MOTD-SPECIAL

Liverpool
[2nd]
-Man United
[18th]

I tend to not preview my own games as any predictions could come back to you with egg on your face but today's game is a game which I feel deserves a preview.

Man United are struggling down in 18th position which is strange for a team that has won the division on more than one occasion, is this a sign of decline for Man United or just a testament to how strong the top division is becoming, Look at last year when the mighty Man City went down, could their noisy neighbors be heading down to join them? Man United stopped the rot with a first win in 7 league games with a win over Forest, is this a sign of revival or is it just the fact that Forest are woeful? The switch to 4-2-4 shows signs that Man United are trying to eradicate that bad run and they have a full team to pick from bar former Liverpool star Marcelo, Liverpool are on fire at the minute losing only 1 of their 19 games in all competitions this season, they are heading into this game in 2nd position and on an unbeaten run of 9 league games, they will be further buoyed by the fact that they beat Man United home and away last season, Liverpool are scoring for fun they have scored in 18 of the 19 games in all comps and are on an average of just under 3 per game across them games as they have scored 56 goals in the 19 games, with a full side to pick from I think it will be a home win for Liverpool by the odd goal.

Prediction 2-1

400 and not out!

Today marks a special day in the career of Dominic Latouche , He is managing his 400th game in charge of Fulham today. Ever since coming in years ago as a punk novice who famously claimed he is the ''Special one'' many years ago before lifting Fulhams doom and gloom after Rob's Walshe's terrible stint at Fulham. He is regarded as one of the finest ever managers to grace the game and Fulham fans feel fortunate to have him here after 2 major approaches. He has talked about the occasion today.

Well today is special for everyone involved with Fulham ' date=' I'm truly humbled to have lasted this long and I hope we can continue on this path and create a legacy which will be everlasting at the club when I eventually leave. We have a great squad and a great setup so we should always be battling for every trophy every season at the moment. I would like to thank Noisy's Bury today for giving us a gift of a easy 3 points here :D [/quote']

Do we miss Pedro?

Its been a while since the devastating loss of Fulham inspiration Pedro , Latouche took such a brave decision to sell him and replace him with upstarts from Division 2 James Rodrigues and Marek Hamsik. While Fulham are second (argueably should be 1st) with there new players while Pedro at MK Dons are struggling in 15th in the division below with Pedro only opening his account in the previous game albeit a Hat trick. Dominic takes a look in detail.

The loss of Pedro hit us all very hard ' date=' He was a leader , an inspiration and he was the turning point that made us into the club we are today. We were all very devastated when the decision was taken for him to go as he felt MK were a team on the up and wanted a new challenge and Fulham as a football have to think about the future and the deal presented to us gave us good reason for him to go. While Pedro hasnt scored as many and hasnt played as well is simply with disrespect we have a better team than the MK and our midfield and fullbacks could feed Pedro in to attack teams with great vigor. He may not settle in as well as he did for us because we had a complete setup made but his goal ratio declined every season so that made the decision easier.

Hamsik and James have settled in nicely with some decent performances already , Hamsik has taken the role of playmaker quite nicely with a few goals and simply running the show at times and James has performed better than what I expected of him so far with a dozen assists and brilliant performances. When they get properly settled in tho im expecting both to step up even more including Hamsik , We are seeing teams trying to attacking us through the CM and with Sahin , Carrick and Hamsik it isnt working. But the main reason for our success is switching Hulk to Pedro's position and allowing us to put Javier in and with 8 goals already he is making us a better outfit and one with a potent goal threat we have never had before. The writing is on the wall for us and now we just have to find our pens B) [/quote']

BORGNINE FALLS FOWL OF FURIOUS CHICKEN LOVERS

5265.jpgPhil Oakley Writes..Ernie Borgnine tonight faced an angry backlash from animal lovers tonight as it emerged the Sheffield United boss has taken to practising animal sacrifice as a means of deciding any potential transfer dealings. The story broke shortly after the Blades official website confirmed that the imminent departure of promising young midfielder Simon Kjaer in an exchange deal for want away Sunderland hitman Burak Yilmaz, was concluded by the ancient practice of haruspicy. The controversial process, in which the warm entrails of a recently slaughtered animal, normally a bird, are examined for omens of good fortune dates from ancient Rome and whilst rarely used in top flight football nowadays will be seen by many as further evidence of Borgnines continued commitment to alternative coaching methods.

