Re: Gold Championship 111 Match Reports/Transfers

Newcastle United 1-1 West Bromwich Albion

Ashkan Dejagah (NUFC) 40'

Robert Koren (WBA) 89'

Attendance: 41,098

Newcastle secured their first point in Division 2 today with a draw against promotion competitors West Brom. Dejagah'd diving header on a lofted ball by Tim Cahill resulted in Newcastle taking the lead, Newcastle had the majority of possession and did well in keeping the ball. With 1 minute to go however, Robert Koren equalized with a goal. His first shot was stopped well by Harper but the rebound fell right at Koren's feet and he smashed the equalizer home. Dejagah, one of Newcastle's key signings and who has netted 2 goals in as many games, is out for at least a month with a hamstring injury. A huge blow to Newcastle, as they try to jump out of the gates with a good start in their attempt to secure promotion.

Great Match in Portugal:

simbolo-slb-actual.gif2 vs 4 fc+porto+simbolo.jpg

We had to wait to the Second game of the season to see the biggest game in Portugal, a game involving two big enemies battling for the title. After a bright start of season for both teams, one had to drop points. Due to high price of tickets only 43,659 went to stadium to see the ''Classico''.

An overview of the Stadium where only were 3000 fans of Porto.

ultrasporto.bmp

15: GOAL!! - Óscar CARDOZO thunders in an overhead kick! Fanastic athleticism!

Cardozo celebrating his first (and only) goal of the game, 3rd of the season:

cardozo3.JPG

The things became worser when:

33: GOAL!! - A miss-hit shot from Jorge CARLOS MARTINS squirms under the keepers body! He's embarrassed to claim that one!

Cagliari+Calcio+v+Atalanta+BC+Serie+JjcJQhXcOspl.jpg

Marchetti was unbeliever of what happened..

But as when an hero appeared, Daniele Conti.

42: GOAL!! - Daniele CONTI beats two defenders and slots home a great solo effort!
44: GOAL!! - A corner is headed clear only as far as Daniele CONTI who hits it on the half-volley into the roof of the net!

And in two minutes Porto equalised and were the best team at that time.

Conti controlling the ball to make the half-volley.

To complete the volte-face, Farias made the 2-3.

66: GOAL!! - Ernesto FARIAS finds himself in yards of space and he makes no mistake from 15 yards!

The last goal of match was scored by the MoM, Raul Meireles:

86: GOAL!! - Raul MEIRELES dummies the keeper and slides the ball into the empty net!

Last Gasp Xavi Saves Internazionale

Venue: Giuseppe Meazza

Attendance: 51,953

Referee: flags_of_Uruguay.gifRoberto Silvera

PALACIO, Rodrigo 5

XAVI, Hernandez 88

Internazionale needed Spanish Midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez to rescue them as his 30 yard screamer on the 88th minute saved the Italian champions from defeat against a fired up Genoa.

Internazionale had defensive problems prior to the game as Argentine defender Martin Demichelis was suspended and Brazilian veteran Lucio wasn't match fit. In stepped Kyrgiakos and Federico Fazio to cover for them but it didn't look too good as they conceded almost straight away as Argentine Rodrigo Palacio guided a header into the corner of the net leaving the home fans stunned.

The goalscorer was then sent off however after a petulant kick at his marker.

RodrigoPalacioG0204_468x353.jpg

Palacio Scores & Then Sent Off In 3 Minutes

Genoa knew they had their work cut out but it gave Internazionale a hope to get an equalizer even a winner but the Genoa defense, particularly, Dainelli were in top form. The away side also came close several times as Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar had to rescue his side numerously. Fazio and Kyrgiakos were struggling...

The second half started with Internazionale fired up to grab a goal but the Genoa defense worked and worked to keep the home side at bay. The game had reached its ending. There was 2 minutes plus stoppage time to go... Many Inter fans had started to vacate the stadium as on the 88th minute Xavi picked up the ball and struck a 30 yard screamer into the top corner! The fans and the Inter bench went wild and so did Xavi who marked his first goal for the club with a special strike. He won't score a more important goal than that!

