Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread

FULHAM-hc-BANNER.png

Chicharito gives up a palace for a cottage!

Chicharito has signed on the dotted line for Fulham after lengthy negotiations between Daz and Dom between the hot shot forward. Chicharito handed in a transfer request as he was fed up of the lack of quality at palace and he felt he spent long enough fighting at the bottom end of the english game and wanted a bigger club. Going went Doumbia who Latouche described him as a decent forward but not enough quality to play regular football in the top flight but Latouche was loathing to lose Santon who was playing regularly and this is what latouche had to say over signing Chica and losing Santon and Doumbia.

Well first of all I must thank Palace and Daz for being very easy to deal with and I will give them priority on any Fulham player for sale in the future. Well what can I say? We have been after a top class forward to compete with Hulk as Seydou while being a great team player he wasnt going to take the club forward and his goalscoring was that of a poor standard. I think Palace do have a player with a footballing brain ' date=' pace and he will do given the chance to be the main man. I didnt want to lose Davide whatsoever and he was very happy to stay but Daz fairly was very keen on Santon and had to weigh up the Fact Evra , Adriano and Luke were all ahead of him in the pecking order and Shaw and Mendy have great futures. In the end Davide knew he was not going to get the chance of regular football soon enough so wanted to go now while hes still young. Palace have a great talent and a great lad! [/quote']

While answering the question is the forward department now good enough ,He compared his forwards of that of Mo's who has been vocal over his misfiring elderly forwards and underperforming youngsters.

Im very happy with my forwards now and for the future ' date=' Hulk and Hernandez are a partnership that can be the start of golden era at Fulham and im now delighted in having 2 class strikers at Fulham. Steve has been very good at stepping in for us and considering he was surplus to requirements at a lowly Walsall then scoring well in the premier league has proven my point he is a good finisher but had a downing supplying him at walsall. We also have plenty of talent up front in Sergio Arajio , Nabil Ghilas who I must say a lot of clubs are going to regret letting me have him as this boy is going to be a star! Then theirs Bowery who has raw talent but could consider letting him go but only to 3 clubs. Bard Finne who came with a big rep but still needs a season to prove himself worthy. Tallo is a big talent who came from Serie A. And finally hard to believe a welsh talent in George Williams who is a great nippy lad and will come to the fore soon enough :D Alvaro however who is at Millwall currently may end up leaving Fulham in the summer to raise some cash unless I see improvement. Must say regarding forwards I actually feel sorry for Mo having his sorry bunch he has Berba and Kuyt who are on the last legs in terms of good PL performances and frankly dont think he has anyone capable of leading the line in future(Next season :D )

Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread

Spireites hit form with two on the trot against the big boys of Division Three

David_Moyespacesthemselves_zps5ff209bd.jpg

Manager Glory Days impressed with their recent performances

Chesterfield has registered two consecutive victories for the first time this season; the achievement is made all the more impressive by registering wins against proverbial title/promotion chasing sides of Division Three, AFC Bournemouth and Hull City. The results cap off an excellent run of games which included Derby County (2nd), Hull City (12th) and AFC Bournemouth (3rd) with Spireites grabbing six points from a possible nine.

What makes the results even more impressive, they have achieved the wins without their leading creative player Mehmet Ekici who has been out injured and found another supplier of assists in Miraleum Sulejmani. The Serbian international who was Chesterfield’s marquee signing in the offseason, showed that he was capable of matching the hype which came with his arrival in the Spireite’s 3-1 win over Hull City. His direct running, intricate passing and superb finishing which eventuated with Sulejmani grabbing 2 assists and one goal along with the man of the match award. He continued his good form with another impressive performance against third placed AFC Bournemouth with one goal and an assist. A once maligned winger, manager Glory Days has been criticised for not using the Serbian enough but the last two performances have demonstrated that Glory Days knows exactly how to utilise a top talent like Sulejmani.

Along with Sulejmani’s good performances, it has coincided with Italian striker Alberto Paloschi’s resurgence in scoring form. The Italian had recently suffered a loss of form which saw Russian Fedor Smolov given an opportunity to stake his claim for a starting spot but Paloschi has well and truly secured his starting spot with two impressive performances against two top opponents. Paloschi grabbed a brace against Hull City and a goal against Bournemouth.

