Man of The Match: Alou Diarra (9/10)

Manchester City got off to winning ways after a edgy 1-0 victory of Wigan Athletic Athletic. The game was a much publicized one as it meant a return for Sparky back into management as well as the hosts giving debuts to numerous new stars. Players such as Demichelis, Schweinstiger, Gourcuff, Chamakh, Boriello and Montolivo started in a new look City squad where only Wayne Bridge and Souza Robinho remain from Mancini's era at the club.

The hosts did get off to a good start, Robinho scuffing and easy chance and Italian midfield maestro Montolivo being denied by the woodwork.

Montolivo Denied By The Woodwork

The second half started and more chances missed by the hosts brought up a feeling that it would not be their day. Robinho and Boriello missing chances. But on the 66th minute, Schweinstiger's pinpoint corner found French holding midfielder Alou Diarra who majestically headed into the net. The place exploded as the hosts had finally got their first goal of the 2010 season.

Diarra Heads City Into The Lead

Chances came and went for both sides but Wigan failed to respond and City failed to add to their lead. The game ended 1-0 giving manager Sparky a valuable opening day win.

Amazing start from Everton!

Everton continued their impressive start this season with a fantastic 4-3 victory at Stamford Bridge yesterday. This comes after beating Burnley 4-3 at home on Saturday and VFB Stuttgart 3-2 away from home in the first leg in the first round of the SMFA Shield. Everton will play Sunderland at home on Saturday.

This game began in sensational fashion. Nicolas Anelka smashed the hosts into the lead with a tap in following a poor goal kick from Tim Howard. Four minutes in and 1-0 Chelsea suggested that it would more than likely be a comfortable day for Chelsea. But that was not to be the case, Yakubu chipped Petr Cech from outside the area with ball rolling over the line for an instant equaliser. Steven Pienaar broke down the right hand side and crossed from Yakubu who powered a header into the top corner with Petr Cech motionless, 2-1 Everton eight minutes in. Tim Howard had to be at his best saving from Mikel and Anelka as Chelsea looked for an equaliser. Tim Cahill should have made it 3-1 but he fired wide when one on one with Cech. Just before half time and Chelsea suffered a massive blow, Louis Saha smashed the ball from eighteen yards into the top corner as he beat John Terry to the ball. Half time: Chelsea 1-3 Everton.

A few minutes after the restart and Chelsea pulled a vital goal back with Ryan Babel getting his first goal since moving from Liverpool with a powerful shot from outside the box which flew into the top corner. Two minutes later and Louis Saha beat both Carvalho and Terry before calmly placing the ball into the bottom corner to the delight of the travelling Everton fans. Saha should have got his hat trick a minute later but he shot wide when well positioned. Yakubu headed powerfully towards the bottom corner but a stunning Petr Cech save kept it out. Babel grazed the top of the bar with a header as Chelsea looked for a way back into the game. Mikel shot wide before Aboutrika pulled a goal back for Chelsea with a header with thirteen minutes left. In injury time Anelka produced a stunning save out of Tim Howard as Chelsea looked for the equaliser. But Everton held on for a famous victory and to keep their 100% start going. Full Time: Chelsea 3-4 Everton.

Re: Gold Championship 108 Match Reports/Transfers

Thort it would be a Barcelona or Real Madrid offer that made me sell the 23 year old center half, but money bags Manchester City have made me sell him after a deal come in a could not turn down. Now I am a big fan of Mats but when a offer like this comes up you have to take it.

The Belgium manager will be happy to see these two move here. I am happy to welcome a player I have been in the hunt for since taking over in Kompany and getting Boyata is even better for my squad. This means our team still has its AvR of 92 but we have welcomed a player soon to be a 93 and a player soon to be a 84+

I am real happy and still looking for deals so get in touch.