Xavi Screamer Rescues Inter

Internazionale were extremely lucky as Genoa came close numerous times. The man of the match rightly went to Julio Cesar. Internazionale are now preparing themselves for a gruelling test against Fiorentina. Lucio comes back but Demichelis is still out meaning Kyrgiakos will continue in the centre of defense. Daniele De Rossi comes back as Mascherano is rested. Anelka drops to the bench whilst Spanish target man Negredo starts...

Newcastle show signs of brilliance at home

Newcastle United 3-0 Coventry City

Peter Lovenkrands 14'

Tom De Sutter 35' 62'

Attendance-40,375

Newcastle United looked top draw Saturday, dominating Coventry at St. James Park. Lovenkrands and De Sutter both opened their scoring accounts in the young season, Lovenkrands heading home a lovely ball from Licht, and De Sutter netting home from a cross by debutee Kapetanos and then making a beautiful run through the middle and making a cool finish past the keeper. Newcastle hope this is the start of a good run of form, and the win brings them up to 11th place on the table. Although the season is still young, you rarely end up far from when you start, and Newcastle need to build on this win to have a shot at promotion for next year. Newcastle play host to Notts County monday, in round two of the English Shield.

7 th Wonder Porto beat Braga

fc+porto+simbolo.jpg7 vs 1 dk_787_sporting-braga.mini.jpg

Porto were very confidents after 4 consecutives wins. 3 of them away, at Estádio da Luz, Estádio D. Afonso Henriques and after last Friday at Celtic Park by 3-1 for SMFA Champions Cup.

Falcao early opened the result.

3: GOAL!! - The keeper parries a powerful shot but Radamel FALCAO follows up on the rebound!

Few minutes later, Farias doubled the lead.

6: GOAL!! - Ernesto FARIAS finds himself in yards of space and he makes no mistake from 15 yards!

Here he is, celebrating is 8th goal of season is just 5 games. He is proving that the nickname he received in Portugal is wrong, Férias.(Holidays)

Quickly Porto scored the 3rd and the 4th.

27: GOAL!! - Raul MEIRELES finishes neatly inside the box
31: GOAL!! - Gabriel CRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ finishes from a yard

The 2nd half started as started the first. Porto scored another goal early.

50: GOAL!! - Some excellent passing leaves Raul MEIRELES clear on goal and he finishes with ease!

Raul thanking to Mariano his great pass.

After this goal, Porto moved a little back. And only in the last 5 minutes scored again. With Falcao making the 6-1 and Rolando the 7-1.

86: GOAL!! - Radamel FALCAO nonchalantly lobs it over the advancing keeper!
87: GOAL!! - Jorge ROLANDO volleys it into the back of the net

Falcao bleeding at the end of the game. As a Braga fan not liked his attitude after his 2nd goal tonight.

With 5 games, Porto still first with 15 points, more 5 than the new 2nd placed Sporting. Next game Porto will face Leixoes to try keep 100% victories.

Robben Grabs His First Goal For Internazionale

It wasn't much of a test for Internazionale as they thrashed Atalanta 4-1 at home. Before the match, Atalanta were at the top of the table looking to extend their league, but manager Sparky had different ideas. The Italian side were fresh from their 5-0 thumping victory over New England Revolutions and wanted to continue their great form with a win against Atalanta.

Last minute changes saw Anelka, Robben, Xavi and Negredo start and it seemed to have pay off as three goals came from Robben and Negredo combined.

The game however was level after half time. Nether team were able to break the deadlock. Inter has pressed continuously but misses from Anelka and Schweinstiger meant the game would be level going into the second half.

However, it didn't take long for the Italian champions to break the deadlock. The half time team talk saw Inter more refreshed and determined as Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo sweetly struck a right footed shot right into the goal.

328.jpg

Negredo's Sweet Strike Breaks Deadlock

There was little chance for Atalanta as their main chance fell to Ernesto Chevanton who failed to capitalize on the defensive mistakes made by Internazionale.

Argentine Midfield maestro Esteban Cambiasso then marked off a beautiful solo effort with a goal. One of the season no doubt as he skipped past two Atalanta defenders and slotted home.

Atalanta did see their way back into the game with a goal from Ernesto Chevanton to cast doubt on Inter minds but Alvaro Negredo soon erased them with a magnificent curler.

