Division 3 - League Game 1.

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSr3PhnvCVT6al90xyJbBG5LLv7aZUN_n2qmyyPkU-eruYc_gNJig

Terrible Start For Villa.

Panathinaikos 3 - 0 Aston Villa

Seitaradis 2, Cisse 26 + 79.

MOM Seitaridis Opens The Scoring For Panathinaikos.

Panathinaikos had a dream start to their Division three campaign as they overcome a very lacklustre Aston Villa outfit. It started so very wrong for Villa when after only two minutes Govou took advantage of some shocking defending by the Villa back three and fed the ball to Seitaridis who slid the ball into the back of the net. 1 - 0. Villa tried to pick themselves up and get back into the game but were always on the back-foot and failed to compose themselves in front of goal. After 25 minutes the first yellow card was shown when Gilberto Silva was harshly booked for a 50/50 challenge. Just a minute later and the home team doubled their lead when again Govou turned provider this time for Cisse to score a stunning goal. 2 - 0. Aston Villa were shocked and again started to push forwards looking to get something before half time but were unable to break the Panathinaikos back line. Cisse was fortunate to stay on the pitch after 43 minutes when he took out a Villa player with his elbow, the referee just shown a yellow card. The half time whistle blew with the home fans delighted.

Half Time 2 - 0.

Cisse Grabs Himself Two Goals.

Aston Villa needed to turn the game around in the second half and look to attack at all times but the home team stood strong and continued to control the game. Chances from Bent and Downing were the closest Villa came to retrieving anything from the game but their efforts were just not good enough. Panathinaikos wrapped up the three points when with only 11 minutes remaining Govou provided his third goal of the game for Cisse to grab his second following a goalmouth scramble. 3 - 0. The final whistle blew with the home fans ecstatic at such a fine victory.

MOM Seitaridis.

Camila:

Not what I expected at all from the lads, we must drastically improve and will be looking to get a result in the Champions Cup against Hamburger SV.

MOM Agbonlahor Shows Great Teamwork.

Aston Villa started their Champions League campaign with all three points after a fine victory over a strong Hamburger SV outfit. Both teams came out strong in the first half looking to gain the early advantage. Ruud Van Nistlerooy looked the more menacing in front of goal but was unable to get past the impressive Brad Friedel. The deadlock was finally broken in the 35th minute when Darren Bent played the ball inside the Hamburger penalty area for Jean Makoun to neatly finish. 1 - 0. Aston Villa were playing the game well and went into half time one goal in front.

Half Time 1 - 0.

Jean Makoun scores Villa's First

Villa came out in the second half full of purpose and after some near misses from Bent and Ashley Young, Villa doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Darren Bent provided his second assist this time for Agbonlahor who from the edge of the area scored a screamer. 2 - 0. The home team were now firmly in control which led to more attacks from the Villa front line, some fine display of goalkeeping skills from Frank Rost kept Hamburger in the game. A stupid challenge from Kacar in the 66th minute resulted in the only yellow card of the game. The away team started to press the Villa back line but again were still unable to find a way past Friedel. Villa held their two goal advantage to the final whistle to the delight of the home fans.

Final Score 2 - 0.

MOM Agbonlahor.

Camila:

A great result for the team and fans, a much better display all-round. I hope we can carry this over to the league were we really must start collecting those points. Our net game is a home fixture against Cruzeiro.

Cruzeiro Scrape Win.

Aston Villa 0 - 1 Cruzeiro

Ganso 88.

MOM Jonathan Solid In Defence.

Aston Villa started the game brightly coming off a fine win in midweek against Hamburger SV but the Cruzeiro defence was too strong for the Villa attacking line. The home team had several chances in the first twenty minutes to put themselves ahead with the closest coming for Jean Makoun who missed an open goal from six yards. Cruzeiro were sparing in their attacks as they looked to catch Villa on the counter attack but Brad Friedel was on hand to save Villa. The half time whistle blew with Villa looking the more threatening.

Half Time 0 - 0.

Ganso Scores A Fabulous 88th Minute Winner.

Cruzeiro enjoyed much of the second half with a fine display of attack and defence, whilst Aston Villa were again limited in their attacking options with only Petrov having a clear chance on goal. The away team added constant pressure onto the Villa defence and were awarded in the 88th minute with a free kick in a dangerous position, Gans stepped up and curled the ball beautifully into the back of the net, Friedel stood no chance in saving that one. The final whistle blew to a chorus of boos from the home crowd as they once again slipped to another defeat in the league.

MOM Jonathan.

Camila:

Another defeat in the league, this is nowhere near acceptable and it's about time we fixed this. We need to be much more ruthless in front of goal and make these chances count.

Villa Finally Win.

Aston Villa 4 - 2 Celtic

MOM Petrov, A Fantastic Midfield Display.

Aston Villa headed into their third game of the season on the back of two defeats facing a Celtic team in the same situation. Celtic started the game in impressive form when on the 7th minute Samaras fed the ball to Stokes who passed two Villa defenders with ease before slotting the ball home. 0 - 1. Both teams started to press each others defence with Young coming the closest to scoring. On the 20th minute Warnock picked up Villas' only yellow card of the game for a foolish challenge on the edge of the area. The home team started to dominate the midfield and the pressure soon paid off when on the 33rd minute a delightful corner from Downing was headed in by Ashley Young. 1 - 1. On the 42nd minute Hinkel became the first and only Celtic player to get booked for a stupid challenge. Just two minutes later a crashing drive from Darren Bent rebounded off the crossbar and Makoun was on hand to tap in the easiest of chances. 2 - 1. The half time whistle blew with the home fans delighted with their teams first half display.

Half Time 2 - 1.

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSOrzK6_6p9BC17NQqVlf9Q__BxwEV9GDOlgP_oFvZJLQ4v2597

Makoun Grabs Himself Two Goals.

Villa continued their dominance in the second half with a fantastic midfield display. Within 11 minutes of the restart Villa extended their lead when Agbonlahor split open the Celtic defence which left Makoun with another easy tap in. 3 - 1. Villa were now in full control of the game and were able to attack on the counter which lead to their fourth goal when on the 76th minute a lay off from Downing sent Petrov on a foraging run and with a stunning strike sends the home support wild. 4 - 1. With the game nearing the end there was one last moment for Celtic to grab a late goal to reduce the scoreline when with only two minutes to go Maloney found Loovens in acres of space and was able to curl in a fantastic shot. 4 - 2. The final whistle blew with the delight of the home fans after they collect their first points in the league.

Final Score 4 - 2.

MOM Petrov.

Camila:

A much needed victory in front of the home fans, I hope we can now use this and start to work our way up the league table. The midfield today was truly exceptional, with all four goals coming from them. Next we face a difficult tie against Genoa in the Champions League.
