I think he's had more this season than usual from the Madrid matches i've watched.

I doubt these were his only freekicks this year. I know he scored his first of the season very recently; possibly Osasuna. I think Ronaldo is better than Messi at free kicks but I don't think it's a major plus point in his game. He wastes far more than he scores and has a much worse conversion rate than several other 'specialists'. It's more a case of free kicks being a low point in Messi's game which is more a case of him and Barca not shooting from a lot of free kicks. The one he scored against Atletico that's been posted in the YouTube videos was an opportunistic strike from a free kick that looked like it'd been set up for a cross into the box. Ronaldo shoots from everywhere and the shots can go anywhere.

How many teams have a specific free-kick taker, usually teams have about 3 or 4 for different situations. Plus how many shoot directly, some just dink them in the box or drill them for a touch, I think Madrid are one of the few examples of a team with one designated Free-Kick taker who shoots from every free-kick. I mean for example Liverpool Gerrard or Suarez get the close ones to shoot Gerrard or Bellamy will cross them in Agger will take far out shots

Most players just dont have that strenght in their legs to perform such great shots hence they never try them. If Messi tried that it would hit the wall/comfortable save for the keeper. If Messi tried that it would hit the wall/comfortable save for the keeper. And 95% of the time Ronaldo's blaze over or hit the wall. I'd much rather keep possession and fashion a better chance in such a situation than battering a hopeful 40 yard drive in the general direction of the goal.

How many of those possesion free kicks results in goals though? Exactly. Whether you shoot or pass youre not guaranteed a goal. And Ronaldo shooting it results in more chance of goal IMO

Whether you shoot or pass youre not guaranteed a goal. And Ronaldo shooting it results in more chance of goal IMO The point is, your Ronaldo free kick is wasted situation, ball given to opponent. You are not guaranteed a goal with passing the ball, but you will often get a good attack that takes more time from the opponent, denying them the chances to build attacks, tiring them, resulting in corner kicks, new better free kicks, possibly penalty kicks, and so on. I find 100 better uses for a free kick than blasting it to stands.

No it's not He practices a freekick technique, turning the ball and the dipping effect, it's not just smashing it, it is actually a technique that he works on

If that was the case I'm sure he would have been replaced as RM's free kick taker. He doesn't just hit it anywhere hoping for the best. He aims for certain spot where goalkeeper will often not get to due to sheer speed of the shot. The point was' date=' Juninho is a current free kick taker.Anyway, if Ronaldo has indeed scored, what, one or two free kicks this season, I can point you various set pieces takers who have converted more with better rate.[/quote'] I know he is and I admit Juninho is better than Ronaldo at FK's but he's been around and everyone knows him as the king. And It's not one or two its more. I don't follow his every goal though. Talent Searcher might be able to tell you more. Dermo 4,315
Re: Official Spanish La Liga Discussion Thread Hernan Perez of Villarreal scores a thunderbolt in stoppage time from a corner to give his side victory over Malaga. It's one to youtube if you can. More the fact that the game was dead at 1-1, with Cazorla scoring first, and a mightily impressive (as a legend in the game as opposed to anything else) Senna scoring from a penalty kick. Senna was good tonight, and I thought this game was poor, and heading to 1-1. But football is mightier than the pen, as Shakespeare would say if he was there.

Guess that also rules out any hope he had, as did perhaps Prandelli for being an inclusion into the Azzuri Euro squad, even despite not having played. It's a massive setback, one where now I wonder if potential thought to be suitors keen on making a move for Rossi, say, Juventus, will completely shy away from him now, until he's regained a run of form again, which could take upwards of a year. He plays in a more deeper role then all the others mentioned but I would love it if he got picked, if not then I would like to see him play for a club like Sevilla or possibly Atletico Madrid to see how he develops because he looks a good player.
