Coventry City 3 - 1 Birmingham City

Life at Birmingham didnt get off to the best start for Steve as Coventry upset the hopes of the perfect beginning at the Ricoh arena.

Birmingham had to come back from one down after Clement scored on ten minutes for Cov. Spanish forward Yordi scored the first goal under the new reign on 20minutes to make it one a piece.

That only lasted three minutes as Coventry retook the lead through Julio Ceser. There was no change in the scoreline untill 62 as Coventrys Bernd Thijs secured the win.

Five new players arrived at St Andrews in time to take part in this game. A total of nearly £9million brought in Kelvin Jong-a-Pin, Marcello Cottafava, Marco Ferrante and Samuel Allegro all as free agents.

The fifth player to arrive was Sreto Ristic from LS's former club Gretna.

LEAGUE division two

Birmingham City 5 - 1 Cardiff City

The defeat last week was quickly forgotten against Coventry as Birmingham taught Cardiff a masterclass in football running riot over them in the first half. A first half hattrick from Sreto Ristic showed why LS made sure he brought him down from Gretna and a goal from Neil Danns made it four by the break. MOM Pauleta made it five just after the break and Cardiff consolation came shortly after on 50. The scoreline probably flattered a even game statistically but LS was pleased to get a first win as blues manager.

Birmingham spent a further £14million on new players bringing in Joel Huiqui from Cruz Azul. Uzulmez Ibrahim from Besiktas and Rasmus Wurtz from AA B. In a straight swap deal Blackburn approached city for a exchange of keepers seeing Maik Taylor swap fro Brad Freidel.

LEAGUE division two

Ipswich Town 3 - 2 Birmingham City

It would seem Birmingham do not like to travel as they were beaten at Portman Road by Ipswich. Brad Freidel debuted in goal and was beaten within eight minutes as a Birmingham player. Daniel Borimov opening the scoring for Ipswich. Pauleta squared things after he found himself unmarked and in space, he doesnt miss chances like that. Ipswich retook the lead four minutes later on 37 as Claudio Belluci netted the first of his two goals to take the lead into the break.

A relitively quiet second half sprung into life in the last five minutes as Birmingham fought back to level peg through David Dunn, playing his 40th career game for blues. Instantly from the restart Ipswich darted up the other end and Belluci secured the victory with a overhead kick.

Only thirteen played but with one win from the last six the blues are in 12th place with 18points.

Ghanian striker Joetex Asamoah Frimpong becomes Birminghams latest capture signing from the free agents list for £4.1m.

Getafe 2-0 Deportivo

Deportivos bad run continue and are now five games without a win. Goals from Pachon and a goal from Pulido which was gifted to him by the Deportivo defence when they looked almost uninterested in the game let him score the easiest of chances. Deportivo manager Bryan Adamson can take some positives from the game with his team having 19 shots on goal and 11 of them on target but they couldn't find a goal. Many would say Getafe were lucky to get all 3 points when they look at the statistics, they only had 3 shots on target scoring with 2 of them. This loss leaves Deportivo 16th in the league only 3 points above the relegation places.

Re: Gold Championship 1 News

Aftera bright start to his Koln career last season expectations were high. this year Koln have failed to deliver. New tactics have been implemented and they started well with a 1-0 win. Johnsons transformation of this small cub into a german giant continued with the 18 million pound signing of Jesus Navas. This player was poached from spartak moscow. Steven Tebbut manager of spartak made no comment when approached by a jouranlist. 2 minutes later it was reported that he was crying like a baby, kicking a fence screaming i hate adam johnson !! FC koln fans have been told to expect one more big signing

Deprotivo 4-0 Villarreal

Deportivo move up to 9th position in the Spanish league after the shock hammering of Villarreal. Manuel Vieira Joao Pinto headed the ball powerfully past the keeper in the 40th minute for Deportivos first and Pintos 3rd goal of the season. Riki got the second when he headed in from a corner. Quick goals from Giuseppe Pancaro and a debut goal for Oleksandr Horshkov finished the game off Bryan Adamson got his tactics spot on and the wins like this could result in Deportivo being in the battle for SMFA shield football next season if results like this keep coming for Bryan Adamson and his players.

LEAGUE division two

Birmingham City 2 - 1 Sheffield United

Having gone down to a goal in the first sixty seconds of this game, Birmingham did well to turn things around to keep the three points at St Andrews. Armand Fuetchine shocked home fans with a fine finish as United looked to get back into division one. Birmingham had other plans and hit back before the break through debutant Uzulmez Ibrahim making his first appearance since joining from Besiktas. Striker Pauleta pounced on some slack defending on 58 to earn the blue victory.

A second win in six games takes Birmingham upto 9th and four points behind Sheffield United who they just beat.

32year old Spanish striker Yordi's rating dropped one point this week to 83.

Sporting Braga 1-2 Deportivo

Deportivo are into the second round of the SMFA shield where they will meet Eintracht Frankfurt. A quick goal from Riki in the second minute gave Deportivo the perfect start, it wasn't the best of goals but they all count. Alberto Lopo doubled Deportivo's lead with a good goal from 10 yards out. Leite Matheus gave Braga a fighting chance when he was allowed to much space and finished the chance well. Deportivo's fortunes have been turned around in the last 3 games with them winning all of them.

