Re: The Politics Thread

Destined to finish behind both Gingrich and Romney in the nominations in my opinion. Which is a shame because i feel he may well have the economic credentials the USA needs right now. Not sure what Republican voters attitude to politicians is like at the moment ( do they share the UK cynicism ?), if so his lack of media coverage and being seen as an outsider may count in his favour. Likewise on foreign policy, do American people favour more intervention ( ie Iran) or less?, if the latter then he certainly fits the bill. I think Gringrich will get the nomination, he perhaps seems to safer bet both at home and aboard. Sadly I'can't see past Obama in 2012, which says as much about the weakness of the RP candidates as it does about his strength and track record..:)

Elsewhere one note that the Czechs, Sweden, Hungarians and indeed the French opposition party are now all having seconds doubts about the EU fiscal deal. Denmark next ?.. funny that :D

he is considered pretty fringe when it comes to spending cuts (even by Republican standards ) and the media are paying little or no attention to him. I think Romney will take it by a landslide simply by being the only electable candidate when it comes to 2012. Even he is about as uninspiring and out of touch (he made a $10,000 bet with Perry live at a debate. People would see this merely as him emphasizing his point if he wasn't worth well over $10,000,000). Gingrich is too out there and had too many affairs. He is the latest in a long list of people to lead over Romney, but they all fade away eventually. It will be 4 more years of Obama as he is one of the best campaigners in American history (plus he killed Osama). 2nd term is where things get done and it would be good to see him have a go without angry tea partyers having the chance to vote him out for anything and everything.

I think its time to start concentrating on our own business instead of galavanting around 'saving the world'.

But if exporting the bombs/guns/expertise etc are your own business..then I guess he is right about that. Peace breaks out and certain countries see a marked dip in export earnings, sliding currency as demand drops, economy begins to slide, social/health/pensions programs get cuts and workers want more, raising internal recurring debt while lowering productivity and then economy stagnates for couple months-recession because of immigrants:rolleyes: taking jobs, socialism and nationalism are on the rise and gain political ground resulting in....

Yeah the riots in Tottenham were caused by the black community feeling persecuted by the police and authorities for no reason - stuff like strip searches and all that shiz.

Not really, racism is alive and kicking in this country mate - always has been always will be. You've only got to look at the tram woman video to see the opinions of a fair amount of people over here. In terms of policing, there's a perception that if you wear Nike/Adidas or anything from JD Sports you're a troublemaking chav lol

Well there's always some bit of personal bias-when it infringes other persons rights that's a problem especially when it becomes institutionalized. Really difficult to unlearn the wrong thing -and I was under the impression (mistaken apparently) that those were exceptions rather than the rule.

Profiling has become the benchmark of proactive policing unfortunately..:(

To be fair, it's generally true :P Well, at least the vast majority of chavs wear that kind of attire.

I personally feel as though the police get far too much stick for what is a pretty challenging, thankless job. Then again, I've been brought up in a comfortable suburban environment and JD clothes aren't to my taste.

Nonsense ..

Yeah the riots in Tottenham were caused by the black community feeling persecuted by the police and authorities for no reason - stuff like strip searches and all that shiz.

No it was caused by the black criminal class's and (amongst many other things) an acute lack of moral fortitude within their community that condones crime' date=' under achievement and that terrible rap music...:)[/color']
