Jacob started off with his youth club Afrisport FC scoring an impressive 32 in 44. A move to Ligue 2 side LB Chataeuroux followed in 2004. In five years he managed 109 appearances for LB with 27 goals. Jacob moved to Eredivise side Utrecht where he has made 16 appearances so far this season scoring 5 of Utrertcht’s 23 goals this season.

Jacob has been an international since 2004; he has made 15 appearances and scored 4 goals. He has scored against both Cameroon and Tunisia in the 2010 ACON.

Rainford started his career with Zambian club Kitwe FC before moving to French OGC Nice, however he did not play much and was sent to Zambian Club Zesco United. Rainford moved to Sporting Braga in 2008 and spent the 2008/09 season on loan at Gil Vicente FC Making 22 appearances and scoring 4 goals. Rainford scored one of the goals that secured Zambia's place in the quarters.

Emmanuel is one of the youngest players in the tournament. He currently plays for Pyunik in Armenia though he started his career at Mining Rangers in Zambia. Emmanuel has shown maturity to play well in Zambia’s first two matches. Emmanuel has been a firm fixture in defence all through to the quarter finals where he had another great game, but Zambia were knocked out.

Mahamane started his career at Cercle Olympique de Bamako in Mali. He moved to Nice in 2005 and has since been a regular, popular for his quick feet, good movement and pace.

He will cut inside and move out to the touchline and is as happy to shoot as he is to cross. Would be a useful signing for a promoted or lower-mid table Premier League side and could develop into a top player.

Gedo has played for Ittihad in Egypt since 2005. He recently received a call up from the national team. Making his debut against Malawi. So far he has scored against both Nigeria and Mozambique. Gedo also scored against Cameroon to put Egypt ahead in aquarter final tie they would go on to win. Having scored 4 goals in 5 games, the 4th being in the thrashing of Angola Gedo is the top scorer of the cup despite having not started any of Egypt's games. Gedo scored in the final against Ghana to confirm his position as top scorer.

Ahmed Hassan

Hassan began his career in Egypt at Aswan FC before moving to Ismaily. He then spent 8 years in Turkey with clubs like Denizlispor and Besiktas before moving to Anderlecht in 2008 and then back to Egypt with Al Ahly.

Hassan captained Egypt in their ramapant campaign that ended in eventual victory and their 3rd consecutive title. Still as influential as ever at the ripe age of 34, Hassan has scored goals in the tournament helping Egypt to the final where they would lift the trophy.

Essam El Hadary

Essam has spent the majority of his career in Egypt. He played for Al Ahly for over 10 years before spending a brief spell at FC Sion and then moving back to Egypt with Ismaily.

He has played over 100 games in the Egyptian goal. He is renown for his goal celebrations but has also proved why he is a shoe in as goalie, only conceding 2 goals all through the tournament.

Bakary began his career at Etoile Filante in Burkina Faso before moving to Ligue 2 side EA Guingamp in 2006. He has since become a regular for the side.

Bakary put on a fine performance in central defence to deny Ivory Coast a win in their group game of the Nations Cup, keeping the likes of Drogba at bay. He has shown no nonsense defending through the tournament.

Jonathan Pitroipa

Jonathan spent 4 years with German club Freiburg making 75 appearances and scoring 16 goals. He moved to Hamburger SV in 2008 making 28 appearances in his first season with 1 goal. This season Jonathan has played 9 games so far.

Jonathan played in Burkina Faso’s impressive draw with Ivory Coast. In the match with Ghana he showed good pace to beat defenders and cause problems for the Ghanaian defence.

Charles Kabore

Charles was another player in the impressive 0-0 draw with Ivory Coast. Charles played an important role in protecting the back four.

Nicolas started in Kadji Sports Academy in Cameroon; where the likes of Samuel Eto’o and Kameni were produced. In 2008, he joined Monaco on a 3 year deal. He made 24 apps in his second season with them and has made 13 appearances so far this season, starting 11.

Nicolas has played in all of Cameroon’s games. He has been a solid figure in defence and showed signs of talent in Cameroon’s games. The 19-year-old Monaco centre-back put in an impressive performance, dominating both in the air and with his feet.

Georges Mandjeck

Mandjeck is another Kadji Sports Academy product. He moved to VFB Stuttgart in 2007. His chances at Stuttgart were somewhat limited and he was loaned out to Kaiserslauten in the 07/08 and 09/10 seasons. He has been a firm fixture in the 2 Bundesliga team, playing 17 and starting all 17.

Mandjeck has shown all the essential qualities of a good midfielder with powerful runs and good passes and tackles in the middle of the park. He has the potential to be a good player.

The Milan protégé, currently on loan at Lille has scored 1 goal in 10 appearances. Aubameyang played for France at youth level. He came on in the 1st game and looked exciting. In the 2nd game he had many good chances but failed to capitalise.

Didier Ovono

The goalkeeper made some fine saves to preserve Gabon’s lead in their clash with Cameroon, and keep a clean sheet. Ovono moved to Le Mans in 2009 and has since settled in as the club’s number 1. Ovono put on another good performance to keep his 2nd clean sheet and keep Gabon at the top of Group D, the only team yet to concede. Ovono let in two goals against Zambia that saw Gabon knocked out at the group stages so close to qualification.

Vorsah started out at homebased club All Blacks FC and Asante Kotoko before moving to 1899 Hoffenheim in 2007. He has made over 57 appearances mainly as a defensive midfielder.

In the tournament Vorsah has played as a CB and he has impressed with phenomenal tackles and solid defensive performances all through the tournament. His performances helped Ghana hold on to slender 1-0 leads that saw them get to the final.

Samuel Inkoom

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu
