindon Town since the start of the season, but was returned to Swansea by Swindon without any notice today. Richards had been getting a nice run in the team, and was a favourite with the fans but since the arrival of Jeremy Hall over a week ago he failed to get any first team action.

Richards was returned to Swansea by Swindon leaving the right-back, with Swansea now looking for a new team to take the young Welshman on loan. Richards isn't happy that his loan spell was cut short as he was enjoying his time at Swindon, but he's confident he can go out on loan elsewhere and perform to a high standard.

Andrea Orlandi also returned from his loan spell this week. The creative midfielder joined Sheffield United on-loan recentley, but after only two starts and one sub appearance in his short time at the Yorkshire club he was returned to Swansea.

The Sheffield United boss claimed that a change of plan occured, leaving Orlandi out of the side, but the Swansea manager was still dissapointed that the Blades returned him to the club after such a short spell. He will now look to go out on loan to a lower league club, where he'll be looking for first team football in a stable environment.

Swansea City 4 - 1 Coventry City

22, Pancrate

34, Kone

80, Santa Cruz

85, Santa Cruz

87, Onyewu

The Big Picture

Swansea left it late, but two goals in the last 10 minutes from Roque Santa Cruz help them to put their midweek defeat behind them.

Swansea City overcame their defeat on Wednesday away to Peterborough behind them, as they beat league leaders Coventry City leaving it late but 3 goals in the last 10 minutes gave them a comfortable lead on paper.

There was two changes to the side that lost at Peterborough, with Leiva Lucas coming in for Fran Merida in the centre of midfield and Johan Djourou coming into the side to make his debut in place of Ashley Williams who was sold after the defeat to Peterborough.

Johan Djourou was one of two changes to the Swansea team, making his debut as a holding midfielder

Stephen Warnock was also captaining the side for the first time, despite only joining the club recentley. But the Swansea boss wanted a British leader, who is fluent in the languauge and Warnock was the obvious option.

Marko Arnautovic has the early chance for Coventry. His shot from point blank range was blocked on the line by Johan Djourou who made sure that the danger passed with a monster clearance downfield.

Marko Arnautovic's effort is cleared off the line by Johan Djourou

Coventry then had another chance, with Luciano Monzon getting into the box but his shot lacked power as it slowly passed the keepers far post. Monzon was left in a lot of space, but failed to make the effort decisive.

Roque Santa Cruz then thought he beat the offside trap, but the linesman raised his flag for offside. Santa Cruz was furios with the controversial decision, with later replays showing his way level with Massimo Oddo.

But that was a rare danger for Swansea in a game that Coventry seemed to be on top, and with the run of play Coventry took the lead on 22 minutes. Loanee Fabrice Pancrate's first effort was fumbled by De Vries but Pancrate was first to the loose ball to poke past De Vries at a second attempt to the delight of the away support.

Fabrice Pancrate gives Coventry the lead, beating De Vries at his 2nd attempt

It took Swansea a while to react aswell, Iaquinta's flick on from Sammy Clingan's cross looked to be far from enough from finding the net but De Vries failed to collect the ball as it rolled across the line untill De Vries finally clutched onto it.

He then had to be at full stretch to deny Sammy Clingan from finding the net. Clingan struck from 35 yards out towards the top hand corner, with De Vries getting across his goal-line quickly to tip Clingan's shot over the bar for a corner kick.

But then against the run of play Swansea were on level terms with some majoc from Arouna Kone. Kone recieved the ball on the left, on the edge of the box with Kone skipping past the defender before curling in a superb shot which found the top hand corner.

Kone puts Swansea level, with a bit of magic from the striker

Fabrice Pancrate almost gave Coventry a lead for the second time in the match. Pancrate beat Warnock leaving him in plenty of space, but a week ball towards Iaquinta was easliy intercepted by Johan Djourou.

Iaquinta then had a chance to score, as Coventry pressed for a goal. Iaquinta deciding to shoot from range, and it looked for a second like it was going to be a wonderfull goal but De Vries managed to get a strong hand to Iaquinta's shot to palm it away to safety.

Iaquinta's shot is well saved by Dorus De Vries, as the Italian started to get increasingly frustrated infront of goal.

