How to beat 4-2-4?

Recommended Posts

There is a guy in my league who's using 4-2-4 formation and is unbeaten in 35 matches.

This is his team style:

Tackling Style: Normal

Mentality: Attacking

Passing Style: Mixed

Attacking Style: Mixed

Tempo: Normal

Pressing: Own Half

Counter-Attack: No

Men Behind Ball: No

Tight Marking: Yes

Play Offside: No

Use Play Maker: No

Use Target Man: No

Also his average first XI rating is 89.

So the question is how to beat his tactic?

Thanks in advance,

Bojan

Yes, his formation and tactic are consistent

This is how his first eleven look like

------------------Schwarzer(90)---------------------

Pantsil(88) - Hughes(88) - Hangeland(89) - Maxwell (91)

-----------------Pirlo(94) - Altintop(90)----------------

Govou(91) - Marin(90) - Nilmar(90) - Trochowski(91)

And this is my squad

------------------Cesar(95)--------------------

Ramos(94) - Pepe(93) - Samuel(93) - Chiellini(94)

Iniest(96) - De Rossi(94) - Fabregas(95) - Robben(94)

-------------Higuain(94) - Arshavin(94)--------------

I also got: De Gea, Albiol, Vermaelen, Balloteli, Hernandez and bunch of kids like Munian, Wilshere (all rated around 85)

Re: How to beat 4-2-4?

Also he was beaten few times.

Once at home, against Bolton(87) who used 442. One of his players was injured and Bolton won 2:0

Away against Blackburn(87), once again 442 and one of the his players was injured.

So i'm guessing maybe hard tackling against them and to hope one of his players is injured? Even though I don't like hard tackling and I don't like injuring players, because I know how I feel when one of my players is injured.

Then he lost at home against Man Utd(92) who used 4222

Re: How to beat 4-2-4?

I would suggest playing either 4-2-3-1

---------------Cesar-------------------

Ramos----Pepe----Samuel---Chiellini----

---------Fabregas------De Rossi--------

Arshavin------Iniesta--------Robben----

------------Higuiain-------------------

Tackling Style : Hard

Mentality : Normal

Passing Style : Short

Attacking Style : Through the Middle

Tempo: Normal

Pressing: Own Half

The back four should be able to deal with the other teams attacking four given the far superior ratings however if you are not comfortable with that then maybe tick the box men behind the ball? The five man midfield should comfortably keep possession against their two but whilst you are attacking Arshavink, Iniesta and Robben will support your lone striker.

That's my own personal opinion and do not claim it is foolproof but that's how i'd do it :) Let me know how you get on and how you decided to play!

Re: How to beat 4-2-4?

i guess you are Chelsea ?

and there are probably few managers in this english game world right?

so since your squad is much higher,

i would recommand the excatly same formation and instruction as his.

of course you goal is to win, right?

so if it doesn't work in half time or 60 minutes, change into use hard tackling direct passing, fast pace, counter attack and tight marking, attacking mentality

use 433 in 75 min if still don't work

always works, don't bother to find a "magic" tactic

Btw. Richarddi, I'm Arsenal and yes, game world isn't very competitive :)[/quote']

Re: How to beat 4-2-4?

I usually play with a 4.5.1 formation against a 4.2.4 and i have more positive results than bad.

------------------Cesar(95)--------------------

Ramos(94) - Pepe(93) - Samuel(93) - Chiellini(94)

Arshavin(94) - De Rossi(94) - Fabregas(95) - Robben(94)

------------------Iniest(96)--------------------

-----------------Higuain(94) -------------------

With:

Tackling Style : Normal

Mentality : Normal

Passing Style : Short

Attacking Style : Through the Middle

Tempo: Fast

Pressing: Own Half

Counter-Attack: Yes

Men Behind Ball: No

Tight Marking: Yes

Play Offside: No

Use Play Maker: No

Use Target Man: Yes

That works for me, so maybe for you too ;)

Re: How to beat 4-2-4?

Hey guys, I played against Fulham using the tactics dazinho told me to use, with few changes. Chiellini, Robben and Higuain were injured, so Vermaelen Wilshere and Balotelli were in the first XI and also I sold Pepe and got Lahm now.

So the team looked like this:

---------------Cesar-------------------

Ramos----Vermaelen----Samuel---Lahm----

---------Fabregas------De Rossi--------

Balotelli------Iniesta--------Wilshere----

------------Arshavin-------------------

Tackling Style: Normal

Mentality: Normal

Passing Style: Short

Attacking Style: Through the Middle

Tempo: Normal

Pressing: Own Half

Counter-Attack: Yes

Men Behind Ball: No

Tight Marking: Yes

Play Offside: Yes

Use Play Maker: Yes

Use Target Man: Yes

Captain: J. CESAR

Penalty Taker: P. LAHM

Corner Taker: C. FABREGAS

Free Kicks: C. FABREGAS

Play Maker: A. INIESTA

Target Man: A. ARSHAVIN

Fulham used their standard tactics, 4-2-4 and their team looked like this:

------------------Schwarzer(90)-------------------

Altintop ------- Hughes --- Baird ------- Maxwell

-----------------Pirlo ---- Perotti-------------------

Trochowski ---- Govou ----Nilmar ---- Duff

Tackling Style: Normal

Mentality: Attacking

Passing Style: Mixed

Attacking Style: Mixed

Tempo: Normal

Pressing: Own Half

Counter-Attack: No

Men Behind Ball: No

Tight Marking: Yes

Play Offside: No

Use Play Maker: No

Use Target Man: No

Captain: H. NILMAR

Penalty Taker: D. DUFF

Corner Taker: S. GOVOU

Free Kicks: P. TROCHOWSKI

Play Maker: D. PEROTTI

Target Man: A. PIRLO

In the end I won 4:0 with these statistics:

Fulham Arsenal

37% Possession 63%

19 Total Shots 8

8 Shots On Target 7

4 Corners 4

0 Yellow Cards 1

0 Red Cards 0

So it's obvious that possession is what won me the match.

I just want to thank you guys helping me to beat them especially dazinho who gave me the winning tactic :)

Cheers,

Bojan :)
