JamesO'D 343
Re: GC 137 News/Tranfer Discussions/Match Reports Roma have made 2 HUGE moves in the transfer market The best midfiedler in the game, Xavi, has signed in a deal where De Rossi and Vucinic went to Barcelona. Their second deal in the transfer market was the recent signing of Goran Pandev. The fee is believed to be around £25,000,000 for the Macedonian star. Roma are looking to make another couple of singings before the season starts, but if they can't, they are happy enough with the singings already made

ray1981 22,829
Re: GC 137 News/Tranfer Discussions/Match Reports Manchester City Update: Mixed start to the season and a couple of new faces to report: Matchday 1- Blackpool 1 MANCHESTER CITY 7 Manchester City ran riot as they condemmed Blackpool to the worst possible start and gave them a indication of the toughness of the Premier League. Goals from Vidal, Toure, Santa Cruz, and braces from David Silva and Carlos Tevez gave city the best possible start. The game was somewhat marred by a horrific inhury to new boy Vidal which will see him miss most of the season. SMFA Shield round 1 Leg 1- Gremio 1 MANCHESTER CITY 0 A much changed City slipped to defeat in Brazil against a determined and energetic Gremio. Despite dominating proceedings man City lacked a cutting edge and face a tough task to progress in the competition. The only positives being competitive debuts for Wilshere and reinartz who both acquited themselves relatively well. League Matchday 2- MANCHESTER CITY 2 Chelsea 3 City slipped to defeat against the Champions in a very evenly and entertaining match at the City Of Manchester Stadium. Tevez fired city in front but Chelsea showed the class of champions to lead 3-1 and despite a late goal from Wayne Bridge embaressing John Terry from a corner it was not enough as the first show in front of our own fans ended in defeat. League Matchday 3- Blackburn 0 MANCHESTER CITY 1 Man City resumed winning ways with a professional performance against Blackburn who had been very boistrous in there pre-season build up but Man City gave them a reminder of the levels they will need to reach to be competitive this season. A rare goal from anchor man Nigel De Jong proving the difference. City are 3rd at this early stage with no team managing to win all there first 3 games indicating that this season could be very evenly matched. more transfer news to come out of Eastlands: Roque Santa Cruz leaves in a deal which sees 7m+Wesley join from Bremen Scott Dann arrives for 2m+unneeded Michael Johnson from Birmingham Young talent Josh Mcclechan also arrives in a deal costing 5.5m and goes straight into a ever increasing pool of young English talent at the club as pauley tries to have English players at the heart of this Man City team. JamesO'D 343
Re: GC 137 News/Tranfer Discussions/Match Reports Roma, like Man City, have also had a very up and down start to the season Lazio 0 - 1 Roma . League A very hard thought and deserved win for Roma to open up the campaign against a very difficult Lazio. It wasn't the greatest of games, but a 79 minute volley from substitute Adriano gave Roma the 3 points. Roma 0 - 2 Liverpool . Champs Cup A weakened Roma side set out to play in an attacking style, but got caught twice on the break as Liverpool won fairly easily. Despite having plenty of the ball, the Italians just couldnt break down the stubborn English defence, with Adriano and Simplicio coming closest. Liverpool started the second half with a brilliant start, with Skrtel scoring less than a minute in. Man of the match Jean Beausejour killed the game off on the 79th minute, as Roma slumped to a poor defeat in the opening game of group G Roma 0 - 2 Milan . League Another giant side easily seen Roma off, as Milan replicated Liverpools result. Roma were simply outplayed, with Inzaghi and Villaluz scoring from the only shots Milan had on target. Roma didn't deserve a thing with the poor football they played Roma 2 - 0 Fiorintina . League Yet another tricky encounter, as Roma looked to bounce back from back to back defeats. They did this with Pandev and Adriano scoring either side of half time. Roma fully deserved this win, depite having stars Xavi, Juan and Totti all being rested. Roma are said now to be lookng for more consistency in their play, as they take on Lecce in the first round of the Italian Shield next. Transfers: IN Xavi arrived as De Rossi and Vucinic went to Barca Pandev arrives from Internazionale for £25,000,000 BREAKING NEWS Young wonderkid Mattia Destro is on his way to the Italian side for a fee of £6,000,000. Despite paying big, Roma are delighted to see him arriving soon in Italy, after seeing of stiff competiton from Cruz Azul, Kettering Town, Parma and Manchester City for his signature. The youngstar said "this was my dream move. To play in Italy is a dream come true, and to play alongside legends like Xavi and Totti is unreal. I hope to improve as a player here and soon compete to start regularly for this great team!"
ray1981 22,829
Re: GC 137 News/Tranfer Discussions/Match Reports Manchester City Update: English Shield Round 2-Man City 4 Exeter 0 Man City eased into the 3rd round with a convincing home victory against the South West minnows. Two goals from new boy Wesle and strikes from Balotelli and Gareth barry putting Man City into a third round tie with the Baggies of West Brom at the Hawthorns. League matchday 4- Man City 2 Liverpool 0 Man City took the excellent scalp of Liverpool with a professional and polished display at the City Of Manchester Stadium. The introduction of Emmanuel Adebayor proved the decisive moment as his introduction terrorised the Reds defence and his brace ensured a vital 3points for the Blue half of Manchester. SMFA Shield Round 1 Leg 2-Man City 2 gremio 0 (AGG 2-1) Man city secured there 3rd home win in the space of 5days overturning a first leg defecit to knock out the boys from Brazil. The younger lads were given there opportunity and did not dissapoint as goals from Wilshere and Wesley put Man City through to face crack Potugeuse outft Sporting Lisbon in Round 2. League Matchday 5- Arsenal 2 Man City 2 Man City travelled to the Emirates for what is always one of th toughest encounters of the season and left with a highly credible and deserved point. Wright-Phillips fired Man City ahead before Arsenal roared back with 2goals in a minute, however an early strike in the 2nd half from playmaker David Silva ensured City went home with a share of the spoils. City currently sit 4th in the League with 10points after 5games a pleasing enough start especially with the fixtures we have encountered so far and hopefully bodes well for future games.