Colin Kazim Richards then came close to giving Swansea the lead. Kazim Richards beat Oddo to the ball, Kazim Richards struck the ball on the half volley but Artur Boruc was at his very best to stop the shot and clutch onto the ball to avoid Kazim Richards getting the rebound.

Then Swansea took the lead with just 10 minutes remaining, Roque Santa Cruz took advantage of some poor defending to give Swansea the lead. Andre Luis slipped leaving Santa Cruz in plenty of space and he raced away from Massimo Oddo and placed the ball towards the far post.

Just 5 minutes later and Santa Cruz scored once again with poor defending once again. Santa Cruz beat the Coventry defence with a heavy touch and he put the ball through Artur Boruc's legs for his 5th goal in 4 league appearances since joining from Valencia.

Santa Cruz hits Coventry with a late brace, to help Swansea to all three pointd

Then a late goal from Oguchi Onyewu put a bit of glamour into the scorline with a cool finish from the center-back. Onyewu didn't connect with the first cross, but the ball was played back in to the center back who brought the ball down and rounded Boruc to finish from an acute angle.

Swansea comfortably won the game as they close the gap between them and Coventry to seven points. Their now just three points off the automatic places, and with Leicester & Sheffield United both losing they've taken a five point gap on 7th spot as they look to secure a play off spot.

Swansea now face a tough test on Monday, as they play Preston in the 1/4 finals of the Shield, they'll be looking for the win after losing out on a place to Wembley losing in the Cup 1/4 finals to Sunderland on Penalties.

Post Match Interview

You left it late, but came out on top comfortably in the end, did the strikers pull out this result for you?

Yes, they pulled the result out of the bag for us, whilst Iaquinta and Arnautovic failed to make a serious impact for them. Against the run of play, Kone put us on level terms with a superb goal out of nothing against the run of play to get us back into the game. Then Santa Cruz showed his quality getting a brace in the closing stages, and Onyewu was at hand to add some glamour to the result.

There's increasing rumors of the future of Stefano Okaka, is he set for a move away from the club?

He's not happy after not getting games recentley and he's taken it to the extreme by handing in a transfer request. We wont need an immeadiate replacement up front for him if he does complete a move away from the club, and instead we'll look to strengthen other positions. Okaka has had a good first half of the season, and it's sad for it too look to end in such a situation.

The Shield 1/4 awaits on Monday, where you'll face Preston, after crashing out of the FA Cup are you intent to get a result?

We'll be looking for no less than a win, and progression to the next round. We beat them comfortably in our last meeting, but they've come a long way since then with a change of manager so it will be a harder task for us. We'll have a few strong players on display, and we'll be needing some magic from one or two players to win us the tie. A trip to Wembley would be a great achievement for the club, so a win is certainly worth a fighting battle.

Coventry was given a wake up call by promotion threatening Swansea City, Gadga's men lost 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium in what Gadga stated in a prematch statement as a tough game but didn't relise that Coventry was going to crumble so easily.

Coventry showed why they are top of the league straigt from kickoff when transfer listed Arnautovic shot was cleared of the line in the 2nd minute. On 19 min mark defender Monzon let loose a 15 yrd shotbut slips past the post which De Vries had it covered. In the 22nd min winger Pancrate put Coventry 1-0 up with a toe-poke on the second attempt.

Pancrate made it 1-0 to coventry.

Coventry went on the attack after the goal and out of the blue in the 34th min dangerman Kone recieved the ball on the left skipped inside his marker and curled a 25yrd shot past an overstretching Boruc to make it 1-1

dangerman Kone made it 1-1 with a curling goal

From Kones goal it was all Swansea.

The second half got underway and it was Coventry that turned up the pase and style as they was controling the game and in the 80th min some poor communication in the defence left unmarked Santa Cruz to score,

Santa Cruz put Swansea 2-1 with an easy goal

he also made it 3-1

Swansea was now controling the game as Coventry looked shellshocked and once again Coventry's defence gifted another goal as in the 85th min a mix up allows Santa Cruz to make it 3-1, Coventry couldn't get hold of the game and with time running out fast the players knew that they was looking at a defeat that will be hard to except and in the 87th min Swansea made sure of the three points when Onyewu rounde Boruc and finished with a acute angle shot..

