Re: Gold Championship 116 Match Reports/Transfer Gossip thread

Yesturday at around 11:30 PM, Aston Villa Football Club owner Randy Larner announced that Martin O'Neill was taking a job higher up in the club, and that English Manager Nick Justice will take charge as the new manager of Aston Villa. Justice has already said that, James Milner, Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor will not be leaving Aston Villa for any price, and they have all been made unavalible to buy or loan. Villa are rumoured to have made a short list of transfer targets, they also claim a Deal has been struck which will see Emile Heskey head to English Champions Chelsea. The England International, was going to be out of favour at Villa Park under new boss Justice and he began his search for a new club, as will Habib Beye, Luke Young and David Sidwell along with a few other players. It's rumoured that the playing coming in for Heskey, is infact another English Striker In the shape of 20 year old Daniel Sturridge!

Inter kicked off the new Serie A campaign with an emphatic 5-1 win over Sampdoria at the San Siro. Debutants David Villa and David Silva were both on the scoresheet along with Samuel Eto'o and Cristian Chivu. Maicon and Eto'o are believed to have played their final games for the club as their sales appear iminent. Gerard Pique, Rodriguez Pedro, Alberto Gilardino & Juan Vargas are all rumoured to be joining the Nerazzurri in the coming days.

With three players making their debuts for Inter, the home fans were looking forward to seeing how their new-look side would shape up. If the first 10 minutes were anything to go by then the season looked extremely promising, as Inter were already two goals up. Samuel Eto'o broke the deadlock on 9 minutes with a neat finish before defender Cristian Chivu doubled the home side's advantage with a beauty. The Romanian strucka free kick from 30 yards and Luca Castellazzi could only watch as the ball dropped into the corner. The two goals seemed to ignite Sampdoria and they quickly went in search of a goal themselves. Giampaolo Pazzini tried his luck with an acrobatic overhead kick that just went over the bar before Inter keeper Julio Cesar denied Antonio Cassano with a fingertip save. Inter were camped inside their own half but on their first attack since the second goal, they made it 3-0. New signing David Silva striking an early contender for goal of the season with a stunning left-footed volley that arrowed into the top corner. A 3-0 lead at half time would have been more than pleasing for manager Jack Harvey but Pazzini had other ideas, pulling one back for the away side five minutes before the interval. Pazzini took on both Maicon and Lucio before slotting through the legs of Julio Cesar. Victor Revera blew the half time whistle with the score Internazionale 3-1 Sampdoria.

Inter began the second half much like the first - looking for a goal. Douglas Maicon went charging down the right and was through one on one, but the Brazilian could only hit the outside of the post. Then Dejan Stankovic went close but his effort was straight at Castellazzi in the Sampdoria goal. David Villa had had a fairly quiet start to his Inter career, knowing he had big boots to fill following the swap with Diego Milito. With just under an hour gone the Spanish striker grabbed a debut goal with his first chance of the game, starting to repay the faith Inter have shown in him. Villa pounced on a loose ball from Daniele Franceschini and he kept his cool under pressure to find the back of the net. The three points were effectively tied up and the scoree could have been much worse for Sampdoria if it wasn't for Luca Castellazzi - the Italian making a string of fine saves to keep the scoreline respectable. It was David Villa who had the final say though as he netted his second of the game with a fine solo effort. The win gives Inter confidence ahead of their SMFA Cup fixture on Monday where Harvey is expected to make wholesale changes.

9 Mins: Samuel Eto'o celebrates his opener.

10 Mins: Cristian Chivu's powerful free kick doubles Inter's lead.

30 Mins: David Silva opens his Inter account with a fine volley from 25 yards.

59 Mins: David Villa nets his first for the club since joining from Valencia.

89 Mins: Villa compounds Sampdoria's misery with a nice finish one minute from time.

Milans start of the season didn't start as expected, the first natch of the season saw gadga's men go down 3-2 to Roma which didn't go down well with the fans and after tonites 1-1 draw with Flamengo in the SMFA shield, gadga knows that he has got a tough task ahead of him..

Gadga is still on the hunt for cb/rb and admitted that there is a deal on the table which was counteroffered to him and is having a good think before he makes his mind up..

Meanwhile on the transfer note new players arrive at the San Siro, Lyons Kim Kallstrom arrives with Flamini goes the other way in a straight swap.. Enrique Vera arrives from Liga de Quito for a fee of 8 mill and Basels midfielder Benjamin agrees to join Milan for a fee of 7 mill, also to arrive is rightmidfielder Razvan Cocis for 7 mill from Timisoara

Kallstrom midfielder playmaker could be what Milan are looking for.

Huggel signed as backup

Vera also signed as backup..

Cocis 87 rated hoping to break into Milans 1st team..

Porto slipped to a 5-3 defeat to manager Kevin Kelly's boyhood heroes Celtic.

With the SMFA Cup seen as an unwelcome distraction to Kelly's men he declared himself committed to the domestic treasures the fan so desperately crave.

Milans season start of very poorly under new manager Gadga with a defeat aginst Roma on the season opener followed by a draw in the SMFA shield and a draw in the league against Genoa, when will Milan start to dominate, well with a 3-1 win against Juventus does this mean that Milan have finally found the feet, with arch rivals Inter also starting the season slowly, it does give something for Milan to think about and step up a gear, with wednesdays match against early leaders Fiorentina this gives Milan a chance to prove themselves..

