La Liga: Real Betis 1 - 0 Albacete: Betis grab all 3 points thanks to Ander Herrera's first goal of the season.

SMFA Shield: Internacional 0 - 0 Real Betis: The first leg of the quarter final ended in a stalemate.

Real Betis have confirmed the signing of Italian striker Marco Borriello. The 29 year old will bring experience to Betis' attack, something which Kari believes has been missing this season. "We have an abundance of young quality stars with endless potential at this club, however this season we had made it our priority to bring in proven experienced players into the club. With the signings of Ribery, Diego, Inler, Reyes and now Borriello we have added some great experience and quality to the side. Our younger players now have people to look up to and learn from and that is invaluable to our predominantly youth oriented club.

La Liga: Valencia 2 - 3 Real Betis: A great win for Betis over the reigning champions courtesy of goals from James Rodriguez, Romelu Lukaku and a debut strike from Marco Borriello.

19 year old Alarcón Isco has signed a 5 year deal with Real Betis. The Spanish attacking midfielder has been a long term target for the club and Kari is delighted to have finally managed to land him. "Isco's potential is almost limitless, and i am delighted he has chosen our club to come and realise that potential."

La Liga: Real Betis 2 - 1 Hercules: Betis end the season with a win through goals from Ribery and Reyes.

Betis managed to equal last seasons league position, despite their reserves playing in the majority of games. "At the start of the season our reserves were not strong enough to compete with a lot of the teams in la Liga, however with all the first team exposure they have been given they have progressed massively and showed that they could compete with the best teams and that stands us in very good stead for the future. Next season we will be focussing on doing well in La Liga, whilst our reserves will tackle all the cup fixtures."

After Betis' defeat in the SMFA Shield final Kari made it a priority to improve the teams defense. Jérôme Boateng was the first player pinpointed and he soon made the switch to Spain signing a 5 year contract with Betis. The German international can play anywhere across the back line and is a player Kari rates very highly: "Jérôme is a wonderful defender, exactly what we have been looking for and i have no doubt he will help get our defense into shape.

24 year old Brazilian David Luiz has also signed a 5 year contract with Real Betis. "I am a big fan of Luiz and believe he is perfect for this team. I like my players to be comfortable on the ball and not afraid to get the ball down and play and Luiz is very composed with the ball and as well as being defensively strong he is also comfortable bringing the ball forward out of defense and starting attacks. I'm sure he will be a wonderful servant to our club and prove to be a great signing."

Meanwhile Betis have allowed Andy Carroll to leave the club after the English striker failed to settle at the club, whilst Sergio Canales has also left for pastures new after Kari couldn't guarantee him first team football @Betis.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

There was shock news coming out of Real Betis today as it was revealed that young starlet Romelu Lukaku has been sensationally booted out of the club following a bust up with manager Kari.

His surprise departure comes following widespread rumours of a training ground bust up with Neymar followed by a furious clash with Kari. Lukaku was told he would never play for the club again and was immediately slapped onto the transfer list before a swift departure to Italy was confirmed.

Lukaku had a scitillating start to his Betis career, scoring 31 goals in 44 games for the club and was subsequently named player of the season 2 seasons back. However his form soon faded and last season he only managed 3 goals in 17 appearances.

Betis are now in the market for a new striker and there have been strong rumours flying around some social media sites that Kari had flown to Italy to wrap up the signing of an unnamed player, an announcement of which is said to be extremely close.

26 year old Brazilian midfielder Luis Fernandinho has become the latest signing at the Benito Villamarín as he signs a 4 year contract with the club.

"We have been a little short of quality in the middle of the park so it is great to bring in a player of Fernandinho's quality. His all round game is fantastic and whether it be attacking or defending he is very competent and is a great signing for us."

22 year old Danish defender Simon Kjaer has also signed as Betis continuing to look at ways to improve the clubs leaky defense.

"Kjaer is a fantastic defender who has lost his way a little lately however there is no doubting his quality and potential. He is still learning his trade and particularly in centre back terms he is still an apprentice however despite his tender years he has vast experience for his age and has been capped 21 times for Denmark and i am sure he will prove a top signing for us."

Kari is said to be delighted with the way the team is taking shape for the new season, "Our first team is looking really strong, whilst we have good quality back up as well as a lot of quality players coming through the youth system so things are looking good for the future. We are always looking at ways to improve the team though so further signings are still definitely a possibility."