Onyewu made it 4-1

Gadga doesn't know what to make of it..

shocking very shocking, we knew that we was going to have a tough game put to give in like that was very very dissapointing, i told the lads that i will be happy with a draw. We must put this behind us and concentrate on getting 3points on weds when we play newcastle.

What Is Happening?

(Rovers boss has questions to answer as Rovers start to slide down the table)

The Rovers manager Yhanick Scott is believed to be under intense pressure from his Chairman. It is believed that the chairman is asking questions about the loss to their hated rivals Tottenham Hotspur a few days ago. The chairman is troubled at their current position at 7th in the table. But what has the chairman furious is the non-selection of Nikola Kalinic despite being the most promising and the most outstanding performer on the Rovers squad. The manager has chosen to select Berbatov and Henry over the young Croatian. Yet Henry has played 8 games and has failed to find the back of the net and Berbatov has failed to shine so far. The chairman has told the manager, Kalanic must play against Burnley.

("Kalanic must play against Burnley" So says the Rovers Chairman.)

We took to the streets to hear what the fans have to say about their club.

Marlon Thompson

The club is doing well despite being 7th in the table. I am confident in the manager and I support him all the way.

Stacy Lindsay

Manage Scott is driving the club into the ground. I don't think he is quite prepared for the challenge. He just doesn't have all the players on the right page. They wont win games like that.

Shawn Storm

I don't care about football at Blackburn Rovers anymore.I wouldn't be surprised if they are relegated. I am now a supporter of Swansea City, now that is what you called a football club.

A game where there was 2 different causes for case. Shorpe were fighting for survival points, while Bristol City looked to wrestle back into contention in the top 6 places in the league. It was infact the visitors who took maxinum club against the league's basement side, but they made hard work of the job, and Shorp will be happy with their display.

Tom now calls for focus at the club, and says how big a 4 game unbeaten run would do.

"Four games wins or draws will do us - mainly wins though,"

"Its not easy in this division, but I'm confident," "On our day we can beat anyone nearlly, but truth is - not on our day - anyone can beat us, so we have to just focus,"

"I think a 4 games unbeaten run will do us wonders for getting back into the playoffs!,"

Coventry boss Gadga is urging his players for a big improvement over the next few weeks, following lastnights heavy defeat by Swansea, luckly we had a 5 point gap from 2nd place but that doesn't mean we can relax, our 5 games are very important to us, Newcastle - Peterborough - Bristol City - Ipswich and Watford, 4 out of 5 are pushing for promotion while lonly Ipswich are fighting to stay in this division, if we can manage to win all 5 then i'll be one very happy manager but i've gave the players a challenge of 10 points out of 15..

Rumours from the Ricoh Arena is that there is to be new faces arriving soon which will shock most of the Coventry fans, while Marko Arnautovic is listed for 10million, it is his strke partner who is leaving, taking his place is a same rated striker but much younger and may well suit the style we play, also rumoured to arrive shortly is another striker rated 87/88 and is in his mid 30's, but his well known to find the net from anywhere..

Iaquinta in a interview to the Coventry post stating that he will be sadly leaving..

] it is always sad to leave a club whom are doing well and you are scoring, yeah i'm Coventry's leading goal scorer this season but i can understand what the gaffer wants and is doing, i would love to stay here in the midlands for the rest of the season but it seems its not the case and i'll have got to except that i won't be helping Coventry in there amazing push for promotion, who ever takes my place i wish him all the best and to the rest of the lads thanx for every thing and good luck, i'll be watching for the results.. Ive also told the gaffer if he wants me back anytime at the club i'll be willing to jump on a plane, thats how much love i've got for the club in my half season here.

OFFICIAL: Assuncao is changing from Red-White to Red-White!

