Another award here for Swansea, that 4-5-1 was good enough for Mourinho at Porto/Chelsea and it was good enough for Swansea.

Young player of the season (23-and-under) :

Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread

Five games into this years league season and here is how Liverpool have fared so far:

A 0-0 draw with Derby was not the greatest start for us in the seasons opener although Manuel Neuer seemed pleased with his clean sheet.

Things looked a bit better in the second game as we beat Fulham 1-0 with Mario Gomez netting the winner, Dani Alves picked up his second yellow card in three games for the club.

The third game we beat my old side Huddersfield 4-1, Mario Gomez with a brace and Robben & Ribery on the scoresheet as well, disappointing news that Kroos picked up a two week injury though.

Fourth game was a strange one, we quickly went into a 2-0 lead thanks to Mario Gomez & Castan but newly promotes Swindon capitalized on some poor defending and grabbed two goals in a three minute spell, the game ended all square.

Fifth game was pretty dreadful, RVP put Spurs 1-0 up after a minute and although the score ended 1-0 Spurs had many more chances and should have won by a lot more.

Champions League games:

An opening 2-0 defeat to Leverkusen followed by a 4-4 draw with BVB isn't exactly the start we had envisioned but still plenty time to turn it round.

Here is a post on how we started last season:

Through our first five games we were a bit stale mustering just five points from the five games, I am not sure if we were suffering from a hangover after winning the league but things have started to improve, the last four games we have drew against Sunderland and Arsenal then won back to back games against Leeds and Fulham which is a definite improvement in form, we have to continue that in our next few games against Middlesborough and Bristol City.We beat Boro home and away last season and we have a great record against Bristol City so hopefully we can take four points plus from the pair of games to move us up a little in the league. The cup & Shield this season I have no interest in, the games are only good to give fringe players and youth a chance of some gametime, the European games are a bit boring but you have to try and do well in them as they bring in decent cash.Even though we haven't had the greatest of starts we are just six points off the lead and there is plenty of time to claw that back. Aldershot News

It was a busy and entertaining week at Aldershot Town!

Transfer Market

Douglas Maicon and Amrabat were both sold to Blackpool for a total fee of 20M! We wish them the best, i hope they can have success again in Division 4. Maicon particularly was a very important player for our success last season and i'm sure his quality and experience will help Blackpool to improve their results!

Yevhen KONOPLYANKA has completed his move to Aldershot Town from Walsall for 18,000,000
Walsall have broken their highest transfer fee received by selling Yevhen KONOPLYANKA to Aldershot Town for 18,000,000

We paid big for him, but Konoplyanka has an amazing talent and he's one of my favourite players, so i'm glad we got him! He may still get a move this summer, or in the winter much probably. I hope it will be good for his rating.

Small story: We were also very close to sign Fernando Reges from Birmingham, but he ended up moving to Walsall. It's a funny story, not too funny though as i would have loved to sign him. We were in negotiations with Walsall to bring in Konoplyanka and he asked us 18M for him, money that he would need to buy a player he was trying to get from other team, otherwise he would not sell Kono. However we never knew that the player he was trying to get was Fernando. We were also in negotiations with Birmingham in order to try to get him, and we were not too close to reach a deal, until the moment that Walsall manager tells me that the player he is looking for is Fernando and that he has reached a deal with Birmingham and he needs the money from Konoplyanka deal to buy Fernando. It was a big blow for us, as we were looking to bring in both players, which would be amazing for our team, but it was not going to happen unfortunately. We were very busy trying to fill both Walsall and Birmingham's wishes in order to get the players, we even had a small cash loan from Spurs's manager Ben Newman in order to help us to close the deals, big thanks to Ben, he's a class act really! We failed to get Fernando, but at least we managed to get Konoplyanka, which is not bad!

The Overall Awards Ceremony

This week took place the prestigious ceremony of EOS Awards, amazing job from Mr. SMH aka Dan once again and also amazing job with those pics Mr. Ben Newman! Aldershot's great season were greatly rewarded which is pleasing for us! Aldershot won a good number of awards for Division 4, but i'm very happy that we were also rewarded in the Overall Awards! Delighted to win the Most promising manager award and also the Team tipped to achieve great things next season award! Not sure about this, but we will do our best B) I was also surprised to get some votes for Team of The Season award and Over-achieving award, thanks a lot to the managers who voted for Aldershot. Appreciated :P Swansea was obviously a fair winner in most of the categorys as they made it at the very top level!

Last Match

Aldershot Town beat Plymouth Argyle 3 - 1 in their Division 3 fixture.

Rodrigo scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Defour and Herrera were also amongst the goalscorers.

Rodrigo scored one goal and was voted MOTM!

