The Leamington Invitational Official Thread

Tamworth manager Luke Coates is yet to sign a single player since the start of the season! Luke's team look odds on favourite to get relegated this season as they look the weeker side in division 1! The only signing Luke has managed to make was the signing of Francesco Pavon on loan from Real Madrid. A number of players have already refused to sign for Tamworth a few days ago so it looks as if Luke is struggling to get a few people in, unlike the Aldershot manager who already has 29 players sign for the club after the impressive 5-2 win away to Tamworth last game. Luke said, 'i was generally happy with my teams performance up front it was just the back we were lacking a good team spirit, hopefully now the team will have bondeda bit more and i am looking forward to the next game with Pavon in my team and hopefully Naybet will be coming as of tomorrow, when i say hopefully i really mean 'hopefully' *chuckles*

Tune in next week for Tamworth Times :D

As with most teams Northwich went into this game with a new team after capturing new signatures after the first match. Defender Tony Gallimore the only survivor from matchday one and a better result than in the opener as Victoria recorded there first point. Taking the lead deep into the second period Northwichs £300k signing Reginaldo Marilia became an instant hit with supporters opening the scoring on 68. The vics failed to hold onto the lead though and conceded an equaliser on 86 through Ian Cashmore. Still a first point on the board and a few more newbies to come in Northwich are on the up and into 10th.

EXETER CITY(division two)

Georges side collected a great win down in oz as they saw off Adelaide United by two goals to one. Lee Elam and Adam Stansfield put Exeter two up by the 31st minute and Greg Owens pulled one back on 39. MOM Tomasz Kuszczak prevented Adelaide from equalizing and Exeters 100% start to the season sees them top of D2.

Sydney recorded there first win of the season with two goals from new signing Camerling in a 4-1 win over Southport. As early as the 5th minute Camerling burst through the rearguard, only for a poor first touch to let him down. With 30 gone the £2.5m signing produced another effort but it just crept wide. On 44 the frenchman showed his worth leaving Southports defence flatfooted to finish well. A quieter second half Camerlings only chance fell on 73 and he made no mistake scoring his second of the game. A perfect debut resulted in a 10/10 performance and the beginning of a great career.

Eusebio Di Francesco to Hibernians FC Paola

Of the many golden oldies Bobo has drafted in Di Francesco tops the list rated at 84. The promise of many good things at the Maltese side persuaded the Italian to sign a three year deal.

It takes a good manager to assemble eleven quality players but a better manager to assemble a quality squad of players. With the mammoth amount of transfers in the past couple of turns we pay homeage to the team with the best overall rating. So far the team of the setup is Wrexham. Rated 73 Byrne has brought in sixteen new players and also recruited three top players in O'Shea, Woodgate and Puerta on loan. Of course its not all about the players as tatics show too as Wrexham may be finding out with two draws from two games.

'We keep kicking ourselves in the foot'

Alloa's chairman speaking out after there crushing defeat to Cowdenbeath. Perhaps the reason they have lost both games is because they are kicking the wrong thing.

After Perths good start to the season Northwich surprised everyone to pick up there first win. Emiliano Alfaro making his debut for the vics took 26minutes to score his first goal to put them in the lead. Japanese striker and MOM Daiksuke Sudo also scored his first goal to extend the lead and confirm victory on 66 putting the vics in 6th spot with three games played.

Sliema Wanderers 1 - 3 Exeter City

It was Malta v England at the Ta Qali and 001's Sliema took the lead through Nicholas Micallef in the 20th minute. Looking as though they would make it to half time 1 - 0 up, Sliema were shocked when Jon Challinor smashed a powerful shot into the net.

Half time: 1 - 1

Exeter came out in the second half determined to win, and it showed when 5 minutes into it Adam Stansfield scored his second goal of the season. Knowing that Sliema could still come back, City had to score again and did just that through Jon Challinor on 78 minutes, his second of the season.

Final score: Sliema Wanderers 1 - 3 Exeter City.

Exeter stay two points clear at the top of division 2 and are now the only team to have won every game so far. However, they face tough competition from Legend Neller's New Zealand Knights who have a very strong side with the likes of Theo Walcott and Scott Carson in it, not to mention former Exeter player Sean Devine.

Bristol Rovers hold the 'Flying Scotsman' Fraser McInnes' Raith Rovers to a 0-0 draw. This is the Pirates' second 0-0 draw of the season. Pirates boss Paul Thame believes that the on-loan striker Gonzalo Higuain is trying to 'show off' with no end product

you didn't just hold us to a draw you should have hammered us but we'll gladly take the point.. :)

raith's new players are just taking time to bed in and the manager still has other targets to come in to give the team a proper balance.

