Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread

I have to say it feels great to have the best goalkeeper on the game not that SM or Neuer act like it though.

Liverpool lose 6-1 to Charlton.

Our record away loss, well I guess that can go on the mantelpiece beside our record home defeat we picked up this season, congrats Adriano awesome win.

Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread

Somewhat amazed we haven't been relegated already. After 5 straight losses were still only 2 points (or really 3 with GD) from safety.

Onto the next game.

Carlisle matched your losing run, so no points gained there. Though it is a fascinating end to the season.

We managed a hard fought draw today away against Stoke, good old Valdes getting motm. Not sure why though as it always looked a bore draw on score centre.

A vital point in the push to stay in the division, Bury cannot catch us after tonight so only Forest can if they get 7 points or more from the last three games.

Our lack of goals is a concern, but the clean sheet is very welcome.

Bournemouth Clinch Promotion

Delighted to seal promotion with 2 games to spare. Managed to make some great signings at the start of the season and really improve the team. Thankfully its paid off and we can kick on into Division 3.

In other news..

Osvaldo scored a hatrick making it 31 goals and 31 assists in 33 games. Ridiculous.

Good job you can rely on the likes of yoyomo to take your place :P

A bruising encounter at Craven Cottage seeing 8 yellow cards and one red. With both sets of players playing for the Boro manager it was always going to end in a draw, despite the late addition of 75-rated Chitchanok Xaysensourinthone, who tried to leave hapless Fulham manager Dom with egg on his face in his 4th from last game. Good with for SOP too. Well done fella. And oh, Anth Anth Anth... :o

Charlton Athletic score 6 to seal biggest win in Adriano era

Charlton 6 - 1 Liverpool

Pizarro: 5'

Nani: 14'

Gouffran: 33', 62'

Mavuba: 63'

Samedov: 80'

The win raises a few questions really as Dan points out, we were playing the best keeper in the world Neuer with a very good defence in front of him as well.

The answer lies in one name: Benat. We've always had a well performing defence (only three teams have conceded less this season) yet we've lacked a midfielder who can create play. The evidence of Benat's impact today is that every attacker and midfielder around him scored and he claimed three of the six assists. The evidence of his impact since signing for us is that in 14 appearances for the club he has already put himself in the league's top 25 player assists table. He has been so good that the fact we've lost our highest rated player and permanent top goalscorer Negredo has been unnoticeable as his replacement Gouffran has been able to score 4 in his absence. During this absence we've been able to get three huge wins: 6 - 1, 4 - 1, and 3 - 0. It's odd given the gulf in class we often face such as in today's game but spirits are high right now and we're desperate to hold on to a top 10 finish after fighting off relegation earlier in the season.

Unlucky Dan, you obviously didn't deserve to lose like that but that's just the way football is at times. You look to have fought off any relegation threat though.

Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread

Rochdale are ending the season well with three wins from the last four games after our awful run of form prior. Tonight the kids / reserves beat relegated Newcastle 3-1. One of the only seniors to play in Rodrigo Palacio opened the scoring for us in the 40th minute. Portugese u-21 international Rafa Silva with a second half brace aswell. Jay Rodriguez made his first noteable contributions since his arrival with two assist in his fourth game for the club

:)

Up to 13th! A top 10 finish is still on the cards, espeically if we can beat 11th place Birmingham on Wednesday :D

We have also agreed a fee to sign Dálcio Gomes (76). Hopefully should get a rise in the up coming Portugese ratings

Aldershot Town slumped to a 3 - 1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in their Division 3 fixture.

Sow was on the scoresheet for his side.

I tried my best, but our luck still did not change tonight. 5 matches without winning now! At least we managed to score... Amazingly we're still on par with Norwich on top of Division 3. Shrewsbury is immediately behind, just one point away. It will be an amazing end of the season! An extremely tight affair between these 3 teams, in order to decide who will be Division 3 champions, and also the other team who will get direct promotion.

Next we will face Plymonth at home. It's a must win match for us. It's about time. We can't afford to drop points anymore. #Let'sgoShots! #Believe.

