Re: The Official Leeds United FC

if you are trying to taunt me into a reply' date=' you ve got it, because like i said, i graciously conceded my point on the juve/leeds comparison, which when read singularly sounds ridiculous, but i was told by the guy who posted it originally that it was used in a different context[/quote']

Read my edit :)

Was all going on while I was writing and wrestling with my internet. ;)

Re: The Official Leeds United FC I counted wrong, there's actually 14. They are mainly within a 3 year range, because, no matter how it sounds, football is always better when you are winning. I enjoy

Re: The Official Leeds United FC Why are they here in the 1st place? Maybe because from day 1 we have been the biggest footballing nation in europe' date=' and understandably players from the top ec

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

Yeh and Italian football's in great shape at the moment isn't it. If it were an English team like Leeds or Everton who had been found cheating' date=' UEFA would go down like a tonne of bricks on them. I don't know why I'm about to get into this argument, but I don't see how you can brag about your history, and mimic our downfall, when you're playing in a league that is ever decreasing in standard, and is possibly the most corrupt in Europe. I'd take League 1 over that any day mate.[/quote']

"when you're playing in a league that is ever decreasing in standard,"

"I'd take League 1 over that any day mate"

there you go m8, your own quotes, no1 s distorted them

you say you ll take "league one any day", you mean "ligue one" right, the french division? if you prefer ligue 1 over serie a any day, then you are a very strange guy

but like i said i want no more trouble. it s just an argument stemming from me reading a single isolated post that s all, im wrong ok

but dont be tauting me about serie A, because i wont be wrong too many times

Actually' date=' most of the first 30 or so were. There was the odd completely random one, and the odd random time, certain day, but the majority were a specific time. It was only the GC's from the mid 30's to the latest that were mostly random time, specific day.[/quote']

thanks,

does that mean if i want to get a decent team, i ll need to stay online all day long?:mad::eek:

LOL, so here we go again.

"when you're playing in a league that is ever decreasing in standard' date='"[/quote']

Do you disagree that Italy has fallen behind over the last couple of seasons? This still doesn't mean I am calling the league inferior, it means I am comparing it with itself, and commenting on my opinion,

"I'd take League 1 over that any day mate"

I would' date=' as I was referring to the corruption and cheating going on in Italy, which leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

you say you ll take "league one any day", you mean "ligue one" right, the french division? if you prefer ligue 1 over serie a any day, then you are a very strange guy

No, I was referring to League 1. The league Leeds play in, you know? That team who's thread you are currently posting on?

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

you said you are disgusted with the italian football scandal

why the hell would you care for god sake, you dont support any of the italian sides. when you watch serie A, are not watching as a neutral fan of the game, admiring the football?

to say you would rather watch league 1 than serie A, kind of an obvious statement really considering you actually support leeds. this statement says nothing about serie A or league one, only says something about you

I mentioned that earlier...

They were the kings of England around the 70's so the history of the club is not such a bad thing to be compared with Juve really is it...

Leeds have a rich history, it makes them hated here also...

I personally don't know enough about Juve to start a true comparison but I know the history of Leeds... I'm not stupid enough to raise a comparisson when I know nothing about the one team involved...

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

This is really a match Leeds should be winning, and anything less will see me disappointed. But at the same time, how often have we slipped up to a team we should beat right after an impressive win over a much better side?

Bit disappointed by lack of transfer dealings tbh. Don't get me wrong - we have strengthened in the right areas - our defense looks much better in the last two games and Trundle is excellent with Beckford or Becchio - but it would be nice to sign someone like Naylor on a permanent deal, an experienced head whose here to stay, not just help out our defense for a few months.

Now Beckford is back, I fear for our opponents - Beckford and Trundle up front, what a force! :D

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

Yeah, there's no doubting that Juve have a much celebrated trophy cabinet, in fact one of the most prestigious in the history of the game. The only point that was trying to be made was that Leeds, in terms of a fan base, and in terms of reputation, are a massive club now and probably always.

Col, I forget if you still go to all the games. Going tonight?

Need to find a link to listen online

A Bradford-born England Under-21s footballer admitted drink-driving after he was stopped by police and found to be nearly twice the limit, a court heard today.

