Hancock Finalises Deals With Wolverhampton and Leicester

Today morning it was announced on the official Aston Villa website that manager Hancock had agreed two deals yesterday which would see 3 new players arriving at Villa Park. The deals were reported to have been agreed with two different clubs, one with Wolverhampton and one with Division 3 side Leiecester.

Carlos Zambrano & 21 year old Maxime Lestienne are arriving from Wolverhampton in exchange for Chico Flores and young fullback Sime Vrsaljko. Villa were lacking in the wing department with only 4 first team wingers - Inui, Aigner, Sam and Sarabia and from these 4 only Sarabia and Sam can operate down both flanks. Lestienne will be a great addition to Villa's midfield and will add some much needed depth down the flanks. Zambrano will come directly in place of Chico in the team and it's predicted that the Peruvian will be played as right back.

Hancock had also reportedly reached an agreement with Leicester City manager yesterday regarding 26 year old center midfielder Mario Suarez. Hancock was reportedly in search of another quality center midfielder after the recent departure of Lars Bender and it seems he's found his man in Mario Suarez. Leicester manager Gozzy had also received interest from Sunderland who were also keen on securing the services of Suarez but Gozzy was clear that he was looking for cash to be included as part of the deal and Sunderland weren't willing to add cash to the deal. Aston Villa and Leicester have reportedly agreed a deal of £15 million along with 19 year old talent Pablo Iniguez.

With Lars Bender departing to Sunderland earlier on this season, Aston Villa were desperately in need of a center midfielder to partner 20 year old Marco Van Ginkel* in the center of the park and Suarez is perfect for the role. The Spanish midfield man is currently undergoing a medical at Villa Park currently and is expected to sign for the club later on today.

Thompson considering Barnsley future

hic8.jpg

CONSIDERING HIS FUTURE - Tykes boss Steve Thompson could leave Barnsley at the end of the season

Barnsley manager Steve Thompson gave his biggest hint yet that he may leave the club at the end of the current campaign if the clubs pre season ambitions are not fulfilled. The admission comes after the Tykes slipped to a 2-0 defeat at fellow promotion hopefuls Bournemouth a result that leaves Thompson men hanging on to a play off spot by the skin of their teeth.

Bournemouth took the lead just after half time through new signing Brown IDEYE and IDEYE wrapped the game up with 6 minutes to go to send the Cherries up to 3rd in the division 3 table whilst Barnsley continue to struggle having recorded just one win in their last ten league games.

Steve Thompson spoke to the media after the game.....

"It's a difficult result to take as i don't think we deserved to get beat tonight. This is a tough place to come but we have matched Bournemouth all the way but that's football and it's sometimes the finest of margins which give you the edge which Bournemouth showed tonight.

Our current form is a cause for concern we have gone from topping the table to relegation form and it needs to be addressed i have tried to give the current starting XI time to turn it round but it simply isn't working and it's my job to find the winning formula which looks like a change in personnel"

When questioned on reports that he was considering his future at the club Thompson said .....

"Listen this club has goals and ambitions which were set out before the season kicked off at the minute we are still on course to achieve those goals although our current form has to change if we fail to achieve our targets then i will sit down with the chairman and perhaps it would be best for all concerned if i moved on and give somebody else a chance to move the club to the next level.

At the moment i am still the manager of Barnsley Football Club and it will stay that way till the end of the current season at least"

Garmash sending off sours Spireites reaching magical 40 point mark

David-Moyesclapsfans_zpsb6ed8292.jpg

Chesterfield manager Glory Days thanks the fans for their continued support

For any newly promoted side, their ultimate goal is to consolidate their status in their respective division. This was no different for Chesterfield who have surprised everyone by securing promotion through the Division Four play-offs against a much more fancied Rotherham United.

Tipped by some pundits to be facing the drop, the Derbyshire club has sprung another surprise by attaining the magical forty points mark in record time (within 24 games). Although forty points doesn’t guarantee safety from relegation, it does serve as an indicator on how well the side is doing.

Manager Glory Days has done wonders with a side on a very limited budget, reinventing Chesterfield through transfers and player development. Their financial constraints meant that Chesterfield had to sell before they could buy, offloading two of their most pivotal players in their promotion, Hugo Rodallega and Dmitri Torbinsky. However Glory Days has done well to consolidate by replacing them with Serbian playmaker Miraleum Sulejmani purchased from fellow Division Three rivals Plymouth Argyle and promoting Alberto Paloschi into the starting XI.

Subsequent signings of Mikel San Jose and Jack Cork suggest that Glory Days has designs on staying in Division Three beyond this season.

The ongoing development of Mehmet Ekici continues to impress in only his second season with the Spireites, he has emerged as a quintessential cog in the Chesterfield machine providing seven assists and 9 goals, none of which were more important than his solidarity goal being the ultimate difference between the two promoted sides, despite Denys Garmash’s 79th minute red card.

Swindon Town and Chesterfield serve as an interesting comparison of differing playing philosophies, Swindon Town earned their Division Four title by playing scintillating attacking football often at times looking like a big fish in a little pond however when they came up to Division three, their defensive deficiencies were exposed and their over reliance on big front man Artjoms Rudnevs who was the Division’s golden boot winner with 25 goals proved to be their downfall as the Robins sitting in the relegation zone.

In contrast, Chesterfield concentrate on possession, movement and defensive solidarity. Manager Glory Days system isn’t dependent on a single goal scorer and it’s quite normal for the midfield cohort to chip in with goals on a regular basis. Simply a ‘cog in a machine’ as it were and ingrained with the philosophy of “next man up” , their team isn’t dependent on any outstanding individual but a strong squad of players.