A vital win for us last saturday! We managed to dominate possession and we took our chances to score well. 5 league matches played, 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. We sit 11th with 7 points. It's not completely bad, but i think we can do better! Again, a top 6 finish would be sweet for us

Division 4 Preview

Part 1/3

August 14th - December 24th 2014

Season 11

*Rankings correct after 4 games. Predictions based on form, rating and the opinion of the Stockport County manager*

Has Craig lost the players? A starting XI average of 87 should be up there fighting for a playoff spot but yet again we see them occupying the bottom of the table. On talent alone we’ll see them climb up slowly but don’t expect too much from them. Craig cannot pick a winning formation to save his life.

Prediction: 13th-16th

One of the biggest shocks so far was the sudden resignation of Wycombe Manager, Fallen Angel prior to the start of the season. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons the former manager has had to leave the game so I’d just like to wish Fallen Angel all the best and hope that you’d be able to return to SM sometime in the future.

Fortunately enough, Wycombe have found an excellent replacement manager in Jim Garvock. Despite the poor start to the season, you’d think that a starting XI average of 86 should be good enough for a mid table finish. With everyone off the transfer ban, we’ll have to wait and see what Jim decides to do with his inherited squad before making any accurate predictions.

Prediction: 13th-16th

Season 07: 20th (D4)

Season 06: 19th (D3)

Season 05: 20th (D2)

If there was any realism in this game then Cardiff’s home attendance figures should be no more than 100 people, not 13000. In saying that though, if the season ended today then Cardiff City’s 18th place finish would be their best result over the past 7 seasons. With an 87 rated starting XI featuring the likes of LAVEZZI and MEDEL, surely they can’t be this bad again…

Prediction: 17th-20th

Season 10 proved to be a disruptive one for Leyton Orient, undergoing 3 manager resignations within a short period of time. With the likes of Mateo KOVACIC, Kingsley COMAN, Carlos CASEMIRO and so on, new manager Paolo Montero would no doubt be pleased with the squad he’s taken over. Despite being winless in their opening 4 matches, they have been in contention in every game but just haven’t got any luck at this stage. The manager has sold a few of the higher rated older players for youth so we probably won’t see them near the top this season, nevertheless they still possess a starting XI average of 87. There’s definitely plenty of potential here, a team to keep your eye on in the future.

Prediction: 13th-16th

After taking over early in Season 10, Daniel Ratcliffe has done a fantastic job, taking the team to the playoff semi finals as well as the semi finals of the English Shield. A couple of nice off season acquisitions in Bonfim MARLOS and Penial MLAPA adds a whole lot of depth. A starting XI average of 88 makes Doncaster one of the better teams in Division 4 so we can expect them to be in the mix for promotion towards the end of the season.

Prediction: 5th-8th

A starting XI average of just 83 will see Oldham feature around the bottom half of the table this season. Serdar Dragutinovic has gone with the youngsters and risers strategy which should no doubt boost his squad value. Whether he continues to invest in youth or look to get more competitive next season will be interesting to see.

Prediction: 17th-20th

Hull City narrowly missed out on automatic promotion by 1 point and subsequently got eliminated in the playoffs by surprise packets Hartlepool United. Alos Rothnie will no doubt feel hard done by, with a cruel run of injuries late in the season sidelining several big name players. Hull City will go in with a relatively unchanged squad with a starting XI average of 88. A very good team with high expectations, A playoff spot at the minimum.

Prediction: 3rd-6th

Plymouth Argyle pulled off a stunning escape, winning their last 2 games which ultimately resulted in the shock relegation of Burton Albion. Tony (Forum) was a long serving manager of Stockport County before deciding to ditch them for the Brewers during the midway point of the season. As a result, I predict them to come last in the division.

Prediction: 17th-20th

Patrick Hermann

Liverpool trade out Sofaine Feghouli in a part-exchange deal for German Patrick Hermann from Aldershot, the deal is pretty much like for like position-wise, we drop a rating, Feghouli has been used sparingly by us over the last 3 1/2 seasons playing just 21 league games with 10 subbie appearances, Liverpool wish him all the best at Aldershot I think he will be a main player for them this season, for us Hermann will take that spare player role for cups or when/if injuries mount in his position.

4 SEPT:Matchday 6. Southend United - Stockport County

Southend United 2 - 1 Stockport County

Stockport County have lost their 4th straight game, going down to division 4 leaders Southend United last night. Despite a spirited effort from Stockport County's 'B team', the difference in class was too great as Southend United strikers Joel CAMPBELL and Piere LASOGGA proved to be too much for the hatters inexperienced backline.

