Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Last chance at redemption

Birmingham-City-Football-Club.png

After one of the toughest weeks for Birmingham , they have seen a huge dip in form leading to three loses and a draw in their last four games. Getting thrashed by Manchester City didn't help morale at all.Getting kicked out of the semi final of the English Cup on penalties have left the boys in real cup hangover. This was seen with a match the following night at home where they slumped to a shady 2-3 lose to relegation candidates Brighton. Having conceded nine goals in their last four games shows real trouble at the back line. Currently on playing three at the back might be the reason however it could be end of season fatigue.

The final game of the season sees Birmingham travel to Ellen Road to face Leeds. Leeds and Birmingham have only played once and it ended with a 3-0 lose at their home ground. With this in mind the players should have worry lines all over their faces. Birmingham have to win this game to secure third place in a remarkable season for them which makes them real contenders for the title next season. However this type of form when they need to pull out wins the most will see them fall into fifth place where they have been stuck out of the top four for many seasons.

Team to play Leeds -

Hart(c)

Van Der Wiel Badstuber Vidal Pereira

Hamsik Sahin

Hazard Kroos

Benzema Lewandowski

From this set up you can tell that the defense has been altered to make sure a more solid performance is there and still with a good attacking threat. This will be Benzema's first match in the English league and everyone hopes he finds the net.

Joe_Hart_1628466c.jpg

Joe hart , Birmingham captain saying a few words on tonight's game

Losing isn't a option today.
We all want to go play in the biggest competition which we can in club football. One win and we have done it.
I think this season will be the benchmark for the rest , winning a trophy and such a good league run.

Uruguay Star Defender seals England move

fft11_mf1132065.Jpeg

Uruguay center half Diego Godin has completed his move to Birmingham very much under the radar of most clubs in Europe. Godin's other suitors were Milan however he opted for the English league where now he will be playing under the management of Thaliwal. Godin has been a vital part of the back line for Villarreal for the last few seasons , he knows with the transfer made he isn't a guarantee first team player. With recent questions asked by the current formation with the current three Godin wouldn't fit in however a line of four is more likely see him play along side Badstuber.

The price paid for Godin was the part exchange deal of Radu who managed 10 starts since his 11m transfer and youth talent Simone Calvano.

We have Godin now , I think the new levels we have entered made this possible.

Also adding to the Birmingham defensive depth is Ricardo Rodriguez.

Polish international Piszczek has put pen to paper to seal his move to Birmingham City football club. Piszczek has joined from rival club Manchester City in an exchange deal of Birmingham's sub right back Pereira and Joel Obi. Piszczek is a very decorated player with good experience. With Van Der Wiel already at the club there is a real fight for a spot in the starting eleven. Thaliwal could seek to introduce Piszczek in the pre season.

With the new arrival it brings constant competition.
Players know i can bring in others at similar levels so everyone works to their full potential to get into the side.

Finishing Strong

Birmingham-City-Football-Club.png

Birmingham City traveled to Ellen road to face Leeds United where previous meetings would of made the the bookies bet to win the game with their previous 3-0 away victory. This game told a different story with Birmingham dominating the game for most periods with 67% possession of the ball. Birmingham scored the only goal in the 1-0 win which came from man of the match Lewandowski. Robert used great skill to go past the Leeds defenders and slot the ball past the keeper in the back of the net.

As this is our first season within the competition most will not expect much from us and i just hope for the best, We will give it our all and hope to do as well as we did last season.

Risky business

ricky-oranje.jpg

Young forward Wolfswinkel has parted ways with Birmingham City with only 3 appearances for the club. Ricky was dubbed a good talent and at the tender age of 23 can still amount to big things where ever he goes. Yesterday it was confirmed he had completed a move to German club Eintracht Frankfurt. In exchange were Cristian Tello and Guilherme Juan.

These two players don't have the experience yet that Ricky has but their is potential in both players to do well. Both very accomplished at youth level and are both determined to succeed and move on to greater things within the first team.

Juan talking to the press in Brazil over the move

Pressure , me and Tello have got a lot of it right now
I have heard a great deal about Birmingham football club , i have always wanted to play in England. It is the best league and where the best play.
Thaliwal gave away a top talent to get our services so it is up to me and my friend to repay him

Both players are on the loan list and can be sent out when the season starts.

Birmingham slump into first defeat in the season

Liverpool-vs-Birmingham.jpg

Birmingham City traveled to Anfield the home of Liverpool football club on a good pre season which ended unbeaten with three wins and two draws however this match ended 4-2 and Birmingham were well beaten. Messi was voted the man of the match for his performance. Liverpool grabbed an early goal from Luico then doubled it from a 15 yard shot from Carrick. Hamsik pulled a goal back to keep the match alive however shortly after Nasri scored two goals which ended the game. Luico's two footed challenge got him a red card and resulted in an injury for Hamsik. M'vila later scored but it was only to make the score a little better than it actually was. At the end of this game Thaliwal was disgusted with Liverpool and they way the went into tackles.

Liverpool was sent out to the pitch to hurt us , nothing more.
Their tackles have got Badstuber , Vidal and Hamsik out of action now , they have hit us hard but he must move on.

Marin completes blues move

Marko Marin representing Germany

The German international Marko Marin has completed his move from Spainish side Atl├ętico Madrid for James Milner and french youngster Plea. Marin has been in the spotlight in recent weeks demanding a move away from the Spainish side deeming the not good enough and not having enough ambition to succeed. Thaliwal took the chance and gambled on Marin and gave away workhorse Milner. Milner himself has been a long term target for Birmingham however has fallen out with the manager as Milner expected more starts. Marin will be a great addition to the already great side of Birmingham City and should produce some amazing performances , you would expect so being dubbed the German Messi.

