Another thrashing by Hamburg SV, this time against unmanaged Arminia Bielefeld. The win doesn't change much for Hamburg, keeping them at 4th place.

All four goals came from French striker Steve Savidan! Who made just his second start of the season.

Sparky was delighted with the veteran striker;

"He just proved to me why he should be a first team player. Grabbing four goals is absolutely phenomenal, he really showed his class tonight."

Fantastic Four

After 13 games in charge, Sparky has only lost one game! And has transformed a relegation bound side to title chasing giants!

Yeovil Town 2 - 0 Walsall

Another comfortable win for Yeovil Town as they continue to rise up the division 4 table, nearer to the all important 3 promotion spots.

Sherman Cardenas got the opener in the 17th minute when a brilliant through ball left him with just the keeper to beat.

The lead was doubled soon after in the 24th minute, Marcelo Corrales's excellent header crashing into the back of the net for his 6th goal of the season.

The win sees Yeovil move up to 8th, with Walsall down to 6th.

Yeovil Town 4 - 0 Crewe Alexandra

Another impressive win for Yeovil who have won 5 of their 6 games played under George, the other being a draw on his debut.

Marcelo Corrales got the opener in the 40th minute as he nodded home a cross from the wing.

Crewe had a chance to equalise before half time but Chris Flynn rushed his shot when in plenty of space.

Stefano Okaka Chuka doubled the lead with a fantastic goal from the edge of the box in the 58th minute.

Goals in the last 10 minutes from Sherman Cardenas and Corrales were enough to secure the win.

SMFA Champs Cup Action

429.gifRangers VS Hamburg SV401.gif

German giants Hamburg SV will be very confident going to Ibrox this evening after their demolishing against FC Schalke. Boss Sparky was optimistic about his team's clash against The Scots; "It will be a good game, we are top of the table and are looking to qualify as champions. They will be a hard side, especially when they are at home. But my lads will give it their all and hopefully come away with all the points."

Hamburg SV are leading group F by 2 points after 2 games. They beat Bordeaux last week and drew against Flamengo the week before. Rangers are sitting 3rd level on points with Flamengo.

Hamburg SV Team News

6 Goal hero Steve Savidan is likely to be rested alongside playmaker Rykun. Shota Arvaladze is still injured so Boubocar Sanogo is likely to replace him.

Star striker Giuseppe Rossi is likely to start.

Borough reach SMFA Shield Quarted Final

Middlesbrough have tonight booked their place in the Quarter Final of the SMFA Shield after a 3-2 away win at the Geoffroy-Guichard arena against St. Etienne

St. Etienne took the lead after only 7 minutes when Rydell Poepon found space and slotted home, the lead lasted just 5 minutes when Borough Captain Julio Arca fired a blistering shot past Jodi Viviani to level, another 5 minutes later Borough took the lead through top scorer Ayegbeni Yakubu who scored from an acute angle. With that goal Yakubu now has a record this season of 15 goals in 12 games in all competitions which has delighted Winston and the fans who hail him as a legend already.

The Borough lead lasted only 2 minutes as Niculae Mitea scored a header to level the match. The score stayed 2-2 until half time.

Yakubu put Borough in the lead 5 minutes later

The second half was totally dominated by Middlesbrough who had a total of 36 shots on goal, with half of them on target, they had 64% possession and really just outplayed St. Etienne. They were not making this dominance pay off and were getting increasingly frustrated and were lucky to get the winner which came after 81 minutes when Julio Arca's shot took a wicked deflection past the Etienne keeper to give Borough the victory they deserved.

The Quarter Final will be played against Valencia at the Riverside Stadium. This will be a very hard tie as Valencia have a good squad but Winston is confident that they can cause an upset.

German Shield Round 3

750.gifFC Augsburg 1-5 Hamburg SV401.gif

German giants Hamburg SV advanced to the next round of the German shield after a thumping 5-1 win over unmanaged Augsburg.

Hamburg fielded their "B" team as the giants face Borussia Dortmund and Rangers next.

It was the home side however, that started well, Lars Muller curling a beautiful shot from 25 yards!

Their lead only lasted 5 minutes when Oleksandr Rykun shot in off the woodwork.

Another was scored for Hamburg when French striker Steve Savidan curled in past the keeper.

