SMH's Previews -Turn 20:

Wycombe Wanderers 3 - 1 Dagenham & Redbridge

Dagenham have no wins in last 6 although 4 of them were draw seem unable to carck out a win,Wycombes form is sparkling they should win.

Tranmere Rovers 2 - 0 Shorpe United

7 players missing between the sides, with 6 being injured, Shorpe lack the depth to cope with such plagues and they have yet to win in 6 attempts against Tranmere so an easy home win.

Northampton Town 1 - 1 Rotherham United

Both teams are in great form losing only one of last 6 so this should be close, too close so I will call a draw.

Shrewsbury Town 4 - 2 Bristol Rovers

New manager at Bristol Rovers suffered a narrow defeat in his first game against Tranmere and with Shrewsburys good form you can see them having to wait a bit longer for that first win.

Brighton and Hove Albion 6 - 1 Colchester United

The colchester manager jumped ship when they hit bottom of the league, this should be an easy 3 points for B&H against the unmanaged side.

Leyton Orient 2 - 0 Brentford

Leyton v Brentford a game definitely for the purists both teams have hit bad form but I feel the 3 points will go to the home team and be helpful in thir efforts to stay off the wooden spoon place.

Southampton 1 - 0 AFC Bournemouth

Run away leaders Southampton will have nothing to fear from Bournemouth as definetly look to good for this division, Bournemouth are decent so could make the plaoffs this season.

Burton Albion 3 - 0 Swindon Town

Burton are cruising at the minute and their form should be enough to guide them past struggling Swindon.

Southend United 2 - 0 Accrington Stanley

Stanley are 5 games without a win so will not be looking forward to the prospect of playing Southend who are hard to beat only losing one of last six and are chasing that auto promotion spot.

Chesterfield 1 - 3 Gillingham

Chesterfield have not won in 6 and that wont be changing here, gillingham for the 3 points.

SMH's Previews -Turn 21:

Division 1

LIVERPOOL 2 - 0 Queens Park Rangers

QPR have moved off the bottom they have won 2 and drawn 1 in their last 3 games so will be hoping they can do better than they did in the reverse fixture which saw them slump to a 2-0 defeat.Liverpool are unbeaten in last 4 games and look up for this game as a win could put them in the top 10 for first time in a while.Liverpool to win be a couple.

Leeds United 2 - 2 Huddersfield Town

Leeds have drew their last 3 games but have won the last 2 head to heads with Huddersfield comfortably, Huddersfeiled are paddling away but I think they will be happy with a share of the spoils.

Bristol City 2 - 3 Norwich City

Bristol have only won once in last 6 games but have the leagues top marksman in the shape of Keissling so have the amunition, Norwich have only lost one of last 6 games and are enjoying a wee purple patch under Rob, this is like a 6 pointer so I expect Norwich to fight hard and gain a win.

Arsenal 1 - 1 Bolton Wanderers

Bolton's Hazard misses the game, Mattieu,Kompany & Gourcuff miss for Arsenal.Arsenal have the better side by far but the manager is struggling to get the best out of his players, Bolton got there first win under new management last time and will be hoping for back to back wins but I think a draw is the likely outcome.

Milton Keynes Dons 1 - 3 Manchester City

Mk Dons are just above the relegation zone as they have been very inconcistent, Man City have lost only 1 of last 6 and have never lost to MK so they should take this 3 points courtesy of a Messi wondershow.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 - 2 Sheffield United

Both clubs are flying high but Sheffield have hit a sticky patch with no wins in last 4 games, the 3 previous meetings between the sides have all been draws so that is the logical choice of outcome.

Middlesbrough 0 - 3 Manchester United

Man United have stuttered last 2 games but maybe SOP was just trying to let the other teams catch up a bit, Boro seem to be out of their dip but will have to muster a performance which they have not yet managed against Man United to get a win as their head to head battles with Man United read as drew 1 lost 4.Easy 3 points for Man United.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 4 Everton

Spurs are the form team of the league with 14 points from last 18 and they have won 4 lost 1 of 5 head to heads with Everton but I can see Everton bursting their bubble as everton won the reverse fixture 5-3 and Spurs are missing Arbeloa.Hoedes & Ginger Scholes, Shock away win in a high scoring game.

Chelsea 0 - 2 Fulham

Both teams have two wins/4 defeats from their respective last 6 games so are in the same poor form but Chelsea are rock bottom of the legaue so need the 3 points more, I dont think they will get them here though as I expect Fulham to win like they have done in the 2 previous games between the sides.

Match of the Day:

Nottingham Forest 3 - 0 Newcastle United

Great match up here between the 4th & 3rd placed sides, Forest have stuttered a bit but took the reverse fixture of this easily 2-0 they will be hoping that Newcastles win last time out was just a blip and they are still in freefall.Newcastle ended a miserable run with a win last time out against Chelsea but with Chelsea's poor form I doubt that counts for much.I see Forest doing the double over Newcastle with an easy 3 points, stealing 3rd place with the win..

Previous meetings:

13 Jul, 2011 League Newcastle United 1 - 0 Nottingham Forest

SMH's Views may offend.

SMH's Previews -Turn 22:

Division 1

Queens Park Rangers 0 - 2 Huddersfield Town

QPR are 9 points from safety so will have to start another wee run again soon but an easy win predicted here for the Huddersfield who are yet to lose against Qpr.

LIVERPOOL 3 - 1 Norwich City

Norwich won the reverse fixture of this 3-1 so will go into this game hoping to get some points to get out of that relegation zone,Liverpool are missing Thiago Silva & Mario Gomez but should still have enough to take care of Norwich.

Leeds United 1 - 2 Bolton Wanderers

Leeds seem to be in free fall with just 1 win in last 6 they are desperately close to the drop zone so need to get a grip, Bolton have been good under new management losing only 1 of six games in charge, I expect Bolton to make it 3 wins in a row with 3 points here.

Bristol City 0 - 2 Manchester City

Bristol are plodding away nicely but are inconsistent ,Man City are one of teh form teams of the league and after losing 8-2 to Bristol last season they have beat then twice since hitting 5 goals with no reply, Messi to strike the death blow in a City win.

Arsenal 1 - 1 Sheffield United

Arsenal have struggled the last 3 games I think due to the injuries of a few key players, Sheffield have struggled as well of late but got back to winning ways last game ,so this should be a pretty even game with my money on the draw or an odd goal away win, but I will call the draw.

Milton Keynes Dons 0 - 2 Manchester United

Mk Dons are struggling a bit and sit just above relegation they have yet to beat the Red Army but have drew 3 of the 5 head to heads with them, form team of league Man United got thereselves back on track after defeat to spurs and a draw with Wolves with a resounding win against Pensioners Boro, if there players are none the worse for the cup quarter they should win this by a couple.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1 - 1 Everton

Everton have won 4 of last 6 and are looking good for a top 10 finish at least, Wolves have failed to win in last 3 games but still sit in 2nd, the teams are even and there has been 4 draws in last 7 head to heads so a share of the spoils looks a good call.

Middlesbrough 0 - 0 Fulham

Boro and Fulham's form is terrible with Boro taking 5 poinst from last 6 games and Fulham mustering only 3 points from their last 6 games, the last two games have been 0-0 and with the form of this pair that seems like the likely result.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 3 Newcastle United

Spurs are in decent form bar that defeat to Everton last time out which is a total reverse of Newcastles form which is in truth relegation material, lucky t Toon have points on the board early in season.Even though they are out of form Newcastle have won 5 of last 6 head to heads so I will stick my neck out and say they will get a win here.