Tables turn

Birmingham-City-Football-Club.png

After three game in the English league Birmingham have bounced back with authority and claimed two wins from the three games played. Benzema has been the shining light in the second game of the season getting two goals in the second half of the game while sahin got the third to cap off a strong 3-0 win over Derby at home. The following game was at St Andrews where Carlisle United traveled to the ground as the away team managed by the respectable manager Slavin. Yet again Benzema was there to coolly finish the game before it had even started. Benzema again was at the double for Birmingham with Hazard and Kroos finishing things off while Slavin's side could only get one goal which was just seen to make the scoreline a little less brutal.Benzema has now scored four goals in three games in English football this season and if he continues in this fashion people will not even be able to remember the boys who were before him in Suarez and Soldado.

St Andrews buzzing

Birmingham's first game in the competition came off to a banger where the game finished 3-3. Birmingham city played their reverse side for the game against Hamburg who are a tricky team to play against as they fielded there strongest team possible. The game went to a flying start with Welbeck scoring first in the first minute only to be canceled by Petric three minutes later. After which Hoilett showed his skill and scored in the seventh minute. Three goals in less than 10 minutes is something special here and did the fans know it. Before half time Senturk pinch a late equalizer to square things off going into the break. Birmingham target Morel came to haunt Birmingham's manager Thaliwal after he managed to squeeze a shot past Hart in the goal to give Hamburg the lead. Morel was meant to sign for Birmingham for around 7m however he opted to sign another player. Piszczek wrapped things off to finish the game 3-3.Birmingham showed real character in their first game in this competition and managed the most possession and double the amount of shot that their opposition Hamburg. The next game for Birmingham in this cup is against Milan at the San Siro which will be a real test for them.

Tonight's game for Birmingham is against Notts County at Meadow Lane which seats nearly 20,000. Birmingham are expected to rest the stars tonight as they have Arsenal the following game then Milan and then Manchester City.

The English Shield

Since Birmingham's first defeat of the season to Liverpool away from home they have since gone unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions. The reserve side went to Meadow Lane to go against Notts County to escape with a narrow victory with an early strike from Hoilett. From the Second round Birmingham have also beaten Everton and Sunderland away from home. Travelling to Goodison Park Welbeck and Hoilett sealed the game early with excellent headers in both halfs to finish the game 2-1. The stadium of light proved to be a more comfortable game with a brilliant display from Birmingham to finish with a 4-0 victory. Scoring three goals within the first 12 minutes of the game and one at the death to seal things up. Goal scorers Hoilett , Kroos , Marin and Vidal.

English Division one

The disaster show at Liverpool has boosted the clubs performance with a eight game winning streak in the league to put Birmingham safely on the top of the table with 24 points and two points ahead of their closest rivals Chelsea. From the back of the Liverpool game , Birmingham had to travel to the Emirates stadium to face Arsenal where the game had its ups and downs. Arsenal scored first but soon after Birmingham got two back from Hazard and Welbeck however Ruiz strikes again to double however a smart substitution but Thaliwal allowed Welbeck to pinch a last minute goal. After with Morale boosting a 5-1 victory to Manchester City at St.Andrews proved to make teams think twice when playing the Midlands side. Hazard , Hoilett , Hamsik and Sahin at the double made it five.

The following four games left the league in shock when Birmingham showed complete dominance to put away goods side to bed. Welbeck and Lewandowski finished off Wigan in a 2-0 victory. Soon after another 5-1 victory against Darlington with Lewandowski hitting two , M'vila from the spot and Sahin and Badstuber coolly finishing off the game. The following games where more difficult in the sides of Everton away once again and Tottenham at home. From the previous 3-2 victory it seems like Everton didn't learn anything from the previous encounter and slumped to a 3-0 loss with Sahin scoring twice and Lewandowski finishing off. Tottenham game was a little closer however in history it sees Tottenham putting away Birmingham pretty easily however this 3-1 win for Birmingham proved otherwise. Lewandowski , Kroos and Periera on the scoresheet.

We have pulled off some amazing wins in the last few games and if we keep it up we are real title contenders.

The SMFA Cup

From the previous 3-3 game Birmingham fans were expecting high flying games with many goals. With the quality of Milan and Lyon to face away at the San Siro and the Gerland we could expect some epic encounters. When going to Milan Birmingham played a more safe game with getting the lead early on and playing for the counter and it seemed that way with a 1-1 draw with Kroos scoring to get the point. When away from home against Milan , Birmingham will see that point as vital. However going to the Gerland in France Phil Jones's chip sealed an impressive 1-0 victory which got all three points to out Birmingham joint leaders on top of the group only with one goal difference between first and second.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Wilshere Wilshere and some more Wilshere

Jack-Wilshere-006.jpg

Thaliwal has sealed one of the biggest transfer deals this season with highly rated England international Jack Wilshere finalizing his move to Birmingham City. Jack Wilshere is England's biggest talent and arguably one of the best young footballers in the world right now. Jack Wilshere has been welcomed with open arms to the Birmingham team and already with the likes of Jones , Smalling , Hart and others he should feel at home already knowing most of the team. Wilshere had found it hard to live in Germany and play for Bayer Leverkusen with making minimal starts and being home sick.

German youngster Holtby and Canadian star Hoilett made way for Wilshere in the first part of this deal which will also see Ricardo Rodriguez go to Bayer as well when the transfer restrictions have been lifted on the player. Holtby wasn't a starter at Birmingham and was hardly used in the cups games either. His main duty was to cover for an injury however with Eriksen back in the mix Holtby has been out of favor. When you realize Birmingham also have Chamberlain , Lucas , Ramsey and others in that position already who can't break through thus going on loan it makes sense for him to part ways. Hoilett on the other hand was a top performer in the cup and being one of only 4 real forwards the club had , this may make Thaliwal recall Moreno Rodrigo from loan or call up Cuenca to the set up. Ricardo was a player who was bought to see develop. Periera and Jose Angel don't look troubled at left back so there wasn't much chance of Ricardo getting a career at Birmingham.