Well Bournemouth are preparing for life next season. Need more depth so willing to listen to offers on Alex Song, Santi Cazorla, Ranieri Sandro and Christian Eriksen. Eriksen banned until end of season but willing to discuss a deal via pm.

Plymouth 2 Chesterfield 2

Despite the Spireites playing well, and looking like we might take the win after Valero scored in the last 10 mins, we threw the 3 points away as they equalised immediately afterwards. I would be very surprised if we ended up in the playoffs now with just 3 games to go and teams in good form ahead of us.

Arsenal secure Division Two status

cq5dam.thumbnail.490.338.margin_zps26tzlccf.png

With a 2-1 win against relegation threatened Wigan Athletic, Arsenal have all but assured our Division Two status with 14 points separating the Gunners from 17th placed Wigan Athletic.

Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse has been in a rich vein of form with three goals and four assists in his last five appearances however it's our defense which needs to be commended with an excellent defensive record with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Alaixys Romao, Yaroslav Rakitskiy, Tomas Huboscan, Marcel Schmelzer, Nacho Monreal, Sebastian Coricha and Jesus Gamez.

A special mention is given to young Dutch keeper Zoet who has been a stellar signing this season, beating out Fabianski for the first team spot and being a large part of our success this season.

With little to play for in terms of promotion or relegation, I will rotate some of the fringe players along with the more experienced players to see if they can make an impact next season.

...

So, here we are - just 3 games remaining and it's as tight as you like at the business end of Division 3.

...

The title race looks like a 3 way shoot out between The Canaries, The Shots & The Shrews. That's not to discount the chasing pack who are still in it mathematically.

...

Looking at the run-ins it's going to be emotional !!!

...

Norwich:

Chesterfield 9th (A)

Aldershot 2nd (H)

Reading 7th (A)

...

Aldershot:

Plymouth 16th (H)

Norwich 1st (A)

Gillingham 5th (H)

...

Shrewsbury:

Wolves 10th (A)

Rochdale 13th (H)

Barnsley 17th (A)

...

The above does seem to favour Shrewsbury for an automatic spot, not because their opponents are any less of an obstacle (far from it), but due to the fact Norwich and Aldershot face off on Saturday.

...

I believe a certain Sir Alex Ferguson once coined a phrase - it seems quite apt right now, I better stock up on the Andrex...

:)

...

Good luck to all those involved in attempting to reach Division 2 - it's been another long, hard campaign since those opening fixtures on 10th January and our fates will soon be known...

...

Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread

Intriguing end of season running for Charlton Athletic: with all three remaining teams we face above us in the table. The games against Huddersfield Town, Derby County, and Stoke City will be tough ones but if we can somehow pull off three victories (and that would be special) it is worth pointing out that they are three of the five teams separating us from the Champions League places... no further comment though as our main goal now is to secure a top half finish which will put us in the Europa League - a big success in itself for relegation favourites at the start of the season.

As we try to quickly move on and forget that 6-1 humiliation by Charlton we prepare for ourselves for the Champions League semi-final first leg against Lazio. We are missing our key man Rooney for this encounter but have put out a pretty strong side hoping to gain an advantage in the home leg.

Good luck to Huddersfield & Spurs in the other CL semi-final and also Watford and Brighton in the Europa.

Great news for Aldershot today! Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera got an amazing +2 rise to become a 90 rated player! Top stuff, i'm delighted. Huge boost for our team. And Herrera is visibly happy with it too :P

Additionally, two of our young portuguese stars got a rise:

Tobias Figueiredo got a +4 to 82!

Gonçalo Paciência got a +2 to 80!

Cool B)

Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread

Well that never quite went as planned!

Lazio rushed into a two goal lead to send shivers down the spine at Anfield but lucky for us Thomas Muller bagged himself a brace to tie up the CL first leg 2-2, we have it all to do in the second leg but at least we are still in with a chance.

Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread

We entertain Man United tonight in a game which could see them crowned champions, with the way our form has been I can't say I am looking forward to facing the Champions elect.

Also good luck to Dom in what is his 600th game in 7046, a stellar servant of the gameworld. You just have to look across the numbers of posts on the MR thread and the discussion thread to see what he has given in here, Dom your awesome even though you are a bit of a failure of a manager haha. :)