Assuncao outside the Stadium of Light

After much discussions between Sunderland and Atletico Madrid, Sunderland has revealed Paulo Assuncao as thier new signing. The Brazilian who joined Sunderland for a 5.9 £ fee, is very pleased in joining ''The Black Cats''

It's a dream coming through. I've always wanted to play in the Premiership. When I played for Atletico and we travelled to England (Atl Madrid v Liverpool CL), I loved the atmosphere. Sunderland has an interesting project here. I have been able of watching abit of English matches and I've seen Sunderland play abit. They have very good young players and my friend Douglas also plays there. He will surely help me to adapt to the English life. Said Paulo Assuncao.
I've wanted Assuncao for a while now. I tried to get him during the first transfer window, but I didn't have the funds. With the moneys I got from the sale of Landreau, I invested them in Assuncao. To me, he is the perfect Central Midfielder for us. He has the routine and the physic to play here. Our squad is very young and I want us to win atleast one silverware this season (F.A Cup or EPL title), so I need to have some routine in our squad. Assuncao, Toni and Grosso are all perfect additions to our squad. I am almost finished with this squad. I only have one deal left to do before this team is complete for me. Said Diego Maradona.

Orlandi & Richards Return Out On Loan

Orlandi & Richards both join Divison 4 clubs on loan, after there previous loan spells were cut short this week.

After both having their loan spells cut short this week, it hasn't took Andrea Orlandi & Ashley Richards to return out on loan as they both have today once again gone out loan.

Andrea Orlandi joins Division 4 strugglers Bury on-loan untill the end of the season, where he'll be a key player as Bury look to push up the table in the closing stages of the season.

Orlandi should be the first choice left-midfielder at Bury, where he'll look for no less than first team football after struggling to break through and into the Swansea team and failing to impress at Sheffield United in his loan spell to Yorkshire.

Ashley Richards has also joins a Divison 4 club, joining Burton Albion on loan for the rest of the season. Richards will have to work very hard to get some regular football this season, with lots of cover at right-back at Burton but although he might not get much game time at Burton he'll look to pick up some experience with some sort of game time.

Re: English Championship 5579 -Match Report/transfer Gossip Thread

Daniel Agger has been appointed captain by Parker

Agger thanking the fans for turning up after the 2-0 victory against Forest.

After last night two- nil victory over Nottingham Forest, Parker confirmed that Daniel Agger has been made captain for the Lions just a week into his Millwall career. This comes after the fact that former captain Lucas Aveldano has handed in a transfer request and will leave the club in the next couple of days as soon as his transfer ban runs out. Aveldano has been a revelation since his £2.7 move from Racing in the early part of the season. The big centre back has been in impresive form scoring 3 goals as well as chipping in with 4 assists. The news that Aveldano has handed in a transfer request will surprise most Millwall fans as they were a huge admirer of the 24 year old Argentine. Aveldano is likely to play the next two crucial games against Charlton Athletic and Norwich before being sold back to his native Argentina. This was the statement released on Millwall's offical website

We are very dissapointed to have to announce that Lucas Aveldano has handed in a transfer request. He hasn't settled as well as he wanted and his family have found life in England very hard and they are looking to move back to Argentina. Lucas has also handed in the captain's armband and it is up to the manager to decide who will get it. He is likely to be with us for the next week or so and has promised the fans that he wants to go out with a bang and will show the same determination that he has previously shown. We wish him the best of luck and hope that he succeeeds in the future.

According to reports a fee of around £5 million has already been agreed between Millwall and Racing and it is up to Parker to decide when to cash in on the centre back. This will give Millwall a profit of around £3 million and reports suggest that the money will not be spent instead will help pay the huge wage bills that Millwall currently have.

Aveldano likely to leave soon

After hearing those news, Paker was quick to appoint a new captain and he believes that Daniel Agger will be best suited for the job. This raised a few eyebrows as Agger has only been here for a couple of days but Parker believes that it would have been too much of a responsibility to have given it to a younger player and feared that giving them the armband would have made their performance levels to go down. This was what the manager had to say on the appointment of Agger as captain

I'm absolutely shocked when I heard the news that Aveldano wanted to leave. He has been one of our best players since the start of the season and it will be a blow for us when he leaves but we have to respect the decision he made. His family comes before the football club and I understand this and I would like to wish him the very best of luck in his future.