You can't really put a price on a player like Wilshere , there are only a few special talents in the world and im happy to have another one in the ranks.
I think Wilshere can break into the first team soon and should be a huge player in a few years.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Sitting pretty

Marek+Hamsik+(5).jpg

Hamsik the leading man

Birmingham have now claimed 28 points out of a possible 33. The winning streak of Birmingham got broken by a fierce Blackburn side which stoke early with Santa Cruz hitting the back of the net in style to beat Hart. Blackburn were dominant in most areas of the pitch which we haven't been seeing in recent games. Blackburn finished off with the most shots and a solid amount of the ball however the party was ruined when Hamsik was called upon. A mix up in the midfield of Blackburn allowed Hamsik to pick up the ball and run past the defense with ease to finish in superb fashion. This game was a wake up call for Birmingham as they were on such a high after defeating soo many teams they got to confident in their abilities. From the game Birmingham were only sitting on the top of the table by goal difference.

However the lesson was learnt when hosting to Brighton where the Blues cleaned up with an impressive 2-0 victory. M'vila smashed home with a penalty kick getting three goals in eight games. Impressive for a defensive midfielder. Benzema sealed it with a goal in the very next minute with some fancy foot work. Benzema improves his tally to five goals and four assists in ten games. Hamsik again picking up his second man of the match performance in a row.

This now means with Chelsea's defeat to Blackburn Birmingham are now three points ahead of their nearest rivals. Creating this breathing space is important as it lets the players relax a little more and shows the hard work they have given to the club.

The biggest downfall for Birmingham City was that when playing Brighton one of their own boys Tom Cleverley got injured when Godin came in with a rash tackle. We hope Cleverley a speedy recovery as Brighton need him to keep them in the top flight.

Butland already apart of the England set up is likely to be the under study to Hart at Birmingham where he can gradually improve. Lascelles is a highly rated defender playing at the under 19 level whos shown hes got the brain to become a very good defender.

They call him Fabio

Fabio-Coentrao-110414-Inaction-R300.jpg

Highly rated Portuguese left back Fabio Coentrao has made a shock exit form Manchester United to complete a move to Birmingham for the second time. Fabio had already transferred to Birmingham before hand however the deal was cut short after some complications which saw Fabio go back to his parent club only after a short stay at the midlands club. Fabio as we all know is one of the brightest young left backs in the world right now. At 24 there is time for him to develop and hes far from the finished article even though he is by far in the top level already. With the new boy in we have seen the experienced Periera leave to Manchester Untied and highly rated youngster Fossati with him. Pereira stayed at the club for two seasons after his transfer from Real Madrid and managed 46 games for the club. The boy will be missed , at 26 he wasn't the old guard that had to leave.

If im honest , Fabio is better than Al so the deal had to be done.Fabio was here before but now i want him to stay for a long time.
Fabio is going to be a huge hit , our left back situation is covered fr a long time.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

And here they come

Manchester_United_logo.png

Manchester United have recently departed way with their manager and went straight to the phone to call up Jaspal Thaliwal for the job offer. Manchester United have reached heights which Birmingham have never been before winning many titles and having the financial backing to support any bid for any player they want. Superstars such as Ibrahimovic of Manchester United had made it clear that he wants to have Thaliwal as the head man at the Theater of dreams.Double runners up in both the league and the English cup last season sees United in a period of transition with going through 9 managers in 7 season.

Thaliwal has done an amazing job at Birmingham and everyone at the club has pleaded with the Gaffer to stay as long as possible. At Birmingham city Thaliwal has lead them to the English Shield victory last season with being able to get European football every year at the job and finally made steps to get the top 4 space as theirs after a third place finish and now competing for top spot this season.

Blues_Fans.jpg

Birmingham fans made their voices heard and showed they didn't want any changes at Birmingham and wanted Thaliwal to stay. Fans have taken to the streets and marched through the city to gain publicity for the cause.

With the job under Thaliwal's head Birmingham have slipped up in their performances with the uncertainty with the manager's future. Loses to Hamburg in the Group stages of the SMFA Cup which lands them 2nd , Loses to Chelsea and a draw to Aston Villa drops Birmingham to 3rd place and many wish this news never came about. The worst was to come with a shock defeat to Manchester City which has leas Birmingham to drop out of the Shield which they won last season 3-1 in the Semi finals even though on paper Birmingham should of cleaned house.

However in the later stages of today Thaliwal has confronted the media and publicly announced he will not leave Birmingham City for another club ever. This will be the greatest news in Birmingham's history , maybe more so then winning the Shield last season or getting into the top European stages.

Transfer News

The speculation surrounding Thaliwal has lead to Hamsik to plead for another challenge in his career and handed in his transfer request to Thaliwal. Hamsik swiftly found a new club ironically at the club which also wants to take away the Gaffer only days ago. Hamsik has been announced as an Manchester United player in the early stages in the morning. Birmingham city have gained the services of two young men who have a lot of potential in Witsel and Gaitan.

Axel-Witsel.jpg

Witsel

a8cbbf97-82c6-4d4d-a785-f8a256b91a6f_1f511b5e-a7d6-461a-b63a-bf8bf0f1ac73.jpg

Gaitan

Both players have been tracked by Birmingham City for a matter of years now and have been delighted to get this deal done as quickly as Hamsik made his demands clear. Witsel will directly replace Hamsik and according to Thaliwal there really isn't much difference between the players.

Witsel is a year younger so we expect him to develop to Hamsik's level in a year.

Gaitan is a fierce winger with an eye Xavi would be proud of. Gaitan has excellent vision and can assist from nearly any position he is in on the flank.

According to Thaliwal there will be another big surprise in store for the fans with a new face coming in.

It has been reported today that Rami has been sited at St Andrews , strange for a player whos plays his trade in Germany at Wolfsburg. Rami has said he has come to visit team mates with fellow french internationals M'vila and Benzema at the club. M'vila has recently celebrated his 22nd birthday and has been visited by many friends and family but none have come to the stadium to pay best wishes. Could there be more to this than meets the eye.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Blue is the Colour , Birmingham is the name

Birmingham+City+Logo.png

With all things finally settled in Birmingham after the tense week where Manchester United were on the brink on taking away prize asset Thaliwal to become the new manager , Birmingham get back to winnings ways. Birmingham set up a friendly game with Ipswich Town and comfortably knocked them into one side with a 3-1 victory. Benzema , Vidal and Sahin where able to net past the only on looking keeper Fulop. This was a great confidence boost with Milan coming to St Andrews only days later for the big clash in the group stages.