Marco Reus

22 year old German international Marco Reus has put pen to paper on a 5 year contract with the ambitious Spanish club. The attacking midfielder is highly thought of in Germany and Kari is also a massive fan of the youngsters talents: "Marco is a fantastic young player with a great future in football and i am delighted he has decided his future lies with our club. He is an exciting player to watch and i know our fans will love seeing him in action, as will the whole of La Liga."

Steven Defour

Belgian central midfielder Steven Defour has also signed a 5 year deal with Betis as Kari looks to bolster the teams midfield. "Steven gives us anther option in midfield, and despite his tender years he brings a wealth of experience with him and we believe he will play a big part in this clubs future."

Mattia Cassani

Mattia Cassani has also joined Real Betis, signing a 4 year deal with the club. The 28 year old Italian international will bring experience to Betis' defence, something Kari feels has been missing. "We have quite an inexperienced backline and we felt it was important to bring in someone who had a bit more experience to help guide some of our younger players, and Mattia we believe can be that person."

Meanwhile Betis have called another press-conference for this afternoon, where they are rumoured to be announcing another major signing..

Real Betis have annouced the surprise signing of Xabi Alonso in what is a real statement of intent from the club. Alonso, who was recently voted into the FIFA/FIFPro World XI, is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world and his signing is a major coup for the Béticos.

The Spanish midfielder has agreed a 4 year contract with the club and revealed he is excited about the prospect of helping make Betis a major force in world football. "Betis have great amibitions and have come a long way in a short space of time, i believe that this club could become La Liga and Champions league winners within the next few years."

"Xabi is a truly world class player and it is fantastic that we are able to attract players of this stature to our club. With players of this stature coming into the club things are looking very promising for the season ahead."

Alonso has become the 10th major signing to arrive in recent times, and whilst it may take sometime for them all to settle in big things are expected of Real Betis with a top 4 finish said to be the minimum expectation for this season.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Betis' target for the new season is to achieve a top 4 finish in La Liga minimum, however with their strength in depth they are also expected to compete well in all the cup competitions. Kari has confirmed that the club are not looking to strengthen at this stage of the season, however there are funds available should they feel the need to spend throughout the season.

La Liga: Real Betis 4 - 1 Almeria: Edinson Cavani took only 2 minutes to score his first goal for Betis, and needed only another minute to double his goal tally as Betis made a flying start to the season. Brazilian duo Ramires and Neymar grabbed the other goals, with the latter putting in a faultless man of the match performance.

SMFA Shield: Real Betis 4 - 1 Fluminense: Goals coming from Defour, Rakitskiy and a double from Borriello gave Betis a comfortable advantage to take to Brazil.

La Liga: Hercules 0 - 3 Real Betis: Reyes with a goal and Neymar with a deadly double in what was another fautless display from the wonderkid however late on he was stretchered off injured and ruled out for 7 weeks with a torn groin.

La Liga: Espanyol 1 - 1 Real Betis: Edinson Cavani with Betis' only goal in what was a very flat performance all round.

La Liga: Real Betis 1 - 2 Mallorca: Betis opted to play a questionable formation and despite a goal from Ribery they succumbed to a shock home defeat.

SMFA Shield: Fluminense 0 - 5 Real Betis: Betis waltzed through to the next round of the shield with a big win over Fluminense. Goals coming from Alvarez, Reyes, Azpilicueta, Borriello and Lasogga. The only bad news coming with a 3 week injury to Marco Borriello.

La Liga: Real Sociedad 3 - 5 Real Betis: Xabi Alonso opened the scoring with his first goal for Betis, and Kjaer, Reus and Kombarov all followed suit with their first goals. Diego rounded up the scoring in the 89th minute.

Kari has been reasonably satisifed with the clubs start to the season however knows it has been far from ideal, however with so many new faces at the club a settling in period was expected and they still seem to be searching for the right balance between defence and attack, however oce they have figured that out they could be a real force to be reckoned with this season.

La Liga: Real Betis 6 - 1 Sevilla: Sevilla took an early lead through Diego Perotti, despite this early blow Betis rallied and hit Sevilla for six in what was a terrific performane from the home team. Cavani, Reus, Ribery and Kjaer all got themselves on the scoresheet whist Jose Reyes grabbed a double. This win is a real statement of intent from the Verdiblancos and shows exactly what they are capable of this season, though Kari was keen to play down the significance of this extravagant victory: "Yes it was a great win for us and we played very well, however it is only one game and we need to keep this level of performance up in every game throughout the season and then we can see where it takes us."