Nottingham Forest 3 - 1 Chelesea

Forest have moved up into 3rd place and have been in decent form all season, a thing that could hardly be said of Chelsea but Chelsea have started to get points on the board and have moved off bottom but their form reads LWLWLW so we all know what comes next.

SMH's Previews -Turn 22:

Division 2

Birmingham City 1 - 1 Plymouth Argyle

Early season relegation clash? Both team have bad form but Birmingn all over it.hams form in non existent, no wins in last 6 is worrying, Plymouth have mustered 2 wins in last 6 so are a bit better, This has draw writ

Burnley 2 - 1 West Ham United

Both teams are in good form but preference is for the home side given West Hams injury problems.

Carlisle United 3 - 2 Cardiff City

Carlisle are stacked with injuries[4 players out] but play a bang out of sorts Cardiff who just 1 win in last 6 and are bottom, Adebayor to score and help reverse the 3-2 reverse fixture result.

Blackburn Rovers 1 - 3 Charlton Athletic

Both teams have only lost 1 of last 6, Blackburn are chasing the play offs and Chartlton are chasing the top 2, even looking game but preference is for the away side as they have won last 2 head to heads.

Swansea City 1 - 2 Bury

Just 1 win between the pair in their last 6 games is not inspiring, Bury have drew the last 5 of their games so my money is on them finding a win at last.

Sunderland 3 - 0 Wigan Athletic

Game of the day in division 2 between the 1st an 2nd placed sides, three wins each from teh 6 games played in the head to heads so you would think this is even but Sunderland have won the last two games in the head to head with a 8-1 combined winning margin, this couple with teh fact that they clearly have the better side makes this a banker home win.

West Bromwich Albion 2 - 3 Blackpool

9th & 10th both 9 points off play offs.Today is a big game for both sides with the teams bang in form, just 1 defeat in last 6 games for each side.Blackpool are yet to lose to West Brom so I call them for the win.

Watford 1 - 2 Preston North End

Both teams find themselves at the wrong end of the table, only 3 points seperate the sides so a win here could be crucial, Watford seem out of sorts and Preston are stringing together some decent results so favor would have to go to the away side to get the 3 points.

Coventry City 0 - 3 Doncaster Rovers

Coventry are deep in the mire and have not won a game in last 6, Doncaster on the other hand are cruising with 4 wins on the bounce, 3 points to the away side look a no-brainer.

Stoke City 2 - 0 Rochdale

New manager in at Stoke cant do any worse than the last manger with form as they have only won 1 of last 6 ut that is still better than the Dale who havent won any of their last 6, Stoke have the much better side so that just tips it for me .

Wycombe Wanderers Tranmere Rovers

Southampton - Colchester United

runaway leaders Southampton who are still unbeaten in the league, winning their last 6 on the trot, play basement boys Colchester in the most one sided match of the week. Colchester actually have the best record in their previous meeting including a 7-1 win against the Saints but this result could even be bettered this time around but in reverse.........prediction 5-0

Burton Albion - Brentford

8th placed Burton play 19th placed Brentford looking to pick up all 3 points to make a push for the top 6 knowing that their biggest defeat ever (10-2) was at the hands of the Bees. with Brentford losing 5 of their last 6 compared to the home side losing only 2 the points should go with the hosts.........prediction 3-0

Gillingham - Accrington Stanley

7th play 12th in a game the home side will be despearate to win in their push for a top 6 finish. History however, is on the side of the away team as they have won 5 of their last 6 meetings with the other game being drawn............prediction 2-2

English Shield Predictions

Everton - Carlisle United

Division 1 Everton host 2nd Division high flyers Carlisle United who are unbeaten in their last 7 games. Everton have had a poor run lately with 10 defeats in their last 18 games, and find themselves sitting in 15 position. this has all the makings of a possible cup shock meaning the semi-finals could be without a single Division 1 club........prediction 1-2

Huddersfield Town - Walsall

1st division Huddersfield welcome 3rd division strugglers Walsall for tonights quarter-final at the Galpharm Stadium. Walsall have 5 wins and 5 defeats in their last 10 games and the home look to be too strong on paper for any upset here and fielding a strong side should see them progress to the semi-finals, but this is a one off cup game so anything could happen.........prediction 3-0

Southend United - Colchester United

the battle of the Division 4 sides sees on form Southend welcome a struggling Colchester side. Southend have only been beaten once in their last 6 matches compared to the visitors who have lost 5 and drawn 1 over the same period. in the head to head Southend have won 5 of the last 6 meetings and this encounter should prove to be more of the same.........prediction 3-0

West Ham United - Brentford

2nd Division West Ham play 4th Division strugglers Brentford who have lost 8 of their last 10 matches. the Hammers, who themselves have lost 4 of their last 10, are still only one place away from the play-offs and should be far too strong for any kind of upset here. the sides have already met this season in the English Cup in a match that West Ham won 4-0 and the scoreline in this tie doesn't really look to get any closer...........prediction 5-0

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

SMH's Views may offend.

SMH's Previews -Turn 24:

Division 1

Norwich City 1 - 0 Nottingham Forest

Forest are 5 points off second place but just 4 points above 9th place so their early seasons work can start to become undone with a a few bad results so they will be hoping to beat early season relegation favourites Norwich who are performing quite well to keep their head above the drop zone but with Chelsea,QPR & Bolton starting to get results they will be aware that continued points are needed, the reverse fixture ended in a draw but I can see Norwich sneaking a win here as Forest are a bit out of sorts.

Bolton Wanderers 1 - 2 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield sit 10 points above Bolton who occupy the 3rd bottom relegation slot so will be wanting a win here that could virtually help safeguard their safety for this season, Bolton are no wins in last 3 and struggling I predict the Terriers to do the double over Bolton this season for the first time ever with an away win.

Manchester City 2 - 0 Queens Park Rangers

QPR have done much better of late and are now only 9 points from safety,Safety something which looked an undoable task not to long ago might just actually happen but I doubt it will get any farther forward today as they take on the mighty Man cIty who are up in 2nd place in the league and are the form team of the whole league winning their last 5 games on the bounce, City to win and make a push for the title?

Sheffield United 3 - 3 LIVERPOOL

Liverpool have only lost 1 of their last 6 games and that was last time out against a very in form Man City but Liverpool have lost to Sheffield United the only 3 times they have played them, a trend Elton will be hoping continues as his side are stuttering with just 1 win in last 6 games, I want to tip a Liverpool win for obvious reasons but I have a feeling Sheffield will definitely get something from the game, with then drawing the last two maybe a 3rd draw in a row is on the cards.

Manchester United 4 - 1 Leeds United

Man United have only lost 1 of last 6 games but they have drew 3 of them so have let the chasing pack bunch up a bit behind, they have the better of the head to heads but Leeds will be hoping they can get a draw or win like they have done in the past, I am not a fan of the 6 arrows formation of Leeds and I think it will be beaten today and leave Leeds Premier future still in the balance.

Everton 2 - 3 Bristol City

Everton are just 8 points clear of the drop zone but have won their last two games on the bounce so will be hoping for another one here to help creep them closer to the top than the bottom, Bristol are on course to finish top 10 the same as they did last season, they have a win and a draw in the last two meetings between the sides and I think they will win this one as well with League top scorer Keissling netting the winner.

Fulham 1 - 1 Arsenal

Fulham have a great record head to head against Arseal but their form is terrible at the minute so that will give Arseanl hope, but Arseanl are in no great form themselves with just one win in last 6 so I can see this game being a draw.

