LATIMER RETURNS !!

safe_image.php?d=AQDoCgnGv4pMR4_r&w=50&h=50&url=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fen%2Fe%2Feb%2FJustin_Fashanu_www.7sur7.be.jpg&crop&fallback=hub_person&prefix=qJustin Fashanu Writes.. It was party time down in Brighton tonight as over 10000 brightly dressed members of the towns large Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual community took to the streets for the East Sussex Christmas Bumfest parade. The annual parade, the second largest in Europe of its kind, brings the towns high street and promenade to a standstill as it combines the Christmas message with that of sexual freedom and equality with a series of garish floats, camp street entertainers and other entertainment in a fun filled Yuletide festival. The Bumfest has become a mecca for famous homocelbrities and tonight was no exception with a smiling Sir Cliff Richard his partner Philip Schofield and Eastenders star Micheal Cashman spotted mingling in the crowd.

W020070102496039092939.jpg

Latimer takes to the water.

But the real surprise of the night came as Brighton and hove Albion boss Hugh Latimer made his first public appearance after taking over at the Amex stadium. Footballing puritan Latimer, head of the Godly against Soccer Hersey (G.A.S.H) movement dramatic return to the footballing world comes barely a month after his acrimonious split from the helm at Shorpe United. Latimer grew spontaneous applause and loud cheers from the massed ranks of Leathermen and village people lookalikes as he took to the head of the parade aboard a gaily decorated float depicting the nativity scene complete with 3 wise women, a same sex couple taking the part of Mary and Joesph and an asexual baby Jesus.

After the parade a spokesman for Latimer issued a photograph of the coaching clerics symbolic immersion in the English channel earlier that day before reading a brief press statement thanking the town for their welcome before going onto say…

Hugh is delighted to have answered the Lords calling to the South coast, where he intends to preach the soccer gospels to a wider more inclusive flock. Clearly the Satanists are once more attempting to spread their foul canker throughout the Lords game and despite the season being almost over, Hugh looks forward to fighting the holy fight against the horned one and his insidious foul hordes….Amen.

TRANMERE CHAMPIONS !

Tranmere Rovers tonight were confirmed Champions of the Npower League 2.

The superwhites confirmed it in style tonight as they won 2-3 away at 2nd placed AFC Bournemouth, it was looking like Tranmere might of had to wait another game for promotion to be confirmed as Bournemouth were 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go, luckily super lad Alex Oxlade Chamberlain put us on level terms and then 5 minutes later he whipped a great ball into the box and Tranmeres top goalscorer Jeronimo Cacau got us the winner which has put us 10 points ahead at the top of the league with 2 games to play !

276977_1.jpg

It dosent get much better: Alex Oxlade Chamberlain delighted to have scored the equalizer and set up the goal which has helped his loan club gain promotion to Division 3!

The manager after the game:

I am over the moon, its been a great first season in charge of this football club, brilliant, the squad has come together aswell, 10 points ahead at the top with two games left is great for us!

In Division 3 the target isnt going to be avoid relegation or some rubish along those lines, we are going to be in it to win it, the aim is promotion, theres not going be a lot difference between the squads in the third and fourth division so we are all confident we can go and get promoted in the third division then go play in Division 2, one step at a time though. :)

Thompson ready for play off battle

2892279880.jpg

Barnsley manager Steve Thompson says his Barnsley team are ready for the end of season play off lottery

After a return to winning ways the the weekend Barsnley confirmed their place in the end of season play offs with a game to spare. Asamoah Gyan netted with 3 minutes to go to give the Tykes their first win in 5 games a run which saw the Yorkshire side slip from automatic promotion all the way to 5th place. Barnsley now sit 3rd in the table but with Tranmere confirmed as Champions and Bournemouth safe in 2nd Thompson knows his side potentially have two extra games to ensure they are playing division 3 football next season. On reaching the play offs Thompson said .....

" Firstly i must congratulate my old club Tranmere on becoming champions. The club is in good hands and i have no doubt that they can push on and challenge at the top end of division 3. I must also congratulate Bournemouth on their promotion they had a sticky patch but like all good teams they battled on and they deserve the success.