It was just one way traffic from there, as Hamburg pushed and pushed and scored again through Brazilian star Pedrinho.

And just 2 minutes from the break, Rykun notched up another with a quick run and a thumping shot. 4-1 at half time!

The second half just produced one goal as Steve Savidan scored again after some horrible defending! The striker getting his 15th goal of the whole season!

Re: Gold Championship 6

Shield Boost for Real

League holders Real have been given some hope tonight after they saw off big rivals, league runner's up and current league leaders Atletico Madrid 3-1 away from home in a game where both sides fielded squads of youth players.

Madrid defeated Barcelona in the cup last week after another 3-1 display although they drew with Barca 3-3 just 2 days ago.

Real's cup performances have been as expected but the clubs league results this season have been below par. They have drawn way too many games and we wont even talk about the games they have lost.

Real have the side and the potential to win every competition they set foot in but they currently sit 9th in the league and almost have half as many points as rivals Atletico Madrid who sit top by 10 points.

Real were in fact the first side to beat their rivals this season other then Zaragoza who knocked them out of the cup last weekend, and hopefully this will be the basis for a run of results to put Real back into at least a Champions Cup place.

Borough thrash Liverpool

Middlesbrough picked up 3 points tonight in the most amazing fashion with an amazing 6-2 drubbing of 3rd place Liverpool at the Riverside. Borough have moved up to 8th and this result is a massive confidence boost ahead of Friday's crunch Quarter Final against Valencia. The remarkable scoreline was even more amazing as Borough rested all 11 of their usual starting eleven ahead of the up coming cup match and fielded a reserve team. The starting team was the same one that lost to Chelsea on Saturday.

Borough kicked off with both teams trading blows and creating chances with no end product, that was until the 23rd minute when Mark Viduka seized on a defensive error to take the ball around Jose Reina and slotted the ball home. Middlesbrough continued to press which resulted in Borough making the most of the pressure they were putting Liverpool under when Viduka scored his second when he wrong footed the Reina again and finished well. Liverpool reacted by pushing forward in numbers and nearly pulled a goal back on a number of occasions, that was until a long clearance up field was pounced on by Viduka again who fired a rocket past Reina to complete an amazing 18 minute hatrick. The score at half time was 3-0.

(Viduka is ecstatic after his amazing hatrick)

Liverpool started the second half like they had been thoroughly spoken to as they had chances to pull goals back but did not convert them, that was until a shot from Adam Hammill crashed back off the crossbar and fell to Mahamadou Diarra who lashed the ball home to pull a goal back for Liverpool.

(Diarra pulled a goal back for Liverpool)

Liverpool pressed for a second but it did not come, the Borough players looked confident and attacked well every chance they had and with that Stuart Downing made a jinking run down the wing and crossed perfectly for Craig Bellamy to powerfully head the ball into the net makig the score 4-1.

(Welshman Bellamy scored Borough's 4th)

By this time the Liverpool platers were looking tired and their heads were down and this was made even worse when a cross from Maximiliano Pereira was met by Stuart Downing's head and the ball went past Reina again to make the score look rather embarrassing for Liverpool.

Liverpool did pull another goal back 10 minutes from time through Robin Van Persie but the scoring was not complete as Borough scored their 6th through another header from Stuart Downing.

Re: Gold Championship 6

One mans stupidity costs Borough a place in the Semi Final

Middlesbrough.jpg

After more than matching the Spanish Giants Middlesbrough were very unlucky not to come away with anything from the SMFA Shield Quarter Final. Valencia were amazed by the reaction of the Borough fans to their team, hey were shocked that the crowd was so upbeat.

With Valencia making a good start to the game making some early attacks and putting Borough under pressure with no result. Just as Middlesbrough got back iinto the game with creating chances of their own they suffered a sucker punch as on 19 minutes a cross from the left and side by Miguel Angulo was met perfectly by Valencia's attacking midfielder Andres D'Alessandro who headed the ball past Mark Schwarzer to make the score 1-0.