Mallorca 1-0 Deportivo

It was back to the Spanish league tonight after the SMFA Shield but they didn't carry their SMFA Shield form into tonights game. Both teams had the opportunity to take the lead but neither side could capitalise on their chance's. 2 stupid challenges from Horshkov resulted in him being sent off just after half time. It looked like 10 man Deportivo were going to hold on and get a point from the game until 3 minutes from time Maximiliano Lopez scored a 25 yard curling shot and kept all three points for the home side. The loss now leaves Deportivo in 11th place in the table with a tough game against Levente in a couple of days time.

Re: Gold Championship 1 News

Deportivo 3-2 Levante

2 goals from Angel Arizmendi gave Deportivo the perfect start to the game. A goal from Laurent Courtois gave Levante a fighting chance but a piece of fantastic football from Fabricio Coloccini gave Deportivo a 3-1 lead going in to the final 10 minutes. With Levante pushing forward at every opportunity a goal looked likely and it came in the form of a shot from Albert Meyong pouncing on a rebounded. Only a fantastic save from Deportivo goalkeeper Nikopolidis ,who later recieved the man of the match award, kept the three points at the Riazor. Deportivo now move up to 10th in the league and manager Bryan Adamson said after the match that he still "wanting more" from his players in their next game.

STANDARD SHOCKER AS TOM GREENFIELD RESIGNS

A story with its all telling is the case in stanard right now. After guiding Liege thurully to the SMFA Trophy, sadly to lose on penalties to fulham. Tom brought Franseco punal on a signing of 7 million as his first ever signing for standard liege. Punal came from osasuna. Tom however has made the game against Ajax Amsterdam his very last. " I feel i want to now move on away from Belgium, Its too hard for its own catagory," " I've loved it here from my time, winning matches to signing top quality players, this club's going places but will not happen with me,"

Picture below is Tom's 'favorite goalscorer at the club' Wamberto.

" This guy gives 110%, forget ronaldinho, totti, rooney, gerrard you name them," " This guy has his own name to wear,"

LEAGUE division two

Notts Forest 1 - 2 Birmingham City

Returning from a weeks break LeamSteve was ecstatic too discover his Birmingham side had collected maximum points from the two games whilst away. The first game away at forest saw the blues go two ahead by the 16th minute. New boys Rasmus Wurtz and Uzulmez Ibrahim did the damage early on thankfully as Sreto Ristic saw red for a silly challenge. Forest hit back almost instantly but a stalwart defensive display kept them at one and three points for the blues.

LEAGUE division two

Birmingham City 2 - 1 Southend United

Blues came out of the blocks early for this meeting with Southend. Pauleta found the net in the first minute reacting first to a rebounded shot. As for the rest of the first half there wasnt enough to change the scoreline. That wasnt to change till the 64th minute as the lead extended to two through David Dunn. Southend grabbed a consolation on 81 as Matt Harrold found a way past Brad Friedel.

Four wins from the last six has seen a steady rise up league two into 5th place with three points needed to get into the top three.

After Ristic's sending off, new signing Joetex Asamoah Frimpong was given his chance only to be put on the injured list for the next couple of turns.

Re: Gold Championship 1 News

It took one day but DEPORTIVO LA CORUñA have found a new manager. His name is Sam Pooley and has not managed a club in Gold Championship one before. He is looking to at least get into the SMFA shield next year or maybe even SMFA cup. Sam Pooley gave a few mins of his time to talk to us we asked him what he was going to do with the 80 million transfer budget he got he replied "I'm after Ronaldinho but i am also looking to give my squad some depth because one man can't win games for u all the time" He them walked off with his transfer adviser discussing the possible transfers. We did hear the 2 names come up as we followed them and those two names were Ryan Giggs and the promising young star formally at Arsenal now at TSV Munchen Denilson.

RANGERS 4-1 SPURS B)

Rangers did the double over the north london giants as they strolled through this demolition.4 wins out of 4 puts Rangers through with 12 points and there will be a lot of managers out there not wanting to draw them in the next round.with qualification assured Cally will be able to give his wonder kids a taste of the big stage so he can give his stars a rest in their terrific battle with Celtic at the top of the spl this season once again, but Cally reiterated his belief that Rangers are very much determined to win the champions league for the first time. Re: Gold Championship 1 News

Flamengo 4-1 Boca Juniors

A bad start for new manager Bryan Adamson as his side went down to an unmanaged Flamengo side. Boca took the lead after 10 minutes through Jesus.....Jesús Datolo that is. Flamengo dominated the rest of the game with goals from Sharbel Touma, Benjamin Nivet, Alvaro Recoba and Andrea Raggi. Manager Bryan Adamson said after the game that he wasn't too bothered about the result because he knew that they would be defeated as he put out a bad squad in order to give star players a rest because they are not match fit. Adamson's words didn't go down to well with Boca fans who want to see a great improvement in there next game.