This all means that we must no focus on the play offs which i must say is disappointing at one stage we really looked like we could challenge for the title but a bad 5 games has cost us that chance. We must now rid of ourselves of that set back and look ahead to the play offs which we are more than capable of winning. We have a final league game against Gillingham on Wednesday were i will rest the main squad and give our fringe players some game time then it's a quick turnaround for the play offs but whoever we play we know it's a tough fixture"

In other news Thompson confirmed that interest was mounting in highly rated French youngster Adrien Rabiot. The 17 year old midfielder has made one cup appearance for the Tykes since signing for £1.8 million but with pundits in the game lauding Rabiot as the next big French export other clubs have started to take note and it could be a struggle for Barnsley to hold onto their rising star.

Harman leads Bournemouth to Double Success

AFC Bournemouth manager Josh Harman finally watched his side clinch promotion on Saturday evening following their worst run of the season which led to giving away the title to Tranmere. However Harman stated that playing Division 3 football next season is the most important thing and has predicted exciting times ahead for his players.

Harman had this to say,

"The lads have been outstanding this season, we were top of the league for the majority of the season and at the same time progressing nicely in the cup, when the Cup Final came around, we sat 9 points clear at the top of Division 4 so the whole squad had been fantastic. To eventually finish the season with the English Cup and promotion in the bag is just an exceptional achievement for such a small club and im now very much looking forward to life in Division 3."

We'll Be Stronger For It

Walsall manager Tony Harman last night backed his side to come back bigger and better following the club's poor end to the season which saw them drop out of the play offs and finish the season in 7th. Walsall ended the campaign with 3 straight losses and lost out on what a few weeks before had looked like an assured spot in the play offs.

72-1.jpg

How do you think the squad will react to the disappointment of not making the play offs?

They'll be as disappointed as anyone right now, a few weeks ago we were flying. We won 6 on the bounce which is a club record but unfortunately for us we had a few tough games at the end of the season and we couldn't keep it up. We've got a few experienced lads in the dressing room and it will be down to them as well as me and the coaching staff to lift the spirits and have the guy's come back bigger and better next season.

Do you think the current squad is strong enough to compete for promotion next season?

Absolutely, if you look at the resources of all the club's I think we currently sit 2nd which just show's how much work has been done since I came in. Coming to the end of my 3rd season in charge and we just managed to stay up in my 1st season, finished mid-table last season and just missed out on the play offs this season so there's genuine progression being showed and we feel like next year will be our year.

Do you plan in making reinforcements for next season?

We'll have a sit down with the powers that be and take a look at it and if we feel we can add to the quality of the squad then we'll do it but we've already got some great players here who will only get better so I think it's more of a case of keeping hold of what we've got and watching the team grow.

Thompson relishing Wembley date with Latics

wembleystadium10109.jpg

The impressive Wembley stadium will play host to Barnsley v Oldham Athletic division 4 play off final

After a thrilling 3-2 win against Burton Albion at Oakwell last night Barnsley fans are now descending on the capital as they look to secure division 3 football next season by beating Oldham Athletic in the division 4 play off final. The Tykes are looking to make a swift return to division 3 having been relegated last season and with manager Steve Thompson now adding some stability to the hot seat after a number of managers walked away the future certainly looks a lot healthier for the Yorkshire outfit.

The Tykes are regarded a slight favorites with many bookmakers but with just 1 point separating the two sides at the end of the season it could be a case of which team holds their nerve the best.

Steve Thompson celebrating his sides play off semi win over Burton Albion

Ahead of the fixture Barnsley boss Steve Thompson took time out to speak to the media ....

" Everybody connected with the club is very much looking forward to this game. Our performance against Burton was first class they came into the play offs in superb form but we showed why we finished 3rd in the league and it was a great moment when the whistle went. What we must do now id refocus and prepare for Oldham who are sure to fancy their chances, like us they were relegated into division 4 last season and will want to go straight back up and give their fans plenty to cheer about.

It's looking like everybody will be fit and available for selection which is massive for us. I know we have the abilty to beat anybody it now comes down to which team has the hunger and desire to see it through. play off finals need players who can cope with the big stage and i have confidence in my boys in doing just that"