Milan set up with their strongest possible team out with the likes of Tevez , Nesta , Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic. Comparing sides , Milan had more quality when it came down to it. However Marino Prenc as we know really isn't the manager for Milan only placing them 14th with about half the season gone. On the other hand this dosen't mean you should count them out this quickly.

The game started with Birmingham on the front foot and made Milan pay for sloppy Defending with Benzema hitting home after 4 minutes on the clock. Nevertheless the resilience of Milan was to show with a goal 20 minutes after from the old guard Nesta poking home from a goal line scramble. This wasn't the end of Birmingham's worries as the fell short again this time to Tosic. Hart expertly barried away a goal mouth shot from Tevez only to have Tosic poach on the ball. Lines men called it on side when clearly on the replay this decision was very unjust.

With the game going to half time with Milan leading Thaliwal gave a team talk like no other and sent out his boys with a vengeance. Hazard with his amazing skill on the flanks manages to cut in and finishes from a yard out. Benzema was soon to follow taking on Milan's back four with his amazing pace to go on and chip the keeper and make him look like he should be playing for a pub team as keeper not in this prestigious up. Birmingham managed an upset and claimed another three points to put them on top of the table. With lyon next with already beating them away from home should see them ease into the knockout phase. Only a point is needed to go through.

Eden+Hazard+(1).jpg

Hazard the man of the match

Transfer news

With all the speculation going around this week , it was obvious that Birmingham would place themselves once active again in the transfer market. After finalizing deals for Witsel and Gaitan the possibilities were endless to the top European talent they could manage to get into the club.

Adil Rami was sited on the training grounds of Birmingham only a few days ago only to say he is visiting friends. However visiting friends might of meant seeking advice on a possible move to the Midlands club and that was true. Benzema and former team mate Hazard gave rave reviews on the club and days later Rami had agreed personal agreements on a contract to Birmingham City without even letting Birmingham set up a deal for him however we knew his heart was set on a move now. Wolfsburg knew they couldn't keep hold of Rami for too much longer after letting the media know he wants a move so a day later the deal was arranged and completed. Adil Rami joins Birmingham City for the exchange deal of Pjanic and young defender Ewerton. Rami is likely to be first team along side Badstuber. Pjanic wasn't a first team player for the blues and with the arrival of Gaitan he was allowed to move on to another club. Ewerton was picked up on the cheap by Birmingham so they felt no harm in signing him away.

adil-rami.jpg

Adil Rami

This wasn't all Thaliwal had in lines for the Birmingham fans. With Rami joining this left out Godin a starter before the arrival of Rami. This lead in a feud with Thaliwal as Godin knew with Jones , Smalling and Evans surrounding Godin he didn't have a chance of playing time in the near future. Thaliwal quickly acted upon this a found a new man to take over form Godin. This man was know as the "Afro man". Thats right , Marouane Fellaini has agreed a five year deal with Birmingham. He will fight out with International team mate Witsel over the departing Hamsik's spot.

Marouane+Fellaini+topic.jpg

Marouane Fellaini

Other low key purchases where bought to increase depth in the squad and to be used as possible part exchanges in the near future.Blerim D┼żemaili and Lucas Torro were brought in. Dzemaili is a Swiss international hitting 26 at a good age and with very good ability as well. He will likely to be placed on the loan list until suitors come about. Lucas Torro has been likened to one Fabregas.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Manchester coming back to haunt

Birmingham%2BCity%2BLogo.png

Macnhester United vs Birmingham City , one of the most highly anticipated matches of the season and a possible title decider. The main vocal point of the match was the departure of Hamsik and Godin to Manchester United only days before the game. If these two players come back to haunt them Thaliwal would have had a number of questions to answer. Thaliwal recently rejected United in favor of a stay in Birmingham however with the vast power at United taking Godin and Hamsik , maybe he should of thought about staying.

Once the team sheets were submitted it was clearly seen that Hamsik and Godin were in the starting 11 and should help unlock the Birmingham set up as being at the club for long enough to know the tactics. The same wasn't said for Thaliwal as he didn't field any of the United players who came to him in the form of Witsel , Fellaini and Gaitan.

Once the game started it seemed like they were cancelling each other out knowing every step. Only a few chances in the game which fell to Benzema and Van Persie having long shots. The second half was deemed to be more exciting and it should with Ibrahimovic slotting home after 3 minutes of the second half. Strangely enough Birmingham are making a habit of scoring goals right after they conceded and things didn't change with Lewandowski scoring from a corner. As the game wore on Joe Hart was put into practice with a number of diving saves to seal a draw.

Transfer news

With all the hype still surrounding Rami joining bringing solidity to the back line , the fans were more than happy with the squad as it was. However in a market were deals can happen at any time everyone should be on their feet.

Dede-1-COS.jpg

Vital Dede

We start off this weeks new signing with experienced Brazilian defender Vital Dede who is likened to Thiago Silva. At the tender age of 24 he still has time to develop as a defender and should be going out on loan before making an impact at Birmingham City. Going the other way was Savic and Redmond. Savic was unused and not needed at the club. His development was slow thus the transfer made. Wilshere went out on loan to help the club and to seal the Dede deal.