The game was soon put to bed after Dutch sensation Arjen Robben thumped in a volley into the back of the net. The Dutchman grabbing his first ever goal for Internazionale, and in style too.

robben-001.jpg

Robben Volley Seals The Game For Internazionale

Internazionale manager Sparky was delighted with the result and told SSN:

It's a brilliant team performance. I was reluctant to start many of our first team as they had just played in the SMFA Cup. But I didn't want to take risks as we did the same against Fiorentina (By resting Xavi, Cambiasso, Anelka) and paid the price. We are starting to see some good form and hopefully we can keep it that way.

Internazionale are currently 4th after five games played. However they are the only team out of the 'top four' who currently lead. Milan are hot on their trails whilst Juventus could face a relegation battle if they're not careful :D

The Italian champions will now play Bologna in the second round of the Italian shield. A win would see the giants win 5 games out of 5.

Newcastle United bounce back from heart wrenching Shield exit

Newcastle United 4-3 Queens Park Rangers

Attendance: 41,136

Referee: Manuel Gonzalez

After a heart breaking 89th minute goal for West Brom knocked out Newcastle United in the English Shield, Sacha Canning's side bounced back with a very close 4-3 victory at home against QPR. Tim Cahill, Damien Diaz, and Pantelis Kapetanos all opened their scoring accounts for the season, Cahill grabbing the first in the 21st minute, Diaz only 2 minutes after with a brilliant finish, and Kapetanos grabbed the third in the 70th minute, and then crashing home the game winner in the 85th after his shot deflected off a defender into the net. Tim Cahill bossed the midfield, and won the man of the match after another impressive performance. Quoted after the game Canning said:

"I'm very happy with today's performance. After losing our two goal lead, we never gave up and we kept our heads up. I'm very pleased with how we played this afternoon, the side showed a lot of character and I think we can continue this form in the coming weeks".

Newcastle United now move into 8th place, just 4 points back of league leaders West Brom. Newcastle travel to Middlesbrough in what promises to be another exciting derby match.

5 Star Porto beat Leixões

Leix%C3%B5es.png____0 vs 5____porto.gif

After 5 consecutive wins, a thought was in all the Portuguese football fans. Who will stop Porto in their run to the title? Much thought that this move away to Estádio do Mar would be the start of the Porto fall, but it wasn't.

Porto had more problems to start to score than in other games. This maybe happened due to Farías be resting himself for Saturday game against Sporting.

As Farías was having a uninspired night. Falcao took advantage of it and opened the score.

Porto was having some facilities inside of the area but couldn't score. Untill that..

ca967162-b341-4feb-88dd-fecb0766bf67_738D42D9-134C-4FBE-A85A-DA00E83FDC20_82BD88E9-2B55-44A8-870A-D9371C32082D_img_destaque_pt_1.jpg

Falcao thanking to God is 2nd goal tonight.

2-0 was the result at half time.. But early in the 2nd half, Porto tried to solve the game quickly.

marianogonzalez6.JPG

Mariano putting the hand in his head, after scoring is first goal of career with his head!

12 minutes later, Mariano equalised Falcao in the number of goals in this game! Making it 4-0 to Porto

Cristian Rodriguez made the 5th goal of the night and with that Porto started to play slowly, thinking in the game of Saturday.

At the full time, Porto won 5-0. After 6 games(and 6 wins) have more 5 points than 2nd Sporting, which they will play at home next game. If they win, they open a gap of 8 points which would be hard to catch!

Edit: How in preview appears the 2 logos and the result in middle of them( in same line), and not appears when i post? :S

Arsenal are on the verge of signing another young prospect. 18 year old Granit Xhaka who earned his first cap for Switzerland against England at Wembley just over a week ago looks to be plying his trade at North London. A fee has been agreed with FC Basel believed to be just £1.29million.

Manchester United and Ajax are in pole position to sign Alessandro Del Piero. Both teams have made a bid of around £10.5million and a decision will be made by tomorrow on where he will be ending up. Arsenal have confirmed other offers are welcome but the deadline is tomorrow evening. It seems the last league fixture of the season will be Del Piero's last game for Arsenal as it's been confirmed he will be involved at Anfield.

Arsenal have ended the season with the SMFA Champions Cup! A great achievement from a team that was missing Fabregas, Wilshere and Walcott in the final due to injuries as well as Diaby down to suspension. However luck was needed to get past the finishing line. :P
