Re: The GREAT BRITISH LEAGUE application thread!

Froz3n Tekkers takes control of Newport County.

This season your Chairman expects you to mount a serious promotion challenge.

Newport County were founded in 1989 and play their home games at Newport Stadium in Newport. The club is also known as The Exiles.

Big expectations from the chairman. Pressure from the start :P

Re: The GREAT BRITISH LEAGUE application thread! I'd be up for it, sounds fun.

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Considering I'm not going to be able to bring any really good players in I've decided to keep my team British and mainly consist of 10k players' date='I might bring in the odd higher rated player but I'll be sticking with what I've got to be honest.[/quote']

I think most folk would be wise to wait and see what kind of gates they get before blowing their generous transfer kitties, my capacity is 3000+ but with being in D4 and if it's real-life attendances i could be looking at crowds of a few hundred

Also, has anyone checked out their cup/ shield draws yet?

I've got Manchester City visiting Ochilview....they must be looking for a beating :rolleyes:B)

I imagine we will be getting about £30,000 a game, so most people will probably be getting into a few million debt then selling potential risers.

Oh and everyone is scared of Tamworth as we have two byes, probably the furthest Tamworth have ever gone in their history :P.

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

got chelsea and blackpool in the cups, but both at home so will get miniimal cash to add to my balance. wish I had one of the many teams with a starting budget over a million:(

thinking about it this division could be decided by someone getting an away tie to a big team in the cup

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Ive only justed accepted the job so 2.8 seems big then?? lol

Yeah, would imagine thats the gihest budget of the lot mate. But like I always say, its not the size of your worm but how it wriggles that counts.

(thank god the missus agrees)

Got barnsley in cup and a bye in the shield. Not sure but I think, given my lack of experience in this type of GW, I may be buying higher rated resales rather than risers - too many of you good folks are better at finding them than I. But will be doing my best to keep it clean with the bank.

I've got £350,000 to start off with. £1 million seem a big budget in this setup.

The less money in the setup the better though. I'm going for a young English based squad, the annoying thing will be that SM are very lazy in the lower leagues - even up to League 1 sort of level. But i'm trying to bring in talented players from the Conference/League 2 who may turn out to be good players.

Highest played i've bid for is a 72 i think, but i'm just being patient about things.

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

By the look of all the competition with players this will be very tight indeed. I'm going to resist bigging big as i really can't afford to waste by budget. Is a toughy as i really am not sure what the wage situation will be like, so i am having to stay away from anything over 75 really.

Oh and Dom 2.8 was the biggest budget, i looked before we opened. Lucky sod :P.

Come off it country boy

Interesting to see the subject of attendances doing the rounds' date=' well as someone who continues to endure the unrelenting misery of managing Chaves in the epitome, let me tell you its bad. Its taken me 4 seasons to buy an away kit, the lads have had to make do with turning the home one inside out [/color']:(

Haha well that doesn't sound good. But if Manchester United can be top of the table whilst millions in debt i don't see why Tamworth can't :P.

There are definitely leagues within the league, with Histon, Fleetwood, East Stirling and Alloa the big dogs and basically all the Welsh teams (plus Bangor who should've been Welsh anyway) as the micro-clubs.

Like I said before, attendances will be very interesting - just bear in mind that even 70's will take £3,000+ off you per turn......

I won't be playing the risers game too much in this anyway, i'm viewing it more as an enjoyable contrast to the high pressure stuff of EC1, EC106 & GC10 :D

That said I'll still keep my ear to the ground and try and snap up any talents I hear of should they fit within my wage "budget".

I didnt know at the time dave !! Well im going to spend my money carefully on big risers that cost 300 to 400k max and my small risers as 10 to 150 reserves , I aim to make a quality team as quick as possible whilst being fair to others , and your more country than me dave !!!!