Mapou-Yanga-Mbiwa-foto-tratta-da-internet01.jpg

Yanga-Mbiwa

Making huge steps within the French league is one Yanga. Yanga was one of the more solid defenders in the league and is versatile with being able to play right back and center back. It is likely Yanga will be used to play in the Cup games and the odd league game. Breaking into the side he has done already with the likely possibility with Smalling and Jose Angel going out on loan.

javi-martinez-bayern-514_514x297.jpg

Javi Martinez

Lastly and the biggest transfer possibly made this season for Birmingham and maybe the entire world this season is Javi Martinez. Martinez is the replacement to Alonso in the Spain set up and one of the best young midfield players in the world right now. Being able to play center back and center midfield gives a lot of options for him in the team. Martinez is likely to be placed on the bench going into tonight's game against Bolton making his debut as a substitute. Martinez joins a long line of central midfielders such as Vidal , Sahin , Kroos , Witsel , Fellaini , M'vila , Eriksen and including the out on loans of Wilshere and Cleverley.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Work in progress

Birmingham%2BCity%2BLogo.png

After the heated few weeks with the Manchester United fiasco , Thaliwal made it clear he wasn't leaving. Leading into the match against Stoke coming off an away draw against United and a narrow 2-1 victory against Bolton in a friendly things looked settled. Going away to Stoke is one of the more trickier games of the season with already holding down Everton , Manchester City and Tottenham it was a game which wasn't easy to call. The game finished the same way it had started , with both teams level. Birmingham came from a goal down to seal a point with Benzema scoring a penalty. This has lead Birmingham to 3rd place in the league only two points behind leaders Liverpool who are drawing on points with Chelsea who are only second with Goal difference.

Birmingham City have a tough task ahead with Lyon coming on Monday in the SMFA group game where Birmingham are leaders in the group however need at least a point to seal qualification for the first time ever. After that game will be Liverpool at home where the previous reverse fixture finished 4-2. However you can argue that Birmingham mainly conceded as many goals as they did because of the fact that both Center backs were injured in the game and so was a midfielder which left vital holes in the field so Liverpool could exploit. Birmingham Vs Liverpool will be a match football fans must see.

Transfer news

There is a massive buzz going around St Andrews as the fans expect top names to be coming in to the Club as Birmingham have been known as the must be destination for many top players. Suiting from the world class to the lowest youth prospect , the blues cater to all and try to make them succeed. Thaliwal has been known as one of the top managers when it has come to transfer dealing and with recent events with Rami and Fellaini why should it be any different.

196228hp2.jpg

Jordi Alba

Star Spain and Valencia left back Jordi Alba has completed a move from Spainish club Valencia to Birmingham in the exchange fee of one German international Badstuber. Alba is considered one of the best left backs in the world right now. Considering Birmingham already have Coentrao and Angel it seems like Angel has been deemed surplus now. Badstuber leaving creates a hole in the center of the defense however with the arrival of Martinez it is likely he will play the Center role along side Rami. Alba will play as Coentrao's understudy for a period however it is assumed Alba will break away in the first team in no time.

171121926.jpg

Seydou Doumbia

Ivory Coast international Doumbia has been flown back to England to complete a move to former club Birmingham City. Doumbia was sold to Barcelona to sign Soldado however with the departure of Soldado and Suarez , Birmingham was always one short when going forward. Doumbia was very highly regarded when playing for Thaliwal , Thaliwal considered Doumbia one of the best up and coming forwards hes seen. The potential to become the next Drogba in his eyes. The only reason Doumbia left was because of family issues however his family are backing Doumbia 100% with a move back to England. He nows comes into the club with Benzema , Lewandowski and Welbeck as team mates as strikers. Doumbia is strong and has pace about him , he should shine coming back into the first team. Barcelona will gain the services of out of favor and out of luck Jose Angel and youth talent Tello.

Theres millions of Tello's of this world and Angel isn't needed. However Doumbia is needed and will be vital.

In the closing stages Thaliwal expressed near enough all transfer deals were done. There is no reason why Birmingham should want to go into the market anymore as they have one of the best squads at this moment.

I can actually say this , my team is now complete. The right balance of a starting 11 , a great second team along with many talents still learning in the youth and stars loaned out to.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

The German savior

102898hp2.jpg

Thomas Muller

Undoubtedly one of the best things to come out of Germany in recent years. Thomas Muller a superstar attacking player at the age of 22 with 32 caps for Germany is really something. The German lad will come in from Bayern Munich where Sahin and Marin will depart in the opposite direction. It is fairly clear that the only way to improve the team may not be by good depth , more so quality over quantity. Muller is a player who will join straight into the first team taking over Sahin's position on the starting 11 allowing M'vila to push forward and solidify a starting 11 spot next to Vidal in the center of the park. Muller will be playing along side young Belgium Hazard creating one of the strongest attacking sides in England with four of the best attackers in the world at a young age of Muller , Hazard , Lewandowski and Benzema.

The club welcomes Muller with open arms and the fans are extremely happy with such a high profile signing however keeping the squad young and leaves room for improvement in years to come. Fans took to twitter to shows their delight in the signing , many with their welcomes and other with the expectation of Muller getting off to a good start to win silverware.

The young lad isn't Smfa Cup banned with helps out Thaliwal a lot , Muller will become a vital part of Thaliwal's title chase along with trying to win every piece of silverware there is possible.

With the departure of Marin and Sahin some people question the logic behind the move. Sahin is one of the most consistent performers for Birmingham in recent years and voted Midfielder of the year but still Thaliwal turned his back on the player and left him to go back to Germany. Marin however might not be the starting 11 player and more of a bit part player with the cup games but most people saw potential in him and a lot of fans might see Thaliwal regret the deal in the long run.

Muller is a better player than Sahin and Marin , thats why i gave them both away for this superstar player who is younger than both of them.
Muller will take Sahin's place in the starting 11 , Marin will be missed and depth is gone but most people are forgetting i have the choice to recall Lucas , Gaitan , Eriksen and a countless list of players with higher ability that Marin.

Muller's move to Birmingham City is the biggest move this season and looks to be the only big move this season. Thaliwal isn't expected to make another star studded signing like this in a while as Birmingham have the luxury of having such a talented squad at such a young age with the oldest being Piszczek who just turned 27.