Andres_Nicolas_D_Alessandro_573925.jpg

(D'Alessandro scores a powerful header to give Valencia the lead)

After the Valencia goal Borough started to attack with Aiyegbeni Yakubu being a major tool in Borough play, that was until a crazy moment of madness from the Nigerian talisman in which he was seen kicking out at his marker Roberto Ayala following a niggling challenge from the Argentinian.

yakubu_aiyegbeni_mfc_profile_2006.jpg

_40778205_redcard_203.jpg

(Yakubu shown red card for a stupid lash out)

This had a reverse effect to what was expected as Valencia looked like the team with ten men as Borough pressed for an equalizer before half time, the only thing lacking was that killer finish which would of been provided by Yakubu if he rush of blood had not happened. As the ten men could not score before half time the score stayed 1-0 to Valencia.

The second half was evenly matched with both teams missing chances and Middlesbrough's chances of getting back into the game slipping away with every minute that passed. Valencia put one foot in the Semi Final after a break away goal from Italian Francesco Tavano who recieved the ball wide on the right from man of the match D'Alessandro skipped inside his marker Ilunga and bent a majestic curler from 25yards into the top corner, a goal worthy of winning any game.

504143.jpg

(Tavano scored the second Valencia goal)

Middlesbrough took until the 88th minute to break Valencia down when Scott Parker who only signed for Borough on Wednesday scored from an acute angle.

Hamburg Climb To Second Spot!!!

After the first five games of the season, Hamburg SV were lying on 19th with just 3 points. It looked to be an extremely hard season for the Germans, till a new manager arose.

Mitu Ahmed took over the giants after five games, they were 19th and any hopes for silverware looked dim, but with a new manager came new tactics. Sparky didn't take long to show off his skills, he is Hamburg SV's Saviour this season.

Not only did the manager bring wins - but he bought entertainment. Demolishing teams from 5-0 to a massive 10-0! Hamburg are now 2nd and will fight for top spot on Saturday against VFB Stuttgart.

Form After The First Five

When asked about his secrets, the man himself told SMTV; "We needed new tactics, tactics that would suit our team and their preferred style of play. We like fast attacking football, and I am over the moon that the players have performed."

reignaq9.png

Under Sparky's Reign

Among these fantastic performances lies one clinical striker. An experienced Frenchman who has been the key to Hamburg's massive scorelines. None other than 29 year old striker Steve Savidan, who has managed 16 goals in a total of 8 games for Hamburg, 11 of those which have come in the league.

He was interviewed by SMTV in which he said; "This is just my season I guess, in the past few years I have never in my life have expected to be in this sort of form. But I wish to thank the new manager for having faith in my ability, and the fans who have backed me ever since I have arrived. I wish to turn into a regular first team player, but with players such as Arvaladze, Rossi and Olic here, I know it will be difficult. But that is the main reason why I perform, because of competition."

Hamburg's Star Man

Hamburg play Bordeaux tomorrow in the SMFA Champs Cup, The Germans are currently third, but they can move up to 2nd if they win. However, they may have to rest some of their stars as they play first place VFB on Saturday.

Hamburg's SMFA Champs cup dreams were reignited when they beat French team Bordeaux at the Chaban-Delmas.

The Germans stuck to their attacking gormation, hoping it would pay off like last time - and it did.

Frenchman Steve Savidan bagged two second half goals, the first with a magnificent volley, and the second with a towering header.

Hamburg SV are now second in Group H, and will face league leaders Rangers in their next game. Hamburg need to win to ensure qualification - and if they do win, then they will qualify as champions!

Sparky was relieved that his team managed a crucial win; "It's a critical win, If we had lost then our chances would have been over. Steve played another vital role here, and I am pleased with his performances once more."

Savidan Hattrick Takes Hamburg To Top Spot!!!

Steve Savidan done it again! A magnificent hattrick took Hamburg to first place as they beat their fellow title contenders VFB Stuttgart 3-1.

Before the match, Stuttgart were 1st place - just a point ahead of Hamburg. But after this win, SV have taken top spot!

Sparky was over the moon and told TalkSport.com;

"It's amazing! We had a SMFA game yesterday and I knew the lads were tired, therefore we had to rotate and it worked perfectly. We are in all competitions and we could be breaking records!"

Hattrick Hero and Man of the Match Steve Savidan told BBC; "I'm delighted, to score a hattrick in such a big game is wonderful. I wanted to repy the manager for having belief in me. Now I believe we can win anything!"
