Blackpool Preview (Season 9)

Blackpool are looking forward to another tough season in the Premierleague. Our aim as always is to qualify for the Champions League, which we narrowly missed out on last season. The only new arrival is experience Brazil defender Dante who we managed to sign in the final weeks of last season, aswell as three players joining the ever improving youth team. The club hope to make a big signing before the sesaon begins on Saturday. One target was Andrea Pirlo, but after negotiations broke down the Italian is now set to join QPR.

A pretty tough opening five league games. Charlton and Leeds are winnable games, but then we face both North London clubs at home and inbetween that a trip to our rivals Manchester United. We face Rotherham in the Cup and Derby in the shield and we expect to progress into Round 2 off both domestic competitions. We also expect big things in the Europa League and aim to reach the final. An easy group containing Hamburg, Saint-Etienne and Sporting Lisbon, Our younger stars will get a chance to shine in the group stages.

Our 21 Man first team

Rating wise we have had better squads, but this is definately the most talented squad ive had at the start of a season with Blackpool. No one in real danger of dropping ratings (Maybe Dante but unlikely), whilst alot of the younger players should get rises.

Goalkeepers

Handanovic (91)

Areola (84)

Defenders

Zabaleta (92)

Danilo (89)

Dante (93)

Pepe (92)

Koscielny (91)

Van Rhijn (87

Adriano (91)

Telles (86)

Midfielders

Deulofeu (87)

Bruma (85)

Iniesta (97)

Asamoah (91)

Danny (90)

Perez (90)

Silva (86)

Strikers

Tevez (93)

Walcott (91)

Rondon (89)

Diouf (89)

Average Age: 25...Average Rating: 89

Think top 4 might be difficult with the likes of City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and now Chelsea all having stronger squads. However we are an ambitious club and have the experience of reaching the Champions League many times. Best of luck to all for the upcoming season!

Andrea Pirlo joins QPR!

pirlo.jpg

Andrea PIRLO has completed his move to Queens Park Rangers from Port Vale for 15,000,000 plus Cícero JONATHAN

Queens Park Rangers have broken their transfer record by signing Andrea PIRLO from Port Vale for 15,000,000 plus Cícero JONATHAN

We're obviously delighted to welcome a world class player like Pirlo to our club. He's not the typical young player that anybody wants to get, but he's an absolute genius despite his age, and he's still one of the best around, like his 94 rating proves! He will add extra quality to our team. He will obviously be our playmaker and set pieces taker. He will miss our first matches because he's still recovering from an injury and we won't risk him until he's 100% fit! We expect him to be an instrumental player for us this season!

We wasted all our money and our main RB/RM but it was for a great cause! We will now get 6M from Benfica's duo Benito & César, that will possible allow us to get a new RB and possibly another CB in the market! Young talents Scuffet and Santiago Arias may be used in a deal! Cheers.

Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread

Swindon's preparations for the new season are going well. Everyone is now fit and training is going well as our pre-season friendly results so far have shown.

Last night we played against one of the stronger teams we will face this season in Division 2, Colchester United. We have been giving our 73 rated GK, Chris Maxwell a run out in these friendly matches but it was his 94 rated opposite number, Buffon, who picked the ball out of the net more times as we beat them 2-1 in front of our faithful crowd.

So far we have not made any of the big signings that our fans are anxiously waiting for. Mainly because the Managers of the players we are interested in have not been in the office. Anyhow, we will be patient and wait for the right time.

In other transfer news, Ivan Marcano recently moved to Everton for a fee just shy of £10m. It's a good deal for both clubs although, naturally, the fans are more interested in seeing someone coming in than going out but we hope to be able to appease them soon.

Few transfers at Birmingham,

Lukasz Fabianski joins with Costel Pantilimon heading the otherway in a straight swap. 2 years may separate them, but Fabianski should be in for a rise to 87 when the EPL is reviewed - getting regularly game time for Swansea, whereas Pantilimon can't even get into the Sunderland nets. No brainer for me.

Twente defender, Cuco Martina joins for £2m - played every minute this season so far for Twente, so expecting a nice little rise for him, but mainly a cheap squad player - don't plan to sell him if he continues to get minutes under his belt.

American International, John-Anthony Brooks became the first loan signing of the season on Tuesday, joining from Arsenal for the season. Should get a fair few minutes under his belt, especially if Bodmer leaves.

Finally, Empoli defender, Elseid Hysaj will mainly provide cover at fullback - don't know a great deal about him, but a 20-year-old fullback at a fairly decent rating, should provide ample cover for Maicon. Also frees Pereirinha and Trasch up to play elsewhere.

Still in the market and still up for negotiations regarding Remy, Bodmer, Gouffran and Pasqual.

Carlisle United Win The Charity Shield!

Another trip to Wembley saw a replay of the English Shield final of last season as we faced the Game World Champions Tottenham Hotspur.

And to the surprise of just about everyone in the stadium, myself included, we thrashed our superior opposition 4-0 to win the first silverware of the season.

2 goals from Stijn Schaars, 1 from Javier Saviola and a long range strike from Polanski saw us cruise past Spurs and make a positive start to the new campaign.

The only negative is that Luuk De Jong is now injured for two weeks, which is a little frustrating as he hasn't had much of a chance to settle into the side having been signed so late on last season.

Carlisle United Win The Charity Shield!

