To say he could've won more trophies, he could've won it yes but it's easier said than done. In 3 seasons he won 2 trophies and he reached the CL Semi-Finals thrice. Yes he caused a lot of issues with the player but he did a good job with Madrid nonetheless.

Im surprised he lasted as long as he did tbh. Obviously its not easy, but thats why managers get paid so much, to do their jobs ie fulfill the teams potential.
Magic J 10,640
Re: Official Spanish La Liga Discussion Thread Im not sure how anyone can call Mourinho average, logically at least. By all means dont rate him as the best, or one of. But saying average makes out as if your saying it to go against the grain, be different and not rate him purely because you feel other people over hype him. Everything he has done to date would suggest he is a world class manager, the trophies and the statements from some of the worlds best players would suggest that. On what basis can you justify him as average?

They just can't find the answers to his indomitable stats. And the reason Real lost the la liga this season was because of an awful start to the campaign and not because Barca was better. In the last FIVE El Clasico's Barca couldnt beat Real once. Few could've thought of that when Mou took over. Real clearly finished the season as the strongest team in spain. Could Bayern destroy Real 7-0 ? Not with Mourinho as coach. Yeah he lost 5-0 to Barca but thats at the start and since then Real have come leaps and bounds. Yeah CR7, Ozil etc had a massive role to play in Real's transformation but Mourinho brought intesity and that steely belief among the players that they can upstage Barcelona in their golden era. I know how much we felt inferior to Barca prior to Mourinho's arrival.

Your question is hypothetical so we will never know. What I do know is that Ancelotti will be a lot more dignified and befitting of leading one of the world's truly great clubs and understanding its values and tradition than ME ME ME Mourinho ever will. He was brought in to win La Liga and Ultimately the Champions League which is what Madrid have craved for years as it has been ages since there last success. three chances in each competition he won one. That is not the return Madrid was wanting when they employed him on his mega bucks contract, you know it I know it. A domestic cup success in this day and age means very little in the grand scheme of things for most big clubs in the big Leagues especially for a club like Madrid arguably the biggest club in the world. That ain't what brings Presteigne Nd more importantly revenue. He inherited. Wonderful set of players and had a massive chequebook he more than had the resources to compete. He had more time than most managers get at Madrid and his last season was a shambles in so many ways (most of them off the actual pitch) He didn't deliver what they employed him to deliver. He embarrassed Madrid as a club with his how shall we say "antics" and completely alienated a vast majority of the squad. The majority of people in Spain and a large majority of Madrid fans themselves won't miss him he was reviled over there by large sections.
