With Betis' future in La Liga secured they decided to splash some cash to improve the team.

21 year old Brazilian winger Alex Teixeira signed in a £5.5M deal. The hugely talented youngster will initially join the youth setup though he is expected to move into the first team before too long.

Yaroslav Rakitskiy

Promising young centre back Rakitskiy moved to Betis for £10M. The 21 year old has 8 caps for Ukraine and 2 goals. He can also play at left back, Betis' problem position.

20 year old German playmaker Gundogan joined for £7M. He is regarded as the next Ozil and Betis will look to nurture that talent through their excellent youth system.

Italian midfielder Candreva cost Betis £7.3M, and they will be hoping he can show the kind of form that once had him sought after by all the top clubs.

Several more players were brought into the clubs youth academy, including Ryo Miyaichi, Rafa Alcantara, Joao Pedro, Lionel Carole, Jamie Ness, Thanos Petsos and Federico Rodriguez.

Real Betis hosted the current SMFA Cup holders, and played them off the park. Betis went into this match without star players Neymar and Briand, however it had no bearing on the outcome of the match. After some lovely build up James Rodriguez was through one on one with Diego Lopez, and finished sublimely with an exquisite lob over the keeper. Betis wrapped the game up before half time with a stunning goal from Franco Jara. Jara received the ball 30 yards out, took one touch before lashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Betis frustrated their opponents throughout the second half as they passed the ball around calmly and assuredly, showing signs that they are developing into a quality side.

Real Betis have secured the signing of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, in a club record £24M deal. The 17 year old striker had been attracting interest from all the top clubs around the globe but it was Betis who splashed the cash on the youngster. Despite his tender years, Lukaku had played 54 games for Anderlecht, netting 25 times. He has also been capped 9 times for his country, scoring twice.

Betis travelled to Camp Nou, and left having had more possession and shots than their illustrious opponents, however Barcelona left with more goals and the 3 points. In a display of clinicalness Barca blitzed 5 pass Betis. Ronaldo scored an early disputed penalty after 7 minutes, however 1 minute later and debutant Lukaku gave the Betis fans a glimpse of what he is capable of with a fine low drive past Pepe Reina. Barcelona soon took control though as goals from Ibrahimovic and Tevez put Barca 3-1 up at half time.

Jimmy Briand gave Betis hope with an early goal in the second half, however it was false hope as Gerard Pique and Ibrahimovic wrapped the game up and gave the league leaders another 3 points.

With 9 games of the season remaining Betis sit in 10th position.

In a one sided match up Real Betis took 3 points off the team sitting 2nd in the table. Jimmy Briand headed the opening goal after some terrific wing play by James Rodriguez. Romelu Lukaku followed up his debut goal with another headed goal shortly after half time, and Jimmy Briand doubled his tally with a tap in courtesy of Lukaku's excellent cross.

Betis travelled to Madrid full of confidence after their excellent display against Valencia, and it showed as they took an early lead. Romelu Lukaku scored his 3rd goal in 3 games with a fabulous 25 yard thunderbolt, David De Gea was rooted to the spot and looked on helplessly as the ball whizzed past him. Betis looked in control of the game and looked the most likely to score the next goal. However Atletico hit Betis with the classic sucker punch on the counter attack. Fabian Lemoine scored the goal in the 71st minute, as Betis naively pured men forward they left huge gaps at the back which were easily exploited by Atletico and Lemoine was left with a simple tap in. The last 20 minutes was real end to end stuff however neither side managed to score the vital second goal and the game finished honours even.

Betis met Atletico for the second time in 2 days and the result ended the same as the previous match. Romelu Lukaku continued to justify his massive price tag with yet another goal. After some great link up play with Neymar Lukaku found himself one on one with the goalkeeper and lifted the ball delightfully into the back of the net. Both clubs made several changes in the second half, and it was Atletico's attacking changes that paid off as Valter Bisa grabbed a late headed equaliser. There were to be few chances before the end of the match as both teams seemed happy enough to settle for penalties. Both teams scored all 4 of their opening penalties, however Atletico missed their 5th penalty, and it was man of the moment Romelu Lukaku who stepped up to inevitably score the winning goal, and set up a quarter final tie with Villarreal.