La Liga: Salamana 0 - 5 Real Betis: Betis were expected to win big against Salamanca and they didn't disappoint. Maro Reus had a terrific game managing to grab himself a hat-trick, whilst Franck Ribery scored a fabulous goal. Édinson Cavani added to his goal and assist tally for Betis, taking him to 5 goals and 8 assists in 7 matches for the club.

After 7 games in La Liga Betis currently occupy 2nd place, 1 point behind defending champions Barcelona.

With injury prone forward Neymar picking up yet another lengthy injury, as well as Borriello and Sigthorsson on the treatment table, Betis realised they were a little short on numbers up top and so they entered the transfer market once again, this time to bring in Aleksandr Kerzhakov.

Kari is a big admirer of the 29 year old Russian striker, "Aleksandr is an all round top class striker, he possesses great pace, skill, awareness and has a real eye for goal. I believe he will fit in perfectly with our team here and prove to be a great asset to this football club."

Meanwhile Betis have reportedly rejected an offer from another club in Spain for French winger Franck Ribery. "We are in a strong financial position and do not need to sell our best players and we have no intention of doing so".

La Liga: Real Betis 4 - 0 Racing Santander: Betis continued their recent good form with another comfortable victory in La Liga. Doubles from Jose Reyes and new boy Marco Reus ensured another 3 points for the home side.

La Liga: Málaga 1 - 5 Real Betis: Another glut of goals for Betis as they swept Málaga aside in convincing fashion. Brazilians Ramires and Diego both got onto the scoresheet as did Franck Ribery. Marco Reus continued his impressive start to his Betis career with a further 2 goals, taking his tally to 9 goals in 7 appearances.

In-form Maro Reus

SMFA Shield: Sporting CP 0 - 2 Real Betis: Betis have one foot in the next round of the shield following a comfortable win in Portugal. A rare double strike from Azpilicueta was the difference.

La Liga: Real Betis 5 - 4 Real Madrid: In a highly anticipated match at the Benito Villamarín the Betis faithful were treated to a real thriller as they watched their side triumph over Real Madrid. Despite an early double from Eden Hazard Real Betis raced into a 5-2 lead with goals coming from Alonso, Ramires, Kjaer and man of the match Cavani with 2. Betis appeared to take their foot off the gas in the latter stages and Madrid battled back with Drogba and then Alex making the score 5-4. Despite a nervy last 20 minutes Betis managed to hold on for a memorable win.

Edinson Cavani

Following a run of 6 straight wins in La Liga, where Betis have scored an incredible 30 goals in that run, they now sit top of La Liga 2 points clear of Barcelona and Valencia. However with only 10 games of the season played and nothing much seperating the top sides there are sure to be many twists and turns in what could turn out to be a defining season for Real Betis.

La Liga: Deportivo 0 - 4 Real Betis: Betis continued their fine run of form with an emphatic victory over a strong Deportivo side. Franck Ribery was the star of the show with a sensational performance capped by 2 wonderful goals. Marco Reus continues his good run of form with a goal and Jose Reyes also got himself onto the scoresheet.

motm Franck Ribery

La Liga: Real Betis 1 - 4 Athletic Club: Athletic put an end to Real's winning ways with a thumping win at the Benito Villamarín. Jose Callejon scored a hat-trick for the visitors and Mangane put them 4 up before subsitute Cassani scored a late consolation goal.

La Liga: Real Betis 3 - 2 Barcelona: Following their home defeat to Bilbao many questions were being asked about whether Betis would be able to bounce back and in their next match they could face no tougher test than hosting the best team in the World Barcelona. Betis were up to the test however and played Barca off the park racing to a 3 goal lead thank to a strike from Ribas Diego and a double from Frenchman Franck Ribery, who takes his tally to 8 goals this season. Barca rallied late on and scored twice to make it a grand-stand finish, however Betis, to the relief of their nerve shredded fans managed to hold onto the 3 points and leapfrog Barca back into top spot.

Kari was delighted with the win "After our disappointment against Bilbao i told the boys we needed to make sure we didn't let our heads drop and to keep playing our game and believing in ourselves and we will bounce back and we have done that fantastically tonight." Kari also reiterated that Franck Ribery would not be sold, amidst reports tonights opponents were keen on signing the winger: "Franck is a very important member of our team and we have absolutely no intention of selling him. He has been in scinitillating form this season and has shown again tonight that he is the best winger in the World."

Meanwhile there was more good news for Betis as fans favourite Neymar is back in training and expected to be fit to play within the next week.

