Player News

A few weeks ago, at an under-14 footballing tournament held in Sant Cugat, near Barcelona, FC Barcelona may have found itself another ‘Messi’. Playing for a guest Korean team is a 13-year-old forward wearing the team’s captain arm-band that dazzled everyone present, including a number of coaches and scouts from professional clubs with his technical abilities, and one of them is Guardiola’s assistant Tito Vilanova.

Impressed, Tito made further research and inquiries, and what he found out is quite notable for a kid that age. It seems Park Sheng Ho is already a kind of a phenomenon for that football-crazy nation. Despite his young age, the player is said to already have a special contract with Nike, and back home, is labelled as the ‘Korean Messi’; probably referring to the Argentine’s early beginnings. The striker has impressed the coaching staff, and Sport claim that they said they had not seen anything like him in recent years.

The Catalan club had offered to give the Korean wonderkid a trial at the Ciutat Esportivo for three days, where he got the chance to see the first team in action, a possible attempt by the club to entice him to join the famous La Masia and be a canterano.

After a few days, a report emerged that Barcelona had reached an agreement with the young striker and his family to move to Barcelona in the next summer. The contract negotiations were concluded quickly in order to stave off interest from other clubs, and Sheng Ho will now join the Catalan giants' youth ranks in the summer.

Baek Seung-Ho "The Korean Messi"

aaaattt.jpg

Baek Seung-Ho (or Park Sheng Ho)

Earlier this year Barcelona hosted a Youth Cup Tournament in Korea and both Barcelona and Real Madrid scouts were present at this event. Both clubs representatives were very impress with Baek Seung-Ho's performence and were quick to inform there respective clubs of this new young talent. Baek Seung-Ho was dubbed as the Korean Messi by locals because of his skills as well as his pace.

Baek Seung-Ho had stated that Park was his favorite player and that he wishes to play in a similar style to Arsenal's Robin Van Persie. He also wishes to play for Manchester United and Chelsea when he grows up. He is described as a pacy and very crafty player who despite his small size can trick almost any player. He was a prolific goal scorer in his Youth Team scoring 24 goals in 13 games for his team. Baek Seung-Ho dreams to be succesful like Park in the Premier League someday.

Baek Seung-Ho was snatched up by Barcelona a few days after this tournament and has been training with Barcelona for a few months now. Barcelona had to fight off interest from Real Madrid for this 12 year old Korean. During his time at Barcelona he has been promoted to their Youth A team from the B team. As well as dropping back and playing a midfield role instead of his usual forward role in Korea.

Opinions

Well, i've seen a couple videos of him and he seems to have quite a knack for scoring, then again the kid is only 13 so he has plenty of time to develop. He has to be something good as Barcelona and Real Madrid had quite the fight to sign this kid. He also has a contract with Nike already which seems quite impressive.

Heh, he can only play like RvP if he comes to Arsenal.

Great find! Is he on the DB? :P:D