J. Rodriguez (1)

R. Lukaku (51)

F. Jara (60)

In a must win match at the Benito Villamarín, Real Betis thrilled their supporters with a glowing display of attacking football. Betis took the lead with the fastest goal in the history of football. James Rodriguez received the ball from the kick off and hit an instant shot which looped over the embarrassed Ricardo and into the back of the net. Osasuna were stunned by this and never really got going throughout the whole match. James Rodriguez was having a great game, and it was his cross which was met by man of the moment Lukaku which put the game beyond doubt. Lukaku has now scored in all 5 matches since his record breaking move to the club, and Betis will be hoping he can keep up this form until the end of the season.

A tiring Lukaku was subbed after 60 minutes, and his replacement Franco Jara scored with his first touch of the match. Daniel Parejo set the Argentine through on goal and he cooly slotted the ball home pass Ricardo, to ensure a quite emphatic victory in a quite incredible game.

With 6 games of the season left Betis still find themselves 5 points off a SMFA Shield spot, with crucial games against Sevilla and Real Madrid to come though anything is possible.

23 year old Wesley has joined Betis in a £9M deal. He is a typical Brazilian attacking midfielder with plenty of flair and an impeccable touch. The twice capped Brazilian is expected to slot straight into Betis' first team.

With some doubts lingering over the long term future of current shot stopper Federico Marchetti, Betis have brought in several highly rated young goalkeepers. 22 year old Aussie Mitchell Langerak joined in a £1.5M deal, 22 year old German Ron-Robert Zieler joined for £280k, Spaniard Vicente Guaita was the most expensive of the lot at £2.2M. However the favourite to take over the #1 spot remains 20 year old German Oliver Baumann who joined the club last November for £520k.

Betis treated their home fans to an exciting display attacking football as they dominated a weak opponent from start to finish. Daniel Parejo grabbed only his 3rd goal of the season with an audacious overhead kick. Neymar ended his goal drought with a spectacular long range effort, and forgotten man Jimmy Briand staked a claim for a starting berth with a stunning solo goal.

Betis decided to give their big stars a much needed rest as they made 10 changes to the team that breezed past Valladolid. The decision looked to have backfired though as Almeria took an early lead through Ulloa. Almeria had much the better of the first half but only had the one goal to show for it. Betis looked fired up as they came out for the second half, and in particular James Rodriguez, who at times looked a world beater. It was Rodriguez who got Betis back into the match with a long range thunderbolt. Ilkay Gundogan, on his first start for the club, gave a glimpse of the qualities he posseses as he skipped past a defender and the goalkeeper to slide the ball into the net.

Betis lead only lasted 1 minute as some lapse defending let Pablo in to equalise. Betis had to rely on a huge strike of fortune to put them back in front, Rodriguez crossed the ball into the box, and Guilherme had a wild swing in an attempt to clear the ball, however he miscued and the ball went agonizingly past the Almeria keeper. That goal seemed to deflate Almeria, and Betis took advantage. Gershon scored on his debut with a header from a corner, and Vladimir Weiss put the game beyond doubt with a curling effort 10 minutes from time.

Betis crashed out of the cup with a bad defeat to Villarreal. Cazorla gave The Yellow Submarine an early lead with an exceptionally taken free-kick. Betis never recovered from that early set back and a second half double from Rossi put the game to rest. A late goal from Victor Ruiz gave Betis some hope, but there was to be no grandstand finish and the game finished 3-1.

R. Lukaku (2)

A. Edinho (54)

Betis bounced back from cup disappointment with a confident display against Málaga. A freshly rested Romelu Lukaku took only 2 minutes to get himself back in amongst the goals as he linked up superbly with strike partner Neymar. Lukaku returned the favour as he put Neymar through for his first of the match. A superb volley from Neymar effectively ended the game, despite a consolation for Málaga from Edinho. Betis walked away with another 3 points, and the flourishing partnership of the young striking duo of Lukaku and Neymar will have delighted the manager and fans alike.

With only 2 games of the season remaining, Betis still find themselves in 10th position, and they will need to rely on other results going their way if they are to sneak into a European spot.

Teams around the world battled it out for the signature of young starlet Gerard Deulofeu, but it was Betis who managed to land the 17 year old flying winger.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Betis finished the season in 10th position having had a respectable first season in La Liga. The highlight of the season being a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.

Manager Kari was satisfied with the teams performance this season:

We wanted to establish ourselves as a credible La Liga team and we have achieved that this season. We started off quite naively and as a result in the first half of the season we lost a lot of matches we should have won, however we stepped it up in the second half and looked a much better team. Our biggest problem was dropping points against the smaller teams, we dropped 30 points in total against the teams in the top half of the table, whereas we dropped 25 against teams in the bottom half.