Look who's back

SMFA Shield: Real Betis 3 - 0 Sporting: Betis stroll into the next round of the shield with a 5-0 aggregate win over Sporting Lisbon. Dmitri Kombarov and a double from Reyes scoring the goals on the night.

In what is by far the strongest league in World Football we are going to take a look at some of Betis' main contenders for La Liga. First up is Kari's personal favourite rival, Deportivo La Coruña. Both Deportivo and Betis hired new managers at roughly the same time and Kari has been extremely impressed with Depors improvement and development during that time. They boast a team capable of competing with the very best in the World, though currently have the unfortunate tag of "The nearly men" having finished runners up in La Liga, the SMFA Cup as well as domestic cups.

First XI:

Julio Cesar

Sagna Campagnaro Miranda Coentrao

Park Mascherano Cabaye Dzsudzsak

Balotelli Adebayor

Subs: Danny, Denisov, Alex, Milevskiy, Aliyev.

Youth team: 50+ players

Deportivo have a fantastic team and a fantastic manager and it is a privilige to be competing along side them. We wish them every success in future, provided its not at our expense of course!

La Liga: Atletico Madrid 2 – 0 Real Betis: A poor defensive display cost Betis dear as strikes from Nasri and Valero were enough to give Atletico the win.

Real Betis 3 – 1 Osasuna: Despite going a goal down early on Betis bounced back with a win with a goal from Ribery and a double from Uruguayan hitman Edinson Cavani.

Cavani at the double

Sporting 2 – 2 Real Betis: In a game completely dominated by the away side Betis were again left cursing some poor defending as Sporting snatched a point off them. Brazilians Neymar and Ramires were Betis’ scorers.

Edinson Cavani was shown a red card late on for a horror challenge and has picked up a 3 match suspension. After the game Kari condemned his challenge and blamed him for Betis losing the game: ”It was a disgusting challenge and there is absolutely no place in the game for things like that. He has not only let himself down, he has let the team down, the fans and cost us an important 3 points tonight. I will be having words with him for sure.”

SMFA Shield: Seattle 3 – 2 Real Betis: Another away game and another disappointing defensive display, despite the home side only having 3 shots on goal they managed to score them all to give Betis a shock loss in their first leg tie. Goals from Brazilians Fernandindo and Diego could yet prove pivotal for the 2nd leg.

La Liga: Real Betis 2 – 1 Celta Vigo: Despite picking up the 3 points Betis were left feeling frustrated that they couldn’t turn their domination into a more dominant win, in the end only winning by a one goal margin. Xabi Alonso and Diego were the scorers.

Valencia 3 – 5 Real Betis: With their recent poor defensive displays away from home Betis decided to go all out for the win with an attacking line up, and it paid off…just. Despite conceding 3 goals thy themselves managed to hit the back of the net 5 times to pick up all 3 points in a thrilling encounter. Franck Ribery scored his 10th goal in 18 games whilst Betis’ brilliant Brazilians again impressing with both Ramires and Neymar scoring doubles.

Brilliant Brazilian Neymar

Real Betis 1 – 1 Villarreal: In a rarity Real Betis were outplayed in their own backyard and will feel a little fortunate to avoid defeat. Wonderkid Neymar was the man to thank for their point as he scored his 7th goal in 7 games this season, and picked up his 5th motm award as he again showed why he is regarded as one of the finest players in the World. Following on from the match Kari confirmed that the club had turned down a monster offer for Neymar, stating that they see him as priceless. "It is true we had received a mega offer for Neymar, however no amount of money in the World can tempt us to sell Neymar. He is an amazing player and is Real Betis through and through, he never wants to leave the club and we never want to sell him."

At the halfway point in the season Real Betis find themselves sitting in 3rd place, 3 points behind Barcelona and 1 point behind Real Madrid.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

Breaking news coming out of Real Betis today is that Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has been sensationally told he will never play for the club again. The news comes following reports of a massive bust up between the player and manager following Cavani’s red card in the match versus Sporting, where Cavani allegedly felt the full wrath of Kari’s fury. The Real Betis board had apparently been hoping some kind of resolution could be made between player and manager as Cavani had impressed in his short time at the club, scoring 9 goals in 16 games, however it is believed that in a board meeting Kari stated that Cavani’s recent actions were unacceptable and there could be no other resolution than the striker leaving the club, otherwise it could lead to more problems at the club and be a disruption to the season. The board in the end agreed and the player has been placed on the transfer list, with a move said to be all but sealed.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

On the back of Cavani leaving Real Betis’ supporters were stunned and saddened to hear the news that both Marco Reus and Jerome Boateng had also been sold. The official word from Betis is that both players were feeling homesick and were desperate for a move back to Germany, however many websites have been reporting that they were dismayed at the sale of Edinson Cavani and felt the clubs progress would stall by selling their best players.

