It has been a busy day at Liverpool.

StopMullerTimeTShirt.jpg

Liverpool bought Thomas Muller back in season 7 when we traded Marcelo for him (great deal btw) he only played 22 games before being traded out in season 8 for Luiz & Willian, Liverpool have bought him back from new Man City boss Gozzy in a trade for CB Thiago Silva, a deal that suits both parties.I am very pleased to welcome Thomas back to the club as I am a big fan of his and am looking forward to the attacking trio of Rooney, Suarez & Muller.

We wish Thiago Silva all the best at his new club.

Also coming in to Liverpool is Anderson Talisca, Rodrigues & Kishna and £1 million is the price.

Ribery and Robben available for part exchange.

Manager Glory Days bids farewell to the Spireites

moyes%20goodbye_zpsnsxnfx17.jpg

Clearly emotional Glory Days thanks the fans for all their support throughout his tenure

After 288 games over 6 seasons at Chesterfield, manager Glory Days has departed.

The announcement was made prior to kick off that Glory Days would move to London giants Arsenal on a five seasons deal. The Spireites faithful will only have good things to say for the Australian manager who turned a side mired in Division Four into a competitive Division Three side with two strong pushes for Championship football.

The Australian manager has had unprecedented success with the Spireites, marshalling the troops four consecutive seasons in Division Three after gaining promotion in season 7 with a sudden day playoff against Rotherham United. Most notably achievements were to a surprise promotion push in season 8, Chesterfield’s first season back in Division Three and last season’s strong push for promotion.

However his achievements were not just on the pitch but off as well. He built the youth academy from the ground up with luminaries as Argentine defender Marcos Rojo, Denys Garmash and Alberto Paloschi, he provided financial stability to a club that was bogged in debt and he has built the strongest every Chesterfield squad with the likes of captain Claudio Bravo, Icelandic midfielder Gyfli Sigurdsson and Spanish striker Fernando Llorente.

While the Spireites lost 1-0 to Colchester United, the game will be seen as a morale victory as the Spireites fans gave the Australian manager the standing ovation he deserved and a noticeably emotionally Glory Days thanked the crowd for all their support with a simple clapping to fans of all four corners of Proact Stadium.

Arsenal FC appoint manager Glory Days

Wenger_zpsbbzpnjkl.png

Signed: manager Glory Days is delighted to have taken over the reins at Arsenal

Arsenal F.C. signed manager Glory Days. The experienced Australian left Division Three side Chesterfield after six seasons and 288 matches and will look to make an immediate impact on the London side. With a large following, the Gunners are mired in the relegation but the hiring of manager Glory Days will give the London side, something they have lacked in seasons: stability.

After the horror reign of English manager Harry Hammer, the Gunners have slowly slipped into relegation zone with little hope of escaping however the Arsenal Board finally acted and relieved Hammer of his duties.

While many consider the appointment of Glory Days was the correct choice, the Australian manager will have a big assignment at Arsenal but Glory Days isn't without credentials, leading Chesterfield to an unprecedented success, creating a side that was tough to beat and financially sound with limited resources. What was even more impressive is his ability to instil belief into a squad and consistently overachieving while maintaining their Division Three status for four consecutive seasons but the Australian manager will need to find a way to resolves issues on both sides of the pitch; fixing a leaking back line with the Division’s fourth leakiest defense and trying to find a solution in the third with the third worst scoring record behind the likes of fellow relegation dwellers Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace.

Something that is certain with Glory Days is that he will not be overawed with managing one of the largest supported clubs in England and will be eager to eager to instill his philosophy. Some have argued the Gunner’s squad is superior to the one he had at Chesterfield but the Australian manager will need to use all his skills to have everyone pulling in the same directions.

Arsenal manager Glory Days stamps authority with a flurry of transfers

Lindsay%20rose%20signs%20lyon_zpsxvlporod.jpg

Youth is the way forward: Arsenal recruited promising defender Lindsay Rose

In less than two weeks, manager Glory Days has wanted to put his stamp on the Gunner's squad. A clear focus on youth has been evident with five of his six incoming transfers being for players under the age of 24. A clear vision on building the Gunner's back from the grass roots, focusing on the youth team, allowing youngsters to come through the ranks, something Glory Days was known for at Chesterfield.

While Chesterfield would need immediate results from their youth signings, Arsenal can afford to wait with big names like Spanish defensive midfielder Xabi Alonso and Mikel Artet and German striker Stefan Kiessling, the signings will look to the future without the pressure of immediacy. With a lack of attacking flair, the Gunners recruited promising youngsters Rachid Ghezzal, Amin Younes and Modou Barrow.

Younes, 19 has been touted as the next big thing considered a diamond in the rough however his talent is undoubted with excellent dribbling skill and a more refined passing game. Under manager Glory Days he could potentially be refined into an impressive youngster through the ranks. The recruitment of Ghezzal and Barrow demonstrate Arsenal’s determination to polish young players.

The Gunners further bolstered their youth team with the recruitment of French defender Lindsay Rose and French front man Benjamin Jeannot. Rose, 23 emerged as a breakout star at Valenciennes as a central defender, Arsenal were quick to lure the French defender from Lyon’s grasp while Jeannot, 23 has impressed during his time at Lorient, playing as a fox in the box and will add depth to the forward line since the departure of Spanish striker David Villa.

Complementing the rebuilding of the youth team, Glory Days added experience with the signing of Alaixys Romao. The 31 year old will add leadership, direction and versatility. The Togolese international has six seasons of experience in Division Two with 166 appearances with Notts County and Exeter City.