We have a lot of great young talent in our team and we will have learned a lot from this season so i am hoping we can go on and break into the top 8 this coming season.

For the second successive season Jimmy Briand was voted the Real Betis player of the year. The striker netted 15 times this season and also notched up 5 assists, his average rating was 7.57.

Neymar was also voted young player of the year for the second successive season. He grabbed 15 goals and assisted on 10 occasions with an average rating of 7.62.

Despite only playing a handful of games for the club, the Betis support immediately took Romelu Lukaku to their hearts. The 17 year old managed to net 6 times and assisted twice, with an average rating of 7.75.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Real Betis have announced their squad numbers for the forthcoming season, which hints at a preferred starting lineup of:

Meanwhile in a recent Forbes list of the most valuable clubs in World football, Real Betis ranked at #9.

Top 10:

Barcelona: 465.2M

Real Madrid: 400.3M

Internazionale 377.5M

Arsenal 352M

Manchester United 343.3M

Bayern München 322.3M

Atlético Madrid 310.6M

Chelsea 286.7M

Real Betis 285.3M

Udinese 284.4M

The Spanish clubs dominate the rich list with Barcelona and Real Madrid 1 and 2, with Atlético and Betis also in the top 10. Valencia find themselves 12th in the list and Sevilla ranked 15th. The English clubs ranked the second most valuable, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all in the top 10, and Manchester City 14th. Internazionale and Udinese are the only Italians in the top 15 while Bayern München are the sole representatives of Germany in the rich list.

Brazilian wonderkid Neymar has ended speculation regarding his future by penning a new 5 year deal with Real Betis. He had just one year left on his current deal and was highly expected to move to England during the pre season, but as he signed his new deal he told the press that there was no other club he could ever see himself playing for, and that he never wants to leave. A thought echoed by the Betis hierarchy who have placed an astonishing £150M minimum fee into his contract.

Meanwhile Neymar was involved in controversy in a pre-season match, after scoring a wonder goal he found himself sent off for his celebration, which involved donning a mask of himself!

The new season starts 09/04/11 with Betis playing host to Almería.

Expectations were high for Betis in the opening match of the season, however they looked lethargic and off the pace as Almería dominated the first half. Their domination was rewarded when Ortiz gave them a deserved lead just before half time. Betis were clearly given the hairdryer treatment at half time as they started the second half with a bang. Lukaku immediately scored the equaliser with a stunning volley and should have scored shortly after to give them a lead. Betis piled on the pressure but Almería defended stubbornly and the match ended in a draw which in the end was probably the right result.

J. Briand (24)

Neymar (37, 40)

R. Lukaku (75)

Betis were determined to put the disappointment of the first match behind them and they put on an exhilarating show of free flowing attacking football to breeze past their next opponents. Betis went with a 3 pronged attack with Briand, Neymar and Lukaku all starting and it paid off big time. Neymar slid Briand through for the first goal in the 24th minute, Neymar then linked up brilliantly with Lukaku to score the second goal. And just before half time Neymar scored again as he jinked past all comers and scored a wonder goal. Betis took their foot of the pedal slightly in the second half, though Lukaku did make it 4 with a bullet header. Briand picked up a dubious red card late on and Numancia scored a consolation goal to slightly dampen the evening but all in all there were smiles all round for Betis.

Betis made only one change from the team that emphatically won the last match, with James Rodriguez in for the suspended Briand. They soon picked up how they had left off as they attacked Málaga from the off. After 12 minutes Wesley grabbed his first goal for the club, with a simple tap in from a yard out following some great work from Rodriguez. Victor Ruiz made it 2-0 with a header from a corner and Lukaku sealed the win in the second half. Worryingly though Betis failed to keep a clean sheet as Málaga grabbed a late consolation.

Rakytskiy (42)

With Betis firing on all cylinders away from home, their home form was still up for debate and they faced a tricky test against the only team to have done the double over them last season. Betis changed their tactics to frustrate their opponents and hit on the counter, and they worked brilliantly. Depor only managed one shot on Betis' goal the whole match, a long range effort from Pazzini which Marchetti comfortably saved and set Betis on the counter to score the only goal of the match. A quick break involving Herrera, Neymar and Lukaku was eventually converted by Rakytskiy who had the simplest of finishes to score his first goal for the club.

Betis currently sit joint top of La Liga with the champions Barcelona.