Newcastle United 3 - 0 Milton Keynes Dons

Mk Dons have only lost 1 of last 6 and that form has saw them put a 7 point gap between themselves and the drop zone which I am sure will please the manager but I can see Newcastle adding another win here to there good head to head stats between the sides, the Toon hit a bad patch but seem to have come out of it with back to back wins and are only 6 points off top so have plenty of time to still challenge for the title.

Chelsea 2 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Chesleas run of 4 wins in a row was ended last game against Boro but their wins have helped give them hope that they could get themselves above water to safety but they face another Candian in Wolves boss Kylan whos side are high flying up in 3rd place but their form has hit the skids with just 1 win in last 6 so I predict the Chelsea boss to reap 3 points and revenge for the 2-0 reverse fixture defeat earlier in the season.

Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 5 Middlesbrough

Both teams are in decent form in last 6 games and the head to head stats between the sides are pretty even which would make me think to predict a draw but with Ibra,Bale & Scholes missing for Spurs I can see Spurs suffering a heavy defeat to the number 1 manager in the set up.

Division 4 Predictions

Northampton Town - Dagenham & Redbridge

It's 2nd verses 14th in a battle between 2 teams getting back to form after a few defeats. the home will will be looking for maximum points to stay ahead of Brighton and Dagenham will be seeking the points to continue their rise up the table.......prediction 2-2

Shrewsbury Town - Tranmere Rovers

5th play 6th in a play-off zone 6 pointer with the visitors looking to put an end to their recent dismal run. Shrewsbury have shown the better form over the last 6 weeks and will be favourite for the win.........prediction 3-1

Brighton - Wycombe Wanderers

3rd place Brighton welcome 9th placed Wycombe after losing their first game under their new Manager last week and will be working overtime to get back on the road to the magical 2nd place. Wanderers are sitting only 7 points from the top 6 and will be chasing all three points themselves.......prediction 3-0

Leyton Orient - Shorpe United

17th Orient welcome 12th placed Scunny for a real battle for points at the Matchroom Stadium. the visitors took all 3 points against high flyers Brighton last week and will look to capitalize on that result. Orient will no doubt have been given a boost with the news that the much sought after Maher has signed an extension to his contract and this could help them get back on track..........prediction 2-2

Southampton - Rotherham United

Champions elect Southampton welcome 10th placed Rotherham who have climbed into the top 10 after winning 2 of their last 3 games. the home side are still unbeaten but talks of and unbeaten invicibles title win have been banned around the Stadium as the Saints go quietly about their business........prediction 3-0

Burton Albion - Bristol Rovers

7th placed Burton who are just 2 points away from the play-off places welcome a Rovers side who have fallen to unsatisfactory 13th position following a brave 3-2 defeat to Leaders Southampton last week. both teams are desperate for the win for different reasons and this will be very tight.........prediction 1-0

Southend United - Colchester United

4th Placed Swindon welcome the basement boys for which they will hope is a goal fest in their chase for automatic promotion. Colchester have lost 6 on the trot and Manager Stephen Reilly will be praying that lucky number 7 will be his new favourite number..........prediction 3-0

Chesterfield - Brentford

18th welcome 19th and with only 2 points seperating the teams, this is a must win for both Managers. the home side have lost 4 of their last 6 while the visitors have lost 5 and this could may well be a 'first goal is the winner' situation...........prediction 0-0

Gillingham - AFC Bournemouth

8th welcome 11th in a vital match with only 5 points separating the teams as we enter the 2nd half of the season. both Managers will be looking to push for the top 6 with a victory here and that will lead to a very tight match...........prediction 2-1

Accrington Stanley - Swindon Town

16th play 15th in another bottom zone must win match. Swindon have by far the better recent form and will no doubt be looking to extend the gap between both clubs. the home side have lost their last 2 and will be hoping for a win to leapfrog their opponents in the league.........prediction 1-2

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

SMH's Views may offend.

SMH's Previews -Turn 28:

Division 1

Bolton Wanderers 0 - 2 Manchester City

Bolton are starting to get adrift of the safety zone so will need more results like the one they got last time out they have nver lost to Man City but to be honest I think that will end today as Man city are in sparkling form.

Norwich City 1 - 3 Sheffield United

Norwich are still above the relegation zone but Chelsea are now hot on their heels they lost 3-0 to Sheffield United in the reverse fixture and I can see a repeat of that happening today with top 4 chasing Sheffield looking much the better side.

Huddersfield Town 0 - 3 Manchester United

Huddersfield are in sparkling form sitting in 12th in the league and are in a cup final which is no mean feat but Man United look just too good for them and I can see they winning by a few as Huddersfield have a bad record against the top sides.

Queens Park Rangers 2 - 2 Everton

Everton are missing a couple of players so this will be tight with no wins in last 4 for them and QPR enjoying a decent spell of results that has saw them climb in points to have a plausible chance of safety now, I think it will end all square.

LIVERPOOL 2 - 3 Fulham

Both teams are putting together a couple of wins and with Liverpool missing Thiago Silva,Ribery & Marcelo Fulham have a good chance of avenging the 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture, I would say Liverpool need the points more but a Fulham win is more likely.

Leeds United 1 - 1 Newcastle United

Newcastles injuries are piling up so there might not be a better time for them to get a win over Newcastle today , something they have not done in the last 4 games between the sides, without the injuries you would say Newcastle wre a shoe-in for the win but I can see a draw happening which will please the Leeds boss as they battle to stay above the drop zone.

Bristol City 1 - 2 Chelsea

Both these teams ahve been picking up decent points of late, this could define whether or not Bristol get pulled into the relegation dogfight as Chelsea are just 6 points behind them. The games between the sides are usually close but I just see Chelsea winning this one to avenge the 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.

Arsenal 2 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are a bit out of sorts and a resurgent Arsenal will be a tough tie for them, Arsenal are gaining a fine run of results a lot of that is due to the fine form of Ronaldo who has bagged 14 goals and 11 assists this season, I can see him adding to that tally today in an Arsenal win.

Milton Keynes Dons 0 - 1 Middlesbrough

Mk Dons are just 5 points above the safety net and will not be relishing playing Boro, they have had results against them before but have not won in last 3 games against them scoring less than a goal a game, Boro have a couple of players missing but I can see them winning this by the odd goal.

Nottingham Forest 2 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

None of these teams are in the greatest form with 2 wins in last 6 for Forest and just 1 win in last 6 for Wolves yet both these teams are battling it out for 4th place, Forest have won the only 3 meetings between the sides and I can't see that changing here.

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

Cardiff City - Charlton Athletic.

Charlton come into this one in poor form.Three defeats in their last four games has seen them drop out the automatic promotion places and will be desperate for the win.

Cardiff are having a difficult season but are on a decent run of form since conceding five at Burnley they have won two and drawn two.

Prediction 1-1

West Ham United - Bury

West Ham come into this one on the back of a three game unbeaten run,and will be looking to make it four. With Cardozo and Sturridge up front they will be the pair West Ham look to for inspiration.

Bury are on a great unbeaten run of their own making it eleven without defeat with a draw against Plymouth last time out. They need to start turning some draws into wins and i think they will start here.

Prediction 1-3

Plymouth Argyle - Wigan Athletic

Since Plymouth lost six league games in a row, they have picked up some decent wins to stop them dropping into the relegation area.Three wins in their last five has seen them settle just below mid table.