Manager Glory Days reflected on their two inspiring victories in the last week:

“It’s very encouraging when we put up two performances like that. We have a very solid group of players and we held the belief that if we kept ourselves in the game, we would be every chance to cause a shock. The likes of our midfield group (Britton, Garmash, Lallana, Sulejmani, Manitias and De Silvestri along with Duncan and Antonelli off the bench) has been sensational, our defence has been watertight and our striking has been clinical. But we can’t disregard the great performances of young Averor and Vogt who stepped in when we had a loss of key personnel. I don’t know if we can top what we did in the last few games honestly”

In even more positive news, Chesterfield secured their first Spanish import Adrian Ortola who has impressed in the reserve grades at Barcelona and is waiting to be mentored by Captain Claudio Bravo.

Chesterfield will face off against Miraleum Sulejmani’s former side Plymouth Argle who are struggling at the bottom of the table but will be motivated to be in front of the home fans and no doubt the Plymouth faithful will be showing their “support” to Sulejmani’s return after his unceremonious exit from the club.

Chesterfield breaks club record to snare Spanish San Jose

sanjosepresssigning_zpscb3816ce.jpg

All smiles as Mikel San Jose sealed his move to Chesterfield

Young Spanish Central Defender Mikel San Jose was officially unveiled to the public as a Chesterfield player this morning after a torrid battle with fellow Division three rivals Birmingham City vie for the Spaniard’s signature. The Spireites broke their own club record which saw veteran Taras Mykhalyk and young Danish fullback Jonas Knudsen move in the opposite direction, the deal accumulated to $11.7 million breaking their previous record signing held by Michael Ballack for $7.8 million.

The signing of the much coveted Spanish defender San Jose represented quite a coup for the little Yorkshire side with as many as seventeen clubs monitoring San Jose with the likes of Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth interested but only Chesterfield and Birmingham registering an official interest.

Manager Glory Days couldn’t hide his delight in securing the former Aston Villa star and was open in his admiration of the young man

“I’m happy to admit that we got our top transfer target, he has great positional sense, good heading ability for his size and a strong tackler. His leadership on and off the field will be another attribute we will utilise here in Chesterfield”
“I have been a great admirer of his talents since I arrived as the manager of Chesterfield. When he was playing at Aston Villa, we tried to get Mikel (San Jose) unfortunately we couldn’t come to an agreement, so I’m glad we made it work this time around with Racing”

San Jose will have big shoes to fill with the departure of former captain Taras Mykhalyk in the opposite direction to Racing. Fan favourite and former captain Mykhalyk had played 115 games for Chesterfield and is known for his uncompromising style and was a key part of Chesterfield’s impressive promotion in season 7, not missing a single regular season game.

“We would like to wish Taras and Jonas the best of luck in Spain and thank both of them for an invaluable contribution to Chesterfield. Taras (Mykhaylk) has been a marvellous leader for our side and he is a great example for any young footballer”

British midfielder Jack Cork causes shock by moving to Spireites

corksigning_zpsb4bdeb0b.jpg

Shocker: Jack Cork makes a surprise move to Chesterfield

In what has been an exciting week at Chesterfield, former U21 English International Jack Cork has chosen to move to Chesterfield instead of reuniting with former club, Bristol Rovers. It was widely expected that Cork was going to Gary Mack’s revolution at Bristol Rovers however he surprised everyone by picking Chesterfield for $3.8 million.

Cork in his press conference shed some light with his decision

“For me, it was a tough decision whether to go back to Bristol or take a chance at Chesterfield. Although in Bristol there was a complete overhaul occurring, I was impressed with what Chesterfield have been doing and what they hope to achieve in the future. He has overseen the development of some good players and I’m excited to be here”

Cork, 24 has played 24 games in the last 3 seasons with Derby County and Bristol Rovers. He is the third British player to arrive in Chesterfield, although he plays predominately in defensive midfield, his versatility of playing right full back and central midfield would keep him in contention in a Glory Days side. Cork will be officially unveiled to the Chesterfield faithful when they play Leicester City.