Boateng had a shaky time at Betis with many supporters blaming him directly for several of their goals conceded, however he was seen as one of their best defenders and it comes as a massive blow to lose him. Reus had a blistering start to his Betis career scoring 10 goals in his first 9 games for the club, however his form soon dipped and he hadn’t scored in any of his last 6 appearances for the club.

This now leaves Betis short of goals up front with only injury prone Neymar in amongst the goals, recent signing Kerzhakov has failed to net in 10 league appearances, albeit 8 coming from the bench, whilst Marco Borriello has only made 2 appearances all season with no goals. Kari has however stated that bringing in a new striker to replace Cavani and Reus is now the priority and they are working very hard to ensure they bring in a player of the right quality.

It was a case of double Dutch for Betis fans as their club announced the signing of not just one but two World class players. Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie have both checked into the Benito Villamarín in a double swoop which has shocked World football. It was Dutch delight all round as Kari confirmed the signings "I am delighted to announce the acquisition of two of the finest players in the world, Robben and Van Persie. Arjen is one of the best wingers in the World and is capable of winning matches single handedly, Robin is a fantastic centre forward with a great goalscoring record and will no doubt terrify opposing defences."

The signings were met with great jubilation and adulation amongst the Betis faithful, with many praising Kari's vision and acumen in bringing these players to the club. A spokesmen for the supporters club stated "Once again Kari has delivered 2 amazing signings for the club. They are the kind of players which will continue to enhance our clubs reputation on and off the pitch and will be a joy for all of us to watch."

These signings once again go to prove the clout and pull that Real Betis now possess, with many now putting Real Betis as the third force in World football, behind their illustrious Spanish compatriots Barcelona and Real Madrid. However if Betis continue to progress at the rate they have been under Kari then it surely can only be a matter of time before they knock the Spanish giants off their lofty perch.

La Liga: Almería 2 - 5 Real Betis: Betis' new Dutch signings gave their new fans a glimpse of what can be expected from them as they gave faultelss performances, however they were both outshone by wonderkid Neymar. The Brazilian, in his 100th appearance for the club, scored two phenomenol goals, whilst also creating a goal each for Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie. Van Persie doubled his goals tally to round off the scoring as Betis walked away with a convincing victory having showcased a new exciting brand of "total football".

Neymar celebrating his 46th goal in his landmark 100th game for Real Betis.

Real Betis 1 - 0 Hércules: In a clear display of attack versus defense the only surprising thing was that the attack didn't score more than one goal. The visitors defended for their lives throughout the match however they were powerless to prevent Robin Van Persie's wonder volley from flying into the top corner of the net.

Real Betis 3 - 1 Espanyol: Robin Van Persie continued his fine start to life in Spain with another sensational goal, however he was outdone in terms of wonder goals as Robben netted a fantastic solo effort. Xabi Alonso also got himself on the scoresheet as Real Betis climbed up to the top of La Liga, one point clear of Real Madrid.

Betis' new goal machine?

Real Betis have smashed their transfer record fee with the signing of Mario Götze. The previous record had been set with the transfer of Neymar, however sources from within the club suggest that this deal eclipses that of the Brazilian wonderkid. Although the fee has been undisclosed Betis did confirm the departure of both Ramires and Fernandinho to part fund the deal with rumours suggesting the fee may have topped £50M, a remarkable fee for a player who is still only a teenager. Kari explained the reasons behind the seemingly large transfer fee at the press announcement:

Mario has been a long term target of ours, ever since the signing of Neymar we identified Mario as the perfect signing to accompany him. We made him our #1 target and despite several very good offers over the past few seasons we had always been told he was not for sale. It came to my attention recently that we may finally be able to do a deal for the boy, however the price would be very high. I immediately called a board meeting and i told our owner we simply had to do everything in our power to sign the player and they agreed and luckily for us we managed to wrap up a deal.

The 19 year old has put pen to paper on a remarkable 10 year "golden handcuffs" contract. The deal, believed to be the first of its kind, ensures that the star will not leave Betis during that time.

