Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Been taken to school once again by the old master :)

A crushing 3-0 semi final defeat to Neils charges hurts as I wanted to win this cup. Neil has proved he is on a better level than me at the moment with all the beatings he hands me in various setups :D

Well done mate and I hope you lift that trophy :D

Good game Dom......Just a run of luck for me fella

Got Ed's Fleetwood in the final

Whoever the winner is does not matter.......Great for the set-up with 2 managed teams in the final

Good luck Ed

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Finally have made a couple of signings worth writing home about:

The offer for Sousa RITHELY of Sport Recife from Stenhousemuir has been accepted. The transfer will be completed within the next 24 hours.
The offer for Davy KLAASSEN of Ajax from Stenhousemuir has been accepted. The transfer will be completed within the next 24 hours.

A dismal 4 points from the last 15 has seen us fall 9 points behind 2nd placed Bangor so it looks like play-offs will have to do if we are to go up, although Tamworth and possibly Ebbsfleet may have something to say about that.

To be honest we've been so inconsistent recently I could see us crashing out to an unmanaged anyway so really shouldn't take anything for granted! :(

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Beat Kilmarnock 4-2. Another important win as Bangor won as well and are again just 1 point behind us.

Record crowd watches Newport County. 10,192 fans turned out to watch Newport County against Kilmarnock breaking the previous home record attendance.

Full attendance! :D

Loving the race in division 3, although Stenhousemuir looks to have dropped out and It's a 2 horse race now. But never write off anything in G.B.L. It's where there strangest things happen :D

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Dan Malone steered Hayes & Yeading United to victory against West Ham United.

Hayes & Yeading United beat West Ham United 3 - 2 in their Division 2 fixture.

Nem scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Pukki and Cabella were also amongst the goalscorers.

Keeps up the unbeaten run to 9 games but 5 have been draws, we needed to beat West Ham tonight as they were up in 3rd, I think a play off spot is the best we can get so I hope Dom & Neil can grab the Auto Promotion spots as I wouldn't like to have to beat them in the play offs :)

We are unbeaten in play off games 2 played as we beat Stenhousmuir &

Dumbarton back in season 2 in our only play off run.

A few in over last few days:

BUENO, Marco

CAIO, Rodrigo

SCHINDLER, Christopher

HERRERA, Emanuel

Couple accepted:

DUCKSCH, Marvin

KATIDIS, Giorgos

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Sitting third in the top flight, an outside chance of the title.

Got Lenny's East Stirlingshire in the final of the Shield coming up - good luck Lenny, may the best team on the day win etc.

Not really been about that much as I'm busy and losing my SM mojo to be honest but its nae been a bad sesaon at all. However it has been ruddy boring, this is the third season now where i've pretty much played unmanaged game after game. :(

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Congrats to ED and his Fleetwood on beating me 2-0 in the Sheild Final

Now to concentrate on joining him in Division 1

Well done fella:D

Cheers Len' date=' good game mate. Delighted to have the two of us in the final, really good for the set up and over the moon to claim some silverware in my last season with Fleetwood. If I can take the runners up in the league as well it will have been a fantastic season for me.

Unlucky Neil. well done Ed.

Cheers and thanks mate.

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Another win for me! 2-0 over 6th placed Southampton! :D

Bangor drew and Stenhousemuir lost to complete a perfect evening! :D

This now means I can lose 1 game and still become a champion due to my superior goal difference :D

At the very least promotion looks certain now :)

Re: The Great British League - discussion thread

Hang on a minute……..

….there’s a sneaky chance that I could win this blumming thing!

Last night both Arsenal and Manchester United slipped to defeats, whilst I took all 3 points of Wigan.

This allowed me to leap frog the Gunners into second place, just six of the top spot.

1 Manchester United +22 62pts

2 FLEETWOOD TOWN +21 56pts

Remaining fixtures for Fleetwood:-

[A] - Manchester City (6th)

[H] - West Bromwich Albion (9th)

[A] - Queens Park Rangers (20th)

[H] - Bolton Wanderers (16th)

[A] - Fulham (7th)

[H] - Everton (10th)

Remaining fixtures for Manchester United:-

[A] - Everton (10th)

[A] - Liverpool (18th)

[H] - Sunderland (19th)

[A] - Arsenal (3rd)

[H] - Stoke City (17th)

[A] - Aston Villa (14th)

So essentially if Arsenal can do me a favour and Everton could squeeze a win against United too – or one of the others cause a major shock, all I have to do is win all my remaining games.

A guy can dream can’t he?

If by hook or by crook I could actually win the thing then my GBL record would be simply perfect as it would read:-

Season 1 – Division 4 Winner

Season 2 – Division 3 Winner

Season 3 – Division 2 Winner

Season 4 – Division 1 Winner

Blimey, that would be my greatest SM achievement I think. I mean it aint gonna happen realistically but like Lloyd said in Dumb in Dumber:-

“what are the odds a guy like you and girl like me…..”

“1 in a million”

“So you’re saying there’s a chance…”
