Revision for Exams

Re: Revision for Exams

Yeah man' date=' i missed out the last question completely, and guessed three others..:o Paper was messed up.[/quote']

Yeah was so hard. Completely nailed my mock papers, but that paper was nothing like the previous years. Really hope the calculator paper is easier, or I reckon they should lower the boundries. I've always been good at maths all the way from Primary to Secondary school, but that was the hardest paper I've ever done. Don't know a single person who thought it was easy.

Yeah, some of the 2009 papers were extremely easy.. I was getting an A comfortably.. So i was walking into todays exam thinking it was going to be the same.. :o

Now, hopefully they lower the grade boundaries. A 'B' looks realistic atm..

Did you get the vectors questions? I got the 1st one, but the second one was complicated:confused:

Nope didn't get it either. Loads of questions didn't make sense, like the money one about sharing £54. Yeah in my mock exam I got a top A, so was hoping for a A* this time round. That's certainly gone out of the window and I agree a "b" looks more likely now. :(

The question about sharing 54 pounds was stupid. In the end, I still couldn't figure it out:o

There was a question on triangles.. and it said prove why both angles were the same, or something like that.. that was confusing..

Lastly, did you use your tracing paper at all?

Nope I didn't use it, bar draw a triangle for the reflection. But, I only did that just to check over it, as I was bored.

Re: Revision for Exams

Ugh just went to school earlier thinking I had a morning exam and it turned out it was at 1pm instead of 9am so I wasted around 2 hours of my today and now have to leave soon again to go to school for the exam only to do more coursework after it... it's gonna be a long day :(

Re: Revision for Exams

Had two exams today , first was History and a 8:55 start with revision class starting at 8:00am so not the best way to start a day shoved in the well of the hall with 120 others to look at a tiny screen ... fun. The exam went really well though and the last two nights of reading through my notes and textbook as well as watching short 10 minute documentarys on youtube have seemed to have pay off. The cold war is hardly the hardest of topics to get your head round and it's something i quite enjoy learning about so i was pleased with how today went :)

Science was the second exam and in complete opposite to the History exam i didn't revise at all apart from messing around on bitesize games with a mate before the exam. Results showed and i was struggling on the basic 1 mark questions on the foundation paper. I've never been great at Science and i hate learning it but i've always managed to gets C's but i don't think i will be this year! Although i still have a C from last year so it's not the end of the world.

Re: Revision for Exams

First of seven year 10 exams today - History.

Only an hour exam, and this is the exam i've got to the best in really. I got an A* in the mock with half an hour revision in total, in this exam i felt so much better at the end of the exam with around 6 hours revision for History in total.

If i don't get an A* in this, i'll be very dissapointed, although i'm not exactly going to resit if i get an A. I'm not going to be too bothered about it though and reflecting, as i've got six exams to go and there all only going to be harder.

Next up English on Friday. I hate English exams, i'm not too bad during controlled assesments but i'm not good with exams. Doing the TIMIO on the poems should get me close to full marks, but i don't know how to answer the question and essay - just got to try and get my teacher to teach me something that will be useful in the exams.

Re: Revision for Exams

An A..

But it should be changed to a B after this exam today

B? Most likely C :P

The question you were talking about, to me sounds like a standard C grade equilateral triangle question, you'd either be given an angle such as 90degrees, and from that you can find out that the other two angles must add up to 90degrees(you'd be told the angles are the same length, just be asked how you know, well a triangle must add up to 180degrees, so one is already 90, the other two must be 45each). Im just saying though, im done and dusted with my GCSE's, im just assuming it was a question like that :)

Used to be just final exams when are parents went to school, but now they spread then out over 2 years, most at the end of years 10 and 11 :)

I just did the History Unit 1 exam this morning, it was a horrible exam, really long, but fortunately the questions weren't too diffciult :)

Glad that's out of the way :D

It wasn't like that lol

I found the question on another forum, It was..

In the diagram, ABC is a triangle

angle acb is 90 degrees

P lies on the line AB

CP is perpendicular to AB

Then it was like prove the angles of the triangles APC are the same as angles CPB

^ and that question was only in the middle of the paper..

Re: Revision for Exams

Hey guys. It seems most of you are doing GCSE's. I completed my GCSE's last year (now doing AS levels). If you need any tips just ask.

Btw I did chemistry (b grade), biology (c grade with a terrible teacher), maths (a grade), business (a* grade), PE (a grade), english lit (b grade), english lang (b grade), design technology (b grade). There is 1 more subject I did but I can't think of it for some reason.

Re: Revision for Exams

Done one pratice paper for tomorrows exam which doesnt seem alot but im hoping ive got enough knowledge from my lessons to get me through. Hate morning exams and my mind takes about 20-30 to click into place when i get to school after not waking up for my paper round so will be expecting a slow start lucky really that its a 2 hour maths paper and i should be fine considering i finished Tuesdays paper in 30 minutes and last years paper two in about 45 :)

Best of luck to everyone in the exams tomorrow and for the coming weeks im likley to be absent from the forum this week considering i have 7 exams in 3 days on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday guessing its going to be a stressful week ! :P

Re: Revision for Exams

Done English today, 2 hours - oh my god. So glad that's over, but still got to do some sort of creative writing controlled assement this season.

So glad that's out of the way though, hopefully i'll get a C. 5 more exams to go, the hardest and the easiest out of the way. Chemistry, Biology, I.T, Geography and Maths to go this month. Got Geography next monday, that is going to be hard but after that i've got a week off to revise for the last four of which Maths and I.T should be fairly straight forward.

Eight Exams Left , Finished School Today being at a all boys school the banters pretty good but today was top noch even some of the strict teachers were getting involved :)

Got a Killer few days ahead some hardcore revision for this:

Monday: Geography , Ict Written , Media Studies - Inbertween these tests i have to sit in a holding room away from everyone else with just a few people that are in the same situation as me i have to be escorted everywhere i go so i cant be in contact or communication with anyone outside my tests , Really wish the exam boards would just communicate and not put diffrent subjects papers at the same time its a joke really but what can you do

Tuesday: Re , Re , History - not to worried about tueday as ill blag the r.e tests just gonna ride my luck considering i got a A and B in the two tests i did last year without even realising i had a test untill minutes before the exam :o Monday night ill concentrate on History as its probaly my favorite subject plus ill be doing it at college so will need to do well in this exam as i feel monday's first paper went well.

is anyone in the same situation as me with the monday tests or am i alone ? :P

Done English today' date=' 2 hours[/b'] - oh my god. So glad that's over, but still got to do some sort of creative writing controlled assement this season.

Both of mine were 1:45 for English , last year I had a stats mock that was 2 and a half hours! And maths have both been 2 hours so you get used to them :) you've got another year anyway haven't you? Are these just mocks?

Stats got dropped to 2 hours but I have to wait till the 27th of June to sit that paper! The day before my leavers assembly which should be class! Going to miss my school quite a bit but well looking forward to college , people say being at an all boys is rubbish but I compared to other schools I think mine was easily the most relaxed , the teachers were easy to get on with and with no girls came no big headed tits trying to impress em in school anyway so our year pretty much all got on. Shame were all splitting up between 3 separate colleges etc.

Anyway Monday morning I start with a hour revision session from 8 to 8:55 then have a 2 hour Geography followed without break!!!!! A 1 hour 45 media exam so 3 hours 45 minutes sitting still without a break and then to top it off sitting 3 hours in a holding room.... ****

No, i'm doing Year 10 exams. I've had plenty of 2 hour exams in mocks and that, it's just the English 2 hour exam that troubles me, so much writing to the fact my hands got multiple blisters.