Simon Kjaer, chicken, Meher Roy

According to an unnamed source at the club, the controversial dissection was performed at half time in tonights 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace by blood splattered Blades head coach Meher Roy 'Kaftan' Davis BUT the bird WAS suitably stunned beforehand, possibly with a spare size 10 football boot before any incisions were made. Nevertheless such assurances have done little to dampen the fury as the club have found themselves under siege by emotional chicken lovers. Speaking on radio Sheffield tonight, the head of the British poultry protection league( BPPL) Maureen Stapleton raged..

I am both shocked and to be honest more than a little livid that Borgnine has resorted to this cruel method of deciding Uniteds transfer policy. We at the BPPL have waged a long campaign to see the barbaric practice of ritual animal sacrifice stamped out in professional football, and to hear that a club of Sheffield Uniteds stature is partaking in wanton acts of murder sets our cause back by years. Lets be clear aside from the quick ring of the neck there is no kind way to kill a chicken, but to open them up on a dressing room floor is bloody disgusting. In recent scientific studies in America its been proved that chickens are at least as intelligent and sensitive as Dolphins and I shudder to imagine the terror the poor creature would have felt as it was sliced open in front of a baying mob of footballers. I can assure you that this matter will not be taken lightly and that we at the PPL will meet with other concerned parties including Bill Oddie and the RSPB to formulate a suitable and measured response to this atrocity.

Match fixing saga hitting the PL?

The world of football has been rocked with a astonishing claim from the Fulham manager that Liverpool manager Daniel Malone is throwing matches by using inept tactics and pulling second string sides against teams near him.

I believe that Daniel is fixing matches! Why on earth would he pull a second string team against Arsenal? And losing to the lights of Brentford ' date=' WBA and Blackburn rovers and without disrespecting them but they are rubbish. Why would he do it? Because he is a dirty drunk scot and they all have no morals and they wear skirts! We all know he is a petulant gambler and I fully believe the PL need to do something about him as he is a disgrace to our game and a disgrace to Liverpool and they were disgraceful before he joined [/quote']

LIVERPOOL-NEUER-MATCH FIXING ALLEGATIONS

Liverpool Boss SMH laughed off Fulham boss La Touche's claims of match fixing within the ranks of Anfield, I suppose when you are having a decent run it is a good time to try and have a pop at your rivals I am sure we will be back above them soon enough and then he will quieten down again, you have to laugh at the young upstart he actually believes his tin-pot team will one day win the Premiership, Comedy at it's finest.

THE GAMES IN QUESTION

LIVERPOOL 2 BLACKBURN 4

I must admit the 3-4-1-2 tactics that were deployed against Blackburn could look fishy if scrutinized as it is a formation what everyone knows doesn't win but I think we just underestimated the Premier new boys thinking if the formation can beat anyone it surely could have been the weak Blackburn, they were a bit lucky scoring with four of their five shots they had on target but it was a gamble that didn't pay off for us.

WEST BROM 2 LIVERPOOL 0

We played a 4-2-4 in this one with aggresive attacking tactics we managed 10/16 shots on target yet got beat 2-0 by West Brom's only two on target.

BRENTFORD 0 LIVERPOOL 0 [5-4 Pens]

We played a 4-5-1 here, we forgot to put out a cup side and the players were a bit tired from the league game from the Saturday but losing on pens in this game was not so bad.

LIVERPOOL 1 ARSENAL 4

We had to shuffle the squad up for this after leaving them out in the cup which is a rookie mistake, we played a 5-3-2 thru the middle, had a man sent off and Arsenal had 4 shots on target and scored 4.
"Blackburn 5 shots on target scored 4, West Brom 2 shots on target scored 2, Arsenal 4 shots on target scored 4 , the penalty defeat by Brentford he let in all 5 pens." NOW Reporter on Manuel Neuer's contribution in the games which are under scrutiny.

I know a News of the World interviewer has claimed Manuel Neuer has been doing a spot of spot-betting but I have faith in the German even though it does look a bit suspect from an outside point of view, I think he has had some concentration issues and the press are trying to make the most of it, this is probably fueled by information supplied by some meddlesome Premier League rival manager.

Is age concerning Craig?