In the big "El derbi Sevillano" Betis kept up their impressive away form with a 2-0 win over their rivals Sevilla. French striker Jimmy Briand was the hero with a deadly double, the first a terrific strike coming after just 6 minutes, receiving the ball on the right Briand skipped inside his marker and curled in a shot from 25 yards. Both sides missed several chances before Betis were given a penalty and Briand stepped up to put the game beyond any doubt. Ronaldo went on a mazy drrible before crossing into Ibrahimovic who headed home the opener. In the 53rd minute Carlos Tevez made it 2-0 with a thunderous drive from outside the box. Real Betis suffered back to back defeats losing 3-2 to Atlético Madrid. Atlético took an early lead through Demba Ba and doubled it through Robinho just before half time. The game looked to be over but 2 almost identical goals within a minute pulled Betis level. Firstly a cross from the right was headed home by Neymar, and then a cross from the left was headed home by Lukaku. The game looked to have petered out however in the 89th minute Atlético were awarded a dubious penalty, duly dispatched by Makukulu, much to the fury of the Betis team and management.

In a match Betis completely dominated they were left feeling frustrated at being held to a draw. Lukaku gave them the perfect start with his 5th goal of the season 7 minutes in. Levante equalised late on in the first half after some very poor defending. Vladimir Weiss scored an early free kick in the second half that looked to have given Betis all 2 points, however another late goal conceded denied the home team all 3 points.

Betis defended resolutely the rest of the match and looked to have been able to hold onto all 3 points, however they seemed to tire late on and yet again conceded another late goal.

Betis have now dropped down the table to 7th, and having now gone 4 games without a win they'll be looking to get back on track ASAP.

Betis were simply brazilliant as they got back to winning ways in style. Neymar was the hero today scoring the perfect hat-trick, and his fellow countryman Wesley also grabbed a goal. Despite the narrow margin of the win the match was a walk in the park for Betis as they managed to record back to back wins. Athletic managed to pull a goal back late on, with their only shot on target in the whole game, to set up a nervy end to the game but the 3 points deservedly went to Betis.

Real Betis 1 - 0 Mallorca

Lukaku (78)

Mallorca came and parked the bus at the Benito Villamarín and their negative tactics looked to have worked as they managed to stifle Betis' attacking threat for most of the game. However man of the moment Lukaku managed to grab the crucial goal 10 minutes from time and hand Betis another victory.

Celta Vigo 1 - 2 Real Betis

Annan (17)

Rakiytskiy (22)

Real Betis raced to a 2-0 lead, firstly through Anthony Annan's first goal for the club, and soon after Rakytskiy doubled their lead. Vigo pulled one back in the second half however Betis managed to hold on for another 3 points.

With 4 straight wins in the league, and now unbeaten in 6, Real Betis find themselves sitting 3rd in the table, behind Barcelona on goal difference and 2 points off the early pace setters Real Madrid.

Betis have been looking to improve their defence lately and have added Russian Evgeni Makeev, German Sebastian Jung, Argentinian Guillermo Burdisso and Spanish trio Vilà Didac, Jordi Amat and Borja Ekiza to their ranks. Spanish defensive midfielder Ruben Perez has also completed his move to Betis.

Meanwhile Spanish hotshot Paco Alcacer and Danish defender Nicolai Boilesen are amongst a fresh batch of talented youngsters to join Betis' youth academy.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Real Betis finished the season in 8th position after a season full of early promise and false dawns. Despite this Kari is delighted with how the season unfolded:

For much of the season we competed at the very top level and proved that we can challenge the best clubs in the world. We have comfortably achieved our target of a top 8 finish and although it could have been a lot better we have ultimately come on leaps and bounds this season. Last season we finished 29 points behind the league winners and this season we have more than halved that deficit to 14 points. But for a crucial 6 games period where we picked up only 2 points we could have been right up at the top of the table. We also need to sort out our shocking home record, we only won 7 home games in the league this season, whilst away from home we managed 13, so that is something definitely needing addressed for next season.

There was no doubt about the player of the season, 18 year old Romelu Lukaku had a sensational season and deservedly picked up the award. He scored 26 league goals and assisted in a further 11, whilst his average rating was 7.91. He did the double by also collecting young player of the season.

The young striker also picked up the Pichichi award for top scorer in La Liga.

Romelu has had a great first full season with us and we hope he can continue this form as he will be a very important player for us in achieving our future targets.

Meanwhile in Forbes recent updated list of the most valuable clubs in World football, Real Betis ranked at #4.