We are delighted to get Mario to commit to our club for so long, there was a lot of interest in him from major clubs around Europe and for him to commit to us for so long is a real statement of intent, both from the player and from us.

The player himself was full of praise for his new manager and teammates:

I have watched on in admiration at the fantastic work Kari has done at the club over the last few seasons. I have been impressed with the clubs ambition, vision and the style of football they play. I was very happy in Germany and did not want to leave Dortmund however when my agent told me that Real Betis were interested in signing me i knew it was the right move, and although at times it looked as though the deal wouldn't happen i always believed and now i am here and i cant wait to pull on the Betis jersey and start repaying the faith that Kari, and this team have in me.

Real Betis will be hoping that this signing can further confirm their status as one of the World's elite as they look to cement their place in the top 4 this season in order to compete in the most presitigious club tournament in football, the SMFA Cup, for the first time in the clubs history.

The Deutscher Fußball-Bund have confirmed that Real Betis manager Kari has been appointed head coach of die deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft. The three times Champions of the World had been dismayed at the lack of success in recent times and identified Kari as the perfect manager to take the club forward and start challenging at the highest level again. Kari will remain on as full time manager of Real Betis whilst also juggling the responsibilites of leading one of the World's top National teams, a decision which has been slammed in many corners however Kari is confident all the critics and doubters will be proved wrong.

Germany have three World Cup Qualifier games left and will need to win them all to guarantee qualification to the forthcoming World Cup Finals to be held in France. With the first of those qualifiers only days away Kari has already submitted the 22 man squad to take part in that game against Israel. The biggest surprises were the exclusion of former Betis players Marco Reus and Jerome Boateng, further evidence to support the rumours of a massive bust up with Kari shortly before they were sold to Bayern Munich.

Out in the cold, Reus & Boateng

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

WC Qualifier: Germany 2 - 0 Israel: Goals from Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller ensured a comfortable winning start for the new Germany manager. With only 2 games left it is still all to play as any 2 of Germany, Czech Republic, Romania and Israel can still qualify.

Line up:

Howedes Hummels Badstuber Lahm

Schweinsteiger Khedira

Muller ........Götze ..........Özil

La Liga: Mallorca 0 - 0 Real Betis: More question marks were raised over Kari's decision to take the Germany job after the club endured their first goalless draw of the season, only a day after Kari led Germany to victory over Israel. Asked whether they had not prepared properly for this match Kari reacted somewhat angrily "Of course we did, we prepared for this match the exact same way we prepare for every other match and the fact i was managing the German National team has absolutely nothing to do with this result. Yes it was our first goalless draw of the season but if you actually watched the match you would know it wasn't a damp squid. In total there were 57 shots on goal throughout the match with 30 on target, so for the game to finish 0-0 was a freak result, and one we are determined to put right next match."

Real Betis 8 - 1 Real Sociedad: Just days after drawing a blank against Mallorca, Betis took their frustration out on a shellshocked Sociedad as they slammed in eight against them. Aritz Aduriz got Sociedads only goal before Betis' recent signings Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben got themselves onto the scoresheet early on whilst Simon Kjaer scored his 4th Betis goal and Xabi Alonso scored a rare double. However the headline maker was once again Brazilian sensation Neymar who scored a wonderful hat-trick, before being stretchered off injured yet again, much to Kari's dismay:

To say its disappointing that Neymar has picked up another injury is as big an understatement as they come. Quite simply the referees are not giving him enough protection as he is by far the most fouled player in the league and some of the tackles on him have been nothing sort of shocking, it is a total disgrace and i can only hope that in future the player gets more protection before he gets a real career threatening injury

Neymar has been in scintillating form this season scoring 12 goals in 12 games while also contributing 7 assists and picking up 6 man of the match awards. His average rating has been 8.75, the highest in La Liga, with many expecting him to play a key role in Betis' title challenge. Now though he has been ruled out for 4 weeks and will miss a lot of key games in the title run, with many pundits feeling this may just prove to be the end of Betis' title challenge and that they will do well to hold onto a Champions League spot. Alexander Kherzhakov and Marco Borriello are the favourites to replace Neymar however neither of them have scored a single league goal in 16 games between them this season.

Real Betis have confirmed the signing of Cristian Zapata. The 25 year old Columbian is believed to have been brought in to provide competition for places, something Betis have never really had in defense before. "We are happy with our midfield and attack and now realise we need to look at strenghtening the defense and we are very happy to have been able to wrap up this signing."

