He moved to Nice in 2005 and has since been a regular, popular for his quick feet, good movement and pace. He will cut inside and move out to the touchline and is as happy to shoot as he is to cross. B: 15/01/1973 Age: 37 Club: Ismaily SC Postion: GK Rating: 87 Essam has spent the majority of his career in Egypt. He played for Al Ahly for over 10 years before spending a brief spell at FC Sion and then moving back to Egypt with Ismaily. He has played over 100 games in the Egyptian goal. Jonathan played in Burkina Faso’s impressive draw with Ivory Coast. In the match with Ghana he showed good pace to beat defenders and cause problems for the Ghanaian defence. His chances at Stuttgart were somewhat limited and he was loaned out to Kaiserslauten in the 07/08 and 09/10 seasons. He has been a firm fixture in the 2 Bundesliga team, playing 17 and starting all 17. Ovono moved to Le Mans in 2009 and has since settled in as the club’s number 1. Ovono put on another good performance to keep his 2nd clean sheet and keep Gabon at the top of Group D, the only team yet to concede.