Top 10:

1. Barcelona: 485M

2. Internazionale: 411M

3. Real Madrid: 402M

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Betis' targets for season 4 have been set by Kari, and it is fair to say she is aiming high:

I want a top 4 finish, a successful run in the SMFA Shield, and i want us to win a domestic trophy.

No pressure then.

To help achieve these goals Betis have made a big statement in the transfer market: 2 time Betis player of the season Jimmy Briand has left the club, as has his international teammate Rod Fanni, as has fellow defenders Sebastian Jung, Guillermo Burdisso, Borja Ekiza, Brazilian midfielder Wesley has also moved clubs, as well as several players from the youth academy that never quite made the step up, but nevertheless were sold on at a healthy margin. Meanwhile a raft of new faces have come into the club, including some high profile ones:

Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelan agreed a 5 year deal to join Betis. Real Betis pulled of the stunning coup by persuading the 25 year old to join the club over more illustrous suitors from across Europe. Vermaelan is said to have been impressed with the clubs ambition and expansion plans, as well as the wealth of talent already at the club. He has immediately been handed the Captain's armband and is seen as the leader the team has been severely lacking.

21 year old sensation Stevan Jovetić has also arrived at the Benito Villamarín. The young forward has just come off the back of an injury ravaged season and is looking to establish himself once again as one of the hottest talents in world football, and he see's no better place of doing that than at Real Betis.

England forward Andy Carroll has added to the wealth of attacking talent available to Kari. The 22 year old poses a real aerial threat and has a deadly shot on him, he will add a new dimension to Betis' attack.

23 year old Argentine winger Ricardo Alvarez has penned a 5 year contract with Betis. Kari is said to be a massive fan and is delighted to have secured his transfer.

Betis have also brought in some more defensive options:

Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Uruguayan Miguel Britos, Spanish left back Roberto Canella and defensive midfielder Josef Souza are just some of those to have joined.

Real Betis have also welcomed several more promising young players into their youth academy. Thorgan Hazard, Emmanuel Frimpong and Ross Barkley three of the latest in a long line of wonderkids to join. "We have to fight off competition from the top clubs in England, Italy, Germany as well as elsewhere in Spain to land these talented youngsters. Fortunately they recognise the fantastic youth setup we have at the club as well as the excellent opportunities for them at the club.

With a rapidly growing fan base as well as some world class players and exciting talent so much is expected of Real Betis this season and it remains to be seen whether they can cope with the pressure. One thing for sure is that they will excite and entertain along the way.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Betis have started the domestic season in poor form, losing 3 of their opening 6 fixtures - to Real Madrid, Valencia and Almeria whilst also getting knocked out of the Spanish shield on penalties to Real Madrid. More bad news was star striker Neymar picking up another lengthy injury - on his long awaited return from the last injury! Despite wins over Numancia and Albacete, Real Betis find themselves 12th at this early stage of the season.

Betis did however manage to progress to the next round of the SMFA Shield following an epic encounter with Benfica. In the first leg Benfica raced to a 3-0 lead with goals by Guardado and a double from Ramires. However Betis hit back with doubles from Ander Herrera, Andy Carroll and Romelu Lukaku to give them a 6-3 lead going into the second leg. Carroll and Lukaku both scored again in the return fixture, and despite goals from Ramires and Saviola Betis progressed to the next round winning 8-5 on aggregate.

As usual Betis have been busy in the transfer market bringing in several more young talented players:

20 year old Spanish sensation Sergio Canales was the most expensive signing with Betis forking out a whopping £19.8M for the starlet, though Kari insists he is worth every penny:

"Canales is a wonderful player who i have been trying to sign from the moment i took over this club and i am delighted to finally land him. I think he is a fantastic talent who will go on to great things and i believe he will fit in very well at this club. I also believe it is important for any team to have a strong representation from their respective countries and Canales becomes our 21st Spanish player in the team"

Fellow young Spaniards Álvaro Morata and Juan Bernat also made the move to the Benito Villamarín to join the youth team.

Kari also looked to further improve the defense with 23 year old Ryan Shawcross and 20 year old Stefan Savic coming in to help the cause.

Young Dutch defenders Karim Rekik and Lorenzo Burnet also joined the clubs youth academy.

Some other players to come into the clubs youth academy were Frenchman Paul Pogba, Germans Julian Draxler and Alexander Esswein, Dutch duo Rodney Sneijder and Oguzhan Özyakup, and South Americans Moura Leandro, Jhon Pirez and Joel Valencia.

