I never planned to have more then 50 individual threads on players. To be honest, it's getting way too hard to keep them all somewhat updated and the answer all questions. So I'll stick them all in he

Re: Brazil Player Reports and Updates

Just a few players worth keeping an eye on:

MATHEUS CARVALHO

Matheus Thiago de Carvalho

March 11, 1992

Attacking Midfielder

Fluminense

Skillset: Goal scoring attacker who can also drop back to be a top playmaker.

Why he's one to watch: With Dalton and Wellington Silva now gone, he's the top prospect from Fluminense and the most likely one to earn a promotion. Has dominated at every level so far.

LUCAO

Lucas Alves de Araujo

July 22, 1992

Center Back

Corinthians

Skillset: Big defender is quick on the tackle and strong in the air at both ends.

Why he's one to watch: Even though he's still likely behind Vincent, Corinthians are not very deep in defenders. More long-term though.

ELIAS

Elias Fernandes de Oliveira

May 22, 1992

Attacker/Attacking Midfielder

Corinthians

Skillset: Quick and slippery, Elias is one of the best young all-around attacking players in Brazil. Has tremendous vision and a decent shot to boot.

Why he's one to watch: Has exploded onto the scene in the past few months. His style would fit right in behind Ronaldo, and he's likely to earn his promotion after this tournament.

PATRICK VIEIRA

Patrick Marins Vieira

January 11, 1993

Attacking Midfielder/Left Back

Palmeiras

Skillset: Don't be fooled by the name, Patrick Vieira is a tremendous attack-minded player. He's the field general for Palmeiras, with a flair for the highlight goal. Youtube some of his stuff from the Copa Sao Paulo 2011.

Why he's one to watch: Because every time you focuse in on him, he does something amazing. Likely to get promoted soon as well, Palmeiras need a player like him.

BRUNO SABIA

Bruno Henrique Sabia

March 21, 1994

Attacking Midfielder

Palmeiras

Skillset: Impressed in sub appearances (subbing for Patrick Vieira) in the Copinha. He has a history of goal-scoring with his former club Paulista, but I'd consider him more of a playmaker. Ready to take charge of the Palmeiras junior side already.

Why he's one to watch: Has been called up for the U17 Sudamericana, where he very well could be starting next to Andrigo Araujo of Inter. Could very well develop into a generational talent.

FRAN

Francisco Teocharis Papaiordanou Filho

May 5, 1992

Holding Midfielder

Corinthians

Skillset: Built from the same prototype as Corinthians midfielders Jucilei and Ralf. Big, strong and hard to push off the ball, but still somehow graceful running up and joining the attack.

Why he's one to watch: He'll likely be given more time to develop, but he has the natural attributes to be a big-game player.

ANDRE GAVA

Andre Luiz Gava de Borba

June 8, 1992

Attacking Midfielder

Criciuma

Skillset:

(0:55). Scored the goal of the Copinha, but he's more of a playmaker than a goalscorer. I've come away impressed every time I've watched him, which is why he is being mentionned despite playing for a small team like Criciuma.

Why he's one to watch: Criciuma will need all the help they can get this season, having been promoted to Serie B. Gava is their top prospect.

GUILHERME NEGUEBA

Guilherme Ferreira Pinto

April 7, 1992

All-around midfielder

Flamengo

Skillset: Possession oriented midfielder. He's excellent at holding his ground and keeping the ball. Not a spectacular attacking player by any means though.

Why he's one to watch: This Copinha is likely his last tournament with the Junior team. He was promoted late last year, and played the end of the Brasileiro with Flamengo.

ADRYAN

Adryan Oliveira Tavares

October 8, 1994

Attacking Midfielder

Flamengo

Skillset: What's not to like? Brilliant vision and the creative force behind any team he's been on. Heavily involved in Brazil's youth setup.

Why he's one to watch: He's been included in Flamengo's pre-season and has been one of their best players at the Copinha. Could very well play next to Ronaldinho as soon as this season, and he just turned 16.

MATEUS

Mateus Barbosa Teixeira

August 8, 1994

Center Back

Gremio

Skillset: Here's hoping he still grows a few more centimetres. If he does, he'll be deadly. A CB who can also play anywhere in the midfield, he has all the skills of his brother (Gremio's Maylson) and is a sick defender as well.

Why he's one to watch: Already playing a key role for Gremio's U19s, he's been called up to the U17 national team. Too bad his partner, Gerson, is injured and won't be joining him.

GABRIEL ARAUJO

Gabriel Araujo Carvalho

January 29, 1992

Left Wingback

Cruzeiro

Skillset: Good velocity down the wing, capable crosser and passer, great free kick taker. Best youth-team left back in Brazil at the moment.

Why he's one to watch: He's dominated at every level. Has even been in the top scorers. Will be a decent backup for Diego Renan, more than capable of replacing him if it comes to that.