Now I've got a tough job on my hands. who do I appoint as captain. We've got loads of good leaders in our team and I believe that Daniel Agger is the best candidate to take over from Aveldano. It was between him and Petrov and I think that the team will benefit better having a leader leading from the back. Agger will be our captain and Petrov will be vice captain. I know people will be saying that I've appointed a guy who just signed last week but I couldn't risk giving the armband to a younger player because I believe they would have chocked under the pressure and their performance would have been affected.

After the appointment we managed to get a quick word with the man himself and he says that he is relishing the challenge and think that the team are too good to be in this division.

Agger on being named the new captain

I am really delighted that the manager showed so much faith into me and gave me the armband even though I've only been with the club for 1 week. It's an honor and I will look to lead by example and hopefully we can win our next two games and we could be top of the table. This is where I believe this team deserves to be and I hope that next season we'll be in division 2 instead of trying to win promotion to division 2. We've got some talented players here and let's hope that we can start killing teams off starting with our next game against Charlton.

In other news Parker has confirmed that the team has loaned out 3 youngsters with hope that they come back with more experience. Bertoglio, Drocco and Mazzarini have been loaned out and Parker will be hoping that these 3 impress at their respective club and believes that we'll be seeing them back in a Millwall shirt last season.

It has been really tough for our younger players lately as we've brought in quite a few high profiled players and players like Bertoglio and Mazzarini have suffered since and were frozen out to reserve football. The only way we could see them develop into better footballers was to send them on loan and I believe that next season they will come back better that ever and will be crucial in our plans for the future.

Bertoglio looking to impress at Bury

Okaka Returns to Roma

Okaka ends his spell in South-Wales returning to Italy for his second spell at Roma.

Swansea have announced the sale of centre-forward Stefano Okaka, who rejoins Roma for a fee of £5,200,000 after handing in a transfer request earlier this week.

Okaka joined Swansea for £3,600,000 at the start of the season, with Okaka being one of Radfords first signings after taking over Swansea. Okaka started off as the lead striker for Swansea, but Okaka got pushed out of the Swansea side with the likes of Roque Santa Cruz joining Swansea.

He handed in a transfer request a few days ago, and despite no interest in England, Roma came in with an offer for Okaka which see's Okaka have a second spell with the Italian club.

Okaka scored 6 goals in 15 appearances at Swansea, and although wanting a way out of the club recentley he is thankfull for the chance to show what he can do in English football and has not ruled out a potential return to English football if the right offer comes in.

This morning two strikers was spotted going in to the Ricoh arena and leaving an hour later, as it was rumoured over the last few days that Iaquinta was leaving the club and now new strikers spotted it seems that the rumours was true, when asked a spokeperson from the club did say that yes we have agreed a fee with two clubs and the players have agreed contract terms and should be arriving here shortly intime for wednesday clash with 2nd place Newcastle.

Firstly Italian hotshot Christaino Lucarelli will be joining us from Parma for a fee of nothing with two players going the otherway, The 34yr old is well known for his goal scoring and manager Gadga as being keeping an eye him for some time. The second player spotted was Dutch goalscoring machine Klass-Jan Huntelaar is said to be leaving Milan for a life in the midlands, the 26 yr old will be joining for nothing but with Iaquinta going to Milan.

we at the club are a wee bit excited about these two players coming to Coventry, i know that we are losing three players and will really lower the numbers we have at the club and it is a wee bit worring that the deals may be stopped by the SMFA but i'm confident that they will go through, also we have put in a bid for an 18yr old cetremidfielder from an non league club whom i'm interseted in he is only a 64 rep won't have a change in rateing but he will be a youth player. Huntelaar willreplace Iaquinta for wednesday match and Lucarelli could repace Arnautovic up front

Huntelaar at Coventry for talks with a possible move to the midlands from Milan.

Lucarelli also having talks with Coventry about a move.

Vicenza resign Nicola Rigoni

Nicola Rigoni joins Vicenza for his second spell at the Seria B club.

Swansea have announced the sale of young Italian holding midfielder Nicola Rigoni, who rejoins Seria B club Vicenza for a fee of £1,100,00.

Rigoni joined Swansea from Vicenza at the start of the season for a bargain fee of £200,000 as the South-Wales club beat off competition from West Ham United & Watford to sign the midfielder.

