he may be a 1 trick pony, but he is far far better than Walcott.

And can definately whip a cross / free kick in.

I think this year is an important season for him, i truelly believe he will get close to the form he had 2 seasons ago.

RE: TAIWO

Marseilles X PSG right now in the French Super Cup

If you want to watch Taiwo' date=' here's a link

[url']http://www.justin.tv/vip_wwe_1[/url] (in English)

FYI He's having a great match so far.

and on the official lfc channel (sky 434 i think) in the uk

Great thing about Taiwo (aside from what we mentioned previously) is that his big hoof creates chances in front of the goal.

How many times have we seen The Scum score some deflected goal (or the bazillion Own Goals last season) ? It happens all the times for them. Mostly because they have players who can create enough and put the ball into a dangerous enough spot.

Taiwo does the same thing with his big left foot.

Case in point... Today's match. Pretty even match so far, but with 5 min to go he lets loose a laser from outside the box. Some player for Marseilles sticks out his foot and deflects the ball, and the ball hits the post.

It would be nice to have that attribute for LFC this season.

Oh and btw, game just went to PKs and he took the 1st one and slotted it home.

Re: Official Liverpool Thread

The more I think about it' date=' the more I come to the same conclusion. If we're contemplating buying him to play in his favoured RB position, [b']we're simply pushing Stephen Kelly further down the pecking order. If we've signed him for LB - Why??[/b] Surely there's a natural LB we can get instead. Unless Johnson is still being coveted by some club behind closed doors, I can't see any benefit at all (other than the homegrown rota argument). Aston villa must be loving it!

we'll need to sign him first:D hes possibly the worst right back in the world. how could you get him mixed up with martin kelly

:eek::eek:

Great news if true (not on the official website yet)... He still has a lot to offer imo and of course brings depth to where we need it the most. Also, there were rumours about the Insua to Fiorentina deal collapsing but Wilson has been given the number 22 so I guess Insua will leave then:(

Hope it is' date=' hes my favourite player and I was gobsmacked to hear he was released. If he gets fit, he can rival the other big four left-backs.[/quote']

his left boot has to be one of the best in the world, if it wasnt for his freak injury, wouldve also been starting for brazil at the wc, brilliantly versatile also, can still remeber his showing against pompey two seasons ago from cm.

A lot of good news for Liverpool recently!

If you were ever going to buy anybody from Aston Villa this summer' date=' I would have expected it to be more a return for Stephen Warnock rather than signing Luke Young. Still, a very intelligent signing by Roy :) (assuming he signs).[/quote']

I find this qiute fascinating that we(pool fans) are getting so happy that were signing such a mediocre player, quite frankly we have too much at this club, if it was another team buying young, we would be saying that theyre wasting their money, but, but because were buyin him, hes a 'good player':D

Regarding Mash, inter apparently made a bid of 13m£ and muntari.

According to goal.com, muntari had an excellent wc:rolleyes:

Would much rather haver mariga or motta as part of the deal.

It's a cheap deal involving a good English player who has lot's of experience, and that counts for a lot. How many cheap English players are there out there? Muntari was a great midfielder the last time he was in England, so it wouldn't be as bad as you might make it out to be. Mariga just joined Inter, and Motta would be a good makeweight, although unproven in England.

Re: Official Liverpool Thread

I will be so pleased if Aurelio does stay (I said months ago it should happen).

For me he was our best set peice taker and most talented player when he was fit.

Ever heard of Steven George Gerrard:eek::rolleyes:

Heres something to remind you:rolleyes:

Re: Official Liverpool Thread

he's someone who can play both FB positions and fills a quota slot' date=' plus he's a decent if not great player who could do a solid job at stand in, and also it reduces the likelihood of kelly playing far too much like with insua last season[/quote']

To be honest I acknowledged that earlier in the thread, but I'm still not fully convinced the reasoning is so sound. But, I'd be delighted for him to prove me wrong if the deal goes through :). It's clear Hodgson has been an admirer of him for a while and tried to get him for Fulham previously.

not when they paid £6m for him 2 years ago

oh' date=' and apparently fabio's signed a 1 year pay as you play deal[/quote']

He was certainly a fans favourite in many quarters in Villa (as Adam has shown), but I'm not sure O'Neill fancied him too much. I couldn't envisage him getting much playing time at Villa this season, hence the tongue-in-cheek 'Villa will be happy' comment :P. Which begs the question, if he's not good enough for Villa, how can he be good enough for us? (without meaning any disrespect to Villa).

Delighted Fabio signed (heard rumours over the last two days, but assumed it was a longshot at best). Not convinced Young will be able to fulfil th2 LB role to the standard required all season round and with other LBs being priced out of our range, glad to have him back on board

we'll need to sign him first:D hes possibly the worst right back in the world. how could you get him mixed up with martin kelly

Made a few boo-boos today :o . Maybe it's time to hang up my boots

Obviously Gerrard is our best player and most inportant. But that is mostly to do with his passion and desire. He gives everything because it means everything and he has great talent too.

But in terms of technical abillity Aurellio would be our best player. Even Reina said as much last season.

As for Young. It has collapsed and he is not coming (yes!) I think that Cole should be the benchmark of all our signings, we need top quality players that the other teams would also be desperate for to give us the edge.

Can you see Spurs, Man U, City, Arsenal or Chelsea even looking twice at Luke Young?

Re: Official Liverpool Thread

imo you're all too worried about whether we sign Young or not because he wouldn't cost much and would be just a backup. What worries me the most is that Pacheco has publicly said he'd like a transfer to Spain because he won't get enough chances at Liverpool. Hopefully Roy convinces him to stay and gives him a lot of opportunities because we wouldn't get a lot of money from him. I'm not sure if even a loan move would be good for us because he'd probably ask a permanent move after 1 season (at Real Sociedad). I rate Maxi very highly but I'd still rather sell him than Pacheco...

Re: Official Liverpool Thread

True' date=' but do the teams mentioned have as poor squads and as little funding as Liverpool.

Same answer to a different question.

No :)

Young , will be a good solid back up player, christ who do you expect ?[/quote']

I agree, Im one of those who would be happy with Young signing, as long as he knows he wont be first choice, as he would be up against Johnson on the right and Aurelio on the left.

Yeah ofcourse he isnt good enough to start for Liverpool, but like you say, aslong as he doesnt expect to be first choice ( and i doubt he would ), whats the problem, If its collapsed it doesnt matter, but if its true, Roy clearly doesnt have faith in what you have coming through the system at this moment in time, considering his age, it wouldnt be a long contract and the time he is at the club can be for a youngster or two to develop and hopefully, for you guys, make the step up.

I see alot of people moaning on here about the potential signing , but what do you want to do instead ? He can play at both LB and RB, is a solid, experienced prem defender, who is a pretty good player, not great, or up to first 11 standard for you guys, but your not buying him for that reason.

You dont have the money to go and invest in an up and coming right back, and at this moment in time, maybe Kelly is just to much of a risk, do you want to be trying to claw your way back into the top 4 by chucking academy graduates in at the deep end ?