Prior to the game, Stockport County manager WillC made a stunning statement to the players, dropping all 10 starters citing poor performance and a lack of professionalism. As a result, the expected loss brings WillC's managerial record with the club to 0 wins 6 draws and 10 losses.

Aldershot new signings!!!

Feghouli is Aldershot's new star and he can make a big impact!

Sofiane FEGHOULI has completed his move to Aldershot Town from Liverpool in a swap deal for Patrick HERRMANN

Guilavogui will be a strong presence in Aldershot's midfield

Diego REYES has completed his move to Portsmouth from Aldershot Town for 3,000,000 plus Josuha GUILAVOGUI
Abdoulaye DOUCOURÉ has completed his move to Aldershot Town from Stade Rennais for 2,462,000
Hadi SACKO has completed his move to Aldershot Town from Girondins Bordeaux for 1,952,000

The loan offer for Balde KEITA of Huddersfield Town from Aldershot Town has been accepted. The loan deal has been completed.
The loan offer for Rúben VEZO of Liverpool from Aldershot Town has been accepted. The loan deal has been completed.
The loan offer for Massadio HAIDARA of Manchester United from Aldershot Town has been accepted. The loan deal has been completed.

We've been very busy in the transfer market since last week, and i'm very happy with the changes we made in the team! We're definitely stronger and i'm loving this team more and more :DFeghouli and Guilavogui are simply top additions to our team. Doucouré and Sacko are two great young french players, who should rise significantly in the next reviews, specially and mostly Doucouré. We also brought in 3 young players on loan, we were short at the back, after the departure of Diego Reyes and the injury of Berezutski, so we really needed to bring someone, specially considering Cup matches are just coming. Vezo and Haidara gives us good cover! Keita will also be very important to replace our main strikers. Again, thanks to the managers for the loans!

A new player will join us tomorrow! It will be our last move in the market for a while. We will be fully ready and stronger enough to push for a top 6 finish! Tomorrow (or tonight :P) we have a big match, travelling to Yeovil Town, to face Mr. Malcolm's team, who are currently leading the league on par with West Ham. It would be nice to win B)

Let's go Shots!

After the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Spurs we switched out the 4-1-3-2 formation for a 4-2-3-1 formation for the games against the 'Old Masters', this seems to have been a wise move as we managed to win 2-0 at home against Jooles Boro keeping up our 100% home record this season, that was followed by a tight 1-0 win over Sops Man United which gained us our first away win of the season.

These back-to-back wins were are very much welcomed especially the first away win of the season as it is always nice to get that one in the bag, we have a shield game against Leyton Orient and a Champions league game against Leverkusen to get out of the way before we take on our Merseyside rivals Everton in our first derby meeting of the season, these games are usually tight, we have not won in our last two home games against Everton so hopefully it will be third time lucky.

Souttar & Hermann set to make their Liverpool debut

Shield team to face Orient

Stefan Bell joins Aldershot!

Stefan BELL has completed his move to Aldershot Town from Mainz for 6,196,000

Young german CB Stefan Bell is Aldershot's newest player! He's 85 rated and he should get a rise soon, which is great, considering he's only 23 years old. He's a great addition to our squad, specially considering we were short at the back after selling Granat to Dynamo Moscow for 8.1M, and also considering we got Bell for CV! He's younger and has bigger potential than Granat, and they should be rated the same soon! A good young defender is hard to get so i'm very happy to get this lad!

Although i should say Bell was not our first option because we wanted to buy Oleg Shatov but the money from Granat came too late and it was not possible for us to bid in time. But in the end i think we did ok, because we needed a defender more, clearly, specially a young and quality one like Bell. And we still have 2M from Granat's sell :P

Arsenal arrived at Anfield in full Spanish combat gear armed with two ex-Liverpool stars in the line-up, well if they were looking for a battle then they got what they came for.

Juan Mata curled in a free-kick to put the visitors 1-0 up in the first few minutes, he did the same again early in the second half with an superb free-kick to send the Arsenal armada into raptures at 2-0 up.

SMH delved into his tactic books and made some changes in tactics and personnel, this sparked a spectacular revival, captain Kroos pulled one back with less than twenty to go then wing-wizard Robben pulled Liverpool level with ten minutes to play, the crowd were on their feet driving on the Anfield warriors and to their delight substitute Willian grabbed the winner with less than two minutes on the board, the crowd erupted, Spanish flags were burned and I swear I even saw a tear in SMH's eye.

After the 90 minutes were up it was discovered that Chico, Juanfran & Villa had all suffered injuries for Arsenal, I am sure Pepe left the field with with a chunk of Juanfrans ankle on his boot, well that is the rumour.

What a game, what a battle, what a win!