Thaliwal's recent transfer rumors have been around Ozil , Gotze and Neymar. Three players very unlikely to move however Ozil and Gotze's agents and clubs are willing to work on deals and listen to proposals making the deals subject to an agreement however its very likely if a deal would happen Birmingham will have to pay over the odds dramatically.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

European success starts now

1588024_w2.jpg

Benzema sends Birmingham into high European hopes

The star French striker has been anything less than prolific since his move to Birmingham and has been scoring the important goals at the exact right time which will end up making him a club legend by the end of his stay at St Andrews. Benzema scored the late goal in the final group game to finish second in their group only drawing two all against Lyon. Birmingham were drawn against Spanish club Valencia. First game was at the Mestalla , the game was completely sold out with all 55,00 tickets sold. This making the Birmingham voice very loud in Spain. Birmingham managed a 1-0 away victory with Benzema scoring in the 89th minute giving the traveling fans great joy about being able to get into the next round. The display was amazing , with 60% possession and nearly three times the amount of chances made. However the only bad thing to come out of the match was Coentrao's red card with two bookings in the match giving him one match ban. This means former Valencia player Alba will be taking over at left back , by no means is this a disadvantage as Alba is a wonderful left back however must be mentioned that full force of Birmingham will not be shown in the second leg.

In lighter news the blues have not picked up on league form , being placed third comfortably and should be able to easily finish in the top three with the closest club with an 8 point difference however also a 6 point difference between second and a massive 9 point difference between first. It is highly expected that Chelsea will retain the title.

Transfer News

400005606.jpg

Cesar Azpilicueta

Spanish starlet has completed a shocking move from Liverpool to Birmingham City , there has been times when the Birmingham and Liverpool managers haven't seen eye to eye with Liverpool asking for very high amounts for players and suggesting players under par and worth seasoned internationals. It has been debated on many social media sites even the Liverpool fans have lost faith in the current set up with an increasingly ageing squad with the like of Ferdiand , Lucio and Lugano to name a few.

So now that Liverpool have lost their prized youth asset in Cesar there are more question marks around the managers head. Cesar is a top professional with a very bright future in front of the man. Spain currently looking for a top right back with Ramos linking in the middle makes Azpilicueta a shoe in for the spainish squad after years of quality service to whom ever he has played for. Liverpool will be receiving a quality right back in the likes of Piszczek , the polish right back hasn't been a first team player and him only ageing it should only be right to send him where he will be able to play first team. The polish defender is very highly rated however doesn't fit the current mold of the Birmingham set up.

Piszczek is an outstanding player , but just not for Birmingham. The man is 27 now and i don't believe he will be able to keep up with the modern game as well as Cesar will be able to.
Azpilicueta is a very young promising right back and will be cover for Van Der Wiel. The boy is quick and his decision making is on point.

The club now have lowered the current playing age of the club to dramatic levels. The oldest player is now 26 years of age and that is French international Rami. The club has an average age of 22 years old in the first team alone however still are able to compete with the best in the world right now.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

League success is the vocal point

Birmingham City have managed to be in the position where they always find themselves , with no cup competitions left to play in. With the league coming to a close in 6 games time Birmingham have managed to gain 70 points from 32 games. Conceding the least number of goals and with the least amount of defeats with 4 but only sit third spot. Liverpool lead with a strong 5 point gap and also Chelsea ahead with a slender 2 point gap. When considering previous league titles , managing to get 70 points from 32 games would place you in poll position to gain the league title with majority of the time you would need around the 80 point mark to win the title.

It seems now more than ever the league has become much harder and you need to be more determined than ever to be able to finish top of the table. At the same time you do question Thaliwal's Birmingham side. Being third with a 5 point difference isn't bad but likely placing them without a hope of the title. Yet they are the team hardest to score past and hardest to beat with the only teams beating them in the league so far are Liverpool twice , Chelsea and unpredictable Wigan. The clash between Chelsea and Birmingham will be vital to see who can finish in second spot as Birmingham take one stop closer to a top trophy.

Birmingham have been recently been kicked out of European competition by Valencia by a shock loss at home while also a shock defeat at home again by Manchester United with Forlan scoring a free kick in the English cup. The only good thing coming from these defeats are that now 100% focus lies on the league and trying to finish as high as possible.

Defeat now isn't on anyone's mind and if it is i don't believe they will last in football , certainly not in Birmingham City. With the only thing keeping Birmingham strong at this moment is the will power to not be defeated. only 4 loses shows the heart and courage to succeed even though the road will be a long and hard one. The worst case would be the goal difference of Birmingham City which is only in the 30s while Chelsea's and Liverpool's are in the 50s. If it came to goal difference Birmingham would be surely beaten.

Contemplating on the current situation people question Birmingham as they have loaded out a vital member of the team to Liverpool which has helped them seal valuable points in the last few games. One Cuenca has managed to get 7 goals and 4 assists in 24 apparences which 17 where starts. Showing right now if he was to be recalled it wouldn't be the worst thing ever to happen for a Birmingham city fan.

The only problem facing Chelsea's and Liverpool's title domination in recent years is the lack of transfer activity. Liverpool's vocal points are in Lucio , Ferdiand and Anelka. Without these three players in the future it is likely goal will disappear along side the solid defense. While at Chelsea Drogba , Lampard , Ronaldinho , Puyol and Malouda are no spring chickens but get the job done at the moment. But soon they will all slip , Birmingham on the other hand have no player above the age of 26. Showing a team for the future for certain. Birmingham's time shall come soon enough.

As the future looks bright with these star players.......

Stalemate keeps Birmingham in pole position

Arturo-Vidal-AP-e1336414056577.jpg

Arturo Vidal scores equalizer

In a tense last few weeks until the season comes to another dramatic end the season as taken another turn as Chelsea dropped points against Leeds to place Birmingham City second after defeating Cardiff 2-1 with a great Hazard goal and a last ditch shoot but Muller to seal all three points. However we all knew Chelsea vs Birmingham was the following game and this could potentially determine who would be the rivals to Liverpool t steal that top spot. Liverpool would still be leading with three points after a late goal from Darlington in the 85th minute to share the points.

