Re: NFL Predict

Good luck tonight everyone....

Bears @ Dolphins - Is anyone else completely dumbfounded by this game tonight ? Fins are starting a 3rd string QB who is 1-10 in his career as a starter, and there are no other QBs on the roster if the guy gets hurt. Their left tackle is questionable for the game, and he's the one that Peppers will be going up against. They only have the wildcat and some power rushing going for them in this game tonight. I bet we see 20 wildcat plays from scrimmage. Plus they are going up against Devin Hester. Safe to say it doesn't look good on paper for them. Meanwhile all you need to know about Da Bears is the Cutler is their QB. Put this guy under the lights and he rolls snake-eyes most of the time. I lifted this next part from ESPN.... "Strange things happen to Cutler at night. Last season, he threw five interceptions in one night game, four in another and a total of 13 interceptions in five. On a Sunday night earlier this year, he was sacked nine times in the first half by the Giants before departing with a concussion. Thursday night, Cutler could be without one of his favorite crutches. Cutler has thrown the second-most screen passes (31) in the NFL this season. But the Dolphins' defense has been especially adept at stopping those plays. Opponents are completing just 55 percent of screen attempts against them, by far the lowest mark in the NFL. The Redskins rank second at 71 percent. We'll see if Cutler can get through a night game without one of his favorite plays."

Anyway... Being a hater and picking against Da Bears...

Speaking of Da Bears... I saw The Bus talking about his favorite play of all time. Here it is, straight over Bad Asss Brian Urlacher:

Great analysis JC....Da Bears D swarms Thigpen all night long, Cutler has a decent night (by his late-night TV standards) and Miami are held to a shutout in their own backyard. :)

Go Bears!

PS - Kylan, I hope you realise you missed out a lot of picks....

Re: NFL Predict

Best O' Luck to everyone this week..

Bears @ Dolphins - what was I thinking

Ravens @ Panthers

Texans @ Jets - I will gladly lose this game

Bills @ Bengals

Raiders @ Steelers - no way they lose 2 in a row @ home

Browns @ Jaguars - Cribbs is questionable (yikes!)

Lions @ Cowboys - but I will be rooting for the Lions

Packers @ Vikings - I seriously think this is the game where Favre literally loses a limb on the field

Cardinals @ Chiefs

Redskins @ Titans

Seahawks @ Saints

Falcons @ Rams

Buccaneers @ 49ers - pick'em, but the Bucs are 3-23 in their history in California, including their Super Bowl win

Colts @ Patriots

Giants @ Eagles - pick'em

Broncos @ Chargers (36) - a 36-0 Chargers win !

Re: NFL Predict

Week 11 Round-up

Week11Predictions.png

Champ of the week - JinxMillion

It's taken him a while to get going, but JinxMillion has finally found himself at the top of the pile - and he did so with the best record of anyone this season. The Dane blew all his competition out of the water this week by posting a 15-1 record to defeat Lenny in a shootout. Lenny was unfortunate to come away with the loss having posted a 14-2 record himself, but he was at a loss to restrict Jinx's relentless correct predictions. Only the Redskins' victory over the Titans did the surfing Scandinavian fail to foresee.

Chumps of the week - Bale, NinoBrown NUFC and Adam D

Week 11 saw three people fail to get in their predictions, and all three ended up with a big fat L on their scoresheet. With just seven away successes this week, it was always going to be a struggle for Bale, Nino or Adam D to pick up the win, although Bale ran Hercule close, going down by the solitary incorrect prediction. Unfortunately for Nino and Adam D, they were up against opposition who were not prepared to go lightly on them, as NumberSix and Kylan took them to the cleaners.

Sick of going to OT - Dermo

Dermo just can't stand it. Whenever his match-up ends up all-tied, overtime goes and stabs him in the back. Although he has triumped on one occasion this season on the tie-breaker, his other three forages into the extra period have brought him his only three losses of the season, with the latest defeat coming this week against andyowls. With a little more luck, he could be on his way to a perfect season right now. Instead, he has to look nervously over his shoulder at the viscious pack of dogs that stalk him in the AFC North.

Back from the dead? - Stuart H

Last week, Stuart got the monkey off his back and picked up his first win of the season by defeat Hercule Poirot. Not only that, but he did so with the best record of the round, making him Week Ten's Champ of the Week (apologies for not commemorating such a feat, Stuart!). This week, Stuart's gone one further and doubled his W tally for the season, as he defeated jambogenius in a fiercely contested battle. With a 23-7 record from the past two weeks, Stuart finds himself as the league's form man, and back in with a shot at making the play-offs. Question is though, can he build on it?