Wigan are having a fantastic season so far, though have been a bit nervy with three defeats in their last five.Cant see anything other than an away win here.

Prediction 0-2

Birmingham City - Blackpool

Birmingham are having an awful time at the moment with five defeats in six games.Rooted firmly to the bottom of the league, they will need to start winning soon if they are to avoid relegation.

This game looks like a classic relegation six-pointer.

Blackpool have problems of their own, with the last win coming eight games ago against Watford.

Both teams desperate for the points and a Blackpool win could really put a nail in Birminghams coffin.

Prediction 1-2

Burnley - Preston North End

Burnley go into this game sitting third, having a great season so far, they too have stuttered in recent games seeing them lose two and draw one of their last three. Will be looking for a win to put the pressure on the top two,and with Doumbia their main threat will be looking to him for the goals.

PNE are another decent team underachieving this season, and they see themselves sitting just outside the relegation places. If results go against them tonight then they could find themselves in the dropzone. Some decent form lately has lifted spirits and they could provide an upset.

Prediction 1-2

Carlisle United - Doncaster Rovers

Carlisle sit fifth at the moment and like the rest of the top six have struggled to put a run of wins together, last time out losing 4-1 to PNE. Adebayor is the main threat with a huge 27 goals in the league already he will be the main threat.

Doncaster have play-off ambitions of there own,and will see this game a decent chance of breaking the top six with a win.Not on the best of form however with no wins in six.

Prediction 3-1

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

Blackburn Rovers - Rochdale

Blackburn come into this on a mini unbeaten run of four games. Two wins and two draws see them just sitting outside the promotion places. Not the strongest of squads the manager has made them hard to beat.

Rochdale sit third in the form table after a dreadful run of no wins in eight, they have really turned it around in the last six games with only one defeat. The manager will be hoping that the bad run is out the way and they are only a couple of wins away from the playoffs.

Prediction 1-2

Swansea City - Coventry City

Swansea are on a fantastic run and are unbeaten in seven games.Since losing to Charlton they have picked up 17 points out of 21.This has put them just outside the playoffs and they will certainly fancy there chances of a gatecrash.

Coventry have been poor this season apart from two periods where they won three on the bounce the rest has been littered with defeats and draws.

Will need to start a run if they are to avoid relegation.

Prediction 3-1

Sunderland - Watford

Sunderland should be by all accounts be romping this division with the squad at their desposal, but with only two wins in six they seem to suffer the same problem as the rest of the top six in failing to put a run together.

Watford desperately need to carry on their form of the last two games to boost themselves up the table. Can smell an upset.

Prediction 1-3

Stoke City - West Bromwich Albion

Stoke come into this game managerless and need to watch they dont get sucked into the relegation battle.

WBA after some decent form have lost there last two and will be hoping the curse of the managerless team doesn't haunt them.

Prediction 0-3

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

Division 4 previews

Brighton - Dagenham & Redbridge

7th placed Brighton, who have had a turbulent month falling 4 places in the process, find themselves out of the top six and need to take all three points to get themselves back into contention for promotion. Dgenham on the other hand are languishing down in 17th place, have lost their last 4 on the spin and will be looking to get their season back on track.........prediction 2-0

Leyton Orient - Shrewsbury Town

After a great start under new Manager Geoffrey, Orient are in free fall after losing their last 6 matches on the trot, and find themselves 2nd bottom of the set-up. Shrewsbury on the other hand are flying high in 3rd place and will be looking for maximum points to keep their 6 match unbeaton run going.........prediction 0-3

Southampton - Northampton Town

its 1st against 2nd in the game of the day at St Mary's. the hosts, who have been beaten just once in the league all season, are 20 points ahead of the visitors and are back to winning ways after the shock defeat at the hands of Rotherham. Northampton are just 3 points clear of third placed Shrewsbury and will be looking to ****** a fine away win to keep them in the automatic play off places..........prediction 2-0

Burton Albion - Tranmere Rovers

Its 5th verses 6th in a real 6 pointer at the Pirelli stadium. Burton have shown the best recent form with 5 wins in their last 6 games and they may just be too strong for the visitors who have lost 3 times in their last 6, Tranmere have won their last 2 meetings though so are more than capable of the win..........prediction 3-1

Southend United - Wycombe Wanderers

4th placed Southend welcome 13th placed Wycombe, but despite the gap in the league, a win for the visitors would leave them only 6 points behind their hosts. Southend have shown the better recent form with only 1 defeat in their last 6 and should be too strong for the visitors who have lost their last 2 games.........prediction 2-0

Chesterfield - Shorpe United

16th placed Chesterfield welcome 14th placed Shorpe in the clash of the indifferents at the B2net stadium. the hosts have a slightly better record in the head to head and they will be looking to continue that form as they lookfor the points to point them in the direction of the top ten...........prediction 2-2

Gillingham - Rotherham United

8th placed Gillingham welcome 11th placed Rotherham who are the only side to have beaten the league leaders Southampton this season. the hosts have lost only once in their last 6 and are pushing for a place in the playoff positions while the visitors have lost 2 and drawn 2. this will be a tight match between 2 sides desperate for all three points and may be too close to call.........prediction 2-2

Accrington Stanley - Bristol Rovers

12th placed Stanley welcome 10th placed Rovers in a match that both teams really need to win to keep their seasons going. both teams have under acheived and their managers will be scratching their heads at their current league positions. the head to head shows 3 wins from 3 for the home side with them scoring 11 goals in the process with Rovers scoring only once.............prediction 3-0

Swindon Town - Colchester United

Swindon town, sitting in 15th position play host to the Basement boys in a must win match at the county ground for Manager's pride. a win for either side won't change their league position any but it could give either side a bit of confidence to string a few results together..........prediction 0-0

AFC Bournemouth - Brentford

9th play 18th in a match which means far more to the homeside than the visitors who will have to put this season behind them and regroup for the new campaign. the home side are only 6 points off the playoffs and will se this as the perfect opportunity to put the pressure on the sides sitting above them in the league. the head to head shows a win and a draw each but this time around the home side just look far too strong............prediction 4-0

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

The Championship

(predictions lite)

Turn 29 – Weekend Games – 23-06-12

Charlton.png Charlton Athletic - Stoke City Stoke.png

Charlton are flying again this season and will be hoping to keep this good run going. Some injuries will cause them some problems here though.

Stoke have performed ok so far but will need to improve if they want anything from this game, or this season.

Looking at the sides Stoke look stronger, but considering form and I think Charlton will win this one.

Charlton Athletic 1 – 0 Stoke City

Bury.png Bury - Cardiff City Cardiff.png

Bury look like a solid outfit and although not very well situated in the league are unbeaten in recent weeks. The squad is fully fit ahead of this game.

I had expected far more from Cardiff this season as they aren’t a bad side, but they sit last at the minute and time is running out for them. They will have players missing for this game to make things that little bit harder.

I can’t see past Bury for this game.

Bury 2 – 0 Cardiff City

Wigan.png Wigan Athletic - West Ham United WestHam.png

Amazingly Wigan still sit first in the league despite losing four of their last 6 matches. It’s a strong side however and they look like solid promotion candidates despite their poor form.

West Ham’s well-travelled manager has hit a rough patch lately but they are still in with play-off hopes. Injuries here may cause them more problems.

Two of the league’s better sides meet here with not much between them, a draw seems most likely.

Wigan Athletic 2 – 2 West Ham United

Blackpool - Plymouth Argyle

Its been a terrible run for Blackpool of late but with the side fully fir they stand a chance of getting something here.