Asked whether any more signings were on the horizon Kari responded "We are always looking at ways to strengthen this team, and although we are not expecting many more transfers between now and the end of the season we can never rule anything out."

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

La Liga: Sevilla 3 - 2 Real Betis: Betis suffered their first league defeat in 11 games away to their great rivals Sevilla. There were some positives to take despite the result as Robin Van Persie continued his run of goals by getting himself onto the scoresheet, as well as being voted man of the match, whilst Alexander Kherzhakov, in for the injured Neymar, finally broke his Betis scoring duct with his first goal in 13 games since joining the club.

It was disappointing to lose the game, especially to late goals after taking the lead. I am pleased for Alexander though and i hope this goal will give him the confidence to start scoring more regularly for us now

Copa Del Rey: Real Zaragoza 1 - 4 Real Betis: Betis eased into the next round of the Cup with goals from Reyes, Defour and a double from Borriello.

La Liga: Real Betis 9 - 1 Salamanca: For the second home game running Real Betis absolute smashed the goals in, this time even surpassing last weeks haul of 8 goals. Salamanca unbelievably took a early lead after 4 minutes through Juanjo. However this is the only thing Salamana had to cheer about all day as for the rest of the match Betis dazzled with a wonderful attacking display.

Arjen Robben levelled the scoring with his 4th goal since joining the club and his Dutch compatriot Van Persie inevitably also got himself on the scoresheet. Brazilian playmaker Diego scored his 5th goal of the season with a wonderful solo effort while Xabi Alonso grabbed a rare double, to take the defensive midfielders tally to an impressive 8 goals and 10 assists so far this season. However there was little doubt who the man of the match was, weighing in with an impressive 4 goals, Russian hitman Alexander Kherzakov, who, as Kari predicted, gained a massive confidence boost with his first goal for the club last match day, and it showed as he put in a faultless display of ruthless finishing.

4 goal hero Kherzakov

With this emphatic win Betis hold onto 2nd place in La Liga, 4 points adrift of Real Madrid at the summit.

Real Betis have confirmed they have signed exciting young Russian playmaker Alan Dzagoev from CSKA Moskva on a 5 year deal. As part of the deal Steven Defour has headed in the opposite direction to join CSKA.

The 21 year old has been capped 18 times for Russia and is considered the best player of this generation to come out of Russia.

Alan is a fantastic player, he has incredible vision and his passing is out of this World. He is very quick and skillful with great movement, he is also capable of scoring many goals as well as providing them. To put it simply he is everything you could ever want in a footballer and i am thrilled to have signed him.

Kari has confirmed that Dzagoev has initially been signed as a backup player however believes that he could easily force his way into the team in the short term, and in the longer term will prove to be a key player for the team. The player himself was quoted as saying this was a dream move for him:

I love Real Betis and i cant believe i have the opportunity to play for them it really is a dream come true. I would like to personally thank Kari for bringing me here and to the fans for the fantastic welcome they have given me, and i hope to pay them back with my performances on the pitch

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

La Liga: Racing Santander 2 - 3 Real Betis: In a game Betis were expected to win comfortably they struggled to get over the line with the 3 points. The narrow winning margin belied the flow of the game as Betis completely dominated from start to finish, posting a whopping 70% possession and racing to a comfortable 2 goal lead thanks to Robben and Goetze. Santanader somehow managed to pull 2 goals back from nowhere and it looked like Betis had thrown away the points, however Russian magician Alan Dzagoev, on his debut, scored the winning goal to give Betis the points and him the perfect start to life in Spain.

Dzagoev celebrates the winner

Real Betis 6 - 0 Málaga: Betis kept up their recent scintillating home form with a thumping win over Málaga, taking their tally to 23 goals in their last 3 home matches. The goals flew in from Ribery, Alonso and Goetze however it was Arjen Robben who stole the show with a fine hat-trick.

WCQ: Germany 2 - 1 Romania: Kari named only one change to the side which beat Israel, with out of form Manuel Neuer dropped for young up and coming GK Ter Stegen. Gomez and Goetze with the winning goals for the home side.

La Liga: Real Madrid 5 - 3 Real Betis: In a pivotal top of the table clash Madrid came out on top despite Betis' best efforts. Kherzhakov, Luiz and Van Persie with the Béticos goals however they were cancelled out by Villa, Drogba, Hazard, Fabregas and Garay.

