Re: Gold Championship 119: Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread

The English Minnows of Shrewsbury Town are starting to turn a few heads in the lower leagues.

After finishing 2nd in Division 5 in their first season, manager Mike H cleared the squad out through the summer, ready for an assault on Division 4.

After managing to persuade the Barcelona manager to part with Keirrison for the season, Mike H took in Tomic and Petrovic on loan also to shore up the midfield. Camorese, the 18 year old Fiorentina CB filled the slot at centre half and the team started to take shape. As the ratings rises have come through in dribs and drabs, the clubs average rating has propelled up to 82. The clubs latest signing was Victor Vasquez from Barcelona B, who had been scouted by several Premier league sides, most notably Arsenal. The 23 year old winger signed for a couple of million pounds, and manager Mike H hopes that he will secure a move, and a big rise come the end of the season.

Shrewsbury have already secured promotion into division 3 for next season, and the task of winning the championship in division 4 is almost complete, mainly thanks to Kerrison's 25+ goal haul, and Dioni's 18 goal haul in the league.

The fans have been petitioning the chairman to extend the stadium, as progression continues, it can only reach a certain peak whilst gate receipts are so low. The fans are to put their petition to the board as the end of season 2 draws close.

Manager Mike H hopes that the support from other managers at more established clubs continues into season 3 as the loan deals secured will become vital if Shrewsbury town are to reach their highest ever league position.

Recent rating changes in the big leagues have made my Udinese squad a lot stronger..

Yann M'Vila - 89 arrow-ne1.png 90

Alexis Sanchez - 89 arrow-ne1.png 90

Andrea Ranocchia - 88 arrow-ne1.png 89

Kwadwo Asamoah - 88 arrow-ne1.png 89

Mauricio Isla - 88 arrow-ne1.png 89

Marvin Martin - 87 arrow-ne1.png 88

Antoine Griezmann 86 arrow-ne1.png 87

No droppers either, so squad looks very strong right now. I was however expecting a rise to 87 for Mangala which didn't happen, unfortunately and Carcela-Gonzalez only went to 86. First team looks good and I like having the all-Italian back line at the heart of the side.

Handanovic (89)

Ranocchia (89) -- Bocchetti (89) -- Criscito (89)

M'Vila (90)

Elia (89) -- Pastore (90) -- Asamoah (89) -- Gervinho (89)

Barrios (90) -- Alexis Sanchez (90)

Handanovic (89)

Howedes (88) -- Carrico (88) -- Aogo (88)

Capoue (89)

Isla (89) -- Matuidi (88) -- Moussa Sissoko (89) -- Martin (88)

Berg (89) -- Barreto (88)

Reserves: Almeida, Congre, Enzo Perez, Griezmann, Yarmolenko, K.Jones, Yildirim, Carcela-Gonzalez, Mangala.

Hartlepool win successive promotions

Rondon has big boots to fill following his arrival

Hartlepool United clinched back-to-back promotions last night as they were crowned outright winners of Division Three. Manager Rob Walshe came in with the club as relegation favourites in Division Four and now with the club preparing for life in the second tier of English football, big things are expected of The Pools and their up and coming manager. The club recently went through a major transition as Walshe sold a large portion of his first team, and numerous kep players to build a team to challenge for promotion in Division Two. He opted to sell key striker Anthony Modeste who bagged an impressive 30 goals for the club in his first, and only season. Matty Jarvis and Luca Antonelli were next to follow with the club receiving under 17 million for the pair combined. He sold midfield com-batter Mulumbu, and signed Egyptian wing-back Elmohamady and Welsh playmaker Joe Ledley to strengthen the side

Walshe replaced the highly-rated Anthony Modeste with Venezuelan hotshot Saloman Rondon joining from Spanish side Deporivo for 7 million. Modeste left for a whopping 10 million so it seems as though the club are now in the marker for a winger and full back, despite having bulky defensive options. Captian, and club legend - Emiliano Viviano - has been linked with an exit away from the club but with the player stating he is more than happy at Victoria Road it seems highly unlikely. The club have been credited with an interest in renewing English striker Danny Sturridge with a wage increase, and contract extension following several enquiries into his availability but he has been told that he is a big part of the Hartlepool future. With the club now preparing for life in The nPower Championship, it could only be a matter of time before The Pools complete their rise to the English Premier League.

Shrewsbury Town win division 4 following in Hartlepool's footsteps. Kerrison scored an impressive 29 league goals with as many assists, and most MoM's!

Hopefully looking to sign some new players for the season coming.

Udinese once again finish 5th and fail to break the top four as we missed out by a couple of points which is bloody disappointing. :(

Squad looks top notch to be fair, just can't break that top 4, came runners-up in the SMFA Shield last season, and tonight we have the Italian Cup semi-final against Bari so hopefully we can do the job and reach the final as I'll be very unhappy if we don't even get a trophy this season. :/

Udinese beat Bari 2-0 tonight away from home to reach the Italian Cup Final where we will face Milan. Mauricio Isla bagged a brace tonight to take us to the final. I really want to win it now, as I don't think I could handle a trophy-less season! :o

Wholesale changes at Shrewsbury!

With season 3 just under way and a 2-1 win for Shrewsbury at home to title favourites QPR, division 3 looks like it could prove a stern test.

Manager Mike H has been busy in the transfer market.

Thanks to the Barcelona youth system, Shrewsbury managed to sign last seasons 30 goal top scorer Kerrison (87) on loan, along with Botia in defence (87) and Petrovic (86) in the holding midfield role.

New to the club are:

Serkan Kirintili the 84 rated Fenerbache reserve keeper

KONE, Panagiotis the 23 year old Brescia winger rated at 85

PUTSILA, Anton the 23 year old Freiburg midfielder, rated at 85

YILMAZ, Aydin the 23 year old Galatasaray forward, rated 84

and OWUSU, William the 21 year old Ghanaian striker, 82 rated.

In response to worries from the fans about the size of the wage bill now being over £350k per week, the manager publicly revealed that the youth squad will be trimmed over the next few weeks.

9 players have already departed, bringng in £10m and this looks likely to double.

The fans are waiting in anticipation for what could be Shrewsbury's finest season yet, and they hope to be in Division 2 this time next season.

Re: Gold Championship 119: Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread

Udinese have reached the SMFA Shield semi-final after a 4-1 win over Chelsea last night in the quarters. We face Sochaux in the semi's. Bit of a mixed season so far really, with an inconsistent league form, but tonight we got a good 2-1 win over Fiorentina that moved us up to 7th in the league. Still aiming for a top 4 finish this season and qualification for the SMFA Cup, but the SMFA Shield is our number 1 priority at the moment.

We finished runners up in the SMFA Shield in season 1 after losing 2-1 to Valencia in the final, so really out to win it this time. Also, hoping to do a few deals if anyone is up for some, currently trying to hammer out a deal with the Hamburger SV manager. :)
