Sparky Appointed At The Giuseppe Meazza

Just under 24 hours, Italian champions Internazionale appointed Sparky as Jose Mourinho's successor for the 2010 Lega Calcio. Internazionale has seen rapid arrivals and departures of managers with Mancini leaving not so long ago, but new man Ahmed say he plans to stay for as long as ever. He told SSN:

It's a great club, the best in the Italy. They have a great history and some of the best players in the world. Anyone would jump at the chance to manage Internazionale and it's a place where I wish to spend many years here.

De Rossi Makes Shock Inter Switch!

Just a few hours ago, Internazionale announced the signature of Italy's most hottest property. Ball winner Danielle De Rossi made the switch from Rome to Milan on a 4 year deal worth £13,000,000. Going to Roma in return was striker Goran Pandev and former Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari. It is the first deal to go through since the transfer window opened in a switch that has shocked the whole of Italy. De Rossi, 26, who was thought to be a Roma player for life made the switch after a new manager was announced. The door opened for De Rossi and Inter came knocking. De Rossi will line up in a midfield that sees Cambiasso, Mascherano, Robben and Sneijder.

De Rossi Makes Shock Move To Internazionale

Other headline moves include Argentine pitbull Javier Mascherano playing alongside his Argentine counterparts and Samuel Eto'o leaving in return for Scweinstiger and Demichelis, another Argentinian. Internazionale's midfield is slowly becoming one of the best in the world although manager Sparky has revealed his concerns about his strike force:

We have three strikers; Negredo, Balotelli and Arnautovic. We need to add new players otherwise we will struggle to score goals. I fully trust Negredo and Balotelli to get the goals although just to make sure, we have agreed a deal for last year's Bundesliga hitman Ibisevic

Internazionale Midfield 'Best In World'

Internazionale are now expecting the arrival of Robben in the morning whilst veteran defender Ivan Cordoba is set to leave the Giuseppe Meazza. Captain Javier Zanetti has also been made available.

Massive Changes at St. James Park

New Manager Sacha Canning, has radically changed Newcastle Football. Since taking over the club on the 8th of April, several players have swapped their jerseys to Newcastle pinstripes.

Australian midfielder Tim CAHILL. Easily the best player on the current NUFC squad.

German Winger/Forward Ashkan Dejagah, another star player looking to make an impact.

Belgian Striker Tom DE SUTTER, 24 years old and already making a name for himself.

Argentinian Defender Lucas Licht.

None of the players came cheap, and outgoing from Newcastle are:

Andrew Carrol

Fitz Hall

Alan Smith

Jonas Guttierez

Kevin Nolan

Canning is highly optimistic of the upcoming season, and stated in front of reporters on Sunday, that he believes Newcastle have an excellent shot at achieving promotion to the Premiership. Of the new signings, Cahill looks to be the biggest one, and if the Aussie shines as bright as he did at Everton, you can expect an attacking Newcastle, with De Sutter and Dejagah to produce plenty of goals in this upcoming season.

Re: Gold Championship 111 Match Reports/Transfers

Lega Calcio - Matchday 1

Bologna 0-2 FC Internazionale

Venue: Renato Dall'Ara

Attendance: 22,808

Referee: flags_of_Switzerland.gifJerome Laperriere

Italian champions FC Internazionale started their league campaign with a 2-0 win away at Bologna. A mere 22,800 arrived to see the Italian champions in action in a star studded line up which boasted players such as Schweinstiger, Mascherano, Xavi Hernandez and more. Players such as Arjen Robben and Esteban Cambiasso were rested however due to an upcoming SMFA game. Alvaro Negredo also made his debut in Sparky's first game in charge.

The Milan based club packed the midfield, displaying Mourinho's typical 4-3-3 with Xavi being used as the primary playmaker. The Midfield Maestro who landed in Italy the night before had insisted that he was fit to play and wasn't wrong when he came close, just shooting inches wide.

It got worse as Martin Demichelis was booked for diving into the penalty box and chances scuffed by bastian Schweinstiger, Danielle De Rossi and Adriano showed signs that it may just be one of those days.

Half time couldn't come soon enough for Internazionale. It was a time for a lengthly team talk and it was the time where the managers earned their money. However, it got worse for Internazionale as Martin Demichelis was sent off for a second yellow card, this time kicking the ball away before Bologna can take their free kick:rolleyes:. Two stupid free kicks to be given away by the Argentine.

Demichelis Sent off As Teammate Mascherano Looks On

Inter pressed and pressed and it eventually paid off as former Roma cult hero Daniele De Rossi slotted in after some neat footwork. The holding midfielder skipping past three defenders and passes the ball into the corner allowing him to get his first Inter goal on his debut and helps break the deadlock.

De Rossi Scores A Neat Goal To Break The Deadlock

And it wasn't long before FC Internazionale found their normal form. Chance after chance came as Lucio, Xavi and Adriano were close to finding the net. Then on the 76th minute, Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo climbed over the defender to tower a header into the top corner. It was game over from there.

Negredo Headers To Secure The Win

Internazionale came away with all three points and unsurprisingly dominated possession and the chances created. The champions will now prepare themselves for a feisty meeting against Arsenal in the SMFA Champions Cup group stage where Dutch international Arjen Robben is expected to start.

77_1197411303.gif vs. 52_1195026324.gif

Swansea City 3-1 Newcastle United FC

Day one for the magpies went horribly wrong from the kick-off. Finnish Center Forward Shefki Kuqi immediately raced up the pitch and after just 2 minutes of attacking play Kuqi raced around Collocini and banged the ball into the roof of the net. Less than 2 minutes later he added a second after the Newcastle defence was left hopeless by a lofted pass by Derdiyok and Kuqi confidently slotted a left footed finish under Steve Harper. After a lot of shouting by Captain Tim Cahill Newcastle dominated the game afterwards and on the 22 minute mark Cahill delivered German Forward Ashkan Dejagah with a beautiful through ball and Dejagah, sending the keeper the wrong way made it 2-1. Newcastle continued to boss the play, but could not make anything happen before the break.

After the half it looked as if Newcastle could tie the game up but after a horrible miscue by Taylor, Cedric Van Der Gun found himself with loads of time and made no mistakes from 15 yards making it 3-1 to Swansea. Up until about the 70th minute all life looked lost from Newcastle's play and when Danny Guthrie came off in the 75th with a foot injury it looked all over for the magpies. They put up a decent fight in the end and it took 3 fantastic saves from De Vries in the last 10 minutes to keep the game in Swansea's favor. Dejagah won Man of the Match award, for stellar play in a losing effort.

The game was a huge disappointment for league favorites Newcastle, and although it was only the first game, it could be the start of another heart wrenching season of Newcastle football. Newcastle's next game is away at Division 5 club Mansfield Town, and Newcastle are heavy favorites to advance to the next round of the English Shield.