Saddlers Land Adebayor

Spurs-v-Aston-Villa-Emman-007.jpg

Walsall this afternoon completed the shock signing of Emmanuel Adebayor from Carlisle United. The Togo International was rumored to put pen to paper on a 3 year deal thought to be worth approximately 50k a week making him the highest paid player in the club's history. Adebayor, 28, comes with a prolific goal scoring record boasting an incredible 133 goals in 164 games whilst also contributing 90 assists proving he's not just a goal scorer. Adebayor paid special thanks to Carlisle manager Anthony Maddison and the club's fans stating, 'I really enjoyed my time there and will always look back with fond memories but this is a new chapter in my life and I look forward to an exciting new challenge. Walsall is a club with ambition and a manager who wants to drive the club forward and I'm very much looking forward to being a part of that'. Adebayor finished last campaign as the top marksman in 7046 with 27 league goals closely followed by Dembele who scored an impressive 26 from attacking midfield so the thought of the duo linking up in a Saddler's shirt has many fans and pundit's purring. Shirt sales are said to have gone through the roof at Walsall with fans flocking in to welcome the new man to Banks's Stadium.

Thompson reflects on play off success

22487110.jpg

Barnsley manager Steve Thompson lifts the division 4 play off trophy

It's been four days since his side cliched promotion back to division 3 via a 2-1 play off final victory over Oldham but Barnsley manager Steve Thompson admits it still hasn't really sunk in that his side will be plying their trade in the league above next season. Thompson has only ever managed at division 4 level so it will be a step into the unknown for the 28 year old Lancashire born gaffer but that hasn't fazed Thompson who says he aims to make his side competitive and perhaps make it two successive promotions. He said ....

"It's been a whirlwind few days since the play off final had a civic reception on Boxing day which was a fantastic occasion. Our fans deserved a day like that after the heartache of relegation the season before and the team enjoyed as well. It still hasn't sunk in properly yet if i am being honest the match itself was fantastic and was a superb advert for lower league football.

We must now focus our attention towards division 3 and set ourselves targets which are achievable. I think we have a squad capable of fighting for the top half of the table and if i can get some extra bodies in before the season starts who knows were we could go"

Barnsley manager Steve Thompson is looking forward to facing Birmingham at the weekend to open a new season

As people get ready to bring in the new year in style Barnsley manager Steve Thompson has been locked away in his office preparing for his sides opening league fixture at home to fellow division 3 newcomers Birmingham City. The Blues suffered relegation from division 2 but are being tipped by many pundits to make an immediate return Whilst Thompson's men are being backed for a steady season with potential for a top half finish.

So far the Tykes have remained quiet in the transfer market but Thompson is hoping to do some business with a striker and a defender top of the wishlist whilst it remains to be seen who will depart Oakwell for pastures new.

On the release of the new fixtures Thompson said ....

"It's a fantastic fixture for us to start the season with They are amongst the favorites for the title so it's gives us a chance to see test ourselves early. It should be a good crowed at Oakwell and hopefully we can kick off with a good performance and a decent result"

On the transfer front Thompson had this to say .....

"We are certainly in the market for players but it's very competitive. Squad wise i don't think we are looking too bad but i would like to add another striker and defender to the side be it a loan or a permanent deal. There could also be one or two moving out of the club a few of the lads have received interest and at this moment in time we are still mulling over offers"

Moussa KONATE, Enzo REALE, Yuri MAMUTE, Santos FRED including a few other top youngsters can leave the notorious Northampton Youth Academy for cash bids, the decision to let the players leave comes after the Northampton chairman yet again decides not to increase the The Sixfields Stadium capacity, ''Hes not really interested in spending any money out his pocket, weve developed rapidly over the past couple of seasons as a club, yet the chairman has always been reluctant to support me, the wag bill is too high, yes we have a lot of players, but with the income we get on home games, we cant compete with the rest of the division, so unfortunately some players will have to go elsewhere to develop'' - Sir Abdul

Antonio Cassano set for Meadow Lane

Norwich striker Antonio Cassano is rumoured to be on his way to Notts County after long negotiations following the public announcement of his availability. Cassano, who brings along a wealth of experience in division 2, will look to help Notts County settle into life in the second tier. The signing, seemingly a coup for the magpies will be hoping to make an immediate impact against his former team Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first game of the season. Wanderers showed their interest in the fiery forward but Cassano looks to have chosen life in Nottingham.

A club statement read:

We are delighted that we have been able to persuade Cassano to opt for a move to Nottingham. Hussein, the Norwich manager and the board of County reached a deal which would see Lens and Redmond depart from the club. We would like to take the time to thank both Jeremain and Nathan for their contribution to the club and wish them the very best for the future.