Once the day had arrived we all knew Chelsea would be the favorites for this match after beating Birmingham several times over Thaliwal's managerial career. The way the game went seemed like it was going to happened again with Chelsea controlling position by a mile and be able to score past Hart with a thunderous shoot which left hart with nothing to do but just stand there. Nevertheless the never say die attitude came about and Birmingham showed why they deserve the title as much as anyone. Being able to change formation to a more attacking style to push Chelsea's defense and midfield more back left they sloppy and gave Vidal the advantage to chip the goal keeper and score a wonderful goal. This goal would seem vital if Birmingham are able to go on to win the title but that task is very unlikely and seemingly impossible with Manchester United and Aston Villa standing in their way. Manchester United seems like a daunting task ahead with the odds stacked against them but also travelling to Villa park would be no picnic either.

Transfer rumors

There hasn't been much transfer rumors since the arrival of Spanish right back Cesar but speculation has heated up ten fold. Since news of a potential James Rodriguez deal had fallen through as Birmingham's chairmen deemed it too high of a price they have used the players within the James deal to find other options. It has been released that Birmingham have sealed a deal with Ajax for an unnamed player which Thaliwal has said " Ajax and us have done a deal , pre arranged so guarantee it but out defense will be solid next season".

A deal with Ajax looming but also there has been activity in Spain too which has lead to Sakho to reveal he wants a move to Birmingham City. " Sakho is a player we admire , 90% of the deal is agreed. But we have to remember anything can happen in football".

" We have sealed a deal for a German superstar player. Muller has convinced the player to join the club and the fee we are paying is very fair for both parties but no names will be given until the deal is complete." We are lead to believe only a few German player would be suitable for Thaliwal's Birmingham team. We have narrowed the search down to these player .....

Transfer News

Everyone has been investing their time into the on going speculation of an ongoing deal surrounding a big German talent supposing to arrive at St Andrews in a few days. All the speculation has lead to many managers seeking to find out this German talent and try to persuade him to join their club instead of the Blues. Nevertheless this deal was going to be the vocal point of Birmingham for many seasons to come however it has believed the deal may have been scrapped for the time being until there is a way to resolve the issue surrounding the player. However this doesn't mean transfer activity with the club has fallen , but now more than ever it is a way to try to strengthen the squad even more in different departments and try to make Birmingham gain solid experience and good young players to boot.

Some players have been sold to raise funds for the new ones to come in , talents such as Dzemaili , Lascelles, Kadu , Oviedo and Klassen have been shipped off in return for 28m. With the money Birmingham have managed to complete moves for

nelsonoliveira4.jpg

Nelson Oliveria

Nelson is a full international for Portugal at the age of 21 , he has already managed to score for the club and has featured for the national side at major tournaments. Already having former partner Rodrigo at the club the link showed strong enough to gain Nelson's services. We believe that with the right development he will be able to challenge for a starting spot in a season or two. Nelson joins for 5m and will be loaned out.

mario-fernandes-ficha-cska_2_1192418.jpg

Mario Fernandes

Mario is one of the best under 21 right backs in the world right now , believed to be scouted by Real Madrid very closely. Birmingham clinched a deal with the club by offering an extra 100k which in reality is a very smart move. Completing a move 10.2m , today with such an over inflated market the deal seems steep but we are confident he will be able to do well. Mario joins the ranks of Van Der Wiel and Azpilicueta at right back.

1618891_full-lnd.jpg

Antonio Candreva

The last player which joined for an cash amount from the money gained was Antonio Candreva , Italian international who plays in either wing or an attacking midfield role. The italian has had successful strides at many clubs and is likely to be leaving on loan for the season to progress. At the age of 25 hes the oldest player to arrive but this doesn't mean he hasn't got the quality to play.

With these three players joining the ranks depth shouldn't be a problem in any area and with the team always looking to the future the additions work perfectly. It is believed another high profile french defender will complete a move in a few days.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Return of the old faithful

The following weeks have all been about transfer dealings , with the season closing very shortly its is time to find new blood to bring into the club. In this instance it isn't new blood however returning stars who already have the Birmingham desire and heart. Birmingham City are a team well known for one of the best midfield ranks in the world with enough depth for three top quality sides. Still strikers were only just confirmed and placed for the next few seasons. Shady area was always the defense with make shift center back Martinez slotting in at center back even though he is a defensive midfielder by trade. Martinez made the change since the midfield was always going to be taken up by Vidal and M'vila with others following behind such as Fellaini , Wilshere , Eriksen , Kroos and Cleverley. With this in mind it was thought to have a new center back brought in to bring more stability into the side and allow Martinez to fight for a place in the first team for a midfield role.

French superstar Laurent Koscienly has made a much warm welcomed return to Birmingham City for a swap deal involving Dede and youngster Liviaja. Laurent was first brought in for a fee of 5m from Lorient where he was an unknown in European football. Birmingham's french scouts recommended him and at a cut price of 5m it was a risk worth taking. Since joining Laurent spent three seasons at Birmingham , playing for them a total of 79 times in the league. He was transferred to Manchester United to bring over Phil Jones who's regarded as better then John Terry and future England captain. Laurent is likely to go straight to first team football being ahead of Evans , M'biwa , Jones and Smalling.

108920hp2.jpg

Laurent Koscienly

The next big addition who was once a Birmingham player is England international Jack Rodwell. At 21 he already has a lot of match experience , playing at international level and impressing all over Europe. Rodwell was first brought in from Everton for a swap deal involving Lucas. Rodwell would only feature 6 times in the league in his stay until being sold to bring in M'vila from Marseille in a deal of Rodwell and Poli. Rodwell now joins his former club for a swap deal of Gaitan. The highly talented winger was much surplus and there was many more players with higher ability at the club who have yet to make a mark on the team. Jack will be loaned out for the seasons ahead to gain more European football experience. Jack is a wonderful talent and has been scouted by many teams across the globe , signing for Birmingham will allow him to go through the ranks well and be in safe hands with close England team mates such as Wilshere , Jones and Smalling.