VINCENT

Vincent Bikana

February 26, 1992

Center Back

Corinthians

Skillset: Dominant defender, very hard to get past. A bit stiff (like most Cameroonean defenders) but he's a player.

Why he's one to watch: He's next in line for Corinthians, and probably isn't far away from a full international call-up either.

EMERSON

Emerson Gustavo Pinto dos Santos

February 27, 1992

Attacking Midfielder

Gremio

Skillset: Made headlines this week when he smashed a penalty through the net and it wasn't counted. Also scored 3 other goals that game. Ex u17 national team player has speed to burn and a devastating shot.

Why he's one to watch: Internazionale have already inquired about him. He's likely to be promoted after this tournament.

WELLINGTON

Wellington Silva Sanchez Aguiar

February 6, 1992

winger

Fluminense

Skillset: Dynamic winger who had an off year last year due to injury. Has been very impressive early in 2011 and with Wellington Silva gone, this could be the year he steps out of the shadows.

Why he's one to watch: Was just as good as Coutinho, Zezinho and Wellington Silva if not better for the national U17 team. The talent is there.

WILLIAM HENRIQUE

William Henrique Rodrigues da Silva

January 28, 1992

Attacking Midfielder/Attacker

Gremio Prudente

Skillset: Quick and talented, he's one of those all-Brazilian boys that you'd expect to see. Reminiscent of Marquinhos when he was at Vitoria in 2008. Already has his first Brasileiro goal as well.

Why he's one to watch: Prudente have been relegated to Serie B and their top players are gone, including Willian Jose. William Henrique will likely get a much bigger role.

WILLIAN JOSE

Willian Jose da Silva

November 23, 1991

Striker

Sao Paulo

Skillset: Which reminds me of Sao Paulo's new signing from Prudente. Goal scoring center-forward.

Why he's one to watch: Scored 5 in the Brasileirao last season and is currently playing with Neymar and co. for the U20 national team.

Re: Brazil Player Reports and Updates

A few are. Willian Jose definately' date=' he's established in the Brasileirao. I'm pretty sure William Henrique is as well. Negueba was added this week for Fla. The rest havn't played senior (competitive) yet.[/quote']

Cheers for that :) Realised my question was one of those lazy ones which I hate answering so much :P

Re: Brazil Player Reports and Updates

Today's update:

Mike, the 17 year old goal scorer from Paulista FC, scores in the 89th to eliminate Vasco da Gama from the Copa Sao Paulo.

Carlyle, back at CFZ from Flamengo, scores in the first game of the Candangao.

Danielzinho scores and has a very good game in the opener of the Paulista, a 3-1 win over Gremio Prudente. (big win for Sao Bernardo)

Re: Brazil Player Reports and Updates

My theory has always been that Paulinho would break through as soon as Elias left Corinthians.

Scored in the first game of the season. Good start.

Insider...

out of Willian Jose , Leandro Damiao and Diego Mauricio, who is most likely to get the most playing time this season? Jose and Mauricio with U20 at the moment but read there all good prospects..whats your take?

thanks.

Damiao, because Flamengo have more attacking players (Ronaldinho, Thiago Neves, Deivid, Vander etc) and Sao Paulo as well (Dagoberto, Mazola, Fernandinho, Marcelinho, Lucas, Marlos, ...) than Inter.

My personal favourite of the three is Diego Mauricio.

Re: Brazil Player Reports and Updates

Update from yesterday:

Bismarck scores his second in 3 games for Fortaleza.

Casemiro scores in an amazing performance at the U20s.

Caio gets a goal and an assist in Botafogo's opener, a 2-1 win.

Tinga caps off a good performance with the last goal in a 4-1 Palmeiras win.

16 year old Adryan scores twice in the Copinha quarter finals for Flamengo.

Vander scores his first Flamengo goal in his competitive debut.

Also, 18 year old John Lennon, who Tom picked in the SMEL for his name alone, scored for Vila Nova. He just turned 18 and is a wingback. Good player?

Just a question on Vander

It is Luiz Vander (78) right? How come on SM he is at Bahia

Re: Brazil Player Reports and Updates

RIGHT... Ive read every single page of the 19!! So can say with some confidence that NO-ONE has asked about Cleiton Xavier :) I have also clicked on his individual thread and not found my answer!! Finally I know he ain't been playing his game in Brazil for a while...

So... 89 rated... been in my squads since day dot... waited and waited on a 90 for an eternity (well 2 years)... INSIDER... Please :)... What should I do with him????

In addition ive a great deal of Brazilians in many of my squads and the rating changes are almost upon us. If I posted a list of names would you be willing to give me a 'ye' or a 'ney' on who to keep long-term?? Didn't want to be cheeky and post it without asking.

Thanks