Utaka the attacker pens Tykes deal

johnutakaportsmouthvs00.jpg

Nigerian international John Utaka has signed for division 3 newcomers Barnsley

Barnsley manager Steve Thompson has today completed his first transfer of the new season with the news that 30 year old Nigerian striker John Utaka had signed a 4 season contact with the club. Utaka makes the move from French club Montpellier but is no stranger to English shores having spent time on the South Coast with Portsmouth way back in season 1 before spending a couple of seasons in the Midlands with Walsall.

Utaka;s versatility could prove valuable to Steve Thompson's men with the Nigerian being able to operate as a striker as well as playing anywhere across the midfield but it is likely that Utaka will be deployed in the main as a striker.

A delighted Steve Thompson had this to say after the deal was announced...

"It's fantastic to be able to welcome John to Oakwell he is a player i have known about for a long time and when i found out he was available i jumped at the chance to bring him here. It's been no secret that i have been in the market for a striker and John fits the bill perfectly. He is a good age at 30 but has electrifying pace and if played in the right way i can see him getting a fair few goals"

Utaka was pleased to be back on English soil he said ....

"I am very pleased to put pen to paper on a contract with a great club like Barnsley. I have unfinished business in England and i am very much looking forward to helping the club realize it's dreams. There is a real buzz around the place following promotion last season and with the gaffers plans for the future i can only see the club pushing on and i want to be part of that"

WOLVES TV

Transfers Corner

Arsenal Badboy Joins Wanderers

After the signing of Yarmolenko, Arsenal reject, Nicklas Bendtner joins Wolverhampton Wanderers on a two year deal worth 30,900 pounds per week which will be further extended in accordance to his performaces. Lopes Eder and Giannis Fetfatzidis go the other way.

Manager-

He is a talented striker who will strengthen our attack. He is a bit more confident in his talent than he should be but at this club he can perform well and prove his critics wrong. He has been impressive at national level and seems to score enough goals at every club except Arsenal.

gun__1266394777_bendtner_portopress.jpg

Bendtner:

Wolverhampton Wanderers are a good club. They are much better than Arsenal, who were foolish enough to let 'The Best Striker in The World' be on the bench. Wolves have good ambition, the only thing they do not have is Champions League Football which i think they will have in near future.

German Youngster Joins Next

It is being reported that German under-21 international goalkeeper, Kevin Trapp, has just completed a 10 million pound move to Wolves and has signed a 3 year deal which will earn him 21,600 pounds each week. The manager was very impressed by youngster and sees him as a future successor to club's current first choice and vice-captain, Andriy Pyatov. He is most likely to be loaned out for the season.

ALONSO BACK AT ANFIELD

Liverpool manager SMH has today completed his first transfer of the season and is pleased to welcome Xabi Alonso to the club, signed on a 2 year deal from Aston Villa in an exchange deal which saw Gregory Van Der Weil & Fansisco Fernando head in the other direction.

Xabi will give us an extra bit of balls in the defensive midfield slot as we challenge for the first time in the Champions League under my tenure as boss, hopefully he can stay injury free and help us try to better last seasons 3rd place finish.

When asked what the main reason was for signing with Liverpool Xabi had this to say " Drogba gave me a phone and said he felt like a pensioner at the club with all these young upstarts around playing playstations and BBMing each other non stop so I said I would join up for some intellectual conversations, that and the Champions League carrot.

SANTOS FRED JOINS IN £5M DEAL !

THE OX JOINS BACK ON LOAN, ZOUMA AND NEUSTADTER JOIN ASWELL FOR THE NEW CHALLENGE !

Earlier this week Tranmere Rovers agreed a deal with Northampton for 19 year old Brazilian Santos Fred, it was a deal what shocked everybody, nobody though that Fred would join another Division 3 club, £5M was a lot for a side out of the main leagues but Tranmere come up with the cash before any other suitors did.

Loans

Last season new manager Ben-SCFC took Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on loan from Ben Newman's spurs, in Chamberlains time at Tranmere he got 9 goals and 13 assists out of 30 starts for the Division 4 side who won the league, Oxlade wanted come back this season for life in Division 3 and the manager of Spurs let him get what he wished for.

Rovers were allowed two other loans for the season and the positions Tranmere could of done with was a Centre back and a central midfielder, not long after Tranmere went in for Kurt Zouma from Carlisle and Roman Neustadter from Middlesbrough, thankfully the managers accepted the loan offers for them, they will join Ox here with us until the end of the season. :)