Plymouth have been performing ok recently and with a strong side will be hopeful of climbing the table to recent no hopers Blackpool here.

Plymouth really should win this on recent form but I can’t rule out Pool’ completely.

Blackpool 1 - 2 Plymouth Argyle

PNE.png Preston North End - Birmingham City Birmingham.png

Preston’s busy manager still has a few areas to strengthen and they are performing well below expected levels so far this season. Suspensions will weaken them further here.

Despite possessing one of the strongest sides in the league Birmingham have been rubbish this season and look likely for the drop. They will only have themselves to blame should it happen though.

Struggling Preston should be able to find some relief here and win in comfort.

Preston North End 2 – 0 Birmingham City

Doncaster Rovers - Burnley

Rovers have been very poor of late and will need to be much better to have any hopes here. The side is fully fit however.

Burnley have over performed this season and are looking good, but have several players missing ahead of this game.

Rovers will struggle here and I don’t see them getting anything from this match.

Doncaster Rovers 0 – 2 Burnley

Rochdale.png Rochdale - CARLISLE UNITED Carlisle.png

Two old friends collide here in the Battle Of The Scouts.

Rochdale have been performing to a decent level so far this season but could do with more quality in the side if they want to push for Division 1. Some astute loan players will help here and a fully fit side.

Carlisle have been performing poorly this season and find themselves struggling. Arguably the second strongest team in the league, they have been hampered by an inept manager but are still in play-off hopes. Several key players missing will not help here either however.

Carlisle have been better in the league this season and have a far stronger side, so, as a result, I can only see this going one way. Rochdale win…

Rochdale 2 – 0 CARLISLE UNITED

Coventry.png Coventry City - Blackburn Rovers Blackburn.png

New manager Adam Devitt has inherited a strong squad and will be hoping to push on from here. He can’t do much worse than the last manger at least.

Blackburn look to have stabilised and have performed better than last season so the manager is going in the right direction at least. Some injuries won’t help here though and this will be a tough game.

Tough one to call this, so I won’t.

Coventry City 1 - 1 Blackburn Rovers

Watford-1.png Watford - Swansea City Swansea-1.png

Watford look like they have got their act together at the right time as they try to continue moving away from the drop zone. A few missing players will hamper them here though.

Swansea have looked good this season despite a few recent blips. Key players missing here may tip the balance away from them however.

Watford may just about pull another one out of the hat here but I’m reluctant to write Swansea off and will go for a draw.

Watford 2 - 2 Swansea City

West Bromwich Albion - Sunderland

The Baggies have struggled in recent weeks and find themselves slipping the wrong way again. They should get back on track soon however, but maybe not here.

Sunderland should be walking this league but can’t seem to get any consistent form going. Regardless its extremely strong squad, especially at this level, and will only improve.

I can’t see past Sunderland here and they should record a comfortable win here.

West Bromwich Albion 0 – 2 Sunderland

Note: As I’m limited to 15 images for 20 teams some have missed out on having their logo displayed... Its unfortunate, but so is my Mrs's face......

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

SMH's Views may offend.

SMH's Previews -Turn 30:

Division 1

Manchester City 2 - 3 Sheffield United

These two clubs sit 5th and 2nd and are having good season, Messi and Podolski have been the top players for the sides, Sheffield United are unbeaten against them in the 5 head to head games and have beat them the last twice, I see this trend continuing.

Bolton Wanderers 0 - 1 Manchester United

Bolton have 9 games left to find some form, they are 7 points off safety so need to get a run going pretty quick and they will not be looking to facing the league leaders although they have beat them twice in last 3 attempts as Man United have only lost back to back games once this season,Man United for 3 points here in an odd goal win.

Norwich City 0 - 2 Everton

Norwich are still surviving and have put a 5 point gap between themselves and the drop zone with a win last time out they beat Everton in the reverse fixture but they are on a wee run this time around and I can see Everton gaining revenge in this one and get the win that will just about assure them of safety.

Huddersfield Town 3 - 1 Fulham

Huddersfield can't buy a win or can they? Fulham are on a good run with 3 wins and a draw in last 4 league games buy Boy Wonder seems to struggle against the Terriers and have lost all the of the last three games against them, I will go with Forza Huddersfield to win this one with ease.

Queens Park Rangers 0 - 2 Newcastle United

There are 5 players missing between the sides but I think QPR will feel that more and with them losing there last 3 on the bounce it is starting to look like they are doomed to D2 next season,Newcastles form has tapered a bit but they are still only 3 points off second place and they have won the last two against QPR so an easy 3 points.

LIVERPOOL 1 - 1 Chelsea

Liverpool have picked up 7 points from their last 3 games to virtually guarentee their safety for the season, Chelsea will be hoping to get 3 points here so they can go about assuring their own safety in the division, currently 5 points adrift, their manager will know that the clock is ticking with just 9 games to go, there has never been more than a goal between the sides so it will be close so a share of the spoils is the prediction.

Leeds United 3 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs are out of sorts with just two wins in last 6 and they will struggle against an inform Leeds side who need just a win or two more to guarantee safety, a repeat of the 3-1 in the reverse fixture is the prediction.

Bristol City 2 - 4 Middlesbrough

Bristol City have won their last 3 games and will be happy with their 10th place, they face a Boro side who have lost the last 3 on the bounce but I predict Boro to get back on the winning trail with a victory here .

Arsenal 3 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

6th versus 4th .Both these team are hving a good season and this game looks rather open, Arsenal seem revitalised under new stewardship this season and are unbeaten in last six games, they won the reverse fixture of this and I can see them doing the double.

Nottingham Forest 0 - 2 Milton Keynes Dons

MK Dons have strung together some decent results [4 wins in last 6] to put themselves 10 points clear of the drop zone, another win or two and they will definitely be safe and I can see them getting 3 poits here over Forest whos form is in and out, Forest have lost the 3 head to heads between the sides and todays game will make it 4.

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

Championship predictions

Bury - Stoke City

Bury after a great run of form, actually a club record find themselves coming into this on the back of two defeats, although they were unlucky against Charlton. They will be looking to beat a still unmanaged Stoke.Key man will be Janko who will looking to add to his 7 league goals.

Stoke have huge problems with only 1 win in 9,a crazy 6-2 win over WBA.

Squad wise they are strong boasting the higest rated player in the division,Samaul Eto,but with only 6 goals you wouldn't think it

Hard to see anything but a Bury win

Prediction 3-1

Wigan Athletic - Charlton Athletic

Top of the table clash with the two teams having identical records over the last six games.Charlton look strong at the moment with Belhanda the standout player,he has 15 league goals and eight assists proving to their talisman as they look for promotion

Wigan are having a cracking season also, with a very strong squad can call on players such as Martinez, Badstuber,Criscito and Marin. On paper should win but i fancy a draw.

Prediction 2-2

Blackpool - Cardiff City

Blackpool have been unlucky recently, with their 3 previous draws they have edged possesion in all of them, but failed to turn them into wins.Josh has what it takes to turn it around and can see them making mid table but it needs to start here.

Cardiff are having a shocking season and have conceded a whopping 68 goals already, certainlt the reason for where they are.Despite this they are only 5 points from safety and still have time to turn it around.