His capability of playing central midfield, defensive midfielder and central defence will enhance his importance to the club but Romao exemplifies what it means to be a Glory Days’ player: committed, versatile and professional.

A clear commitment to relying on youth to step up when required and growing from within, Glory Days has been given a wide ambit to his instil his philosophy and he is determined to do it from the ground up.

Highly coveted Marcos Rojo and Ryo Miyaichi join Glory Days’ revolution

Rojo-rooney-521467_zpsiqypp9rs.jpg

Argentine defender Marcos Rojo has emerged as a top class defender under Glory Days

Arsenal pulled off a transfer coup signing promising young players Marcos Rojo and Ryo Miyachi. Manager Glory Days has taken little time to impose his philosophy on the Gunners with a flurry of transfers within the first two weeks of his tenure. While the Miyachi transfer is in a similar vein to recruiting for the youth team, the move for Rojo is expected to have an immediate impact on the first team squad.

Manager Glory Days reunites with the talented Argentine defender who he nurtured during his time at Chesterfield. Under the tutelage of Glory Days, Rojo established himself as the undisputed first choice at central defence alongside Spanish defender Mikel San Jose, playing a crucial part in Division Three’s best defence last season.

The Argentine defender bids farewell to Chesterfield where he became a fan favourite, spending nine seasons with 211 appearances becoming one of the most coveted young defenders in Chesterfield history. His importance was exemplified when he won the fan’s favourite for his improved defensive play and marked maturity, Rojo will need to make a step up in order to earn a regular first team spot but he has a believer in the manager.

With the addition of Rojo, the Gunners have a player who has experience playing in multiple systems implemented by manager Glory Days and remarkably versatile being able to play centre half and left fullback, the defensive unit has been enhanced with a player determined to play at the highest level.

In exchange, Arsenal bid farewell to Spanish midfielder Borja Valero who was tasked with the creative outlet for the Gunners however a lack of production in the last two season with 3 goals and 3 assists in 24 appearances spelled the end for the 31 year old at the London side. With the departure of Valero, many expect the likes of Yoann Gourcuff and Extebarria Benat to fill the void however there are reports emanating that Benat is due to complete a 7.2 million pound move to Premier League side, Charlton Athletic.

Questions remain over what Glory Days intentions are for the Arsenal squad but the Rojo transfer is a step in the right direction.

NORTHAMPTON AIM TO KEEP THE RUN GOING

Div 2 title hopefuls Northampton Town have hit some good form recently - but still trail leaders Sheffield United by 6 points as we enter the "business end" of the season.

I have to pay credit to the Blades' manager Dave Crawford. His squad is by no means the strongest in the division - but he has an awesome record of getting the best out of them, including a 4-0 thumping of us at their place in the first half of the season.

With Arsenal and Man City now under new leadership I would expect both to start climbing the table pretty quickly - but the top 10 has a familiar look to it, with perennial challengers Tranmere, Preston and Leeds up there.

Walsall look like the dangerous team for me. They also hammered us this season at our place and have plenty of talent in the ranks.

We are in the box seat for an automatic spot, though. We face Wigan next - their first match under a new manager, so not an ideal fixture, but one we should win.

If Swindon stumble at the same time (and they have also been very impressive this season), then we'd open up a decisive gap over them with just under half of the season remaining. Promotion to the top flight in this GW (which would be our second move up in 4 seasons) would be a dream come true, and we have such a good and improving squad that we should hold our own if we get there.

Being £40m in debt means I'm definitely stuck with the squad I have for the rest of my time in EC7046 - but it could be worse.

MacGoreth wants 'exciting' football from Watford in first home game

The new manager begins his quest out of the relegation zone, against second place Derby Count at Vicarage Road, today March 25

MacGoreth says he wants to see his new Watford side play exciting, fast, dynamic football as he prepares for his first game in charge against Derby County on Wednesday, at home.

The former Seattle Sounders boss was not always known for attacking football while in the MLS, when his careful approach at times frustrated supporters at CenturyLink Field.

"What I am really looking for to witness is a side which is exciting, quick, dynamic -- a team team moves the ball about fast and confidently," MacGoreth said. "I also want commitment and determination; I want the players to show how much they want to play for this club. And I hope to see all of those things at Vicarage Road today, that's the plan.

Watford are 4 games without a victory, and MacGoreth would be please to begin his adventure with a victory, which seems rather impossible.

Captain America to the rescue!

The american boss is happy after his first match as Watford manager ends in draw, against league second-place Derby County

MacGoreth said he was content with getting a point from his first game as Watford boss in a 1-1 premiership draw at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night, dominating league second best side.

Watford took lead at 31 minutes, with Boakye scoring in what was his first league appearance this season. The teenager seems to be preferred over senior Mitrogglou, under the new boss.

The Hornets new boss was unlucky to see his side conceding from a set-piece, into 70 minutes of the game.

PRESTON 2 NORTHAMPTON 3

Nice to be at the right end of a 5-goal thriller for a change.

This win propels us back into second place, leapfrogging the Swindon bumpkins who slumped to abject defeat.

Leaders Sheff United also lost so this was an important win for us that was achieved two minutes from the end of a ding dong battle in which the lead changed twice.

Victory had the added bonus of putting some distance between us and Preston, who sit 6th.

A really tough run of matches will now see us take on Arsenal and Walsall, the latter being a serious threat to our hopes of automatic promotion.

We need to get something out of both matches.