Kari says she is delighted with how the team is shaping up and has been promised a further £100M to spend should the right players be available. In the meantime the focus is on achieving the clubs targets this season.

Real Betis' league form continues to be quite erratic with a win, draw and a defeat in their last 3 games:

Racing Santander 1 - 3 Real Betis: A double from Stevan Jovetic plus a goal from last seasons player of the season Romelu Lukaku give Betis a comfortable 3 points.

Villarreal 3 - 1 Real Betis: On his return from injury Neymar took only 3 minutes to get back in amongst the goals, unfortunately goals from Rossi, Cazorla and Pizarro ensured it wasn't a winning return for the Brazilian.

Real Betis 2 - 2 Barcelona : Goals from Jovetic and Shawcross were cancelled out by Xavi and Pedro in an entertaining game at the Benito Villamarín.

In the SMFA Shield an Andy Carroll double ensured another 2-0 win over Zenit to ensure safe progression to the next round.

Pieters has had a career blighted with injury, despite this he has already amassed over 150 senior career appearances and is first choice for the Dutch national team. Betis' struggles in La Liga continue with a series of disappointing results:

Espanyol 1 - 1 Real Betis: Martinez gave Espanyol an early lead before James Rodriguez levelled the game late on.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Real Betis fans were in shock as it was confirmed that both Stevan Jovetic and Thomas Vermaelen have left the club, despite both only signing for the club at start of the season. Stevan Jovetic admitted that he had failed to settle in Spain and felt he made a mistake in joining the club, whilst Vermaelen cited irreconcilable differences with the clubs management for reason of his departure.

Kari admitted her disappointment at losing two of the clubs most important players, but admitted there was nothing they could do to stop the players leaving. As part of the negotiations when the club first signed the players both were told that should they ever feel they need to leave then the club would not stand in their way and would allow them to leave. However the extremely short length of time both were at the club suggests their may well be some disharmony at the club behind closed doors which could leave to more players requesting transfers.

One such player is the highly sought after Brazilian sensation Neymar, who sources have said is dismayed at the departure of Jovetic and Vermaelen and is also disappointed with his current contract. Several of the worlds top clubs have been in contact with Betis about the possibility of a move and despite the clubs unwillingness to sell it is believed that the player himself has the same get out clause and could force a potential move to go through.

What this means for the future of Real Betis is unclear however they can ill afford to lose another one of their top players otherwise a fully blown crisis could be on the cards.

Franck Ribéry agrees to shock Betis switch:

Real Betis were said to have been in disarray following the departure of two of their most prized assets, however they have acted swiftly and promptly to dispel these rumours with the shock announcement that world class winger Franck Ribéry has signed for the club. In a short statement on the clubs website they stated "We are delighted to announce to our fans and to the world that we have agreed a deal to sign Franck Ribéry on a 4 year contract."

Many fans were initially skeptical about the statement and rumours circulating around twitter suggested that the clubs official website was hacked into and that the Ribery signing was merely a hoax. That myth was soon put to bed however when Franck Ribery was officially unveiled at a subsequent press conference, before being paraded in front of a packed out Benito Villamarín to the joy of everyone connected with the club.

The signing is a real statement of intent from the club, who's supporters were still reeling from the loss of Stevan Jovetic and Thomas Vermaelan, however those names are now a distant memory to them fans with only one name on their lips...Franck Ribéry.

Following on from the signing of Ribéry there was more good news for Real Betis as Neymar quashed rumours of him leaving the club by signing a new long term contract with the club. There had been mounting speculation linking Neymar with an imminent move to one of the worlds top clubs, however the player has confirmed that a move away from Betis was never a consideration for him; "I love this club and i see no reason to leave, i believe i can make history here. We have the best fans in the world, the best manager in the world, and one day we will be the best team in the world."

Real Betis have announced the signing of 26 year old Diego Ribas on a 4 year deal. The 33 times capped Brazilian playmaker was targeted by Kari as a key component to the sides new style of play. "Diego offers us that craft and vision to pick out a pass in the final third, something we have been lacking this season. We have always tried to be a free flowing attacking team, however at times we have lacked that cutting edge and i believe now we are better placed than ever to be the team we have always aimed to be."

Real Betis' have two crucial games coming up next, against Real Madrid in La Liga and the return leg against Bari in the SMFA Shield, and they will be hoping the recent team changes will have a positive and instant affect on the teams on field performances.