Prediction 2-1

Preston North End - West Ham United

PNE have been playing fairly well recently but have failed to pull away from the relegation zone, only 2 defeats in 6 give them hope for mid table safety but need Glamour boy Reus to start scoring more often for this to happen, think they will be fine as there is a lot of quality in the side

West Ham are on a poor run with only 1 win in 6 although the 1 win was a 3-0 win over table topping Charlton. They still find themselves clinging onto 6th place but for how long.A host of clubs waiting to take there place in the playoff places.

Prediction 3-3

Doncaster Rovers - Plymouth Argyle

Doncaster come into this one on the back of a horrendous run of no wins in nine, yet still find themselves with a chance of making 6th place,Bar one 3-0 defeat they have been unlucky with most of their defeats being narrow.Need to start winning games ASAP.

Plymouth have got themselves a nice little squad together, and with five wins in their last eight games are one of the form teams in the league.A strong first 11 no reason why they cant push on for promotion.

Prediction 1-3

Rochdale - Birmingham City

Rochdale are suffering at the moment, form has been patchy but they possess the manager to turn it around.Just when they think they have turned the corner,a defeat sets them back.Only 5 points off the mix and a late charge could see them right up there.

Birmingham find themselves in no mans land at the moment and are 5 points from safety,a squad packed full of big names have failed to perform this season.2 wins in the last three games will give them hope of avoiding the drop however might be to late.

Prediction 2-2

Coventry City - Burnley

Coventry looked to have turned the corner with 4 wins in 5,but having lost the last game 4-1 are back to the drawing board.Looking at their squad its quality all the way through, another massively rated team at the wrong end of the table.

Burnley are another side at the top that are stuttering a bit, although two wins on the bounce has relieved some of the pressure, one of 5 teams that can win the league, they will be looking for a victim.

Prediction 2-1

Watford - Carlisle United

Watford are on a cracking run at the moment winning 4 out of the last 5,including a lovely win at Sunderland.Easily look to have enough to make mid table. Will be gutted the run didnt start earlier.

Carlisle have title hopes of their own and are certainly capable of taking the title.Have some monster players for this level including Phenom goalscorer Addebayor who hit 104 goals in just 130 games.

Prediction 2-5

West Bromwich Albion - Blackburn Rovers

West Brom will be looking for the win after no wins in 5,need the win to stop getting sucked into the relegation battle

A similar run for Blackburn has also seen no wins in 5,still have playoff ambitions themselves

Prediction 3-3

Sunderland - Swansea City

Sunderland suffer from the top six problem of putting wins together, they should be out of sight but remain 3rd

Swansea will fancy their chances ,sitting just outside the playoffs a couple of wins will change that

Prediction 2-3

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

SMH's Views may offend.

We are getting down to the business end of the season with just eight games left for play, mathematically everything is still up for grabs at the top and the bottom so if there was ever a time to hit a bad run of form now is definitely not it.

Will someone make a mad rush on SOP's title party?

Can the three basement bandits save themselves from the plight of division two football next season?

Will a team hovering just above the drop zone get pulled in to the relegation dogfight?

Who will get the SMFA Shield & Cup places?

All will become clear over the next 26 days.

SMH's Previews -Turn 31:

Division 1

Sheffield United 2 - 3 Nottingham Forest

Battle for top four places, 4th versus 6th with just a point seperating the sides, both teams are in similar form with 3 wins from last 6 games, the teams have played twice this season with a win each so it is a 50/50, I think Forest will edge the game with Iniesta being the key player.

Manchester United 4 - 1 Manchester City

Man City need to win here to stop Man United running away with the title, Man City have performed well above expected, Messi is the key reason with 15 goals & 14 assists but even though it was a draw in the reverse fixture, City have only beat Man United once and that was in the charity shield at the start of last season, Sop will as good as win the title today with an easy win.

Everton 0 - 1 Bolton Wanderers

Both these teams are not in the best of form,Everton just need 1 win to guarantee safety,Bolton need to go on a run for a chance of surviving, Bolton have not had many wins this season but they did win the reverse fixture so I am going to call them for the double in a low scoring game.

Fulham 5 - 0 Norwich City

Norwich have been performing well and are 7 points clear of the trap door but I can't see them getting anything from this as Boy Wonder has his Fulham boys in sparkling form and honestly I can see him making Norwich look like a pub team today just like he did in the 3-o win in the reverse fixture.

Newcastle United 1 - 1 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfields' form has disappeared just like Pierluigi Collina's hair, they will need to start finding some form soon as with just 8 games to go they are just 6 points above the trap door, but Newcastels' form is hardly any better with just 1 point more from last 6 games [4 points] they have already slipped to 8th and if they don't get a grip soon there will be no Europe next season, Newcastle are unbeaten in the 3 games against Huds and I expect that to continue with a share of the spoils here.

Chelsea 2 - 1 Queens Park Rangers

Oh My, How crucial will this game prove to be in the battle of the basement bandits? Just 3 points seperate the sides and both teams will know they need to get 3 points here as it is definitely squeaky bum time, Chelsea have the better team on paper but they have had that against a lot of sides this season to not much joy,QPR have been battling away and I myself thought they were relegated a while back but credit to the manager for getting down and grinding away, I do feel that Chelsea will win as long as they do not miss Dvid Silva too much but this could go either way.

Guest Starring Dom La Touche [boy Wonder] for a few predictions:

Tottenham Hotspur - Liverpool

This is a clash of two great teams but 2 vastly underperforming managers but despite the inept managers both teams are only 6 points away from the top 4 in a tight league. Tottenham are on a terrible run which has included a 3-0 loss to wolves and a shocking 4-0 loss to MK dons which has left fans calling for his head and he will have Adam out too. Liverpool on the other hand have finally shown why Dan Malone was second choice to the throne as he has finally got his team playing football worthy of anfield. The clash of the Goalkeepers with Neuer and Hart swapping round with Liverpool earning the better GK so people are talking which one will win the game for them. But liverpool are missing quality as Robben , Marcelo , Rooney , De Jong are all out and that is a massive chuck of there quality gone so I can see Spurs taking advantage but it wont be down to any manager genius for sure.

Prediction - Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 0 Liverpool

Middlesbourgh - Leeds United

Right im not wasting too much time here , I honestly think Middlesbourgh have sunk back so much they need a complete rebuild but while Jooles is the manager it isnt going to happen so very will struggle. As for today Boro have lost 5 on the bounce and are missing there marksmen in Diego milito but with the opposition only being Leeds united they will scrape a 1-1 draw

Prediction - Middlesbourgh 1 - 1 Leeds United

Wolves - Bristol city

These teams may not be the best in the division but both teams are very lucky too have 2 of the most outstanding young managers in the league with both punching well above there weight! Wolves on current form are doing very poorly with them only winning one in just 8 games and will need Lisandro to get them out of this slump but Bristol city are fairing better with 4 wins in 6 including wins over Chelsea , Tottenham and former champs Boro so they are in great form. I can see a good game with nothing to seperate the sides.

Prediction Wolves 2 - 2 Bristol city

MK Dons - Arsenal

These 2 sides are the most uninteresting in the league , I reckon MK dons will win this purely as they will set up in a counter attack style and sit back which Arsenal will not be able to cope with.

Prediction MK Dons 2 - 1 Arsenal

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

SMH's Views may offend.

SMH's Previews -Turn 33:

Division 1

Manchester United 2 - 4 Nottingham Forest

With Man United 9 points clear at the top with 6 games to go a win here would help them start to realise their ambitions as potential champions but I think Mo's Forest will have a spanner to throw in the works today, Forest have won 3 of the last 4 head to heads and I can see them adding another here with an easy win to push themselves back in the top 4.