With 40 points attained, the next goal should be to guarantee their Division Three status.

New boy Jones watches Tykes victory

0oa6.jpg

BARNSLEY BOUND - Full back Billy Jones was in the stands to watch his potential new team mates as they beat Norwich 2-1

Promotion chasing Barnsley made it 4 wins on the bounce as they edged by relegation threatened Norwich 2-1 at Oakwell. The home side took the lead bang on the half hour mark through left back Dennis AOGO who placed the ball with precision past the keeper with the outside of the foot 1-0.

Barnsley made it 2-0 on 68 minutes courtesy of a Romain HAMOUMA penalty after Steven Pienaar was fouled in the box.

Norwich ensured a nervy ending for the home fans when Jérémy PIED fired home a free-kick past Ochoa with just 7 minutes left but Thompson's men helf firm to collect the 3 points and keep their promotion charge firmly on tack. FULL TIME.

Despite the great result the main talking point amongst the supporters after the game was the news that Tottenham full back Billy Jones was in the stands ahead of a move to Oakwell.

Barnsley manager Steve Thompson confirmed the move was imminent in his post match press conference.

It's another hard fought victory for us and one i am delighted with. Norwich made a good fist of it and ensured we battled right till the end for the points. The win keeps up our good recent form and it's imperative we don't take our foot off the gas we have given ourselves a real chance of achieving promotion. It's about keeping the pressure on the teams above us right till the end and seeing where it takes us.

We have a tough trip to Dagenham next who are better than their current form suggest. Warren is a superb manager and one i have a lot of respect for but come kick off time that's put to one side and it's about 3 points which both of us need"

On the arrival of Billy Jones Thompson said ....

"I can confirm that we have agreed a deal with Tottenham for the transfer of Billy Jones. Billy has agreed personal terms with us and we are just awaiting clarification from the SMFA. Billy is a good solid full back who i have worked before during my time at Tranmere Rovers. He is a good age at 26 and could still push on further.

After we sold Sakai to Chesterfield we looked a little light defensively and Billy was the ideal replacement"

LIVERPOOL'S NEW ADDITIONS

This+Is+Anfield.jpg

Exciting times on the transfer front in Liverpool with two great players coming in to join up with the squad.

ADD_zpse2bafaf6.jpg

David Luiz- Already knicknamed 'Lolz' by his team mates just for that mop, solid at the back and can play DM.

Borges Willian-Exciting young Atttacking Mid/Winget who will compliment Ribery when both wing-playing.

Javi%20Garcia%20mcfcofficial%20Youtube.JPG

Javi Garcia was brought in a few games back and has fitted to the set up of the team greatly, 5 games and 3 goals & assists, hopefully after Luiz and Willian gain back there fitness they fit in just as well.

We as a club say goodbye to Thomas Muller who never had the best of season for us, hopefully he sets that right at City.As well as saying goodbye to Muller we may be saying goodbye to a few others as we are overstocked in some positions, no clear negotiations to alert to but as you know every man has his price.

Rocking Robins ease past toothless Tykes

j83g.jpg

DISMISSED - Steven Pienaar saw red for Barnsley in their defeat to Swindon

Barnsley saw their automatic promotion hopes take a real body blow tonight as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Swindon at Oakwell. It was a night to forget for manager Steve Thompson and the 12,000 plus home fans in attendance as star man Steven Piennar saw red for two bookable offenses and a yellow card for Vladimir Bystrov means he will miss the long trip to Ipswich this coming Saturday. The bad news didn't end there for Barnsley as news surfaced after the game that Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Rotan would join Loric Perrin,Andrey Arshavin and Maxi Lopez in the treatment after picking up an ankle knock.

The first half was relatively quiet up until the 39th minute when Barnsley took the lead thanks to a fine run and finish from Russian playmaker Aleksandr RYAZANTSEV 1-0.

Barnsley took the lead into half time but within 2 minutes of the restart Swindon were back level thanks to a well struck free-kick from Serbian attacker Lazar MARKOVIC 1-1. That goal gave the visitors a real incentive to push on and they did just that making it 1-2 on 53 minutes thanks to a 5th goal of the season from striker Artjoms RUDŅEVS.

The frustration was being felt on both the pitch and in the stands as far as the home team were concerned and it finally bubbled over with less than 20 minutes left when Thompson's men were reduced to 10 men after Steven Pienaar saw red for foul and abusive language a disappointing end for the South African. Swindon continued to search for more and they were rewarded on 78 minutes with the final goal of the game courtesy of a close range finish from Italian midfielder Lorenzo INSIGNE 1-3. FULL TIME.

Following the full time whistle Barnsley manager Steve Thompson said ....

"It's been a really disappointing night from start to finish. We never got going which is tough to say when in front of your own supporters and knowing what potentially lies ahead if you win. Far too many times this season we have dropped unnecessary and tonight is a prime example if you want to win things you need that ruthless edge to your game but tonight we were toothless"

When talking about injuries and suspension Thompson did not hold back...

"Injuries are part and parcel and there is nothing you can do about them it's just unfortunate that so many have hit us at once and at a really crucial stage of the season.

The red card for Steven (Pienaar) tonight is one i am absolutely furious about and he knows that. Having been on a yellow card he has completly let his team mates and the fans down and ended any hope we had of getting back in the game. He is one of the more senior members of our squad so to get himself sent off for something like that is just madness and he will be dealt with internally"

When asked if he would enter the emergency loan market for cover Thompson responded.....

"It's certainly an option i will be exploring we will have to see who is available. This is the worst crisis we have been through in my time at the club any club would miss 6 first team players. I am even contemplating dusting off the boots and shin pads myself"