It has been reported that Age concern is a major investor in Millwall and it has also been reported that they want elderly players 29+ as a condition to investing this money. They want to promote the Elderly and see Millwall as the best place to do just that. However while Craig has seemingly been happy to do this so far but he has said to be fed up as it limits his style of play. Will Craig walk to due him not being allowed to sign younger players? Or will Millwall stay a retirement home in the bottom division? Time will tell :)

Press speak with new Saints man Journal

Friday 13th December, 2013

It has been a productive day for Southampton Football Club. Around dinner time they confirmed the appointment of a new manager, that man being the young Englishmen Journal. He takes charge of a Southampton that currently sit 17th in the division 3 table with 14 games gone, and if the job couldn't get any more tougher at the moment, they face top of the table Peterborough United tomorrow night in which what will be Journal's official game in charge in the English game. He enjoys the challenge ahead though, in an interview taken from the Southampton website, this is what he had to say about taking charge, transfers and the current season:

"First of all, I am very proud to be the new manager here at Southampton Football Club. The club and fans are amazing, and the fact the club and fans have been in a similar position as to what we are in currently, I am sure they will back the team every game. I can only thank Nicola Cortese for accepting me in the club as well as Accrington Stanley manager Wayne Harman who gave me the opportunity to manage in the very competitive England.

As I said, we've been in this position before, in the third division of English football and a squad that needs strengthening in many ways to compete with the likes of tomorrows opponents, Peterborough United. This will be a transitional period for the club, not only with the new manager but players will join and players will leave the club. Cortese has given me the backing of making my own mark on the squad and to do this right away. You will see all sorts of rumours of players coming in and out of the club within the next few days thats for sure.

14 games in and we sit just above the relegation zone and going to the league leaders tomorrow night and winning will make a massive statement that its just a bad start to the season and realistically we should be up there with Peterborough. It is going to be a very tough game, I can't tell you what will happen, I don't think anyone could predict it, I had 1 training session with the squad today and I made it clear of my approach to playing football, this could work wonders tomorrow or it could take the squad sometime to adapt to it, one thing for sure is that a lot of people will be watching us and how we cope under new management.

We will try and target promotion this season, after a bad start I feel if we get a good run in the second half of the season with various squad additions we can really compete on that hopeful road back to division 1 football, where the club and fans belong. When there is any activity around the club regarding transfers I will make it clear, at the moment I am just weighing up my targets and who I feel would bring something different to the club."

"Big changes coming soon" says Journal

Saturday 14th December, 2013

This was the message given out by Journal late last night before he boarded the team bus to head down towards London Road for tomorrow nights clash wish Peterborough United. The manager already stated later today that changes will be imminent at the club and sources say there has already been several players at Southampton listed available on the transfer market. Yoann Gourcuff is one of the names, Manuel Fernandes and number one goalkeeper Volkan Demirel, no clubs have shown their interest in the players yet we understand. Journal answered questions before boarding the bus tonight and when questioned about the squad refresh, this is what he had to say:

"I believe that when changing a squad around you start from the back, once you have a secure goalkeeper you move up to the defence, then midfield and then finally the attack. Although in some cases we don't have a striker that suits my play currently so I may have to act quickly on this. Like I said today to the clubs website there will be players coming in anyway, these will be young talent that will represent Southampton Football Club in years to come so it is important we get rid of some experienced players to make way for the youngsters."

2u7obnk.jpg

Jack Butland possible Southampton target?

After the transfer listing of the Turkish goalkeeper Volkan Demirel we now understand that Southampton have contacted Watford over a possible transfer of English goalkeeper Jack Butland. He is currently Watford's number one goalkeeper at the club but it is thought that Southampton have approached to try and lure the 20 year old to the St Mary's. We understand no official bid has been made yet and there is still a long way to go in negotiations but Saints manager Journal is a fan of Butland and has made is publicly clear:

"I said we could build from the back and we will start on a goalkeeper, there has been no bids on any yet but our current number one, Demirel, has been told he could leave the club very soon, despite him being on the team bus now as we speak to head down to Peterborough. Butland has a massive future in my opinion, he would suit us well especially for a long term number one goalkeeper that would stay committed to the club, but he isnt our only target as we are looking at other possible candidates too for this goalkeeping spot."

2zso509.jpg

Could Mlapa solve Saints strike problems?

Peniel Mlapa has emerged as a target for Southampton as the club look to land a striker as soon as possible. Mlapa's transfer ban ends at Borussia Monchengladbach on the 23rd December after he moved back to Germany as a result of being sold by Blackburn Rovers back in October and since then a total number of 13 club have expressed their interest in the 22 year old. Journal has shown his interest in the striker and hopes he can land the striker when he eventually comes off his transfer ban a week on Monday.