Ouch, tough loss there - Lenny, Dermo, Johnny, jambo and Dobby

NFL Predict is a cruel, cruel game. Just when you think you're getting a good read of the teams and their match-ups, you come up against somebody with an equally good read. The aforementioned five all picked up records of 11-5 or better, which would have stormed you to victory in many previous weeks. Unfortunately, the quality of the predictions in Week 11 was immense, leaving these few to curse their luck and lick their wounds before returning to battle in Week 12.

No love for the.....Redskins, Bills

The Redskins have been very inconsistant this season, pulling off surprise victories one week, before falling to timid defeats the next. However, they pulled one out of the bag in Week 11 by defeating the Titans, although their plight was made easier once they knocked Vince Young out of the game (ending his season), leaving rookie back-up QB Rusty Smith to take the reins. Even then, the 'Skins laboured to victory with a FG in OT. Meanwhile, the Bills pulled off a huge shock by stunning the Cincinnati Bengals. The hosts held a 21-point advantage during the second quarter, but Ryan Fitzpatrick led a momentous comeback to triumph 49-31. Jinx was the only man to (knowingly) predict either of these two sides, as he boldly plucked for the Bills.

Aww man, that was a no-brainer! You should've picked da.....Bears

Somehow, da Bears have now made it through Week 11 with a 7-3 record, despite a shoddy O-line, an average running game and an interception-happy QB. However, the Defense of old is back and keeping Chicago in many games that the shouldn't deserve to remain in. This past Thursday night, they stuffed the Miami Dolphins down in Florida, with Julius Peppers leading the team with three of the D's five sacks of third-string QB, Tyler Thigpen. Jay Cutler led the offense in doing just enough for a 16-0 shutout, leaving Johnny C and AdamG with egg on their faces.

Week 11 Tables:

NFLPredictWeek11Tables.png

Notes:

- Lenny's 4-game winning streak was brought to an abrupt halt this week by Jinx, stopping Lenny from moving to the top of the NFC North, after his main rival, Adam D, also lost.

- Hercule snapped a 4-game losing streak to keep in touch with the frontrunners in the NFC North, moving above the increasingly inactive NinoBrown in the process.

- NFL Predict's form man lost for the first time in 7 matches, as Johnny C went down to KNVB. His defeat keeps andy in with a chance of usurping him at the top of the NFC South.

- NFL Predict's whipping boy has found his feet and some form, as Stuart picked up his second win in as many weeks. Dobby's struggling to recover from the situation that Troy left him in, leaving Stuart with a very realistic shot at the post-season.

- Dermo's third loss of the season came on another TB'er - just like his other two defeats - and they've all come in inter-conference games. With a 91-56 record, Dermo is arguably this year's MVP in the making.

- KNVB and AdamG both snapped 3-game losing streaks to keep the AFC North as the most hotly contested division of them all. Coupled with jambo's defeat to Stuart, that division really could go anywhere.

- Kylan continues to boss the AFC South, or perhaps it should be re-named the NFC West, the way the other teams are struggling? At 7-3, Kylan is the closest to locking down his division.

- With a seasonal predicting record of 93-54, Kylan also has the best numbers of the whole league.

- However, Jinx and NumberSix are in resurgent form after taking half the season to get going. Both were impressive in picking up their third win's of the season, closing the gap behind Bale down to just a single victory.

Week 12 Match-ups:

Week12Match-ups.png

Week12NFLMatch-ups.png

PLEASE NOTE:

This week is Thanksgiving in the States, and to those who aren't aware, means we'll be having plenty of football action on Thursday night (joy!). That means that you have three Thanksgiving Football (TGF) matches to call for Thursday, so it's even more important for you to get those picks in on time. Otherwise, you'll be fighting a losing battle come the weekend!

Cheers,

Andy :)

Re: NFL Predict

Eagle-eyed Stuart has informed me that I have made a mistake on this week's match-ups. No the 49ers aren't playing twice this weekend, just the once on Monday @ the Cardinals. It should read the Buccaneers @ Ravens, although all of you who have already made their picks have realised my mistake. And to be honest, screw you all - I can't be bothered to change it! :D