Well done mate, a cracking start to the season for you! A trophy in the best set-up on SM is a tremendous achievement,,, & against the mighty Spurs is the sugar on top of the icing!!

Meanwhile back at County Ground we played another Division 2 powerhouse, this time in the form of promotion contenders Aston Villa.

Yet again our 73 rated reserve GK proved up to the task. And we would like to thank Villa's 92 rated Courtois for kindly showing Chris Maxwell the correct method for retrieving the ball out of the net as my team went on a four goal rampage to win 4-2 :D:D:D

Seriously though, these are only meaningless friendlies and we are well aware that when we meet Frozy's Villa for real it will be a completely different story. But nevertheless, its a good reminder to the big teams that having 90 rated players on your team sheet is job only half done!

For the upcoming season I would hope we could push for a play-off spot, it is a decent enough squad although a bit thin in the odd department if we pick up come long term injuries, it is a hard division with some awesome looking squads so it will be tough but I am sure we will be in the mix in or around the play-offs come the end of the season.

I never set tactics nor check the results for the friendlies. So pointless they should scrap them tbh and get seasons starting faster

I've made my first and probably only senior signing of pre-season.

Liam Rosenior signs to provide cover for first choice DR Mattia Cassani. Rosenior performs well for Hull City, so certainly deserves at least a +1 in the next Premier League review. He is also very versatile; able to play across the right and left flanks.

Great job AB with the community shield win. Another succesful season for you perhaps :D

Bruma joins Bournemouth on a two week loan, feel they needed him the most from the three loan offers. Will come back to Blackpool to play a part in the cup, shield and Champions League.

Our pre-season hasn't been great, but we have given some youngsters a chance and tried a few formations. Final pre-season game tonight is against Hereford and will be fielding a strong XI to build confidence for tomorrow night.

Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread

I do not particularly pay much attention to friendlies, we have used them to test out a few formations/tactics/players in certain positions and although it means jot we have had a decent run through the end of season friendlies through the pre-season friendlies.

7 - 0 Brentford

1 - 1 Southport

3 - 2 Exeter City

4 - 0 Bristol Rovers

3 - 3 Accrington Stanley

1 - 1 Nottingham Forest

4 - 0 Dagenham & Redbridge

4 - 1 Shrewsbury Town

Five wins and three draws is pleasing especially the manner of some of the wins and the amount of possession we have managed in most of the games, the opposition has not always been the greatest so I take it with a pinch of salt tbh, new season is under-way tomorrow good luck all.

Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread

Swindon Town wrapped up our pre-season friendlies with another victory. This time over Stockport County. Again our 73 rated GK, Chris Maxwell, out shone his 91 rated opposite.

However, as Dan pointed out, these games have little meaning other than to try out formations, players, etc., that you wouldn't normally risk.

Despite Maxwell's very impressive performances between the sticks he will be handing the gloves over to our regular first team keeper, Nick Marsman, for our first match in Division 2 against Crewe tonight.

Still no in-roads made on the transfer front as yet so our first team squad, for now, will remain as it was....

GK

Nick Marsman (85)

Defenders

Igor Smolnikov (87)

Efe Ambrose (85)

Mario Fernandes (88)

Ragnar Sigurdsson (86)

Pre season complete at Forest Green Rovers, no major squad alterations except the sales of Egemen Korkmaz back to Turkey and Ricardo Van Rhijn to Blackpool. Both where only expected to be fringe players with the returns of a number of defenders who were out on loan last season. Alexandru Maxim also departed in the off season to |Bournemouth, Manu Trigueros and Max Meyer come into the squad from loan spells last season to bolster the ranks.

A couple of strikers have been linked but no concrete rumours.

First Team Playing Squad

Goalkeepers

Sven ULREICH

Sergio ASENJO

Etrit BERISHA

Ulreich and Asenjo will share gloveman duties, Berisha as backup but loan listed.

Defence

Sead KOLASINAC

Alberto MORENO

Juan BERNAT

Yevhen KHACHERIDI

Tony JANTSCHKE

Marc BARTRA

Shkodran MUSTAFI

Antonio RÜDIGER

Seamus COLEMAN

a relativity inexperienced group of young promising defenders but we are well covered for depth.

Ander ITURRASPE

Asier ILLARRAMENDI

SAÚL Ñíguez

Borja VALERO

James MILNER

Wahbi KHAZRI

Manu TRIGUEROS

a large Spanish contingent in the FGR midfield will add flair and encourage a tiki taka flow in the middle of the park. James Milner will provide his trademark high work rate and discipline to his role in the side. Saul Niguez, Khazri, Manu Trigueros & Max Meyer will provide the supporting roles thorughout the season.

Forwards

Daniel STURRIDGE

Burak YILMAZ

Luiz ADRIANO

The line again will be lead by Studge & Yilmaz, with Luiz Adriano the 3rd man.

Blackpool 6-1 Charlton

Blackpool kicked off the season in sensational form with a thrashing home win against Charlton. Iniesta opened the scoring with a long range effort in the 18th minute. Tevez doubled the lead with a header shortly after and Charlton pulled on back through Jimmy Briand (A former player of mine in season 2).

Carlos Tevez made it 3-1 before the break, and is already half way to last seasons poor league tally. Deulofeu, Walcott and Perez added goals after the hour to seal an emphatic win.