Fabian Delph, a Leeds United midfielder, was banned from driving for 18 months today after he pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates Court to drink-driving on December 23.

Delph, 19, who gave his address as Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, was also fined £1,400 and told he would have to retake his driving test.

The court heard the teenager was stopped by police in Richmond Court, Rothwell, after he was seen driving a black Vauxhall Astra, containing four passengers, at considerable speed.

He was breath-tested and found to have 66 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath nearly twice the legal limit.

The court heard the League One footballer had spent the night out with friends and was not planning to drive but was encouraged to after being deemed the most sober of the group.

Richard Manning, representing Delph, told the court the teenager, who was a newly-qualified driver, was truly sorry for what he had done.

Mr Manning said: Fabian comes from a difficult and disadvantaged background.

He knows that he is a role model to young people and is truly sorry.

Delph, who appeared in court wearing a dark suit and tie, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth and to enter his guilty plea.

He was ordered to pay £60 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge and was told his ban would be reduced if he attended a rehabilitation course.

Should consider himself a lucky lad after recent events

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

2-0, both goals in the first 11 minutes, both centre-backs scoring from corners.

Tom, how well did we play?

Another clean sheet, and 3 straight wins. Finally, a run. :D Now we need to keep it going so we can catch the top 6, and dare I say it, the top 2 (well, MK Dons as Leicester are uncatchable).

We are now just 3 points off the play-offs after Oldham's defeat (with a better GD) and only 5 off the automatic positions! But Millwall (4 points ahead) have 2 games in hand, so it could ultimately increase to 10 points off the auto positions.

Away to Walsall Saturday, the team Swindon just played. And when Swindon are beating a team 3-0, they must be awful. Walsall were dreadful tonight, until the last 20 minutes (when Vincent was subbed off for Swindon - first game back from a 5 month injury) where they scored twice.

Interestingly, Swindon play Oldham. Hoping they can do us a massive favour come Saturday - and they often do, they normally (strangely) fare quite well against the top sides. Hope I haven't cursed it now..

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

Bit late, but here is my take on the game. We always looked in control, and maybe found it a bit too easy to play the football that we should have done. Was great to see another solid defensive performance, but big Rui doesn't half scare the life out of me sometimes. Was great to see Andy Robinson getting a full game, never understand why he doesn't. Southend looked very poor, and if they don't get players back quickly, they're not gunna last. As for the 3 loanee's, I hope we can get extensions on them, especially Naylor and Trundle. Our recent form is no coincidence, and to keep pushing for promotion we are going to need players of their calibre.

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

Kandol joins Charlton on loan. Strange move - he can't really cut it at Leeds so moves to a team in the division above. Ok, so Charlton are bottom, but surely they need proven players to get them up, not the Leeds 5th choice striker?

On the bright side it means our promotion rivals are a striker down.

Christie and Gardner are released as they are surplus to requirements, teenage keeper Matty Edwards joins Salford on a month's loan.

With Alan Martin and Matty Edwards breaking through, it's only a matter of time before Johnny Lund is released as well.

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

It amazes me how a team can play at a standard worthy of a BSP side one week, then beat Leeds the next..

Annoying in fact. It's a Catch 22. Teams raise their game against Leeds, becuase we're a big side. But if they raise their game, they win, and in time Leeds don't become a big club.

So in other words we have to become a small club to become a big club. :D:rolleyes:

Re: The Official Leeds United FC

Dear lord. This is the most inaccurate report I have ever seen. How this guy is a reporter is beyond me...

Leeds chairman Ken Bates has criticised the media for constantly linking midfielder Fabian Delph with a move away from Elland Road.

The 17-year-old has been catching rival clubs' attention ever since he made his debut against Derby in May 2007 just a day after his 16th birthday.

After just two appearances last season Delph has made 24 starts in League One this term scoring six goals.

Three inaccuracies, righer there in that tiny section.

He is 19 years old, not 17. His birthday is in November, NOT May. All you have to do is search "Fabian Delph ***" in google... and finally he made just one appearance last season.

It's frustrating how poor reporters are getting these days...