Copa Del Rey: Real Betis 3 - 0 Levante: Betis breezed into the quarter finals with goals from Dzagoev and Borriello (2)

La Liga: Real Betis 1 - 3 Deportivo: Betis slumped to back to back league defeats for the first time this season as Depor pulled off a real smash and grab scoring every shot they had on goal. Arjen Robben scored for the home side however it was scant consolation for a club trying to remain in the title chase.

WCQ: Canada 1 - 2 Germany: Goals from Toni Kroos and Miroslav Klose ensured Germany qualified for the forthcoming World Cup in first position.

La Liga: Athletic Club 4 - 1 Real Betis: Another disastrous result for Betis which not only rules them out of the title chase but now puts their top 4 position under serious threat.

Following the match many Betis supporters took to the street in protest at Kari's management as it was revealed she had taken a holiday and missed the last 2 pivotal matches in La Liga. Radio phone ins were abuzz with many demanding the sack, whilst rumours circulated around twitter that should Betis fail to make the top 4 this season then Kari would definitely be sacked.

Pictures were leaked of Kari enjoying a sunshine trip with Betis' injured star striker Neymar which further infuriated many of the Verdiblancos.

Real Betis next match is an away trip to current champions Barcelona, where a fourth straight defeat could well signal the end of Betis' Champions League dreams. With the return of their manager as well as Neymar set to make his return many Betis die hards remain hopeful that with 7 games to go Kari can still guide their beloved club to a historic top 4 finish, however with games against Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Valencia all still to come most are sceptical about their chances. Their upcoming match against the champions will be pivotal, a win could give them a much needed boost but a loss surely ends all hope. A global audience of 750M are expected to tune in to watch what will no doubt be an enthralling match, whichever way it pans out.

Re: GC 119 Real Betis Road To Glory

La Liga: Barcelona 0 – 6 Real Betis: In what was by far the biggest match of their season Betis pulled off a stunning win to keep their Champions League aspirations alive. With all the recent headlines involving Kari and Neymar there was never going to be any doubt who the headline makers were going to be again – Kari for masterminding a thumping victory over the reigning champions and Neymar for smashing the goals in.

On his much anticipated return from injury the star Brazilian forward took less than a minute to get on the scoresheet with an amazing strike from outside the box which flew into the top corner. Barely 5 minutes later he doubled his tally after a scintillating run and a cool side foot finish low into the back of the net. After 15 minutes Betis were in dreamland as Xabi Alonso scored from a free-kick to make it 3-0. The game settled down for the remainder of the half however Betis, and Neymar came out flying again in the second half, as the Brazilian sensation scored his hat-trick goal with a ridiculous overhead kick from outside the box which had goal of the season written all over it. On the hour mark Neymar scored his 4th with a powerful header, though shortly after he had to be brought off after picking up a slight knock which will make him a doubt for the next match however it was all about his performance tonight as he limped off to a thunderous reception, both from the Beticos as well as the Catalans, who appreciated the pure genius they had witnessed tonight. Another Brazilian, Diego, rounded the scoring late on to make it 6-0 on a truly memorable night for Real Betis.

Real Betis 2 – 3 Atletico Madrid: After their heroics at Camp Nou Betis were soon brought back down to earth with a bump after losing the very next league match. Betis perhaps went into the match over confident and it showed as Atletico races to a 3 goal lead. They did battle back in the second half though and Robin Van Persie netted twice to set up a grand stand finish however it was not to be as they slumped to their 4th defeat in their last 5 league matches.

Copa Del Rey: Almeria 0 – 5 Real Betis: Betis stormed through to the Semi-finals after smashing five past the hapless Almeria. Amazingly the first goal didn’t come until the 57th minute however it was worth the wait as Alan Dzagoev scored a screamer from 30 yards out. Jeremy Morel made it 2-0 shortly later before Jose Reyes grabbed a double and his namesake Diego Reyes completed the rout.

La Liga: Osasuna 3 – 5 Real Betis: Every game is a must win match now for Betis and this was no different, the pressure seemed to show as Osasuna raced to a shock 3 goal lead, however just as in the previous match Betis blitzed the goals in in the last half an hour. Robben, Neymar, Kherzhakov and Diego (2) getting the all important goals.

Real Betis 3 – 1 Sporting: A comfortable nights work for Real Betis as they controlled the match and were never really troubled too much, despite conceding a careless goal. Dutchmen Van Persie and Robben were on the scoresheet with Goetze also scoring a particularly memorable goal to keep Betis right in the hunt for a Champions League spot.

With three league games remaining, against Celta Vigo, Valencia and Villarreal, if Betis can win two of those they will guarantee a Champions League spot for next season.