BBC LABEL MALONE A COWBOY

11307821.jpg Mick Jones writes........Still reeling from recent accusations of match fixing besieged Liverpool boss Dan Malone finds himself in hot water this morning after a investigative team from the BBCs consumer show 'Cowboy builders' accused the part time painter and decorator of awful workmanship and exorbitant prices. Scotsman Malone set up his company DM painters and decorators during his time at cash strapped Huddersfield when after being forced to redecorate the away teams changing rooms discovered himself quite handy with a brush and roller. Seizing the opportunity to earn some quick extracurricular readies, Malone started off with little jobs around his home town of Glasgow. As work picked up Malone has since progressed from a word of mouth one man band into quite a successful outfit taking on bigger jobs and even placing an advert in the local press. A source at the BBC has confirmed that Malone came to their attention after they were contacted by 96 year old Mrs Evans of Baillieston who claimed '' they charged me 300 pounds and have done a bloody awful job on my hall''. Deciding to investigate, the programme set up a sting operation and with an actress posing as a elderly spinster they contacted Malone to carry out a similar job on a rented property in the outskirts of the city. Prior to calling Malone an independent expert told the programme makers that a quick lick of gloss around the skirting's, two coats of white on the lid and the same again in magnolia on the walls should only take a day and a half and typically would only cost around one hundred and fifty pounds.

Hughes, Melinda Messinger, Mrs Evans

Filmed by hidden cameras Malone is shown turning up at the house and quoting around 7 times that amount for the work, as he tells the actress..

dear oh dear missus, I can see your in a right pickle here, see what you have is damp in the ceiling and all this plaster is blown, it all needs to come down you know. The paint won't stick see, and what will happen is the weight of it will peel the plaster of the walls and it could land on your head. Even worse the ceiling could come down and cause a chain reaction that could make the roof fall off. Oh no this is not a quick job you know, it all needs doing again, I wouldn't normally take this kind of work on but your a nice old lady, a bit like my mum and so I am prepared to make an exception. If you can pay me in advance so I can get the materials i can have my specialist builder around here first thing on Monday morning and he an make a start.

With the programme scheduled to be shown in the spring, viewers will be shocked to see....

  • That the specialist builder turned out to Malones brother in-law Dessie Hughes an unemployed Glasgow delivery driver.

  • Work starting three days late and lasted for 2 hours before he left for an emegency job

  • Returning again the following week Hughes proceeded to hack off great areas of plaster before leaving the place in a terrible state.

  • Unable to carry out the plastering Hughes called in Malone who in between barking orders down the phone to his second in command at Anfield took all day to complete the work.

  • Malone urinating in the kitchen sink before helping himself to the biscuits

  • Malone claiming the plaster needing 4 weeks to harden off, before ignoring 45 calls to get him to return

  • Malone charging our actress an extra 150 pounds for specialist paint brushes and rollers.

  • The callous pair laughing as they drew a moustache on a picture of the actress's assumed dead second world war hero husband

When confronted outside his home by the programmes presenter Melinda Messinger a shocked Malone can be heard saying..

I don't know what you are talking you old cow, now get off my property and sod off before I get a few girls from my local around here to give you a good kicking..

Saints lose but positives taken by Journal

Journal's first game in charge of his new Southampton side ended in a loss to league leaders Peterborough United, but he claims he will take the positives from the game after his side managed to score 3 against the table toppers despite conceding 4. Southampton took the lead early on but it was cancelled out shortly after by Torres, shortly after the Saints regained the lead with Yoann Gourcuff sending Southampton in at half time ahead at London Road, the Southampton fans at this stage were going wild.

Peterborough then shown why they are league leaders in the second half, equalising 11 minutes after the restart with Bakambu slotting home. Despite Chris Wood's goal that put the Saints back ahead on the 69th minute, a massive blow took place, firstly conceding just 2 minutes after Wood's goal and then Dyer delivered the blow to Southampton and their travelling support, making it 4-3. The goal really took the wind out of Southampton but at the final whistle they received a tremendous reception from the travelling support, despite the loss things are looking up at the club.

There was a massive improvement in the work rate of the players today at Southampton, they shown a great approach to attacking, they scored 3 goals but were still beaten and this explains their current defensive problem and that they need to improve in that position. After the game at London Road we caught up with Journal before him and his team made his way back down to Southampton, this is what the Englishmen had to say:

"Today's game was a very eventful game to say the least. It left you on the edge of your seat, a great game to watch for neutrals I am sure. There was already a massive improvement in today's performance from the previous ones which I have watched back on dvd and its safe to say we can easily be up there with Peterborough if we perform like that every game, maybe not defensively but them issues will be soon sorted with new additions. I would like to add a massive thanks to the fans for their support today, they were amazing for all the 90 minutes even when we fell behind."