Rigoni played a part in Swansea's youth cup side, but didn't face any league, cup or shield appearances. He did join Wolves on loan though, making two league starts aswell as a start in the shield as he impressed the Wolves boss.

Swansea are happy to make a smooth £900,000 profit on Rigoni, with the Italian likely to play the rest of his career in Italy. He's enjoyed his flutter in Britain though, and there wouldn't be a suprise if a smaller divison club came in for Rigoni in future seasons.

Romanian Duo join Swansea

Ionut Neagu is the major buy of the two Romanians, joining for £175,000

Swansea City have invested in their youth squad, using the money from Nicola Rigoni to bring in two Romanians who've been impressing many in Europe.

Ionut Neagu & Bogdan Straut have joined Swansea for small fee's and have both been made availible to go out on loan after completing their medicals this evening.

Ionut Neagu arrives from Otelul Galati for a fee of £175,000. Neagu is a 20-year old Romanian midfielder, who's started to get games in Romania. There was plenty of interest in Neagu across Europe, and Swansea came in for the midfielder after scouts in Eastern Europe informed the Youth Coach of Neagu.

Bogdan Straut has been impressing in Romania just as much as Neagu. Straut is a right-back, and the 23 year old joined for just £10,000 in a bargain buy for Swansea.

Swansea have said that if they hadn't of bought the two Romanians, it wouldn't be long before they would be snapped up by a fellow British team with a very competitive market currently in place in England.

10 Men Swansea reach Semi Final Derby

Ilan scores the winner as Swansea make history, in reaching the Semi-Final of the Shield

Swansea have made history, in making a Shield Semi-Final thanks to a winner from Brazilian forward Ilan. Swansea went down to 10 men in the first half, with Jordan Spence dismissed but Swansea went on to win the game 1-0.

There was 9 changes to the team that beat Coventry on saturday, with Roque Santa Cruz & Dorus De Vries the only survivors. Preston played more or less the same side that played on saturday, but the squad was feeling tired.

Early on and Swansea were faced with a major disadvantage, with Jordan Spence sent off after 23 minutes. Spence was frustrated by the tight marking from the corner of Per Kroldrop, and Spence let his inexperience get the better off him as he kicked out at Kroldrop and was immeadiatly shown a straight red.

On 65 minutes Swansea took the lead. A quick passing move, lead by Darren Pratley gave Ilan a sight at goal. Ilan then cleverley finished, with a very Brazilian like finish, chipping Simonsen with the ball dipping in at the far post.

Preston then failed to make any sort of clear cut chance, as Swansea progressed into the Semi finals of the Shield. But their initial cheers were then multiplied when they found out the draw for the next round.

They face Cardiff City, at the Cardiff City Stadium in the next round where the two Welsh clubs will go toe to toe in what will be an epic derby for a chance for the winners to make a Shield final aswell as a trip to Wembley.

This is a one in a life-time match, as theirs such a unique rivalry between the two clubs and for it to be in a match such a Shield semi-final with so much at stake with the winners earning so much both clubs will be looking for the win.

Swansea have won the only meating between the two clubs so far, a 2-0 home win for the Swans with goals from Nathan Dyer & Stefano Okaka.

Swansea now find themselves in 5th, with Cardiff in 18th but Cardiff have started to find their way recentley as they've won their last three league games. They've also put in some spectacular performances in the Shield with a 9-0 win over Notts County aswell as wins over Divison 1 Wolves & Aston Villa.

This tie will certainly be more difficult then the match at the start of the season for Swansea, but they do have some quality over their openents and will look to bring in a couple of faces before the match in a fortights time.

Onyewu & Dyer depart Swansea after Shield win

Oguchi Onyewu rejoins Milan for £7,800,000 after a brief spell at Swansea

Swansea City have announced the sales of key centre-back Oguchi Onyewu and young winger Nathan Dyer as they look to make yet more changes to their already strong looking squad.

The Swans boss was looking for some more quality at the centre of defence aswell as in midfield as they look to reach promotion and make their squad at divison 1 quality.

Onyewu was sold to Milan, where he'll make his second spell at the Capital, for a pricey fee of £7,800,000. Onyewu joined Swansea from Milan for just over half of that fee so Swansea will be happy with the sale.