Jack-Rodwell_2812825.jpg

Jack Rodwell

With all the goings on happening it is expected that 4-5 more high profile deals will be completed before the seasons starts again. No shockers on the cards as we can hear at the moment but anything can happen in today's market. It is speculated that star Argentinian player is in for a move to Birmingham but a name can't be said at the moment. The team is still young but with quality , with all the changes it isn't likely that there will be a stable body at the team however Thaliwal ensures all deals have a purpose and in the best interests for the team in a whole.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Solidarity at third place

Birmingham City have finished another season in the English league only this time to finish a comfortable third place. City also finished third last season however this time they claimed seven more points showing there has been an increase in ability at the top end of the table. Birmingham managed their worst slump to the season coming to an end to it , in the last six games they lost three times and drew once with only two wins. Claiming those points would of secured the title. Inconsistency at the most important time in the season is a worry for any club but for a club who wants to win silverware every season. It isn't right for any top team to be losing at this stage of the season , if this continues to happen Birmingham will fall short every time. At one point there was only a point difference between City and Liverpool at the closing stages of the season but the points slipped. Thaliwal blames the fact that they haven't been in this position before and it created too much pressure for the players to take which lead to a downfall in form thus the drop in points. The mentality of a winning team isn't there yet however with a few summer signings everything can change in an instant. Birmingham are rumored to be closing onto one big player soon who can help the title push. The defense in the season was second best in the league only to winners Liverpool and the Birmingham statistically scoring over two goals a game in each game. Nevertheless Chelsea and Liverpool managed to grab a stat of three goals a game. Maybe there is a question of being even more clinical when in the final third of the pitch but who knows the answers to making a perfect side. Finishing on 77 points can claim the title , this season is a stepping stone to which Birmingham have to realise that if they want to win then some quality must come in of high order at a more experienced age. With French defender Laurent back there is a more solid back line now and the experience he can give is priceless.

Colombian beauty

FC+Porto

James Rodriguez

Superstar Colombian winger James has passed a medical and completed a move to Birmingham City football club. The attacking player has been in speculation to be joining the club for some time now since a pre arranged deal for the boy fell through a few months back. Now new management has come in the youngster has completed his dream move to Birmingham City. James has all the potential in the world to become a winger of the highest order. James has set alight every where he has been making instant impacts in every game appearance. We believe that we have signed a real gem for the future when it comes to world class talent. We think James will fight with Hazard for a first team place soon enough. James will be likely to be apart of the second team allowing Eriksen to be loaned out. James comes in with Spanish counterpart Deulofeu for Belgium attacking midfielder Witsel.

Gerard Deulofeu

Gerard is a young Spanish attacking minded player who is till very young and be placed within the youth system. He is one to watch out for in seasons time and won't feature in the future it seems. We believe by the time he is twenty he will be attracting world interest , developing into a player who can battle it out against the best full backs in the world.

Re: Birmingham city gc76 - Road to Europe

Return of the Myth

dede-vasco-de-gama_2729166.jpg

Vital Dede

"The Myth" Vital Dede has made a dramatic u-turn in his career to return back to Birmingham and recall the deal once made with Ajax which used his as a player exchange for Laurent Koscielny. A lot of buzz was surrounding the highly rated center back as once he came to the Netherlands club Ajax he never settled correctly and felt his home was Birmingham. It was reviled that Dede made numerous phone calls to manager Thaliwal to get him back to the club. After many hours of transfer talk with Ajax's chairmen the deal was pulled back and Dede has now completed a move back to the blues. Dede has already had great strides to first team football with a very successful loan spell at German club Eintracht Frankfurt where he lead them to the German league title. This has lead Thaliwal to place faith in the lad and allow him to become a first team player for Birmingham and allow him to bring that success back to the Midlands. The partner to Dede at center back is a mystery at the moment but we are assured who ever is picked to play along side the Brazilian is more than capable to compete at the highest level and be able to keep clean sheets.

One french men for another

hi-res-120100499_crop_exact.jpg?w=650&h=440&q=75

Mamadou Sakho

French international Sakho has made the switch from La Liga to the Premier league in return for another french men in Adil Rami. Sakho has came from Spanish champions and SMFA runners up Valencia. Rami has traveled the other way to complete the deal , Rami was one of the more outstanding defenders at Birmingham since Badstuber left. From then on there has no clear superstar center back but now with Rami gone does that mean there's a void in the center back position of a real world class player. Dede has already been placed in a starting role and Sakho has been transferred for Rami thus leading to assume that Sakho will be partnering Dede for the league season. Fellow French international Yanga-M'biwa is also at the club making Frances two starting center backs at Birmingham. It is likely that Jones and Evans will continue there great team work in the cup competitions. This will lead to Smalling and Yanga taking either a back seat in the season or be loaned to get experience and make an impact like Dede's meritocratic rise to fame.

Dede and Sakho being at the very young ages 22 and 24 this would mean that both players would be in the starting line up for years to come to make a solid partnership for years to come. Both players have vast amounts of experience but we do know that Thaliwal has placed a lot of faith in one Phil Jones " One day , captain of club and country". With no chance of Jones leaving the club we are already to place the label of captain on Jones which can create a lot of pressure and expectation on the lad which isn't fair but is expected. With fundamentally six high class center backs who all want to become starting players , they will have to adapt to other positions. Martinez who played center back was allowed to play his preferred position and now this lead to more room of development for players at defense. The only club slots opening for players are at central midfield and holding midfield along with striking role. The only defensive midfielders are Vidal , Martinez and M'vila thus creating a gap if ever someone wanted a place. Only Benzema , Lewandowski and Welbeck play forward. Rodrigo is the promising forward rising in the ranks but isn't up to standard yet. Is there more on the cards for Thaliwal.