Everton 2 - 1 Sheffield United

Sheffield United have got themsleves in to a bad run just at the wrong time, losing their last 4 on the bounce and their top 4 place to go with it, Everton have lost just one of last 5 and will be hoping to win here to push themselves up in to that top 10 and with the sides pretty even, I think Everton's better form will just be enough to get the points.

Fulham 2 - 0 Manchester City

Man City are up in 3rd place and still have a chance at winning the league albeit a very small one, they face a resurgent Fulham who have left there mid season slump behind them and are currently on an 11 match all competition unbeaten run, they have won the only 3 head to heads, the last two without reply so it looks like another 3 points for Boy Wonder in his quest for top 4.

Newcastle United 2 - 0 Bolton Wanderers

Bolton will have to start preparing for life in the Championship unless they go on a super last 6 game run but with no wins in their last 6 games that doesn't look likely, Newcastle are still in with a shout for a top 4 place but there form has been far too inconsistent to say they are a banker here buit I do think they will win.

Chelsea 0 - 1 Norwich City

Chelsea v Norwich what can I say? I wouldn't have been expecting to be describing this as a Relegation battle, Chelsea are 6 points off safety and are playing like they are already relegated, Norwich have played well above there station this season and deserve the 3 points that will put them one step closer to safety and maybe confine Chelsea to the Trapdoor.

Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 0 Huddersfield Town

Oh My, I wouldn't pay for a ticket to this game if it was free, the two worst form sides in the division with Spurs 1 point from last 6 games and Huddersfield 2 points from last 6 games, Huddersfield are only 4 poinst clear of the drop zone so will be hoping to get something from this to help preserve their Premier status but it will be a hard game agaist Spurs so I will call this as a draw, probably 0-0.

Middlesbrough 1 - 1 Queens Park Rangers

Boro have won their last two games to get themelves back in contention for a top 4 place, they face a QPR side who are not giving up saving themselves from the drop, they have fought their way back from the brink and are now only 4 points from safety, they have won their last 3 games so are in good heart I can see them taking a point here.

Wolves - Liverpool

Wolves and Liverpool are two outstanding teams for entirely different reasons, Wolves because of the exeperience and their smart Manager and Liverpool who have quality in buckets and are getting much better tactically which is scary for everyone else. I can see Liverpool bouncing back here purely because they are the better team at the moment

Prediction : Wolves 1 - 3 Liverpool

MK Dons - Leeds

Mk dons and Leeds are fighting in the relegation zone , Poor teams here on show and I cant really seperate them. Both got there full eleven out as well so a score draw will be the result.

Prediction - MK dons 1 - 1 Leeds

Arsenal - Bristol City

Arsenal are on title challengers form at last! They have been superb under the new manager , Play with a Vava voom and a swagger that only they can get. Bristol city on the hand are falling faster than Sop's IQ on a good day. Arsenal on current form should slaughter City but I see something in thise City side that can beat Arsenal.

Prediction - Arsenal 1 - 2 Bristol Cty

Shrewsbury v Brentford

2nd placed Shrewsbury need only to beat 2nd Bottom Brentford to clinch automatic promotion as they lead an on form Brighton by 2 points. this is a must win game for Manager John James as his side have an inferior goal difference to Brighton, so a draw could see them falling back down to 3rd, ending up in the lottery which is the play-offs. Brentford manager Martin Paul has only been in charge for 6 games and has already won 4 matches in that short time so he will be feeling that his side will still have a big say in what goes on at the top of this division. the head to head points to a home win for a side that has been transformed under James beyond recognition from the side that finished 15th last year. but if there ever a possible banana skin for any teams dreams of going up, this could be it. Brentford may just shock the whole Division...........prediction 2-2

Brighton v Bournemouth

On form Brighton welcome Bournemouth for the short visit to this must win match for the Seagulls. the home side have strung 4 wins in a row to get to 3rd place at this late stage while the visitors have lost their last 3.

the head to head shows Brighton are unbeaten in their previous meetings and should be too strong to let their form slip in this vital match, Quaresma, Verdu, and Matavz have 28 goals between them and are the reason for the huge goal difference advantage against the other teams around them and with all 3 players fit, the home support will be looking for goals, goals, goals.........prediction 4-0

Northampton v Colchester

4th placed Northampton looked to be in prime position for promotion before their defeat to Brentford last week and are now level on points with Brighton and 2 points behind Shrewsbury. the good news for the home side is that they play host to basement boys Colcjhester who's team are still trying to come to terms with life under a new Manager but who also have the fourth highest scorer in the league amoungst their ranks in Diego Costa. Northampton will be hoping that both teams above them slip up so that they can take advantage but they have found it difficult to beat Colchester in the past with 1 win each and 3 draws in their last 5 games, but they may just be too strong this time to let anyone down at this vital stage........prediction 2-0

SMH's Views may offend.

Previews 1st game of season

Division 1-Division 4

Division 1 game:

Man City -Huddersfield

One of the teams finished 2nd and the other finished 16th last season, yes definitely Freaky Friday stuff.

Will Pred be able to do what he failed to do last season and get 3 points from Huddersfield? With Messi and Higuain up front it sure is possible.

Huddersfield will be many managers club/club manager of the season, will they and their old men Totti & ADP be able to keep it up this season and produce the goods yet again?

Prediction : 2-3

Division 2 game:

Bury manager Neil always wanted to test himself out against the big boys well today he has his chance against fallen giant Newcastle, between them Carl and Neil have managed 528 games in the set up yet this is the first meeting of the sides.

Newcastle are by far the superior side on paper even missing the suspended Benzema but will the Toons form from D1 haunt him down in D2 or will he do a Mo and ping-pong straight back to the top flight at first time of asking?

Bury started very poor last season but came with a late rattle to nearly sneak the play-offs,can he put that right and get off to a flyer?

Prediction: 2-2

Division 3 game:

Barnsley -Birmingham

The match up of Stephens.Barnsley promoted from the 4th and Birmingham relegated from the 2nd .

350 + games managed between the 2 managers and its the first meeting between the pair, not much difference between the sides on paper, slight strength to Birmingham, will Stephen T continue in division 3 where he left off in division 4?

Or will Stephen H put behind him the nightmare season and show the division 3 boys he should be back in the 2nd?

Prediction: 2-1

Division 2 game:

Cardiff -Aldershot

Both teams were relegated to division 4 last season ,Aldershot you saw it coming but Cardiff! With that squad! No wonder rumours of match fixing have been circling manager Closey and his squad.

Cardiff are definite favourites for the division but will they hit it off right away or will they flounder like they did for most of last season?

Aldershot are under new management and the man at the helm Racky is a successful manager can he get Aldershot back to the lofty heights of the 3rd division or will they struggle in and stay in the 4th where many think they belong?

Prediction: 2-1

Big Game Predictions

Division One: Fulham vs Exeter

Stadium: Craven Cottage - Capacity: 26,600

Craven Cottage, where the magic happens.

Previous Result: None

Here we have new boys Exeter facing up against Latouches Fulham. Exeter have done well to fight their way up the leagues and to gain a position in the top league, but you must think they are out of their depth against a team full of stars like Fulham’s, but they certainly have grit so you can't rule them out straight away.

Fulham should be looking for all three points, whilst Exeter should be happy with a point.

One to watch, Pedro.

First goal scorer: HULK

Prediction: 4-1

Division Two: Yeovil Town vs Rochdale

Stadium: Huish Park - Capacity: 9,400

Huish Park, where the magic happens.