The American Internnational has made 19 appearances for Swansea, all of which being starts. He's found the net twice, including in what turned out to be his last appearance for the club, against Coventry and is happy at his spell at Swansea.

Nathan Dyer was the other name to be sold, as he joins French club Toulose for a fee of £4,200,000. Dyer had a flutter in the Swansea squad, against the odds as he made 16 starts for Swansea faced up against the likes of Kazim Richards and loanee Zoran Tosic for a place in the side.

His final appearance came just before his exit, as part of the squad that managed to beat Preston. He now wont be in the squad for the crucial Semi-Final away at Cardiff, against the side where he scored a heroic goal earlier this season for one of his five league goals this season for Swansea.

Swansea will immeadiatly look to bring in replacements for these exits, and the Welsh club will now their targets with the majority of them currently playing outside England. They'll look to beat off competition from other clubs, for high profile targets.

Lincoln hits double as Newcastle edge closer to the Premier league

ClubLogo.gif 2 - 1 ClubLogo.gif

Date: 3rd April 2010 Venue: St. James' Park

Attendance: 50,536 Referee: Brage Sandmoen

Peterborough were the latest visitors to the North-east to visit current promotion hopefuls Newcastle United on Saturday night where only Middlesbrough had been successful in being victorious over there local rivals so far this season.

Peterborough knew there was a challenge on there hand's to beat one of the strongest sides in the division and went into the game witch full confidence after there midweek 3-1 victory over Swansea at London Road. This confidence didn't begin to shine from the Peterborough players as within the opening minutes Newcastle forward, Joao Kleber Pereira rifled his shot over from ten yards out. Cassio Lincoln could of put the Magpies ahead just before the hour mark, but the ball in the box lacked the final touch from the Brazilian. Peterborough soon enough took the lead after hitting Newcastle on the counter when they were claiming for a penalty at the other-end, a cross into the box from Gregory Sertic was heading in by George Boyd for his sixth goal of the current campaign. And the Scot soon came close again with another header just going inches wide of the left post. And he continued to come close again ten minutes later when he managed to pull away from his marker, but his strike wasn't hit too truthfully. However, Five minutes later and Newcastle were level with the Post when Cassio Lincoln made up for his mistake earlier in the game and finished it off with ease just before half time.

It took nearly five minutes for the first bit of action to happen in the second period, Shola Ameobi racing through but crashing in to the advancing keeper who managed to force the ball wide. And again ten minutes later when a twenty yard strike from the Englishman went two foot wide. The two wasted chances where soon cancelled out when Cassio Lincoln scored his second of the game and his twelfth of the season. And ten minutes later he could of had his hat-trick but in disbelief the Brazilian missed the open net and the ball bubbled out past the post. In the dyeing minute's of the game some nice one to passing from Peterborough failed to see George Boyds strike on goal go in as Steven Harper was more than equal to it.

Lincoln celebrates making it 2-1

Dan Tomlins, Peterborough manager on the poor second half performance and promotion:
"Disappointing result as our first half performance proved we can out play clubs such as Newcastle, but as of a number of occasions this season we lack that second half mentality and begin to loss possession more often."

"I think promotion is still a possibility but a very slender possibility now, we still have some huge ground to make up on the teams above us and need to begin to hit some good form in coming games"

Fulham Sign Three and Let two go

Fulham have let Emiliano Moretti go the defender in his short time at Fulham there were too many lows. But Moretti will always remember the 7-0 thumping of Birmingham. At Fulham he played 17 times setting up 1 goal before rejoining Genoa for 12.1m.

Fulham have also Evaverson Brandao return to Marseille for 6m the forward was a cult hero for his excoriation work rate but the fans got on his back due to his poor goal return. Brandao only played 12 times due to the manager rotational policy but he only scored 2 goals . He was behind in the pecking order due to his lack of his goals. Liedson and Owen were ahead of him . Then when Owen left Olic took over the mantel as the leading front man.

Now On the signings We at Fulham are proud to announce the signings of 3 players. They have signed 2 Brazilians a defender and a midfielder plus a Czech defender.

