Re: Gold Championship 1 News

Nice to have you there Dan.

I have a lot of players for loan with Spartak if anyone wants any. Anyone under 88 i will try to loan out - but that is 1 point over my squad average meaning you need to take some low players, then your 88 player, and then return the low rated players, otherwise it won't work.

BLUES WELCOME THREE NEW FACES

Olaf%20Lindenbergh.jpg3325921586.jpgjoueur.jpg

Fans of Birmingham were excited to hear the news of three new stars arriving at St Andrews. A real title push is on the cards as Steve brought in Lindenbergh, Fanni and Assuncao to boost the squad.

Lindenbergh finally completed his move from Ajax for £3,000,000. Seen as a extra in new manager Dan Paynes squad he bolsters the defence at Birmingham for a cut price after the first bid of £4,000,000 was stopped by the SMFA.

Highly rated midfielder Marcos Assuncao may be in the latter years of his career but Steve believes he can still make an impact in pushing Birmingham towards the top level. His move to St Andrews allowed Cameron Jerome to move the other way with Birmingham also handing £5,000,000 to Real Betis.

Sealing his deal this morning Rod Fanni from Nice joins as Steves record signing at the helm for £8,000,000. The 86rated defender is also looking to play a major part and will only improve in rating in the weeks to come.

Birmingham also accepted the offer of £8,000,000 from Palermo for Jonathan Arias who is set to move which should be completed tomorrow.

Sebastian Larsson was reportedly meeting up with Grasshoper officials to talk about his move and a decision is too be announced tomorrow.

Re: Gold Championship 1 News

FC Porto have completed the signing of Croatia’s 21-year-old NK Zagreb starlet Mario Mandzukic on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee .

mandzukic.jpg

The Dragons have been following the talented striker all summer and have now agreed a deal believed to be worth around £10.2m.

Porto manager HKPhooey told his club's website that he was confident Mandzukic would easily adjust to Mediterranean League football.

"I know that he is hungry and ambitious and will do everything he can to impress in this league," he said.

“Mandzukic’s addition gives us much needed injury cover and I am now approaching the first game of our season, confident that we have a squad of players that will do well."

Mandzukic, who has become Porto's fourth signing of the summer, had long been linked with a move away from Zagreb but chairman Drazen Medic was adamant he would not leave Kranjceviceva, on the cheap.

He joins the three other talented young players to have joined FC Porto during the off season, Gabriel HAUCHE, Walter ACEVEDO and Milhomem Gusmão GUILHERME.

San Lorenzo 0-2 Boca Juniors

A perfect start to the new season for Boca, dominating San Lorenzo and getting 3 points from the first game of the new campaign.

Boca had to wait until the 42nd minute of the game before they took the lead, Rodrigo Palacio's shot took a deflection and ended up in the back of the net.

A mistake in the San Lorenzo midfield led to Boca's second goal of the game, Piotr Trochowski capitalized on the mistake and finished confidently to double the away sides advantage.

DJ TO MOVE DECKS

_41969802_dj203x152.jpg

Dudley Campbells tough time at Birmingham City looks set to end as FC Basel have put in a bid for the out of favour striker of £4,000,000.

Without stalling on this offer the board and Campbell have agreed to accept this bid instantly to set him on his way.

Only three appearances to his name since the setup began DJ is hoping for more time on the pitch at Basel and hoping to put his nightmare spell at Birmingham behind him.

In league news Birmingham played out there second draw as a goalless draw did little to impress the fans that travelled to Portman Road.

With four new signings making there debut in Fanni, Varela, Assuncao and onloan Dagoberto it was a game that didnt live upto expectation and after two games the blues are winless, however they are also undefeated.

fanni.jpgvarela_tn.jpgAssuncao.jpg

Fanni, Varela and Assuncao all had steady debuts but were unable to provide blues with three points.

FORSELL COMPLETES BASEL SWITCH

forssell_mikael_bifc_profile_2006.jpg

Days after DJ Campbell made his move to FC Basel, Mikael Forsell has also headed the same way in a deal that netted Birmingham £5,000,000.

Forsell became the fourth player to leave St Andrews this season and pushes the blues bank balence upto £14,000,000.

The finnish striker turned out 32times for the blues and found the net 12times but couldnt hold down a regular 1st team spot.

Basel also didnt stop there interest there as they also tried to sign goalkeeper Brad Friedel, but that was rejected instantly by LS.

With all the strikers leaving Birmingham, the blues may live to regret it as after another goalless draw in the league they have only scored once.

Early days so far but Birmingham lie 15th.