Previous Result: Rochdale 4 - 0 Yeovil Town

Here we have two old heads with two completely different styles of football pitting their wits together. Mr Malcolm likes his older folk or more experienced players shall I say, whilst Mr Mack likes to nurture young talent, but sure that’s not all he likes to do either *AHEM*. Will be a really interesting match that could really go either way.

Both teams will be looking for all three points.

One to watch, Altidore.

First goal scorer: DESTRO

Prediction: 2-2

Division Three: Millwall vs Northampton Town

Stadium: The New Den - Capacity: 20,146

The New Den, where the magic happens.

Previous Result: Northampton Town 1 - 2 Millwall

Here lies a game with great potential, both sides have failed to live up to expectation over the past few seasons. Millwall expected to go far early on, rather than falter in Division Three, whilst Northampton have grown dramatically in regards to their side but have failed to challenge on the pitch.

Both teams will be looking for all three points in this fixture.

One to watch, Chamakh.

First goal scorer: Belhanda

Prediction: 2-3

Division Four: Brentford vs Accrington Stanley

Stadium: Griffin Park - Capacity: 13,202

Griffin Park, where the magic happens.

Here lies the best of the bunch, two tactical know-how managers ready to give each other a headache. Both managers know their stuff on the drawing board and will do their best to oust each other, but the better squad goes to Mr Albert’s as from what can be seen at the moment is a youth squad at Stanley, but Mr Harman’s knows what he is doing and will certainly be playing to his sides strengths.

Accrington should be happy with a point whilst Brentford should really run away with all three.

One to watch, Cleverly.

First goal scorer: WAGNER

Prediction: 3-1

Previews 3rd game of season

Division 1-Division 4

Sheffield United -Middlesbrough

Relegation candidates Middlesboro visit top of the table Sheffield United, Eltons boys have started well with two wins from two and will be looking to take something from struggling Boro, they beat them in the reverse fixture last season so I am sure will be quietly confident of repeating that today.

Middlesbrough have one point and one goal from opening two fixtures but we should see a formation change for this one.A few injuries Klose & Moutinho (Sheff Wed) & Xavi (Boro).

Prediction 2-0

Bolton Wanderers -Rochdale

Early season Battle of the Bottom feeders, both teams are nil for two ,shipped in 11 goals between them, oh what a long season ahead I can see for this pair of managers,Rochdale it was half expected but Bolton have a half decent side, must be the manager.I can't see many goals being scored here but I can't see this pair keeping a clean sheet either. This has score draw written all over it.

Prediction 1-1

AFC Bournemouth-Swansea City

New boy to the division Harman(not sure what one as they seem to be breeding there way through the divisions!) Bournemouth face there toughest test yet after a draw and a win in opening fixtures they take on Swansea who are finally starting to perform well (only took a division drop again!,for this to happen),Swansea two straight wins on the bounce should have too much class and win this easy.

Prediction 0-5

Italy (Totti) v England (Paul Gibson) managers,Someone will be glad this can't go to penalties!

Both managers have made a bright start to the season winning both games, someone's 100% winning record will fall here and my money is on the Englishmans.

Prediction 3-1

Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread

EC7046 –Standout Games – 16-1-13

Boro.png Middlesbrough – Fulham Fulham.png

It’s been a difficult start to the season for Boro so far, the team are currently win-less and sit in 18th place. Added pressure has come in the form of being many pundits pick for relegation this season before a game was played, and so far those pundits look like they could be right. Middlesbrough supremo Jooles Dawson will have other ideas however and the experienced managed will be looking to get the side back to winning ways as soon as possible. A visit from arch-rivals Fulham probably wasn’t what the manager would want right now and defeat could spell disaster not only for bragging rights but to the team’s morale. Dawson will probably fancy his side’s chances though and if he can install that belief in stuttering side this could be a real hum-dinger of a match. Dawson will have a fully fit side to choose from with no injuries or suspensions.

Fulham on the other hand have started quite well despite a shock defeat to Exeter. They find themselves third in the league at this point and Latouche will be hoping his side are able to stay the course this season and continue their good form right through to the end. Fulham are begging to look like a well drilled side and will only get stronger going forward.

The form book can mostly be ignored here as these too old rivals come face to face again. On the face of it Middlesbrough have more star players, but Fulham are a well balanced side that have no real weak areas. Home advantage might be enough to tip the odds in Boro’s favour, but Fulham have been playing well and won’t be easily beaten. I feel this will end all square.

Middlesbrough 1 – 1 Fulham

Sunderland.png Sunderland – Preston North End PNE.png

After a disappointing season last season, Sunderland have hit the ground running so far and won three games from three climbing to the top of the table in the process. Manager Raz Van Gaal inherited a top side and has since added to it with the inclusion of some of the games brightest talent. It promises to be a game of mixed emotions for the Mackems boss however as he returns to his old club looking to pile more misery on his good friend Riece Monro. Sunderland on current form look a tough proposition for anyone and Van Gaal will be desperately hoping this is the season that his side get back to where they belong, division 1.

Things couldn’t be more different for Preston however, the side are struggling and find themselves just above the relegation places with one win in three. There’s no doubt the side is a talented one, but a lack of balance is currently costing them and this has prompted the manager to consider accepting a deal for star player Eden Hazard. A trip to Sunderland isn’t exactly the game that Monro would want right now, but Preston will only get stronger as their youth players develop and should have enough to escape any relegation worries.

Sunderland look too strong for Preston on paper, the form guide suggests a Sunderland win and home advantage also points this way. Preston won’t roll over but this looks a big ask for them right now.

Sunderland 2 – 0 Preston North End

Swansea-2.png Swansea City – Millwall Millwall.png

Swansea have started the season brightly with 7 points from a possible 9 taken. Swansea look well equipped at this level and will be amongst the favorites to for promotion this season after a disappointing campaign last time out. Cluer prefers to develop his squad players from talented youth which has generally meant they lack in some areas against the bigger teams, but with some of his reserves beginning to shine and show their true potential it promises to be an exciting season for the Swans.

Millwall have been close to promotion on a few occasion but have always fallen short at the end. Two wins from three games is their best start to a season so far and the fans will be hoping this could be their year. In reality the squad is weaker than some of its rivals and it may be difficult for them to maintain this level without strengthening in several areas. Braidwood isn’t now for his forays into the transfer market, but this seems a good a time as any to make a few deals and really try and push on with his side.

Both of these teams are riding high in the play off places, but Swansea look they can put out a superior starting eleven and with home advantage considered will probably just about steal this.

Swansea City 2 – 1 Millwall

Colchester.png Colchester United – Burton Albion Brton.png

Colchester have been something of a surprise this season taking maximum points from their opening games. They could expect to find themselves top if they can keep this form going but they face third place Burton next and this could define the rest of their season at an early point. A win could see them kick on for promotion while defeat will most likely break the spell and ruin their impressive start. The side is one of the weaker teams in this league and the manager will be desperately hoping to keep everyone fit for the season, but a few good loan signings could help no end here.

Burton have also done well so far this season despite the managers reluctance to deal with other managers. The man with the funny name has assembled a decent side for this level and should be considered one of the favorites for promotion.

Colchester will hold an advantage in current form and being at home, but it’s clear that Burton look the stronger side on paper. This game looks like it will go the distance and I can’t see either team doing enough to win.

Colchester United 1 – 1 Burton Albion

Note – A £5 bet on Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Swansea and Burton will return £74.67 on Bet365, Courtesy of SMH betting Blog.
