MORECAMBE LATEST NEWS

Pre-season has seen the mighty Morecambe go out and splash the dosh on strengthening the defense with the likes of O'Shea, Senderos and Brison. Also decided to splash some cash on Krasic and Fetfatzidis to give a little extra to the midfield.

2 midfields

After an impressive start to the season Morecambe strengthen even further in the last week.

Adding yet again another 2 midfielders, Cofie and Dyer who both look like they will play a very important role for us this season!

The striker force was also strengthened with Woods and Zoua . Two young lads who I believe will go on to have decent careers!

Really pleased on who we managed to bring in the summer, but have to admit that the latest signings have been ever sweeter than I could have imagined. Really hope these lads can add that little bit extra to what we already had and be enough to secure promotion this season. We nearly clinched a playoff spot last season so I think with these new additions we can be classed as serious contenders and finish the job this season.

Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread

Manuel FRIEDRICH has completed his move to Sheffield Wednesday from Dortmund for £3,230,000 plus Albert RAFETRANIAINA . All other offers were turned down.

Another experienced player to fill a gap at CB and provide more options. Playing for Dortmund albeit as cover but he is cheap and will sell on after TB :)

Leaves 5 million left to play with :)

Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Hull City

An absolutely fantastic result for us. An Eduardo brace via 2 free kicks ensured a shock victory for us. That makes it 4 points for us in the opening 2 games for us, against 2 teams that could potentially be champions of the teams by the end of the season.

We now have travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday, hopefully we can continue this good start and keep another clean sheet.

Carlisle United 3 - 0 Macclesfield Town

Aboubakar 21', 20'

Huszti 48'

A stellar performance from the boys pushes us up to third and sees us remain unbeaten. A good couple of goals for the young striker and the man of experience Huszti accompany impressive debuts for Milosevic and Rabia.

Especially happy that we've remained strong despite the departure of one of our star players Hegeler.

Mathias Johnsen

18 years old and an unknown face to many; the Norwegian has surprised many Carlisle fans over the past few days. The reason being that he has come on for the last fifteen minutes of each of the last two games and made a couple of headlines in the process.

Coming on against Swindon on Monday, the youngster scored a dramatic equaliser within seconds of replacing Jens Hegeler. This was deemed impressive enough by manager Adriano to credit another opportunity against Macclesfield on Wednesday.

Here he came on in the 75th minute, yet again, and set up teammate Vincent Aboubakar within minutes of his arrival.

Fans have started referring to him as 'the Super Sub' and it's no wonder why. Adriano has not been afraid to praise his performances although insists fans do not get carried away mentioning that 'he is only young and it would be wrong to heap that much pressure on him after only 30 minutes of football. I still view him as a youth player who can only improve but will require time. There will be more to see of him though, Jens Hegeler has now gone for good and Johnsen is listed as a first-team player this season.'

There may be a few extra eyes on the Blues' bench this weekend when they face Oldham Athletic, where the likes of Mathias Johnsen and other youth players are often found. Could he get another chance to prove himself? Or could Adriano even consider starting him? The only thing that is certain is that there haven't been many 10k signings with a better immediate impact than this one.

Great start for Sunderland so far in the league, managed to beat a much higher rated Arsenal in out first game 1-0,and then we beat newly promoted Charlton 3-1 in our second game to give us maximum pionts from 2 games.

5 teams with 100% records, lets see how many it is after the weekends games:)

Hi all just took over Stockport.:)

Have a small squad with a bit of cash but not loads. Willing to listen to offers for players not on transfer bans such as Zieler, Rhodolfo, Wendt, Uysal, and M Fernandez for p/e deals, possibly one for cash!

Hoping to gain a squad with a bit more depth and thanks to Sunderland for the loan of Waris to bolster our forward options.

Yeovil away presents a tough start to life with County.

Christmas Selection Issues?

Screen-shot-2011-10-04-at-21.48.12-300x259.png

Ho.. Ho.. NO.... Not that selection issue! Southampton are missing a host of players for the trip to Villa Park. It seems that Ross Barkley will be lining up tonight with Carl Jenkinson filling in for the injured Cristian Zapata. Morgan Schniderlin is having a late fitness test. Southampton have picked up 6 points so far, which isn't bad considering on average they have been losing 2 players per game.

Alex Witsel is suspended, but with Morgan Schniederlin back his absence shouldn't be that much for the next two games when he regains fitness.

We all know Aston Villa shouldn't be in this league with the likes of Pedro in their first eleven, they have been very patient with their manager, perhaps too patient. Some fans might want to think about a revolt if they do not go straight back up to the Premier League and we hope to join them this season too.

Nice to see Calum Chambers starting again for Southampton, nice little buy for 750k :D

A somewhat disappointing game to lose which on the balance of play was deserving of a draw but was not to be.

4 points out of a possible 12 for Accrington not a great return. Trying to work wonders with an average squad punching above its weight, however I endeavour to succeed as it is all part of the challenge.

Point away at Villa, I'd call that a success

:D

No new injuries which is also nice for the first time this season! Villa piled the pressure on late into the game, but Southampton held on.

We made changes, well had to make changes from Wednesday with Zapata and Witsel both out. Barkley and Jenkinson came in, Barkley is an amazing talent and CJ continues to develop really well. Zapata and Schniederlin will be back for next game, but Zapata will be rested as was Morgan to regain fitness. No new injury concerns, all three long time injuries are at roughly the same stage, and shall see them play in January.

P.S. I think that Chelsea job is cursed. His tactics are strange, push all defenders towards goalkeeper, and midfielders towards forward, leaving the space of Russia in the middle of the park.

Decent point against Blackpool tonight for Sunderland which ended 2-2,which is always a tough game.

We went 2-0 up with goals from Hernandez and Tiago and disapointed we couldnt hold on to win, stats were fairly even so a pretty fair result.

Good game Marc:)

its a weird tactic...but it works....his rochdale always punched above their weight against clubs with better averages..

think it confuses the match engine....

bah havent really written much concerning FGR preseason....signing Sturridge....and with our dodgy start to the season nor am i inclined too yet either!

First 4 games..

1-2 good away win at Bury

1-1 with Doncaster

0-2 loss at home to Brighton

3-3 tonight home to Walsall.

need to sort out our home form, its letting us down when New Lawn has usually been a fortress in the past.

Carlisle Stun Oldham to Go Second

A double from American forward Terrence Boyd and an eventual match winner from star performer Barrientos maintains our unbeaten start to the season and sees us climb to an impressive second. The likes of Torres and Diarra were matched and bettered as we saw 59% possession and a greater share of chances.

A surprising but none-the-less deserved win and strong start to the new campaign.

Life at Stockport started with a 2-0 away defeat to Yeovil. Stockport were disappointing especially in the 1st half where they conceded both goals.

New boss Lee Reynolds has added through loan players with Majeed Maris arriving from Sunderland, Felix Kroos from Fulham and Jonathan Silva from Leicester, thanks to all managers. All 3 add much more depth to a squad struggling to cope with the early season schedule.

Oscar Wendt will return to Monchengladbach for £5.4, this will more funds to allow us to strengthen the squad.

Good game mate

Substitutions played a huge role, with Willian coming on in the 60th minute to create both goals and Walcott coming on to score the late equaliser :)

5 points behind already :(

Life is hard in 5 div, so Fabien Frey will leave Oxford soon and Danny Rose may be the next, maybe not.

Frei: FC Basel CM, he will rise sooner or later and Basel made a 6.9M offer, i will accept the best offer before weekend.

Danny Rose: Spurs LB, i will only accept max offers or some wonderkid + money, not so sure about selling him.
