Facundo is Mawby's life Sava

A single goal was enough to win a tough match against top of the table side Queensland Roar with Facundo SAVA (88) providing Rob Mawby with some much needed relief and hope that his side can still make a last minute assault on the title.

Mawby had put himself under some pressure before the game after he stormed out of his own press conference declaring "We've proved a lot this season, we've won the Leamington invitational cup for the first time and maintained a high position in the league and now we will prove ourselves once again by getting something out of this game or our title dream is finished this season". Now Mawby is in a much happier mood and had this to say "It's looking good for us. The team came together and got the result and thats all that counts. This really was a six pointer and we've clawed back now to just 5 points behind Queensland which is fantastic".

Mawby also pointed out that the other 3 sides in the top four had to face each other at least once in the last 5 games but that his Crawley side had faced all of the other teams twice this season allready.

An exciting end to the season is instore, that is for definate. Hugh Jass for the Crawley Observer.

FANS TURN ON GAZLAD

In the come and meet the manager meeting at grays athlectic lastnight wasn't what newly manager was expecting as the fans turned on him, by asking why they havn't won a game since he is in charge, replied gazlad the manager before me had only won 2 games, and iv'e only be here for 3 games lost 2 and drew 1, so whats ur point.

Angry fans didn't like the response they got : what changes are u going to do then replied the fans: well as the season is only what 6 or seven games away till the end and we are not going to get promotion, i've spoke to the chairman and he has agrred that i will be playing around with the squad and formation looking for the right one thats suits the team and at the end of the season i will releasing players and drafting in new faces and rebuild a squad, : like who: i've got a few in mind; : who: lets says i'm looking at a few lads from crewe and port vale also there are a few in div 3 that look good, but at the end of the days money plays a big part:

Phoenix rises to kill the Devils

Despair for Crawley fans as their title dream is all but over after they lost 5-2 to Wellington Phoenix. Goals from Adelino VIEIRINHA (82), Salvatore FOTI (82), Mariano BOGLIACINO (83) and Daniele DESSENA (85) were enough to kill Crawley's title hopes. Antonio FILIPPINI (88) and Facundo SAVA (88) grabbed the goals for Crawley.

Mawby was full of praise for the team and fans saying "We've done well this season, it may not be us in 1st or 2nd place at the end of the season but we won the cup and we're still in the top half and that takes a lot to acheive. The fans have been amazing too, they sing their hearts out at each game and have been to 12th man for us. I just wish we could've gave them the success they deserve" "Even though its still possible for us to win the league mathematically I would have to say its between Queensland and County now with my bet on County"

It's been a great season so lets hope our boys can try and stay in 3rd place until the end of the season! Hugh Jass for the Crawley Observer.

NOTTS COUNTY V QUEENSLAND ROAR

Looking forward to this game:) in what could be the title decider:eek:.Raz's Notts County are last seasons champs and with home advantage must fancy themselves as favourites to win back to back championships.

On paper Notts have the better side but thank god it's being played on the PC:D.

Anyway looking forward to a good game, all the best for tonight Raz and may the best side win.:)

GRAYS JOY AS THEY WIN

Grays celebrated tonite like they have just won the title, NO they won a league match by beating cowdenbeath 2-1, gazlad could not hide his joy and ran on the pitch jumping up and down hugging all his players the 1000 garys fans were going wild...

On the 13th min mark OLI ran onto a through ball and thumped it into the top corner, then a very rare sight this season grays went 2-0 up on the 21st min as JULIANO pounced a short back pass, gazlad; the players and the fans went wild then after gazlad came down from the floodlights , he orderd his players to calm down, the half time whistle went with a big raw from the home fans they have witnessed the best performance to date.

The second half cowdenbeath came back to life and put grays under pressure and pulled a goal back in the 66th min as COLOMBANO culed his shot after he picked up a short corner, as cowdenbeath pushed forward and put more pressure on grays the grays back 4 were working overtime but hung on for there first win under gazlads era and to record there 2nd win of the season.

NOTTS COUNTY 1-1 QUEENLAND ROAR

Mark Viduka(63) Steven Reid(77)

Over 20,000 packed in to watch the top two battle it out for what could be the title decider. Both managers had their best available squads out and could do little but watch the action.

A tense first half seen both teams probing for weakness in the other side and few chances came their way.

All **** broke loose on 35mins when Notts County youngster Sotiris Ninis got a straight red for headbutting one of the Queensland players.Manager Raz quickly reorgainized his side and the sides stayed level to the break.

The second half started with Queensland dominating possession and shots on goal with the man advantage but Notts stood firm and a break away on 63 mins seen Mark Viduka smash in the opening goal and send the County fans wild.

The Roar huffed and puffed with manager Kev roaring on the touchline but County held.

On 75mins Kev decided to gamble with the introduction of Steven Reid and with nearly his first touch he chipped the ball towards the County Goalie who fumbled and watched as the ball crossed the line.

The Aussie traveling support went bannanas!!!

A tense finish to the game seen no more goals and as the final whistle blew it was all square.

The title is not decided yet and it is all down to the last game.Whichever of these two teams hold their nerve will be celebrating on Thursday night:)

Re: The Leamington Invitational Official Thread

Despite a 2 - 0 loss to Morecambe yesterday, survival in division 2 was confirmed and Exeter City will play their 4th consecutive season in the 2nd tier next season.

However, George is not happy with some of the performances put in, and has warned that there will be changes all round next season.

He said '' We dpn't have much cash but we are still going for the youth side but also players who we know are capable of taking us to the 1st division.

We know are targets but are saving them until after the last game. ''
