Manchester United Football Club is delighted to announce that Ahmad Shahir has agreed to become our new manager.

He has signed a three year contract and will start on 24 September, 2010.

Shahir was the outstanding candidate for the job. He has proved over a long period his ability to build teams that challenged for, and has been successful in, major domestic and European competitions.

He also had a highly successful playing career in those competitions and therefore brings unparalleled all round experience to the job.

We are sure everybody at Manchester will give him a warm welcome and we are all looking forward to working with him.

Target:

1)Find a good replacement for Scholes and Van Der Sar

2)Win the title

Yoann Gourcuff To Manchester United

France international Yoann Gourcuff has completed his move to Manchester United from Lyon and said he was aiming for greatness with his new club.

Gourcuff signed a five-year contract after passing a medical, Manchester United new coach Ahmad Shahir confirmed at a news conference.

The 24-year-old, who moves for a fee of €8 million + Carrick, could play his first EPL match for United against Blackpool.

“I hope to keep improving, to work well and blend in with the team and the coach's plans,” Gourcuff said in Manchester. “We have a quality squad. I hope we will achieve great things and win titles.”

Gourcuff was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year in 2009 but was blamed for Bordeaux's poor run of form at the end of last season which saw them finish sixth and miss out on a place in Europe.

“Yoann has exactly the profile we were looking for,” Manchester United coach Ahmad Shahir told a news conference. “I hope he can help us reach another level.”