LIAM BUCHANAN(Cowdenbeath)

Liam became the setups top scorer after this game where he scored two goals for D3 leaders Cowdenbeath against Grays Athletic. A quiet start for the 73rated forward his first chance was also his first goal on 28minutes to put the home side two up. On 67minutes he got on the end of a rebound to score his second of the game. In the midst of the game he also picked up an injury which leaves him sidelined for the next 12turns and was awarded the MOM for his grit and determination to finish the game.

Theo Walcott to New Zealand Knights

Fantastic capture for the Legend Neller bringing young Walcott to the North Harbour Stadium for around £6million. Sure to fire the Aussies into the first division the ex gunner has the responsibility of being the Knights highest rated player not including any loans signed.

Dispite a mixed start to life in division one after three games Queensland lie 6th in the table but boast the best squad currently. Kev has managed to lure Danny Mills and Dave Nugent as well as Diego Menghi to boost his sides average rating upto 75.

'An inch or two either side of the post and it would have been a goal.'

Pthame slightly bemused at how his Bristol Rovers side didnt score considering that either side of the post now counts as a goal.

Re: The Leamington Invitational Official Thread

Ouch!!!! Northwich were destroyed at home tonight by a rampant Morecambe as they ran riot in a four nil victory. Northwich were totally changed from the side that won two days earlier in the cup, but taking nothing away from Marks side they still had a job to do and they did it well. Certain to be player of the turn Massimo Rastelli smashed in four goals with two in each half to also pick up the MOM award. Not a bad debut and only 38years young, a great signing. The Vics drop to 8th place.

Exeter City 3 - 3 Stafford Rangers

Division 2 leaders Exeter keep first place despite dropping their first points of the season to Stafford Rangers. Jon Challinor, Yukihiro Yamase and Adam Stansfield scored for City whilst Ged Murphy, Neil Grayson and Lee Downes got the goals for Rangers. Tomasz Kuszczak was named MoM for the 2nd time this season. Manager of Exeter George W said ' We want 60 minute games ' :D

Exeter City were interested in taking Plymouth CB/CM Paul Wotton on loan but due to Adam Stansfield's chest injury a striker is now wanted for the third loan signing.

Re: The Leamington Invitational Official Thread

Via confirmation over private message, I am guest writer for this weeks results review

The results:

Division One:

Newcastle United Jets 2 - 3 Aldershot

Queensland Roar 2 - 0 Torquay United

Birkirkara 2 - 1 Tamworth

Hibernians FC Paola 5 - 2 Notts County

Gretna 2 - 0 Central Coast Mariners

Crawley Town 1 - 3 Peterborough Utd

Division Two:

Bristol Rovers 3 - 2 Southport

Wrexham 1 - 2 Raith Rovers

Sydney FC 5 - 2 Sliema Wanderers

New Zealand Knights 3 - 3 Adelaide United

Dagenham & Redbridge 4 - 1 Albion Rovers

Exeter City 3 - 3 Stafford Rangers

Division Three:

Rushden & Diamonds 3 - 1 Cowdenbeath

Grays Athletic 1 - 1 Stirling Albion

Alloa Athletic 1 - 3 Perth Glory

Arbroath 0 - 5 Burton Albion

Forest Green 1 - 1 East Fife

Northwich Victoria 0 - 4 Morecambe

Player of the turn:

Massimo Rastelli (Morecambe)

What can I say. Fours goals for the Morecambe number 10, with a man of the match performance rating of 10. Not bad for a 38 year old bought on part exchange.

Team of the turn:

KevG's Burton Albion take the honours after a humourous 5-0 hammering of Scottish outfit Arbroath. Well done!

Transfer of the turn:

Dave Nugent

A sneaky move from Kevin D brings Dave Nugent from Preston to Queensland Roar. The deal was worth a comprimising 6 million.

Quote of the week:

"Win, lose or draw, my team is full of budding artists"

Crawley Town boss RobbieM sends his class, I mean team back to basics

Re: The Leamington Invitational Official Thread

Exeter City have reached an agreement with Helsingborgs IF for Henrik Larsson. The deal will see 800k, Patrick Ada and Wayne Carlisle head to Sweden. However manager George W admits it's unlikley he will join saying ' He will probably refuse to sign but you have to try to find out. We have a back up plan with Gonzalo Aban hopefully joining on loan if Sir Bobo lets us.'

Re: The Leamington Invitational Official Thread

Posh have strengthened their side, by splashing out a whopping £14 MILLION on TWO PLAYERS!!! The two that come to London Road are left sided American Bonny Convey, and the Young Spanish defender, Gerard Pique, both for £7 million, these two were the first actual signings made by manager Antony Martignetti, after the hopeful forward Ben Sahar will not feature as a starting forward. Martignetti has made two other sigings on loan, defender Philipe Senderos and forward Ashley Young. There has also been specualtion that Martignetti is looking for a defensive midfielder on loan.
