Re: Premiership 2011/2012 Discussion

Woah lads' date=' chill out. :P

Found out ain't really what I meant in a way. It was more you've been beaten twice in two games by teams who press high up the pitch. It was the same when we came down last Feb (long time ago I know). The only reason we won that day is cause you couldn't get it down & knock it about. It could just be coincidence, but a pattern could be emerging...[/quote']

Didn't mean to come across as aggressive in any way! :P

Absolutely, everybody knows that the way to beat the Swans is to push up and put pressure on them. For example, the stereotypical view of how to do well against Stoke is just being able to deal with long balls, although this is me being over simplistic. Perhaps you could deal with one long ball (or in the Swans' case, put pressure on the defence/midfield on one occasion), but can you keep it up for 90 minutes... :)

Granted, keeping it up for the 90 is the hard bit as you keep the ball so well. It just amazes me it took till the Everton game for a team to work it out! (unless teams have tried before and failed...)

When we took over the Liberty it was the one time in 6 years Dave Jones managed to tactically outwit his fellow number. :D

Many have tried and failed.

Everton took the lead through a moment of brilliance and doubled it through constant pressure as we pushed for an equaliser. They did press high, but it didn't stop us having plenty of chances in the first half. It takes a lot more then pressing high to get a result against us, and i'm confident that Newcastle won't press high.

Re: Premiership 2011/2012 Discussion

Looks as though what I said last night kind of goes out of the window! Newcastle have been really deep and have still scored 2.

Guess it goes to show, you can have all the possession in the world, if you can't shoot it's pointless having it.

Oh and something else, Britton is still incapable of a forward pass. :o

I think he's trying to keep his pass completion percentage up hahah :D

He gave the ball away three times. That I counted. All when attempting a forward pass. Give him credit, he did make two successful forward passes though. ;)

Tony Hibbert so close :( Hopefully that is just him practicing his shooting for when he scores the winner in the Semi-Final.:P

Just watching MOTD and I'm not sure why Norwich complained about your second goal. Pienaar lkay on the ball for a second but then you gave them more than enough time to re-group before attempting a pass forward. Seemed like a good game.

Re: Premiership 2011/2012 Discussion

Who would everyone like their club to sign in the summer, personally at Everton I would like us to sign a whole new right side as we in my opinion we lack any sort of serious attacking threat on the right. So a right back and right mid would be second on my list behind securing the signing of Steven Pienaar. As well as a right mid I would also like another winger who offers something different like Drenthe but I don't expect him to be around next year. Also another striker as back up to Jelavic would be good as well as some cover for Baines as the lad never gets a rest.