We are pleased to announce the signings of Anderson Hearnes the 24 year old Brazilian midfielder how despite his young age he vast experience in Brazil and in the world stage. He due to his great form he has picked up a Brazilian cap.

We have also signed Silva LEANDRO ALMEIDA the 23 year old Brazilian from Dyamo Kiev he was signed on a cheap due to the managers at both club have high regards for each other. And despite Fulham poor league position Leandro jumped at the change to sign for such a well supported club. It just shows you what the Fulham turn around in the last few games has done.

Last but not least again a fairly young and experienced players has joined the cottages . Micheal Kaldlec again on a cheap it seems the manager is now picking up bargain buys. Kaldlce will bolster the defence with his youthfulness and his vast experience and vast pace

With the rumours that Arnautovic was leaving he is still on the transfer list and it was his strike partner that left Coventry which shocked most of the fans, Iaquinta leading goalscorer for the club of 15 goals this season left for Milan and in his place came Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar,

Huntelaar is younger than Iaquinta and is very good in reading the game, and i feel that he is an excellent choice in replacing Iaquinta, i had no problems with Iaquinta but felt that we needed a change in strike force

Coventry boss also managed to sign 34yr old Italian Christiano Lucarelli,

Christiano may be in his mid 30's but he can score some very important goals, i had my eye on him since the start of the season ans thought that now was the right time to sign him as we enter the latter stages of the season

Both new signings will be making there debuts on wednesday against 2nd place Newcastle which manager Gadga said this game is very vital for us nothing more than a win will do, there some very good clubs in shouting distance behind us and a few defeats could see us fighting for a play off place which will hurt us as we don't want to lose top spot as it as been ours from the start of the season..

Huntelaar moves from Milan to Coventry..

Lucarelli moves from Parma to Coventry.

Another British Talent arrives in South Wales

James Tomkins returns to British football, joining Swansea from Slavia Sofia

Swansea City have completed the signing of 21 year old English centre-back James Tomkins, from Bulgarian club Slavia Sofia for a bargain fee of just £4,650,000.

Swansea have plenty of funds to spend, with the sales of Stefano Okaka, Nathan Dyer & Oguchi Onyewu strengthening Swansea's transfer funds to bring in players like Tomkins.

Tomkins joined Slavia towards the start of the season for a fee of £5,800,000, so a bargain fee of over a million less for the highly rated centre-back was a superb deal for Swansea.

Manchester City & Sheffield United were also interested in Tomkins, but Swansea faced no fellow bids for Tomkins who is likely to be at Swansea for seasons to come.

Swansea have said that their likely to bring in a higher profile centre-back, but Tomkins although won't break into the first team straight away is a long term prospect and will bring a lot of quality as a back up centre-back.

Tomkins has said he's delighted to have joined Swansea, and is very glad to have joined a club like Swansea with so much British talent. He joins the likes of Adam Matthews, Joe Allen & Jack Cork as part of the talent at Swansea, but Tomkins is set to be the likeliet to break through the youth squad and become a major first team player at Swansea.

O'Hara joins Tomkins at Swansea

O'Hara is another who has returned to British football with Swansea

Swansea have strengthend their midfield with the signing of former Tottenham, Millwall & Portsmouth centre-midfielder Jamie O'Hara. O'Hara arrives from Lecce for a bargain fee of £4,500,000 as an immeadiate replacement for Nathan Dyer.

O'Hara joined Lecce towards the start of the season, suprising Portmsouth fans as he joined the Italians for £6,600,000. He never settled at Lecce though, and after a dispute with the first team coach he was looking for a way back to Britain.

Peterborough, Leicester & Sheffield United all showed interest in O'Hara aswell as Swansea. With Peterborough almost signing O'Hara last week. Peterborough came in with a reasonable bid or O'Hara, but pulled out of the deal as they looked to bring in other players.

Swansea then came in for O'Hara and before long O'Hara was flying to South Wales to complete his medical. O'Hara is set to become a regular in the Swansea side, but does need to return to full fitness before making his Swansea debut.

O'Hara is delighted to have joined Swansea, were he looks to re-establish himself in British football. He's said that he's delighted to have joined a club looking on there way up, and ultimatly wants to play Division 1 football next season whether it's with Swansea or not.