As soon as the whistle went Milan was straight on the attack and on 4 mins Pato had an excellent chance but miscued his header from an amazing 6yrds out, milan still poured forward and got the goal they was after 9 mins gone and an amazing goal from striker Ronaldinho that left the keeper no chance, 10 mins later Carragher latched onto a throughball for only the flag to be raised for offside, Milan found themselves 2-0 on the 20 min mark when Gattuso nonchalantly lobs the advancing keeper, Milan are now on top of the game and with a 2goal advantage carried on pressing forward while Juventues could not find a foothold, Milan carried on piling the pressure and miland midfield was enjoying it with Nicu and Huggel showing off some skill, 65mins Juventus pulled a goal back after a poor clearance falls to Romaric whom return the ball back towards the goal with some pace, milan tried a swift counter attack to no avail, then in the 83rd min Milan got their 3rd goal and knew that they have secured their first 3 points of the season with a foraging run and strike fron Ronaldinho sending the traveling Milan fans wild..

Ronaldinho skips past a Juventues player.

Milan went down 3-2 to Fraser Mcinnes league leaders Fiorentina.. Just short of 60.000 watched as Gadga's out of form Milan go 2-0 down by 25 mins and knew that the games was beyond them, before defender heads home inside the far post, A raging team talk at half time by Gadga worked as Milan came out and got an early goal to make it 2-2 when a brilliant through-ball left Ronaldinho with just the keeper to beat.. Before Milan could get a hold of the game and go for a third goal it was Fiorentina who took the lead in the 54th min with a low 20yarder from Zanetti, Milan kept pressing forward but with no avail and secumbed to another defeat in seria A..

Re: Gold Championship 116 Match Reports/Transfer Gossip thread

didn't ever subscribe to this thread for some reason, as my river plate are one of my favorite teams :o

Recent news out of Argentina:

River go atop Group E, one of the most difficult imo, with a 2-0 victory over Villareal. 2 wins out of 2 in the group with the other coming against MUFC, 3-1.

Could really use a loan or two, need a forward over 85 preferably and an outside mid too. Thanks a lot

Milans boss Gadga is expecting a very hard season as milan once again fail to get max points and now sit low down in the table, Gadga stated there is a big growing each week between us and the top 4 and if we keep playing loke this we will strugle to finish mid table, for the third time this season we have changed our formation and none of them seem to work.. Our aim for this season was to finish in the the top 4 and qualify for the SMFA champions cup, but if we play like this then we will be fighting to stay up..

Race to sign Hamilton ace

Top clubs keeping tabs on Scotland U-21 star

According to the 22-year-old's agent, Willie McKay, West Brom and Newcastle among the sides in the running for his client's signature. "There are a few clubs who have made their interest known to Hamilton, and we're seeing what happens next," McKay told the Wigan Evening Post.

However, McKay admitted that McArthur "is obviously still a Hamilton player, and we have to wait for them to give us the green light speak to any club that makes them an acceptable offer."

McKay ruled out the prospect of his client undergoing a trial ahead of any transfer and said that McArthur, capped twice for Scotland at Under 21 level, could run down his contract which has one year remaining.

Sao Paulo FC

Took over as manager of Sao Paolo on March 11th and so far things have been fantastic. We are currently top of the league after 10 games although we're not up against any real competition. In the Champions Cup we got extremely lucky by being drawn in a very easy group against Lanús, Büyüksehir and Dynamo Kyiv. Qualification to the knockout stages is almost inevitable after winning our first 3 group matches. Some work has also been done to strengthen the squad with 6 players joining the club.

Yevhen Konoplyanka

The hugely talented Ukranian was signed as a future first teamer from Dynamo Kyiv for £6.7M. Takes his place in the youth squad for now but should see a promotion to the first team squad very soon. Already a regular for the Ukranian national team. Wasn't intending to buy a youth player but when I saw he was available I had to sign him and at the price we paid he'll be a very good investment.

Ezequiel Munoz

A great young defender with potential to improve and has been building a strong reputation in Italy. Will provide cover for first choice center backs Joao Miranda and Miguel Flano until he improves. Munoz was signed from Boca Juniors for £9M.

Marco Amelia

Signed from Genoa for £6.8M as our new number two. Decent price for an 88 rated goalkeeper and will provide decent cover for Rogerio Ceni.

Marvin Martin

We smashed our transfer record by signing this kid for £18.2M from Boca Juniors but I really like him. Has a great future and should move to a bigger club in the summer. Should be a decent investment even for the price we paid. He'll have to compete with Souza Fabricio and Enzo Perez for a place in midfield alongside star man Anderson Hernanes.

Youssef El-Arabi

I don't think I've ever seen this guy play but he's been doing the business in France this season. Another player who has been linked with a move to a bigger club in the summer. Young, talented and came at the decent price of £7.7M from SM Caen. Will start his career at Sao Paolo as our first choice right winger.

Johan Elmander

We signed the Swedish International from Club America for £7M. He's had a great season at Bolton so when I saw he was available I wasted no time in bringing him to Sao Paolo. As the best striker we have in the squad he'll lead our attack and I expect to see a decent goal tally from him come the end of the season. He had a good start by scoring on his debut against Corinthians.
